A Nigerian landlord has sparked a huge controversy online after sharing his position on renting an apartment to a single woman.
In a recent interview with media personality Olive Emodi, the landlord, whose name was not disclosed, opined that it is wrong for an African woman to actively search for an apartment.
Olive had questioned why some landlords refuse to rent out their houses to single women, and the landlord argued that such a practice is ‘not African.’
According to him, women should not be involved in the search for an apartment; instead, they should focus on getting married and living with their husbands.
When questioned about women in abusive marriages, the landlord asserted that they should endure and stay with their abusive husbands since they willingly chose to marry them.
As expected, the landlord’s statement has generated a wave of reactions online, with many criticizing the man for his extreme stance on the issue.
