Two Nigerians arrested for trafficking 39 Nigerians to Ghana for cybercrime
At least 39 Nigerian victims of human trafficking have been rescued with two suspects —Paul Okafor and Duru Favour— who are also Nigerians, arrested by the police in Ghana’s Central Region.
A statement from the Central Region Police Command reads,
“On July 12, 2020, upon information received from an informant, the Winneba District Police Commander dispatched a Police Patrol team to Gomoa Pomadze where they met 3 Ghanaians in the company of a 21-year-old Nigerian, Charles Ikorohk.
Charles told the team that he arrived into the country from Nigeria to visit a friend but couldn’t trace him and got stranded.”
DSP Irene Oppong, the Central Regional Police Spokesperson, revealed that Charles told the team that he met one Uzo at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange area who later introduced him to a Nigerian, Arisuezo, who kept him in a walled house together with other young Nigerians who were locked up in a room, prevented from leaving the compound and subjected to other inhuman treatment as well as engaging in cybercrime.
He however managed to escape on 12/7/20 when he was asked to weed the compound of the house and their supervisors went out with one of the victims to a Mobile money vendor to withdraw cash fraudulently received.
DSP Irene Oppong indicated that the victims were brought in by their masters from Nigeria to engage in cybercrimes and were given targets to reach but were abused if they fail to meet their target.
She added that one of the suspects, Michael Arisuezo, is currently on the run calling on the general public to provide information leading to his arrest.
The Regional Police Command explained that 36 laptops were also retrieved from the house while the owner of the house where the Nigerians were kept is on police enquiry bail.
The 39 victims have been handed over to the Central Regional Anti Human Trafficking Unit and are currently kept at a shelter centre.

60-year-old allegedly rapes eight year old girl after luring her with N100
The Niger state police command apprehended a 60-year-old man identified as one Haruna Lawal, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in the Wushishi community in the state.
A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, stated that Haruna, a scavenger, spotted the little girl while she was hawking fish in the area.
He allegedly offered her a N100 note and then took her into an uncompleted building where he had canal knowledge of her.
Wasiu said during interrogation, Haruna confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
In other related news, a teenager who was gang-raped by 4 men after she moved to Lagos in search of greener pastures tested positive for COVID-19.

A Nigerian Facebook user, with the name Bede Nnamdi Nwulu, on the social networking platform has given his stance on the polygamous nature of men.
According to Bede, there’s no man who can stick to only one woman for more than a year without “tasting another woman.”
Taking to his Facebook page to make the post which has now caused a mild stir on social media, the gentleman wrote,
“Ladies… Don’t let anyone deceive you… no man can stick to only one woman for more than a year without tasting another woman.”

EFCC urges court to deny popular Instagram socialite, Adeherself bail
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has urged an Ikeja Special Offences Court to deny popular Instagram socialite, Adedamola “Adeherself” Adewale bail.
Lead prosecuting counsel for the anti-graft agency, Mr. Samuel Daji made the plea on Monday, July 13, during Adewale’s bail hearing on a charge of possession of fraudulent documents.
“I urge the court to refuse the bail of the defendant and order accelerated hearing,” Daji said.
Before the bail hearing, the defence counsel, Mr. Tunde Salami had applied to the court to grant bail on liberal terms to Adewale who had been remanded in EFCC’s custody since 7th of July.
Following the submissions of the defence and prosecuting counsel, Justice Sherifat Solebo adjourned the case till Wednesday, July 15, for ruling on the bail application.
Adeherself was arrested last month following intelligence received by the Commission on the activities of some young men allegedly involved in internet fraud in the Lekki axis of Lagos State.
She was recently arraigned on a one-count charge of possession of fraudulent documents.

The Coronavirus Pandemic Is Accelerating And Getting Worse – WHO Warns
WHO, director-general, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and World Health Organisation has warned that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is “accelerating and getting worse” as lockdown measures are being relaxed in several countries in the world.
He said the Coronavirus cases were increasing drastically, with almost 12million confirmed infections since the pandemic first began in China back in December.
Speaking at the member state briefing on the Covid-19 pandemic evaluation, he said:
“The virus has upended health systems in some of the world’s wealthiest nations, while some countries that have mounted a successful response have been of modest means.
“We know that when countries take a comprehensive approach based on fundamental public health measures such as find, isolate, test and treat cases, and trace and quarantine contacts, the outbreak can be brought under control.
“But in most of the world, the virus is not under control. It is getting worse.
“More than 11.8 million cases of Covid-19 have now been reported to WHO. More than 544,000 lives have been lost.
“And the pandemic is still accelerating. The total number of cases has doubled in the last six weeks.”

Alleged Nigerian fraudster, Ramon Abbas A.K.A Hushpuppi is reported to have been denied bail in the United States in spite of his lawyer, Gal Pissetzky insisting that his job as an Instagram celebrity pays for his expenditures.

Nigerians drag Pastor Adeboye for saying despite how powerful his wife is, she is still submissive to him
Yesterday, Monday the 13th of July, was Redeemed Christian Church of God leader, Pastor EA Adeboye’s wife, Foluke Adeboye’s birthday and the clergyman took to his social media page to celebrate his spouse and companion of over 50 years.
Celebrating her, the pastor said there’s so many things young brides can learn from her. He went on to say that despite being a powerful woman who gives out instructions to people, she still cooks his meals and serves him herself and is quite submissive to him in other things.

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and wife recover from COVID-19
Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife and daughter who previously tested positive for COVID-19 have all recovered from the disease.
The governor Okowa on Wednesday, July 1, confirmed that he and his wife had contracted the deadly coronavirus disease.
On recovering from the deadly virus, the he announced this news on his official and verified Twitter page that both himself and the first lady of the state are continuing with their self-isolation. That was after one of his daughters also tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease.

Lady posts fiancé photo on Facebook, asks anyone who has a claim to him to indicate before it’s too late
A Ugandan lady recently took to her facebook page to show off her betrothed and also added that whoever has a claim to him should speak now or forever hold their peace.
According to the lady, the man in question is a Ugandan named Jonathan Katamba. She added that he is the last born of four children and he has shown his interest to marry her.
Sharing the photo of her man, she wrote ;
“Hey people, his name is Jonathan Katamba, the last born of four, the most amazingly faithful surveyor, property seller and manager I know in Uganda. He says he wants to marry me. If anyone objects to this, speak now,” she posted.

Hushpuppi denied bail in the United States
Embattled Nigerian socialite, Ramon Abbas A.K.A Hushpuppi has reportedly been denied bail in the United States in spite of his lawyer, Gal Pissetzky insisting that his job as an Instagram celebrity paid for the $10,000 monthly rent on his luxury Dubai flat.
According to reports, Hushpuppi’s lawyers had applied for him to leave jail with an electronic tag and live with the uncle of a woman with whom he has a child with, but US prosecutors opposed the bail application.
UAE’s The National reported that prosecutors said he could commit crimes with just a smartphone and an internet connection, and that he posed too much of a flight risk.
Reacting to prosecutors’ argument, Pissetzky stated that his client had too much to lose if he flees from the United States.
He told a judge in Chicago by videolink,

Man plans with SARS officers to arrest his girlfriend so he can propose to her (Video)
A video circulating the social media space show the moment some SARS officers tried to arrest a lady in the presence of her boyfriend.
However, there was a quick plot twist after the boyfriend got down on his knees during the staged arrest, and pulled out a ring.
The lady who was crying uncontrollably thinking she was getting arrested over nothing, suddenly let out a wide smile as she hugged her boyfriend tightly.
As they hugged each other, the SARS officers and other eye witnesses cheered them on by clapping their hands for them, and screaming congratulations.

Empire actor, Bryshere Gray arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife
American actor, Bryshere Gray, who is famous for playing Hakeem on the Fox drama Empire, has been arrested after his wife alleged that he assaulted and strangled her until she passed out.
The incident began at about 10.15pm on Sunday night, July 12 when Goodyear Police responded to a 911 call alleging “an adult female victim had been assaulted at her Goodyear home by her husband, who she identified as Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV series ‘Empire,’ ” police said in a statement.
According to the police, the woman had multiple visible injuries on her body and she said Gray strangled her at one point, until she passed out.
Her injuries were non-life-threatening but she was taken to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released, police said, adding that detectives and a Victim’s Advocate “continued to assist her after her discharge from the hospital.”
When cops got to their home in Goodyear, Arizona, Gray refused to come outside and barricaded himself inside the house overnight.
About nine hours later, he was “taken into custody without incident” just after 7 a.m. Monday, and was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on domestic violence charges, police said.
Gray appeared in all 102 episodes of Empire, which wrapped its six-year run on Fox in April. and Dance.

A Twitter user initiated the viral thread when he asked people to share the worst response to I love you, so Nigerian netizens decided to declare their love to their parents and share their responses.

Man rewards an old classmate who was rich and used to feed him in school everyday but later became poor
A Nigerian man has revealed how he gave a job to an old classmate who was once rich and used to buy him food everyday in high school.
According to Tobi Marshal with the username @tobi_marshal_ on Twitter, he had a classmate who noticed how things were rough with him and would always buy him food in school or choose to give him ₦500 out of the ₦1,000 he was given by his parents everyday.
He revealed that he ran into the mother of the said classmate and was surprised she was driving a “Danfo” instead of her usual luxury cars as her husband was a wealthy politician.
He then collected the woman’s phone number, gave her his and asked her to tell her son to call him.

”True life story: when I was in high school I used to have this friend his parents were so rich I mean so I thought his father was permanent secretary minister of agriculture something like that sha.
I lost my dad when I was in high school things got so difficult for my mum, she struggled to pay my fees which was like 200k per term at times she couldn’t even afford to give me food to school I would just go to school without food I couldn’t complain, I knew my mum was struggling.
This my friend noticed how things were and I remember him always sharing. The 1000 naira his mum gave him for food daily with me he would split it in 2 or sometimes he would just buy me food, he never let me starve we became really close I met his mum she was so nice, she used to drive the latest cars. He also met my mum.
Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago from today I went to computer village to do somethings and on my way back I saw this small Danfo bus parked in front of me and I was shocked to see a woman driving it, something just told me to look at the woman’s face properly.
I was so shocked to see that it was that my friends mum driving the small danfo bus, immediately I ran to her and I greeted her, she was so happy to see me then all of a sudden she started crying. I couldn’t talk much I collected her number and gave her mine to give her son.
I told her to tell her son to call me. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I heard the whole story, apparently his rich father had so many wives girlfriends and kids and he abandoned the woman to take care of her kids(she had 2 kids for him).
I was so sad immediately I sent his mum some money to pay off some debts and I took my friend in and I made so many calls, at least to get him a job to assist his mum. They both thanked me so much but I’m sure they had forgotten the help they rendered me.
I’m glad to say that I actually got him a job and he resumes tomorrow, the joy in my heart is so full, and I feel so happy, when you do good do it completely with your heart not with the hopes to get something in return and God will bless you.”
