US pop star, Ariana Grande, 25 and Saturday Night live star, David Peterson, 24, have reportedly broken up after 5 months of dating.
According to reports, the pair decided to end their engagement over the weekend.
“It was way too much too soon,” a Grande source tells PEOPLE. “It’s not shocking to anyone.”
Sources close to the couple told TMZ that the decision to split was a mutual choice, as both Grande and Davidson felt the timing wasn’t right.
As of Sunday evening, Grande had not deleted photos and videos of Davidson from her social media accounts, but Davidson’s accounts were no longer active.
The couple’s split comes after Grande has endured a difficult few weeks as she came to terms with the loss of former boyfriend of 2 years Mac Miller, who died from an apparent drug overdose on Sept. 7.
After venting about her emotional exhaustion to her Twitter followers, the star took some much-needed time off.
“Can i pls have one okay day. Just one. pls. I’m so tired pls.” she wrote on Twitter
The Bang Bang singer and the comedian started dating in May after Ariana split from late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller.
Within weeks, Pete had proposed with a ring thought to be worth $100,000.
