Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe in reacting to the news of his removal from office as The Vice chancellor of University of Lagos has considered the news as illegal and cannot stand.
Recall that, The Vc was dismissed in a meeting that was chaired by the UNILAG Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN).
According to Ogundipe, his supposed removal from office is illegal and a clear violation of the University of Lagos Act.
In a statement issued to newsmen he said that;
”The attention of the University of Lagos (Unilag) Management has been drawn to a notice to the general public on the removal of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, dated Aug. 12 and signed by Oladejo Azeez, Esq, Registrar and Secretary to council.
”It states that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has been removed from office with immediate effect.
”The purported removal is an illegality and cannot stand as it is in clear violation of the University of Lagos Act as amended by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2003.
”Therefore, members of the University of Lagos community and the general public are advised to disregard the information as contained in the notice.
”Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe remains the Vice-Chancellor of University of Lagos,” he added.

A day-old-baby has been rescued by men of the Anambra state police command today, August 13.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed this to newsmen, said in the early hours of today, one Ginika Okoromike of Ozalla village Isuofia visited the Aguata police station in the company of a staff attached to Ozalla-Isuofia community health center, to lay a complaint that a day old baby girl was wrapped up in a cloth and abandoned at the corridor of her house by an unknown person.
Haruna said the police immediately visited the scene and rescued the baby. He said all efforts made to trace the mother of the baby has proved abortive.
The police spokesperson added that the baby is in good health condition and will be handed over to the Social Welfare for proper care while effort is ongoing to trace the parents in order to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
An Upper Sharia court in Kofar Kudu, Kano state sentenced a 70 year old man to death by stoning after he pleaded guilty to defiling a 12 year old girl on Wednesday, August 12.
Audu admitted during his trial that he defiled the young girl and was willing to accept the punishment of death by stoning.
The presiding judge, Abdullahi Sani Sarki Yola, noted that Islamic teachings gave Audu the chance at three court sittings to reverse his confession in order to save himself from the punishment.
Audu, nevertheless, held on to his confession that he defiled the girl and was ready for his punishment.
In related news, the Niger state police command apprehended a 60-year-old man identified as one Haruna Lawal, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in the Wushishi community in the state.
A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, stated that Haruna, a scavenger, spotted the little girl while she was hawking fish in the area.
He allegedly offered her a N100 note and then took her into an uncompleted building where he had canal knowledge of her.
Earlier this week, Mercy Eke, former BBNaija housemate and winner of the pepper-dem edition, was in the news for the derogatory comments she made about viewers of the show.

Kwara state first lady, Dr. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, earlier Thursday morning revealed that Risikat Azeez, the Kwara woman who went viral because of her and her daughters’ blue eyes, has asked to be reunited with her husband, Wasiu Omo-Dada.
Mrs Abdulrasaq who was one of the first to offer a helping hand to the Risikat and her children, disclosed this in an interview with TVC this morning.
“A lot of people have come on board, not just myself. I think the whole of Kwara is very happy with the story and with how things are turning out for Riskat and her children. I know you are probably aware that her husband has also come out now and he has come to our office and we have had a conversation with him and Risikat herself has said she wants to be reunited with him.” the first lady said
Riskiat went viral earlier this month after a Twitter user shared her story on social media — Risikat in an interview, said her husband walked out on her and their daughters because of their blue-eyes.
The husband however granted an interview about two days ago where he denied abandoning them because of the color of their eyes.
He said he loves his wife and children and that he had no problem with the color of her eyes. According to him, things turned sour in their marriage after Risikat became “wayward” and wasn’t “submissive” to him.

I was determined to serve one of the greatest leaders in Africa. So I positioned myself front row. I sat in the seat reserved for a @thesundaytimes journalist – my apologies your correspondent arrived late.
I made eye contact with Mr Olusegun the entire event. From start to finish. Once the event was over. Guests and fellow panelists wanted to take pictures and engage with Pres. Obasanjo.
I stormed onto the stage and said, excuse me: “No more pictures! Can we get him into a private room, with a glass of water? In 10 minutes he’ll resume to discuss matters and entertain the press.”
He followed me & when we got into the room he asked: “Who’s daughter are you?” I responded “My father isn’t anyone you know. He’s Just a normal Nigerian citizen who relocated to the UK for a better life.”
He chuckled and said “so how can I help you?” I said “well I’m your new PA. I’m going to serve you.” I’ve been serving him since that date.

Suspected armed robbers who murdered and buried a serving police officer in a shallow grave in Imo state, have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command.
Imo police commissioner, Isaac Akinmoyede who paraded the suspects before newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Owerri on Wednesday 12th of August, stated that the suspects identified as Chinedu, 23; Chinnor Amadi, 27; Eze Odu, aka Ezebu N’afor, 25; and Amadi Francis, 20 would be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land.
Akinmoyede said,
“On July 31, 2020, around 11.45am, SARS operatives on a tip-off intelligence arrested four suspects. The suspects are one Chinedu, 23; Chinnor Amadi, 27; Eze Odu, aka Ezebu N’afor,25; and Amadi Francis, 20, all from Ihie, Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.
“The prime suspect, Chinedu, was brought in with multiple injuries on his body. The suspects, who are strong members of the notorious outlawed late Chijioke Onyeze, aka Bracket’s gang, have confessed to how they murdered a serving policeman and buried him in a shallow grave.
“Three suspects were earlier arrested by the SARS operatives and are currently undergoing investigation. It is important to note that on July 6, 2020, the group killed one Obioma Iheka, murdered one Maduakolam Nwoguzo on May 14 and one Alozie Amadi on July 4, 2020, among others.
“Efforts are being intensified to recover their operational weapons and arrest others fleeing gang members.
“Investigation is still ongoing and further developments will be communicated.”
The driver and owner of the vehicle detained over the death of Nigeria’s first ever female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kaduna state.
The brothers, Nehemiah and David Adejo pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge and one-count charge respectively pressed on them by the prosecution counsel.
Nehemiah, the driver was accused of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention, driving without drivers licence and driving without authorisation of the owner; and David, one count charge of negligent conduct while causing danger to person and property.
Nehemiah’s counsel, Aliyu Omahi, argued for the bail of his client, stating that he was a first-time offender and had been detained for four weeks.
Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Benjamin, who presided over the case granted the defendant bail to the sum of N1 million each after listening to the arguments of the counsel, with an order to present two sureties who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and possess bank verification number (BVN).
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case till August 24 and 25.

In other related news, the staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Chidinma Ajoku who died on July 26 after a container fell on a commercial bus she was in, has been laid to rest.
Ajoku and her friends were going home from work when she faced her untimely death.

A female passenger has called out the driver of a ride hailing app for stroking his penis while she was on a trip in his car.
The lady via a Twitter account shared a screenshot of the driver’s profile on the ride hailing app, tagging him a bastard.
After the tweet was shared, folks on Twitter questioned the account asking the handler what went down… The twitter account then shared a video showing the sexual assault a female passenger was subjected to during the ride in his car in Abuja.
“Don’t do that, don’t do that” the woman could be heard in the video warning the driver during the ride.
The camera then zeros in on the man’s crotch showing him holding his naked penis in his hand.
“You’ve been touching me since, and now you’re trying to jerk off in my front”, the distressed passenger could be heard saying in the video.
Some Twitter users have criticized the woman for remaining in the car while the cab driver kept on masturbating. Others pointed out that it was a risky situation and if she had lashed out, he might either have knock her out, kidnapped her, or cause an accident that might have killed her.

Nigerians have tagged the ride hailing app that the man works for, asking them to take action.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerian youths to take over the leadership of the country from the older people, who are currently in power.
According to The Nation, Obasanjo spoke on Wednesday while delivering a keynote address at a virtual interactive session with youths to mark this year’s International Youth Day.
Obasanjo said:
“Unless you squeeze out those who are in office and those who want to remain in office perpetually, some after the age of 80, they will not want to be out.
The type of change I am talking about, that I believe we can all embark upon, is to subscribe into the constitution of political parties in favour of youth. Or if you like it, you call it affirmative action in favour of youths.
For instance, if you say, in the constitution of a political party, not less than 50 per cent of those who hold executive office within the party will be less than 40 years of age.
You’re just making sure that people that are 40 years of age will hold 50 per cent of executive office within the political party.
You can even go beyond that and say that people who will be put up for election, not less than 50 per cent of them, will be less than 40 years of age. That’s affirmative action. That’s positive discrimination in favour of youths.

Nigerian media personality, Stephanie Coker, is celebrating her 3rd wedding anniversary with her husband, Olumide Aderinokun and she took to her instagram page to share a lovely post.
The beautiful media personality expressed how blessed she is to be with her husband as she referred to him as her ‘soulmate’ and assured him that she will still be with him even after death.
Coker shared lovely photos of herself and husband from their wedding and reckoned that it takes understanding for marriage to work.

Popular Nigerian investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has advised Nigerians to drop the culture of getting married.
According to the controversial journalist, marriage is the biggest scam in Nigeria.
Kemi admonished single Nigerians to stay single, and suggests that EFCC, the Nigerian law enforcement agency should arrest married people before yahoo boys.
The 56-year-old in a tweet disclosed that she made the decision to never get married when she was 27.
She highlighted the dangers of getting married, adding that in marriages married men kill wives, frequent prostitution and keep side chicks.
Her tweet reads ;
“Open your eyes! Stay single! Never been married, never will. I said this at 27yo. 30 yrs later my classmates are DIVORCED or on 4th husband like Joy Nunieh. Many married men kill wives too, frequent Prostitutes, side chick. Dump that marriage culture, buy a sex toy and LIVE.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, has joined the increasing number of personalities to call for the scrapping of Big Brother Naija reality TV show.
The monarch stated that BBNaija misrepresents “the goodness and integrity of the Nigerian youths”. He instead advocated for a new show that will be more beneficial to the young populace.
The Ooni spoke at an interaction with youths who visited him in Ile-Ife as part of the celebration of International Youth Day.
While describing the youths as the country’s untapped immeasurable wealth and resources and urged them to take leadership roles, the Ooni also knocked young Nigerians for misplacing their priorities.
“Nigerian youths are fond of accusing and abusing our leaders. Stop abusing them. Contribute your own quota. Let’s wear our thinking caps and begin to act like the real future leaders that we are.
“In the last general election, the total number of votes cast was around 27 million while over 170 million people voted during the 2019 Big Brother Naija reality show. “This is a practical reality of who Nigerian youths are and where our priorities lie as Nigerians.
“The funny side in all of these is that we still go to bed, have a good sleep and wake up with the hope to meet a Nigeria we didn’t create.
Nigerian Youths! Nigerian Youths!! Nigerians Youths!!! Unfortunately, every time I talk about this kind of attitude, everyone just laugh and move on. What kind of nation are we building? “When people say this country, or what kind of country is this, they are indirectly saying these people – it is the people that make a country; so what kind of Nigerian youths are we?”, Ooni asked.
The revered monarch went further to suggest a new reality TV show, which will project the country’s values and tradition.
He called on leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria to work out modalities for the organizing of a show which will be called; The Big Nigeria Reality Show.
