The Twitter accounts of some major companies and individuals have been compromised in one of the most widespread and confounding hacks the social networking platform has ever seen, all in service of promoting a bitcoin scam that appears to be earning its creator quite a chunk of money.

The chaos started when Elon Musk’s Twitter account was seemingly compromised by a hacker intent on using it to run a bitcoin scam.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ account was also seemingly accessed by the same scammer, who posted a similar message with an identical bitcoin wallet address.

Both accounts continued to post new tweets promoting the scam almost as fast as they were deleted, and Musk’s account in particular appears to still be under the control of the hacker as of 5:56PM ET.

A spokesperson for Gates tells Recode’s Teddy Schleifer,

“We can confirm that this tweet was not sent by Bill Gates. This appears to be part of a larger issue that Twitter is facing. Twitter is aware and working to restore the account.”

Shortly after the initial wave of tweets from Gates and Musk’s accounts, the accounts of Apple, Uber, former President Barack Obama, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, hip-hop mogul Kanye West, and former New York City mayor and billionaire Mike Bloomberg, among others, were also compromised and began promoting the scam.

It’s unclear how widespread the operation is, but it appears to be affecting numerous major companies and extremely high-profile individuals.

That suggests someone, or a group, has either found a severe security loophole in Twitter’s login process or third-party app or that the perpetrator has somehow gained access to a Twitter employee’s admin privileges.

Twitter acknowledged the situation after more than an hour of silence, writing on its support account,

“We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter. We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly.”

The company also took the unprecedented measure of preventing verified accounts from even tweeting at all starting some time around 6PM ET. This would seem to be the first time Twitter has ever done this in the company’s history.

A popular Nigerian Facebook blogger has outed controversial socialite, Bobrisky for presenting himself as a woman to enjoy the benefits of being a woman while still also relying on “his male privilege to get away with so many things that a woman wouldn’t.”

Mavis Ishanqueen accused the transvestite of slut-shaming women and making a mockery of them while making money off being like them.

She went on to add that he talks about suffering menstrual pain and experiencing pregnancy thereby making a mockery of the women/girls who actually go through that and miss “7 days of school every month.”

She also said his latest pregnancy stunt is an insult to women who are trying hard to conceive but cannot.

She said that at the end of the day, Bobrisky can go back to being a man after benefitting from pretending to be a woman, but the same can’t be said for women.

She wrote,

“Bobrisky is starting to cross the line with his antics. He’s starting to make a mockery of women and their struggles for respect within the society.

“For the majority of Nigerians, Bob is nothing but a man who likes playing dress up. They do not take him seriously. Bob says that she’s a woman and wants to be addressed as a “she”. However Bob does not respect women. Bob himself constantly relies on his male privilege to get away with so many things that a woman wouldn’t.

“Bob slutshames women. After Bob has published his latest video about doing runs, hooking up with married men and having sex in god knows where, he’ll still come online and call a woman ashewo and olosho.

“A woman would know better than to publish a video with such content online. But Bob is a man. Men are not called ashewos. Only women are.

“Bob jokes about having periods, but Bob has never had a period in his life. He doesn’t know that for millions of women, their period is a time of the month they anticipate with horror. Tossing in bed, rolling on the floor, stooling and vomiting. Millions of girls around the world skip 7 days of school every month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. Thousands of women have opted for a hysterectomy to free themselves of horrible period cramps. Women ingest a huge amount of hormones every year to either regulate, suspend or ease their periods. But Bob doesn’t know and doesn’t care.

Suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has said he never stole, diverted or converted recovered funds for his private use while he held sway as the head of the antigraft agency.

Magu stated this in an interview with The Nation shortly after he was granted bail and released from detention after 10 days.

Magu said the allegations of corruption against him are just to tarnish his image and that of the EFCC.

“They are nonsense. They are mere trump up allegations to tarnish my image and that of the EFCC. I did not steal or divert or convert funds to private use. I read the allegations and I was shocked.

“I thank Nigerians for their support, they should not be discouraged. I am happy to be back, I believe the war against corruption is winnable.”

Speaking further, he vowed to continue to wage a war against corruption.

“As for me, I will forever wage war against corruption. I urge Nigerians to continue to support the fight against corruption. They should not give up on the fight because corruption kills a nation faster than any other thing.

It is not a personal fight. Whether I am EFCC Chairman or not, the anti-corruption war must continue.

What I have gone through is a case of dog eats dog but I see it as one of those risks of the job. But we must not give up in any way.”

Magu was apprehended on Monday, July 6 and made to face the Justice Ayo Salami-led presidential panel following allegations of corruption leveled against him by the Minister of Aviation and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

A quite kindhearted proprietress, Adekunbi Akin-Taylor, of Charlie Marie Group of Schools, Likosi in Sagamu, Ogun state, has offered assistance to parents in her school.

During this pandemic times, when business owners and companies are downsizing their staff due to lack of funds, Akin-Taylor was spotted distributing food to parents and paying salaries.

According to a report by The Nation, Akin gave out palliatives to 27 of her workers and 100 parents whose children are her students.

She further mentioned that some of her students often come to school hungry and giving out the relief materials was her own way of contributing to their parents’ welfare in this trying time.

Each package which was distributed contained rice, beans, indomie, oil, salt, biscuit, sweet, and garri.

She said she paid her workers full salary in March and 60% and 70% in April and May respectively.

Olajumoke Amos, a parent, thanked the proprietor for taking care of their needs, saying that despite the fact the woman is not in the country, she still extended her love to them.

Suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has been released from police custody after 10 days in detention.

Premium Times and other frontline national dailies have reported that Magu was released earlier today, Wednesday July 15, 2020.

Recall that the embattled former EFCC boss was apprehended last week Monday and has been detained by the police since then.

He has been appearing before a presidential panel investigating the allegations of corruption and insubordination leveled against him by Abubakar Malami, Nigeria’s justice minister.

Reports also had it that Magu was probed over 380 houses, 7 crude oil-laden ships, N37billion assets.

Social media influencer, Adedamola “Adeherself” Adewale, has been granted a N500,000 bail by an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

The social media sensation, who had been in the custody of the EFCC following her arraignment in court on July 7, is facing a charge of possession of fraudulent documents

Miss Adewale was arrested following intelligence received by the EFCC on the activities of some young men allegedly involved in internet fraud in the Lekki axis of Lagos.

In a ruling on Wednesday, July 15, Justice Sherifat Solebo also ordered that Adewale must provide two sureties with reliable means of income which would be verified by the court.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 5 for substantive hearing.

Manchester United and England striker, Marcus Rashford is set to become the youngest recipient of an honorary degree from The University of Manchester for summer charity campaign against child poverty.

The 22-year-old footballer raised over £20 million ($25m) to aid vulnerable people and children during the Coronavirus lockdown and in June was widely praised for writing an emotional letter to the UK government sharing how he survived starvation as a youth while urging the government to continue the policy of allowing children benefit from free school meals.

12-year-old girl married off to an old man in delta state, rescued (Video)

A 12-year-old girl who was reportedly married off to a quite aged man in Delta State has finally been rescued by a good Samaritan.

According to a man who shared the video of the incident online, the old man took the young girl from Delta State and later relocated to Edo State.

He revealed that the old man claimed the little girl’s father gave his consent to the marriage and permitted him to take custody of his daughter.

Sharing the news, the young man identified as Victory demanded justice for the little girl as he said he is taking the old man and his accomplice to the station for further action.

31-year-old man arrested for allegedly defiling four year old girl in Anambra

The Anambra state police command have reportedly apprehended a 31-year-old man, identified as Sunday Eyim, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old minor in Awka, the state’s capital on Saturday, July 11.

According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, Sunday allegedly defiled the minor in his room.

SP Haruna revealed that men of the Central Police station in Awka were alerted and he was picked up on Monday, July 13.

He further stated that the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, has directed that the case be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a discreet investigation after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.

He went on to warn members of the public, particularly parents/guardians, to be watchful, and caution their children against strangers and also encourage them to report any person making sexual advances or harassment on them to enable the parents to take proactive measures.

Popular American singer, John Legend, recently admitted to cheating in past relationships until he married Chrissy Teigen.

The 41-year-old opened up on his past lifestyle on Monday when he appeared on ‘Armchair Expert’, a podcast hosted by Dax Shepard, a US media personality.

During the programme, Shepard, who is married to Kristen Bell, had revealed he was unfaithful in his previous relationships.

In his reaction, the John also admitted he had similar experience when he was much younger.

His words ;

“I think what happened for me, you go through a lot of your life in your teens and I was younger than everybody in high school and college, and so I just didn’t get a lot of girls,” he said.

“When I started to get that attention, I loved it. I escaped ‘technically cheating’ by keeping my relationship ill-defined. But it was really cheating. I definitely was dishonest and selfish. It was happening before I was famous.”

“At a certain point, you just realize you’re happier being honest,” Legend said. “You’re happier being faithful and being in love with one person.

“At a certain point, I just decided that person was Chrissy Teigen. I decided I wasn’t gonna mess with somebody else anymore.”

Actress and former Big Brother Naija housemate Venita has revealed that she does not regret divorcing her husband.

Venita said that when she just got married and had a baby, she lost her identity in the name of keeping her home and trying to keep everything together.

She also revealed that she wasn’t working but was at home taking care of her children. The beautiful woman noted that the change from being a new bride to a mum was extreme for her and she was in that space for a long time.

According to her, the life of being a stay at home mum didn’t make her happy until it got to a point when her children were going to the toilet themselves.

“When you become a new mum, it is very easy to lose your identity in the name of trying to build her home and keep it together. I really did a full 360, I wasn’t working in front of the lens. I was really domesticated. The switch was quite extreme and I was in that space for a long time between 5 to 7 years or so. It wasn’t making me happy. it wasn’t fulfilling for me it wasn’t healthy for me.

“It got to a point where my kids were going to the toilet on their own and I’m like, I need to find something to do. What happened to me? I needed to find myself apart from all other bunch of things that might make you want to file for divorce. It’s not an easy decision to make to decide that this is not good for you but it takes a very strong mind to do that so I was very determined and I don’t regret it at all.”

A Nigerian man is currently being dragged on social media for his despicable comment over the tragic death of flying officer Tolulope Arotile, who is Nigeria’s first-ever female combat helicopter pilot.

It was earlier reported that late Arotile died at the age of 23 years after sustaining head injuries from a road traffic accident at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Kaduna.

While a lot of Nigerians are still mourning the tragic demise of the young and vibrant lady, a certain man thought it sensible to say it’s what she gets for indulging in “gender equality bs”.

The man, a Twitter user with the handle, @OlisaTheGreat, instigated in a tweet that Arotile wouldn’t have met this fate if she’d “stayed at home with her husband”.

He wrote in a tweet,

In a new video that’s begun making the rounds on the internet, a physically challenged man was spotted driving a tricycle with one hand and one leg in the city of Lagos.

As seen in the video, the physically impaired man who is without a right hand, uses his right leg to alternate the use of a right hand on the vehicle’s steering.

There’s always been the belief that Nollywood veteran, Pete Edochie played a major role in his son, Yul Edochie‘s movie career path but there’s now been doubts after the 38 year old politician revealed recently that stars like Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ramsey Nouah, Desmond Elliot and many others helped his career.

In a recent tweet on his social media page, the actor who went down memory lane to recount his days of little beginnings in his acting career, listed out the names of the people in the industry who helped shape his acting career.

These names listed by the actor, a father of four includes RMD, Ramsey Nouah, Desmond Elliot, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezuruonye, Nonso Diobi and others. Edochie noted that they all have his respect. Missing on the list however, is his dad, Pete Edochie, a Nollywood veteran who’s starred in a handful of Nollywood blockbusters.

A couple have become a viral sensation on social media after revealing the adversaries they had to endure before finally welcoming a child.

The proud new father took to his Twitter page to share a photo of their newborn baby while revealing the hardships himself and his spouse had to go through before having that child.

A Nigerian lady identified as Emenike Ogwo Mary has finally welcomed her bundle of joy in triple folds as she recently became of mother of triplets.

Chidimma janefrances ezeh, a friend to the new mother of three, shared the good news on her page and it was met with positive reaction.
