A video shared by a lady living in Lagos has left many Nigerians amused and baffled. In it, she explained how she attended a naming ceremony where the baby and the parents of the newborn were absent.

According to the lady, she was attending a traditional naming ceremony in Lagos state, expecting the usual joyful atmosphere present at a newborn’s celebration.

Instead, she was surprised to find the atmosphere a bit off as neither the newborn nor the parents were present at the venue.

Apparently, the couple had recently given birth in the United States and were not present at the traditional naming rites, which are usually held on the eighth day after a child is born.

Despite this, their family residing in Lagos decided to go on with the ceremony on their behalf.

Social media users had mixed reactions to the lady’s video, with some finding the situation hilarious.

While others shared their different experiences of how family members put up efforts to uphold tradition, no matter the circumstance, even across borders.
