The Lagos state police command on Tuesday evening, May 16 invaded the home of embattled singer, Seun Kuti in the Ikeja area of the state.

According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the command duly obtained a warrant to search Seun Kuti’s home.

He said this action was part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged assault on a police officer by the singer.

Recall that the musician, in a video that went viral on May 13, was seen slapping a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

However, the singer claimed in his defense that the officer attempted to kill him and his family members.

“We got a duly issued search warrant, which we went to execute,” Hundeyin revealed on social media.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity claimed the police took the musician along during the search and seized his wife’s phone in the process.

“The police officers invaded Seun’s home here on my street, Akin Osiyemi, and he was in the vehicle with them while in handcuffs. They stormed and searched his apartment. But they also seized his wife’s phone before driving off with Seun Kuti”. Punch quoted the witness as saying.
