Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA are carrying out a search to recover a 4-year-old child who was swept away by flood in Lagos.
The rescue team began their search at 38 Fashola street, Papa Asafa, Orile, Agege, Vanguard reports.
The incident reportedly happened around 10 am during the torrential rainfall with attendant heavy flooding.
Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident to the publication, saying that the agency received a distress call from a witness.
“Response team from the agency has been dispatched immediately with search and rescue operation ongoing,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.

A Nigerian dad took to his Twitter handle to share a heartwarming story surrounding the birth of his second son, Jason, who turns 10 today June 18.
@9jaBloke in a tweet thread recounted the challenges he and his wife faced as they waited for 10 years to have Jason.
According to him, they got married in 2006 and like every couple, spoke about the number of children they wanted. They had their first child a year after they got married and then the journey of pain and sorrow set in when they started trying for another child.

Nigerian Music Executive, Ubi Franklin, has taken to his social media page to lament as he is one of those who have been affected by the heavy downpour which resulted in a flood in Lagos State.
Ubi revealed he was alerted by his personal assistant as early as 5:30Am that his house is flooded as the roof came off and it was raining directly into one of this rooms.
Sharing the video, Ubi wrote ;
At About 5:30am I heard a knock on my door and when I came out it was my PA “sir the house is flooded” everywhere was flooded.
The Roof came off, POP soaked and it was raining directly into one of the guest rooms upstairs and luckily The person sleeping in the room was not hurt.

RCCG general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has joined other Nigerians to mourn Ibidun Ighodalo, wife of clergyman, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 14 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
In a post shared on his Instagram page in the early hours of Thursday, June 18, the 78-year-old clergyman said he is saddened by Ibidun’s demise but knows she is in a better place.
”Hearing the news of @ibidunni_ighodalo ‘s demise was really saddening but I know that she is in a better place right now. I pray that the Almighty himself will comfort the family of @pastorituahighodalo in Jesus name.’‘he wrote
Ibidun who ran a successful events management company, Elizabeth R, would have turned 40 in July. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 20.
Veteran Singer, Olalekan Fadeyi popularly known as Azadus, is feeling thankful after recovering from the dreaded COVID19 disease in Lagos.
Azadus was admitted into one of the Isolation centers in Lagos after he tested positive. After receiving treatment, he was discharged on Thursday, June 17.

Nigerian lady, Seyitan Babatayo who accused D’banj of rape has denied claims of getting arrested alongside her mother.
Report of Ms Babatayo’s arrest which investigative journalist Kiki Mordi insisted happened, had been trailed by mixed reaction as some social media users affirmed that D’banj is trying to clear his name while others condemned and accused him of intimidation.
In a tweet she shared after her alleged arrest gained public attention yesterday June 17, the lady stated that she is moving on and leaving everything behind her.

The Lagos Zonal office of The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested suspected internet fraudsters in Ota, Ogun State, and Victoria Island, Lagos.
The suspects arrested during the raid in Ota, Ogun State are Adeshina Michael; Ayeni Emiloju; Odenigbo Anthony, Afolabi Gbenga, and Oyibogbola David Seun.
Those arrested in Victoria Island, Lagos are Onothebor Edmond; Suuru Blessing; Ifedapo Opeyemi; Samson Samuel, Oguntade Idowu, and Emmanuel Akinyemi. Others are: Seyi Kazeem; Sulaiman Toheed; Oduwale Oluwasesan, Adewoye Oluwasesan, and Alex Abiodun.

Family, friends and colleagues of late Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo converged Wednesday evening to sing hymns, psalms and light candles in her honor.
Ibidun, an event planner extraordinaire sadly passed away on Sunday, June 14th leaving behind her children, Zenan and Keke, and her spouse, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo.
Renowned gospel artistes like Tope Alabi, Efe Nathan, Sammie Okposo, Tosin Martins, Buchi, and others rendered powerful songs at the service.

Talented Nollywood actress and philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh has shared how she hated her late mum for years but later forgave her when she turned 28.
The actress made the surprising revelation in a recent episode of “Grub and Rub with king Tonto” on YouTube. The mother of one who lost her mum while she was very tender, said her hatred for her late mum started after she died.
According to Dikeh, she hated her late mother so much for dying and leaving her at a very tender age to suffer. She talked on how she is often scared of dying and leaving her own son behind just like her mother did.
Tonto said that she got professional help when she turned 28, and was able to let go of everything.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the list of the top 10 best candidates in the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Top on the list were two candidates from Anambra state with 365 and 363 scores respectively.
“They are 10 in number and if you notice, some of the candidates scored the same mark and they are (tied) on the same position,” the spokesperson of the board Fabian Benjamin said.

Two children have died after a storey-building collapsed in the Gafari Balogun area of Ogudu, Lagos State today June 17.
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the sad incident, said the building collapsed due to mudslide resulting from a downpour.
His words ;
“The LASEMA Response Team received a distress call at 12.40 pm about the collapse of a one-storey building at the Gafari Balogun Street in Ogudu.
On arrival at the scene, the agency’s responders observed that the building collapsed as a result of a mudslide at the rear of the building which was caused by heavy rainfall.
The agents were informed that two children, one male, and one female were trapped and immediately commenced a search and rescue operation. Unfortunately, they were found dead and their remains had been transported to the mortuary.
Integrity testing will be carried out on the remainder of the building which has now been cordoned off.” he said
Nigerians are dragging popular singer, Dbanj on social media following the ‘legal steps’ he took as regards to the rape allegation that was peddled against him by a lady.

Three Federal Road Safety Corps officials have died after they were reportedly struck by lightning in Ogun State.
The quite tragic incident occurred early on Wednesday, June 17, in the ancient town of Ilese, near Ijebu -Ode, in Ijebu North-East local government area of Ogun State.
The lightning struck at about 10:00am while the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were preparing for the early morning parade within the vicinity of their office located at the old toll gate.
According to Vanguard, a senior member of the Corps disclosed that there were about twelve officials in the same office when the lightning struck 3 of them.
Men of the state’s special security outfit code-named “OP MESA” have taken over security of the entire area, chasing onlookers away and preventing journalists from taking pictures.
Also, traditionalists worshipers otherwise known as Sango adherents have joined other FRSC officials at the scene of the incident in Ilese Ijebu in a bid to perform some traditional rites on the corpses before they are released to government officials for burial, the publication adds.

Disqualified Big Brother Naija 2019 housemate, Natacha Ekide has said that out of the 26 ‘Pepper Dem’ contestants, that she was the only one who didn’t gossip in the house.
During last night’s BBNaija reunion show, Ebuka asked who gossiped the most in the house, and Tacha replied saying everyone did except her.

A 300–level Mathematics Education female student of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, identified as one Faderera Oloyede has been discovered dead in an apartment belonging to her boyfriend, Ayo Maliki, in Osun State.
Faderera was found on Tuesday inside her boyfriend’s room at Koko, Iree, Osun State. She was said to have gone to her boyfriend’s place in company with her friend identified as one Kemisola Adewusi, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

According to reports surrounding her demise, her boyfriend had prepared rice for his visitors and while eating the food, the deceased suddenly developed stomach ache and started vomiting.
She, however, died shortly afterwards after efforts to save her life yielded no result. “They tried to save her life but she died after complaining of stomach ache,” one source said.
The Student Union Government President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Kehinde Raji, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that Maliki went into hiding immediately the incident occured.
He, however, disclosed that the police were invited and took the corpse of Faderera away. Spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, Kemisola had been detained.
Nollywood actor and director, Ramsey Nouah, has asked that all the Twitter accounts impersonating him be blocked.
The 49-year-old made the request on Twitter on Wednesday after a graphic identified as Louisa Jilo, tagged one of the fake accounts when she called out Ramsey Nouah and the producers of the 2019 film, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, for using her work without compensation.

There was a little bit of commotion earlier this morning in the Ojota area of Lagos when a lady plunged down the pedestrian bridge in an apparent attempt to commit suicide.
According to reports, the initial attempts by a passersby to stop her from jumping proved abortive as she freed herself from the grip of a man who was holding her back before she took a leap.
It’s gathered that the Lagos Neighbourhood officers later helped her to a safe place to avoid been hit by oncoming vehicles. The DPO Alausa Police Station later came to the scene to take the lady away.

A Nigerian lady identified Louisa on Twitter earlier called popular Nollywood Actor and Director, Ramsey Nouah for using her designs in his movie without paying for it.
The lady who admitted there was no paperwork done when she was contacted for the job in 2018, claimed she only requested a down payment but was also not given because the media director for the movie told her then that the budget had not been approved.
I just accepted the job and started working straight away. The only thing I remember requesting was a down payment. But the then media director pleaded that the budget was yet to be approved but I shouldn't worry. As soon as it is. He will avail me some funds towards my charge.
@Louisajilo stated that in spite of using her designs which they told her wasn’t good enough, Ramsey Noah has continously ignored after she contacted him.
Upon seeing the tweet, Kate Henshaw reacted and promised to contact Ramsey ; she did and Ramsey Nouah immediately contacted the lady and duly compensated her for her work.
The lady then proceeded to serve an update after her post went viral on social media.
In her new tweet, the graphic designer stated that she was not in direct contact with Ramsey Nouah or the crew which made her to use social media to address the issue.
Louisa went on to reveal that she has been compensated and she also thanked Kate Henshaw for making sure her case was heard.
