Police in Oyo State have arrested a group of suspected armed robbers believed to be involved in using tricycles to rob unsuspecting members of the public. The arrests were made after security operatives received credible information about the activities of the group.

According to reports, the suspects were hiding in a hotel located around the 7UP/Academy area of Ibadan when the police moved in to apprehend them. The operation followed a tip-off from concerned residents who alerted authorities about suspicious activities in the area.

Acting on the information, police officers carried out a coordinated operation and raided the location, leading to the arrest of six individuals. The suspects were identified as Kelvin Daniel (21), Idris Ramon (25), Christopher Solomon (35), Mohamed Telim (21), Taored Aderibigbe (30), and Adekunle Tolani (27).

During the operation, several items believed to be linked to their activities were recovered. These included 18 mobile phones, an Opay ATM card, a National Identification Number (NIN) card, and a tricycle with registration number OYO SHK 508 QP, which authorities say was used by the group to carry out their operations.

The spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Alayande Olayinka, confirmed the arrests while speaking to journalists. She stated that early investigations indicate the suspects are members of a criminal gang that has been terrorizing residents across parts of Ibadan.

Olayinka added that investigations are still ongoing and assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded. She also said further updates will be shared as the case progresses.
