A man who had abandoned his wife with two of his daughters returns to claim one of the daughters’ bride price.
The father of two had one day decided to walk away from his family, due to hardship.
Leaving the wife with two toddlers to take care of.
She later finds another man who took in the girls as his.
Years later, one of the daughters is set to get married.
The estranged father then reappears, insisting that the bride price be paid to him.
The daughters and the mother refused:
“As far as we’re concerned, the man who
raised us is our father”
The family of the man dragged, insisting that it is tradition; another man can’t take the bride price while the actual father lives.
Emissaries from the man’s family have attempted to mediate, but the daughter is not flinching.
