“Izuchukwu shot himself dead in a suspected case of suicide over an allegation of sexual assault” US police
The US police have reported that the young Nigerian man who allegedly committed suicide after being accused of sexual assault (ICYMI) died by self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, United States, the Nigerian entrepreneur with full name, Izuchukwu Madubueze shot himself dead over an allegation of sexual assault.
A Twitter influencer named Nanichi Anese, had on June 29, 2020, accused the 23-year-old creative designer of harassment – not rape as widely claimed by friends who were angered by Izu’s demise.
Izu reached out to Nani to find out who he had harrassed but she had sworn to protect the ladies who opened up to her so she refused to release the lady’s identity.
Izu was said to have been bombarded by calls from his friends, who queried him about the allegation.
On July 17, Izu, an Anambra State indigene later tweeted through Crowdfire app that Izu had killed himself.
He killed himself on July 16 but the tweet appeared on Twitter on July 17. Crowdfire app allows users to schedule their posts.
Punch contacted the Tampa Police Department for confirmation of the suicide and an officer, who did not identify himself, said there was a case of “shooting” which was handled by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Public Information Office of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office told the publication that Izu shot himself on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
“Izuchukwu Madubueze was the victim of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound on July 16, 2020. The case is open and active and no further information will be provided at this time,” Deputy Travis Sibley, a spokesman for the office said.
Izu’s family, in a statement on Wednesday, expressed sadness at the death, describing it as shocking.
The statement read in part,
“Sincerely, a part of us has been chipped away forever. Izu was a truly inspiring and kind-hearted young man, who always tried to positively impact the lives of everyone he came across. He was accused of ‘non-physical sexual assault’ and his name added to an unauthorised sex offenders/rape list.
“Pleading his innocence, Izu tried his best to reach out to his anonymous accuser and the peddler of this list, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. He battled with the unimaginable pain of seeing his credible name and brand, which he laboured to build for six years, go to waste over these questionable allegations, which go against his family and societal values. Broken by the stigma of these events, he chose to depart this world.”
Whether Izu was guilty of harassment or not is still being widely debated on Twitter.
Nani was outed after Izu’s suicide and she released screenshots of a chat between Izu and an anonymous lady to back her claim that the lady who reached out to her was harrassed by the deceased.
This new bit of information divided Twitter users as some took her side while some were still against her.
Some have said that the fact that an accused person committed suicide doesn’t prove innocence. Others have said that it should be a crime for individuals to publish names of people who have not been convicted by a court as sexual offenders.

Couple win battle to name their son ‘Lucifer’
A New Zealand couple from Chesterfield, Derbyshire have won the battle to name their four-month-old son “Lucifer” after a registrar tried stopping them from choosing the name which is often used as a moniker for the Devil.
Dan, a plant hire company boss had lodged a complaint over the way himself and his wife were treated after visiting the council office for the registration following its reopening after months of lockdown.
He said,
“We were really excited to go and get him registered but the woman looked at us in utter disgust.
“She told us he would never be able to get a job, and that teachers wouldn’t want to teach him.
“I tried to explain that we are not religious people, and Lucifer in Greek means ‘light-bringer’ and ‘morning’ but she wouldn’t listen.
“She even told us that it was illegal to name a child that in New Zealand and that maybe we could name him something else but refer to him as Lucifer at home.”
Following the couple’s insistence on naming their son “Lucifer”, they were asked to leave the room while the official checked if she was allowed to register the boy with the Satanic title.
Dan added:
“We were gobsmacked with her behaviour.
“Eventually she did it, but it was through gritted teeth.
“Honestly, we just thought it was a nice name . . . a unique one. We didn’t expect to get so much grief about it.”
New Zealand, which has tougher restrictions on naming children, has Lucifer on a list of banned names published in 2013, along with “Christ” and royal titles such as “King”, “Prince” and “Princess”. A spokesperson for Derbyshire County Council said the registrar had done the right thing by raising her concerns about the couple’s choice of name before allowing it.
The spokesperson said,
“Our registrar felt it was her duty to ensure the couple were aware the name Lucifer had negative connotations and that their son may encounter issues with the name through his life due to its associations.”
The registrar contacted the General Register Office for further guidance, and an official at the General Register Office agreed she had acted correctly in advising the parents “with the best interests of the child in mind”.
The spokesperson further said,
“Despite the advice, the couple said they still wished to proceed and name their son Lucifer, and the registrar continued with the registration.
“We apologise if they were offended but it is the job of our registrars to advise in these matters as sometimes people are not aware of certain meanings or associations around certain names.”

Two best friends given low survival rate at birth graduate high school together
Two best friends have graduated from high school years after doctors told their parents they would have a 2 percent survival rate at birth.
The boys, Odin and Jordan, were born with brain damage. The two best friends, who both have special needs, grew up side-by-side in Tyler, Texas.
Doctors thought they wouldn’t live very long. It was revealed that doctors said they had a low survival rate and even if they survived, they would be in a vegetative stage. However, they beat the odds.
Earlier this month, the two 18-year-olds received their high school diplomas together.
The news of the boys’ high school graduation went viral after Reddit user Tim Frost posted a side by side photo of his son Odin and Odin’s best friend Jordan on their first day of school and on graduation day.
He wrote: “My son and his best friend, both told their survival rate would be around 2%, never walk, and live in a vegetative state if they made it past 7 years, both walked the stage and graduated tonight!!! (Left pic is from the first day of school. The right is from graduation this evening)”
After the post went viral, Tim Frost – Odin’s dad – was invited for several interviews.
He explained that the boys met at Wayne D. Boshears Center for Exceptional Programs when they were just 3 years old.
“Their very first day of school, they were put in the same classroom,” Tim Frost, Odin’s dad, told CBS News on Wednesday. “They pretty much had this immediate bond. Neither one of them could speak, but wherever the other one was, they were always together.”
He told FOX 5 DC that the pandemic has cancelled Odin’s birthday and graduation ceremonies but positive and supportive comments from the community have lifted his spirits. He also hopes the post will reach Odin’s favorite band, The Roots.
Nollywood actress narrates how BBNaija’s Prince paid for her hotel room for her without asking for her number
A Nollywood actress, Elenora Amarachi Paul, has given the narrative of how Big Brother Naija: Lockdown housemate, Prince Enwerem helped her on a day she was stranded in Lekki, Lagos.
According to Amarachi, she was almost harassed at a house party she attended because she didn’t want to sleep with one of the guys in attendance and she couldn’t get a cab home because she was late.
But luckily for her, Prince who saw her stranded asked her to join his Uber and when she told her she was going to mainland part of Lagos, he helped her pay N20k for a night in a hotel and left without asking for her number.

“Hushpuppi has not been released” – Lawyer reveals [Details]
Lawyer to alleged Internet fraudster and Instagram socialite, Hushpuppi, Gal Pissetzky has revealed that his client is yet to be released.
Pissetzky revealed in a statement that the embattled socialite was only transferred to another prison but not released as widely speculated. The lawyer also confirmed that he is still representing Hushpuppi.
Hushpuppi’s lawyer’s disclosure comes after some hours after reports made the rounds on Wednesday night that the socialite had been released as his details on the Bureau of Prisons showed he was no longer in the prison.

Men of the Rivers state police command have arrested 31-year-old Musa Abubakar, pictured above, who confessed to raping his nine-year-old stepdaughter anytime his wife refuses to have sex with him.
Abubakar who is from Jigawa state but resides in Rupokwu in Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers state, told newsmen when he was paraded on Wednesday, July 22, that he decided to rape his stepdaughter as his wife always complained of weakness and refused to have sex with him.
Narrating her ordeal in the hands of her stepfather, the victim said Abubakar started defiling her at the age of four by sticking a finger in her private part, adding that she was too afraid to tell her mother because the first time she did, the mother beat her up.
“I told my mother the truth and I was examined by neighbors before the matter was reported to the Police,” the victim stated
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, said Abubakar will be charged to court as soon as investigations are over.

Reports about 25 teenagers arrested by the police for allegedly shooting pornographic videos in Kenya’s Kakamega County may be false.

Police in Fadama in the Greater Accra Region have arrested four suspected car snatchers who attacked and robbed a taxi driver of his vehicle in Suhum, in the Eastern Region, on July 2, 2016.
The four youngsters were however picked up at Kokomba Market in Accra around 11:00 p.m. upon a tip-off.
The suspects had then offered to sell the newly registered taxi cab, with registration number, GG 2131-16, as a scrap at the market.
The move raised the suspicion of some members of the community who reported them.
Police have identified the four suspected car snatchers as David Asare, aged 19 years; Richard Awotey, 18 years; Gideon Addo, 18 years, and Millicent Adjatey an 18-year-old Form Two student of a Methodist senior high in the Eastern Region.
David, Richard and Gideon are all Suhum-based taxi drivers, Police say.

A Nigerian man who graduated with a third class from the University of Ibadan has taken to social media to share his story after he graduated from the University of Plymouth with a first class.
Oluwadara said he didn’t give his best while schooling in UI and, as a result, he had to come back for an extra semester after his mates had graduated.
He said he found it hard to get jobs because he graduated with a third class.

Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy sent his condolences to Ghanaian Instagram socialite, Shatta Bandle who lost his father recently.

Nigerian man causes stir online for saying many billionaires in Onitsha are richer than Jeff Bezos
A Nigerian man on Twitter, Dehkunle has opined on the microblogging platform that Forbes richest man and Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos is not the richest man in the world, as there are a lot of billionaires in Onitsha, Anambra state who are richer than he is.
Dehkunle, in his tweet, said that there are many billionaires in Onitsha main market who are richer than the Amazon founder. His stance comes right after news made the rounds that Bezos added $13 billion to his net worth on Monday, the largest single-day jump for an individual since the Bloomberg Billionaires Index was created in 2012.
“There are many billionaires in Onitsha main market that are richer than Bezos.” Dehkunle wrote.
Dehkunle’s statement has since sparked a huge debate online as a number of people tried to shut him up, claiming his stance is faux while another group tried to breakdown the financial possibility of his claim being a reality.

Thieves steal entire building in broad daylight; Here’s how they did it
A surprising report that’s currently serving rounds is that of thieves who stole an entire building from the grounds of a sports centre in broad daylight.
According to the Police, the 33ft (10m) long wooden hut was removed piece by piece by two men over a six-hour period and loaded into a white van.
The thieves reportedly made numerous trips to the site on Chanterlands Avenue in Hull, England between 09:00 and 15:00 BST on 15 July.
They continued to dismantle the hut despite being challenged by staff, according to Humberside Police.
In an appeal for information, the force said,
“The incident was reported to us once it was established that the men did not have the authority to remove the building which is a valuable resource for the sports centre and well used by the local community.”

Nigerian man reveals shocking response he got from somebody he helped financially
A Nigerian businessman has taken to his social media page to share what happened after he aided someone financially.
According to Twitter user, Faruk Oyebanjo, he rendered help to someone he barely knows and rather than the person showing gratitude for the gesture, the person told him it was insufficient.
A puzzled Faruk then took to his page to ask his followers if the person’s response was actually acceptable given the fact that they barely know each other.
Faruk wrote,
Is this an okay reply from someone you dashed money or am I tripping? Mind you, we don’t know like that!
His tweet has caused a lot of reactions from Nigerian netizens with many of them saying the response was a bit rude and uncalled for, whether or not the help rendered was sufficient.

Ekiti Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.
The Governor made the announcement on his official twitter handle this morning, July 22.
