Son of Nigeria’s former vice-president, Mohammed Abubakar, has recovered from COVID-19 after spending 40 days in the hospital.
In March, his father had announced that one of his sons tested positive for the disease after he returned from Switzerland.
In a statement on Monday, Mohammed said his experience as a COVID-19 patient humbled him as he never thought he would be one of those infected.
“I, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar, wish to inform Nigerians that I have finally been cleared and discharged after 40 days of coronavirus (Covid19) treatment,” he said.
“My discharge could not have come at a better time than in the Ramadan, a season marked by sacrifice and supplication to the Almighty Allah.
“I thank the Almighty Allah for my recovery from the dreaded infection and also wish to express my sincerest and deepest appreciation to Nigerians for their prayers and goodwill while I was being treated.
“In the course of life, we have no idea of what will happen to us because only the Almighty God knows our future. When the coronavirus first broke out in faraway China, I had no idea that I might be one of those to be infected. This is one of the everlasting lessons I can’t forget for the rest of my life. Indeed, I have been humbled by this experience.”
He hailed the federal ministry of health and other frontline health workers for their sacrifices and professionalism during this period.
Mohammed said the pandemic revealed the weakness in “our health sector” and brought the poor and the powerful to a common level.
“The coronavirus has caught the world off guard and sent us reeling for solutions. It also reveals the weaknesses of our health systems in the developing world. It’s an eye-opening experience for Nigeria and other developing nations,” he said.
“Thanks to coronavirus outbreak, we are now coming to terms with the necessity of adequate funding of our healthcare system. This disease has brought the rich, the poor and the powerful to a common level. This is the time our policymakers should reset our national priorities and give our health system adequate attention. No investment in our health sector is too much.
“No less important, our policymakers should also adequately fund research in vaccines and other drugs because of the uncertainties and challenges like the coronavirus. Once again, thank you for your support and prayers, may Allah show up for you at your appointed time of need.”
Thank You For Your Support And Prayers – Mohammed Atiku Abubakar
I, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar, wish to inform Nigerians that I have finally been cleared and discharged after 40 days of coronavirus (Covid19) treatment.

Nigerian Face model with prominent tribal marks, Adetutu O.J. who gained recognition when she indicated interest in modeling for Rihanna, has outed Instagram comedian, Broda Shaggi and accused him of mocking a lady with tribal marks.
In a makeup video that was shared on Instagram, Broda Shaggi is seen making a commentary as a woman with tribal marks had makeup done on her face to hide her marks and spots.
“God will punish the people that invented makeup,” Broda Shaggi said as the model was transformed with makeup to the point that her tribal marks were no longer visible.
Adetutu O.J., who has been quite open about the stigmatization she’s suffered due to her facial marks, felt Broda Shaggi’s remarks on the video was disrespectful and took to accusing him of mocking people with tribal marks.
Some of her followers also joined in calling the IG comedian out. They accused him of adding to the stigmatization those with tribal marks suffer.
Adetutu wrote,
you think this is funny? I know you were a friend of my brother, makinde while in unilag but I’m mad at you for this kind of joke you think you made. People with tribal marks gets to be mocked almost every time whether they like it or not and for a makeup artist to conceal her tribal marks ; it’s because she wanted it or the agreement with the makeup. That girl deserves an apology and this video makes me mad because it’s not fucking funny.
People with tribal marks deserves to be respected and not to be mocked.
And even if she consented to the concealing of the tribal marks by her makeup artist, you making a joke about it mocks the makeup artist and the tribal marked lady. She might not speak for herself but I have said my mind, the video is simply a mockery video and it’s not funny

Following Lateef’s death, Tinubu requested for a test to be carried out on him, his family members and aides. The results came in today and they were negative. However, one of his aide’s reuslt came back positive.
Read the full statement from Tinubu’s media aide below
Covid-19 is a real and present threat. Those of us who discount it or claim it is a fabrication do a grave and dangerous disservice to the public well-being. Likewise, those who stigmatise people who may have been stricken by the virus also do a disservice by casting blame on the innocent and discouraging people from taking the COVID test. We cannot defeat this health menace through ignorance or by shaming one another. We can only beat it through transparency, knowledge and compassion. This, we have learned first-hand.
Following the death of our well-respected and beloved Chief Security Officer, Alhaji Lateef Raheem, NCDC medics took the wise precaution of taking samples from his body for testingto actually determine the cause of death.Today, the test results are back. The samples tested positive for Covid-19.
As a precautionary measure taken soon after the death of Alhaji Raheem, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and all their aides took COVID-19 tests Saturday, April 25. The results of the tests were returned this morning.
Test results for both Asiwaju and Senator Tinubu were negative.
The results of one aide were positive. The rest of the staff was negative. The one staff member has been isolated in accordance with NCDC guidelines. Further contact tracing and COVID-19 tests are being conducted by the NCDC with regard to the relatives and possible contacts of that staff member.
Asiwaju has stressed that openness and transparency must be observed if we are to defeat this disease. There is no house immune to its entry. Contracting the virus should not bring social or moral stigma any more than contracting malaria or a common cold.
We cannot overcome this challenge by acting like it does not exist or by trying to conceal that someone may have it due to social shame. The culture of denial is counterproductive and will do great harm in our current situation.
Asiwaju asks that you not be afraid to be tested if you have any symptoms or if you believe you may have come in contact with someone who has been infected. We must do all we can to contain the spread of the virus and to well treat those of us who have been hit by it.
As you go about your day, we know you must find daily sustenance. Yet, please continue to do all you can to maintain social distance and to take all other public health measures to protect yourself and others. In this way, we all may contribute to halt the spread of this dangerous virus.

In Odira’s opinion,
“Kanye became a billionaire when he started preaching Jesus. “You see why I always talk about God. Cos I know that I need him in this journey.
“Let me just drop this verse from the bible: ‘You have faith; I have deeds. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds’.
“Do I need to explain this? If you like, spend all day in the church and do nothing. If you like, don’t give yourself ‘brain’.”

The Republic of Senegal has according to reports, developed one of the world’s most affordable Coronavirus testing kits, which costs $1 each and $60 3D printed ventilators.
A laboratory in the West African country used its AIDS and Ebola experience to develop a $1 COVID-19 testing kit and ventilators that cost just $60.
Despite Senegal’s low budget for health, the West African nation has recorded the highest recovery rate in Africa so far and the 3rd highest recovery rate in the world. 283 of its 671 Coronavirus patients have recovered and 9 have died.
The high recovery rate is due to Senegal’s affordable Coronavirus test kits which makes it possible to test and treat more people as compared to other countries.
Unlike most countries that wait till patients start exhibiting symptoms before tests are carried out due to shortage of test kits, Senegal is testing everyone who indicates interest, symptoms or not, and this has helped them identify those affected early to allow them begin treatment before the illness progresses.
Senegal has no shortage of testing kits and it’s all thanks to this lab.
Also, with a scarcity of ventilators in the country, Senegal’s engineers are using a 3D printing machine to produce more ventilators. Imported ventilators cost $16,000 but the one manufactured by Senegal engineers cost only $60.
Senegal has managed to keep the spread of Coronavirus down to one of the world’s lowest rates and have developed a cheap, effective test that can be mass produced and globally distributed.
Few hours after their colleague labelled one of them “a snake”, Big Brother Naija reality TV stars, Khafi and Tacha resorted to fervent prayers against people who don’t want them to rest.
Jackye Madu had hosted a question and answer session on her Instagram page, with her followers and was rather blunt with her answers.
A follower asked the ‘Tech queen’ if she was still friends with Khafi, and her response seems as one who still holds grudges against the latter.
“I don’t like snakes”, she stated.
It should be recalled that while in the house, Jackye made claims that she’d been feeling bad omen around Tacha and thought of her as a witch – she backed up her claim by stating that she saw fetish items with Tacha which made her speculate.
Well, Khafi… on her Instagram page, not too long ago, held a prayer session with her followers on the live feature and one of the people who featured in the session was Tacha.
In course of their prayer, which was anchored by Tacha, they’re heard praying fervently against “witches and wizards” who don’t want them to rest… praying that God takes away good fortune from them if they don’t want others to have good fortune.
The prayer points certainly shouldn’t be unconnected with the fact that Jackye took a swipe against them… Watch the video below,
