A man has come online to share his reaction after his fiancée got involved in an accident that confined her to a wheelchair 11 days to their wedding.
The man had said that he had received a call that she was involved in an accident.
Alarmed, he kept asking if she was okay.
He was informed that she survived but might not be able to walk again.
She smiles at him as he walked into the hospital.
“That smile was should’ve comforted me
instead it shook me.
Because she didn’t know the full story yet.
Or maybe she did…and was waiting for me to carry it” , he said.
The doctor finally confirmed that she had incurred a permanent spinal injury.
“Suddenly everyone had an opinion
‘End it now’
‘You’re still young’
‘This isn’t what you signed up for.”
Even people I trusted said it gently…like they were saving me”
According to him, he understood their concerns. He also never imagined a wheelchairs instead of wedding walks or becoming a caregiver before becoming a husband.
That night, when he went to her, she said to him,
“You don’t have to do this”
He sat there quiet. Everything had stopped. She had given him an escape…while she was the one who couldn’t walk.
He held her hands, and said,
“I didn’t fall in love with a version of you.
I fell in love with you”
She broke. He did too.
They went ahead with the wedding.
“She was wheeled.
but I remember thinking..
nothing in my life had ever felt more like “right” than that moment”
