A new group of individuals have joined the long list of lucky winners from the Infinix Storm X campaign. Finally, Infinix has closed the curtain on its campaign which stretched through a month and some days.
Starting on the 3rd of July, Infinix put out a challenge to young entertainers in Nigeria. Through this challenge, Infinix sought to test the creativity and originality of young entertainers with the goal of bringing true talents into the spotlight.
In addition to beaming the spotlight on talents, Infinix also sought to reward these talents with a whooping sum of ₦360,000. The brand referred to this prize as an “unlimited fun allowance”.
One of the major courses that Infinix stands for is empowering young people. For many years, the brand has been consistent in doing that. Although, the brand has taken on different approaches towards achieving that end, the goal remains crystal clear.

Individuals who purchased any of the HOT 9 series or NOTE 7 series during the period of the campaign also qualified for a raffle draw where final winners were being selected.
The first set of winners from the campaign were announced during the first raffle draw on Thursday, July 30, 2020. At the end of the raffle draw, four grand winners were selected while other participants also walked away with wonderful gift prizes.
The Infinix Storm X challenge was finally brought to a close on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. The challenge ended with the second online raffle draw and saw 7 lucky winners walk away with a grand prize of “unlimited fun allowance”.
In this raffle draw, two outstanding performers from the online competition were selected as lucky grand winners. Their names are; Ronna cayana, and Micheal Aduragbemi. The other five winners were selected from a pool of customers who bought any of the brands latest device from offline stores.
The names of these winners are; Adenike Aderogba, Idowu, Musa Balarebe, Gozie Ezeani, and Chinedu. All of these winners will receive thirty thousand naira monthly allowance for the period of 12 months, amounting ₦360,000 at the end of one year.
This “fun allowance” will help these individuals, who are mostly young people in the university or young graduates, to cushion their monthly expenses. The allowance could also help them take care of necessary grocery shopping, and monthly data subscriptions.
Asides from the grand winners, other lucky winner also walked away with amazing gift prizes like; micro ovens, and household refrigerators.

Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala has explained that her parents never wanted her to play football while growing up in Lagos.

“Now, what’s parody? A parody account is a type of profile on social media that is named after popular persons and used mainly for comic purposes. Twitter rules allow for parody accounts on the condition that the operator of the account indicates this on his profile page.
“For those saying why didn’t I use my dad’s name & photo, some also asked why I had to use a popular person like him but I guess the definition to parody says it all. There was a question on the TL “who else noticed Nigeria has been boring ever since Buhari became the president?”

“I felt so scared & uncomfortable cos I’ve never been arrested before my whole life. Then, an officer came in the morning with the leg cuffs like I was gonna run and chained my legs. I told him “Sir, I didn’t kill anybody, why this?” we then left for Abuja that morning by road.
“Got detained in asokoro division at first where I was slapped repeatedly as soon as I got in that Sunday night, they told me to lift my hands up, raise one leg up and start jumping around screaming “I don come” “I don come” nonstop . I was almost crying tbh, like tf?
“They call the cell name “Kalakuta republic” and the older cell mates oppress the new ones big time. Stayed for 4days til I met with the IGP and was then detained in the FCIID Abuja. Stayed one month behind bars before I was charged to court, no one understood me when I say parody.
“I’m still itching & scratching badly til now since we all cover our bodies with the same bed cover which over 500 cell mates’ have used without washing if I’m not exaggerating. A lot of insects in it which bites , didn’t sweat for months (no sun), was taken away from my family.
“Fell sick while I was behind bars, couple times. I was treated tho cos my ipo took me to the clinic once & also got drugs for me once, I wasn’t tortured by the police physically. I sat & ate with murderers which made my nightmares horrific, Got 2 square meals daily, malnourished.
“So I had to use to money to buy food since they food being provider made me purge always which I complained about. Funny enough I became the number 3 in the cell, Saw over 100 suspects leave. People with bigger cases came and went before me, terrifying.
“And no suspects is to be detained for more than 24-48 hours. It got to a point, I felt forsook but God never forsook me. I had God, my family & friends support. It reshaped my relationship with God tho. A lot of people sent money, did all in their power to get me out of the mess.
“#Freeshola also made a big impact in order to facilitate my release, Thanks to everyone who came through. I’m taking my treatments serious and I should be 100% fine real soon. Trying to feel loved again, reunite with my family & friends, get used to this outer world again.
“I’m also trying to get used to wearing different clothes again since I wore the same cloth for 80days a lot more that I can’t even say, nor type. It’s just sad tbh.
“Finally, let it be known that I defrauded nobody on here. I also in no way tried to impersonate nor defame his character. I’m not a criminal and that’s just the truth. I’m not a criminal.
“To the money my family wasted, my mental health which has been messed with, & everything I’ve lost in the process; 3months of my life, my twitter account & every other thing, I know God will restore them back. It actually feels good to be free, I’m grateful #SholaIsFree.

A Nigerian lady, identified as Suraya, has taken to Twitter to lament over her inability to get a suitor, after staying single for years.
According to Suraya, guys have been running away from her, and she doesn’t know why they are scared to talk to her.
She indicated her desire to get married soon, as she asked her fans if she isn’t beautiful enough.

Big Brother Naija housemate, Prince has said, given the chance, he will break-up Kiddwaya and Erica’s romantic relationship that’s been consistently serving rounds.
He disclosed this during his diary session on Thursday with Erica who was representing Big Brother.
Giving his reason why he wants to see the duo end their relationship, Prince said he knows Kiddwaya is not really in love with Erica, saying it is just infatuation.

Netflix has tendered an apology for the “inappropriate” marketing poster it released to promote the much antipated French movie, Cuties.
The American media service released the poster, showing the young girls of the film in suggestive dance poses.
This led to a petition in Change.org to remove Cuties from the streaming platform, calling it, “disgusting as it sexualizes an eleven-year-old for the viewing pleasure of pedophiles and also negatively influences our children.”
The petition added that there is no “need for such content in that age group, particularly when sex trafficking and pedophilia are so rampant.”
Following the criticism received over the chosen artwork, Netflix apologized for the mistake and has taken down the Cuties poster.
Netflix responded to the backlash with an apology tweet on the company’s official Twitter account.
“We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance,” Netflix shared on Twitter. “We’ve now updated the pictures and description.”. They tweeted.

A Medical Doctor identified as Drlotenna on Twitter, has taken to the platform to recount the story of a female doctor, that was beaten and stabbed by a patients father on the claim that she was wasting his child’s blood.
Drlotenna narrated the ordeal, as he discussed the “hazards” medical doctors are exposed to.

A 60-year-old alleged fake doctor, identified as Charles George, has been arrested by the police, for treating corona virus patients in Abuja.
He was arrested in his one-room apartment at Block 1, Julius Berger Junior Staff Quarters,in Kubwa, by police detectives from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory..
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria confirmed George’s arrest and described it as a major breakthrough.
Syringe (for abortion) and kidney dish, among others were recovered from the suspect. The fake doctor reportedly subjected his clients to unprofessional medical treatment which “may lead to sudden and unnatural death.”
The police however, identified George as a regular customer of the FCDA Police Station and Kubwa Area Command Headquarters. He was said to have been arrested severally, for cases involving, mixed medicine and extortion of his clients since 2016.
The Deputy Registrar and Head of the Inspectorate Department of the MDCN, Dr. Victor Gbenro speaking about the arrest, said;
“The arrest of the suspected fake medical/alternative medicine practitioner, by name Dr. Charles George, at his Kubwa premises is a major breakthrough for the MDCN under the leadership of the Registrar, Dr. Tajudeen Sanusi.
“Acting on an intelligence report from the IG intelligence team, the Inspectorate Department of the MDCN as directed by the registrar effected the successful arrest of the fake doctor, who has been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public and posing as a member of the NCDC COVID-19 team.
“The suspect is alleged to have been practising alternative medicine without registration or licence from the MDCN, which is statutorily mandated to regulate the practice of medical, dental and alternative medicine in Nigeria.
“Investigation revealed that his practice is not known or registered by the FCDA Private Health Facility Registration Agency. The police have commenced further investigation and prosecution of the suspect. This is one among the several efforts of the council at sanitising the medical profession in the country.”
Nollywood Actor, Uche Maduagwu who is popular for his controversial comments on Instagram has alleged that some Nollywood actresses use juju to hypnotize and get wealthy men.
The actor took to his Instagram account to call out two popular actresses who were arguing about the last charm they used on a wealthy man in Lekki, although he refrained from mentioning their names.
He claimed that he met them at a movie set in Lagos.
He further asserted that the reason why marriages don’t last in the Nollywood industry is because most actresses use juju to attract their husbands and on the failure to renew the charm, the effect wears off.
He wrote:

A man identified as Adewunmi Lawal, an Engineer who has been on the run after allegedly raping his neighbour’s daughter in Ogun State, has been arrested by the police.
News made rounds earlier that the 16-year-old victim was defiled after the suspect broke into their apartment shortly after her mother who is a widow, travelled to Badagry in Lagos State for prayers.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police spokesperson for Ogun state, said Adewunmi was arrested in Lagos and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
Abimbola said ;
“He was arrested two days ago. He was sighted somewhere in Lagos because he was looking for ways to persuade the parents of the girl and in the process, he went to the office of a non-governmental organisation in Lagos; he wanted the NGO to invite the victim’s mother for them to resolve.
“While he was there, we got information and quickly alerted our counterpart in Lagos that they should get him arrested for us. He was arrested at Ijaiye Ojokoro and our operatives from here went there to bring him in. As soon as we conclude investigation, he will be going to court.”
