Two nurses and a doctor have reportedly tested positive for Coronavirus at a government hospital in Abuja.
SaharaReporters reported that a senior medical worker at the hospital who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the infected health workers were part of medical personnel that attended to an infected person brought into the hospital.
“The patient was rushed to the hospital and as our job demands, we have to save life first and that was what we did. The person was attended to and stabilised by the medical team. A test was soon conducted and the result came out positive. The hospital thereafter asked all those who attended to the patient to undergo tests to determine their status and at the end of the day, two doctors and one nurse tested positive for the virus. They are currently in isolation at the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital.”the source said.
The Senior Health worker accused the Federal government of not providing medical workers with quality Personal Protective Equipment among other gears needed to protect themselves as they attend to patients with the infectious disease.
“The unfortunate thing is that the government is not providing us with what to work with. It is sad that our PPE is not up to the world standard and can be penetrated by viruses. Some of us (health workers) have to use our personal funds to purchase gloves as we do not trust the ones government supplied. Nigerians should please remember us in their prayers and the government should provide us with what we really need to work.” the source said

Few hours after a lady shared a video she made of a trader soaking mango inside gutter water before selling to people in the Agungi area of Lagos state, authorities stormed the area to arrest to supposed trader(s) who indulged in such act.
In a recent development, possibly after interrogating the suspects, another video now shows the moment the trader brings out the fruits that were stored in the dirty drainage system in the same area.
The lady who had initially shared the video after she caught the perpetrators had stated the exact location of the traders and moments later, it was reported that the trader(s) had been arrested over the discovery.
In the new video that’s been making the rounds, an aboki is seen in the same exact location bringing out mango fruits from the dirty gutter as people stood by and watched in utter shock.

A lady on Twitter, who supposedly resides in London took to the platform to declare what would happen in the advent of a particular situation in her marital home in the future.
@PodierEden on the platform unapologetically tweeted that the day her husband asks her to pay half of their rent money is that day she packs her bags to leave him.
When her tweet sparked a debate, she went on to say that she believes it is a man’s job to provide for his household financially and also the roles that she’s going to play in the house too, levels up to the responsibility of the man.
Her statements has caused a stir on social media with some agreeing with her and some not. She however is not perturbed by comments trailing her notion as she says despite a man in her life, she would still be able to provide for her desired lifestyle and more. However, her man should be able to do more than she can do for herself.

18-year-old Kelvin Uzor, has been arrested for the alleged killing of his brother’s identical twins for money-making ritual on March 6, 2020, in Oko Ogbele, Delta State.
The police revealed that Uzor killed the seven-year-old boys, then removed their penis, eyes, tongues and hands, which he allegedly hurriedly took to a native doctor in Anambra State.
Kelvin, however, has denied killing the twins, insisting that it was his friend one Onuwa Olisah, who killed them.
Incidentally, Onuwa’s 11-year-old brother, Iweka Olisah, has also confessed to seeing his elder brother with a bloodied machete.
Kelvin said that his only crime was in attending the meeting with Onuwa and others, where they deliberated on how to carry out money making ritual. He claimed to have backed out of the devilish plan at the last minutes.
He said,
“My hope was to make money, drive big cars and build a house. I wanted to become a young chief because most of these young boys did not work as hard as I did and now they are millionaires. I’m a farmer and it requires hard work.
I was not even making enough money for myself. This was why I agreed to be part of the meeting. Onuwa convinced me that was the fastest way to become rich. He said that most of our colleagues made money through that means.
My greatest mistake was that I did not inform my family when Onuwa suggested that we should use the twins. I love those twins so much and their parents are nice.
When we were making arrangement who to use, Onuwa mentioned the twins, I cautioned him, but I didn’t know he would still go ahead with his plan. I have begged my brother to hold on until police arrest Onuwa for him to know that I had nothing to do with the murder of the twins.”
Since the kidnap and subsequent murder of the twins, Onuwa, who is a neighbour, has since disappeared into thin air.
Early this month, UFC fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk was left with a disfigured face after she and rival fighter, Zhang Weili produced a ‘fight of the century‘ display at the T-Mobile Arena.
Both female fighters traded so much heavy blows and kicks during the fight that the UFC President Dana Whyte had to offer them extra financial bonuses for entertaining viewers during the night.
Polish fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk got her face so disfigured that she had to undergo surgery after the fight, but barely a month after the fight, she has now spoken about her recovery process and shared new photos on Instagram showing her healed face.

Nollywood veteran actress, Ngozi Ezeonu, about a month and few weeks ago was in an excited state as her daughter, Oge got married in Asaba, Delta State. See Photos here
Colleagues and friends took to wishing the actress’s daughter a happy married life and showered blessings on the union but not long after, unfortunately, there was wild controversy caused by the father of the bride.
According to the actress’s ex-husband, Edwin Ezeonu, she married off their daughter without his consent and as such, trampled on his right and honour as a man.
Edwin, who was exasperated by the fact that his daughter got married in Asaba, Delta state not Anambra which is her state of origin, he laid a curse on her new union.
He went to state that he is native of Nnobi while his estranged wife, Ngozi is from Ogbunike, both in Anambra State, yet his daughter’s traditional marriage was held in Delta State, an act seen as abomination in his community.
In his own words,
“I’m the real son of the soil in Igbo land and I am knowledgeable enough to some extent concerning Igbo marriage tradition in Anambra State. In the whole of Anambra State where I belong, a woman does not and has no legitimate right whatsoever to give out a fellow woman’s hand in marriage. It is a abomination and taboo. As such, Ngozi Denis Ikpelue has no legitimate right and authority to give out Ogechukwu Edwina Ezeonu’s hand in marriage. As long as I and the entire family of Ezeonu and his kindred are concerned, Ogechukwu Edwina Ezeonu is not married. That union is cursed. It is a taboo! What happened at Asaba Delta State on the 15th of February 2020 must be a movie shoot,”
Weeks after his ranting, his estranged spouse who had endured the derogatory remarks from users online over her ex-husband’s call out, shared a cryptic message on her Instagram page which reads,
”My Father My Maker, as I pray, anyone that will cause me pain may I not meet them. If they are already in my life, disconnect me from them in Jesus Name. Amen. “
Nollywood actress Uche Elendu has bemoaned her loneliness, revealing that life, as a single mom of two, is not easy.
She said: “It is not easy not being married and also not having a man of my own. But I have kids who keep me company the whole of my time. I interact with them, take care of them and teach them. As an entrepreneur, I am also making research and relating with my client. I feel the need to be in the company of a man on rare occasions. I don’t really feel bad because I am single. I know I would be in the right relationship when the time comes.”
The movie star also expressed worries after learning that one of her colleagues who attended the recently held African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) tested positive for coronavirus.
“I was scared stiff when I heard about it. There were lots of people at that event, so it is expected that there would be exchange of pleasantries, hugging, handshaking, pecking and all. I am really praying that the person that tested positive didn’t spread the virus to other people. If not, it would be a very tragic situation. I hope that at the time he was at the AMVCA, the virus wasn’t strong enough to be transmitted, because lots of people had mingled with family members, friends and more. After the awards, everyone went about their respective businesses. It is really a sad situation, but I am very hopeful.”
Few hours ago, Nigerian singing sensation, Davido took to all his social media platforms to announce that mother of his child and fiance, Chioma has tested positive to the novel Covid-19 after running tests for the disease.
Perturbed by the message, heartfelt Nigerians and well-wishers stormed the singer’s page to say a word of prayer and hope that his baby mama gets speedy recovery.
Davido, in his message had stated that not only did Chioma do the test for the virus, but every other of his crew including himself and his son, Ifeanyi and all except Chioma tested negative to the virus.
In light of this, fans and followers have pondered about the circumstances surrounding the development and wondered if the singer is pulling a stunt but at what cost and for what gain is what has a handful people in doubts.
While some of his fans continue to put him and his fiance in prayers, others who have found the whole situation sketchy have continued to question Davido’s message and it’s in this vein that a video of the singer partying alongside his fiance at a party just five days ago, emerged.
In the video, Davido is seen in close contact with Chioma as they party alongside other people – obviously, should be the singer’s crew members – and this has caused a stir over the singer’s message few hours ago.

Davido revealed that though, Chioma tested positive to the virus, she however hasn’t shown any symptoms and the same goes for himself… in his own words,
We had no symptoms and still both feel perfectly fine but because of our recent travel history we decided to take ourselves and our all close associates we’ve come in recent contact with for the COVID-19 test on the 25th of March.
Now, in light of the emergence of the video that shows the singer in really close relations to Chioma, Nigerians are finding it hard to believe that his test could have come out negative or whether or not, Chioma is actually positive and if all these is just a mere stunt.
Also, a tweet of photos that shows the singer – few days before his announcement – partying in supposedly the same event has since been deleted on the platform which calls for serious speculations over the possible anomaly of the situation.
The tweet was screenshot before it was deleted and it shows the date which it was published – 23rd of March, 2020. See screenshot below,
Here are the photos that were uploaded with the tweet and they certainly commensurate the video that was published recently after Davido’s announcement.
About 100 residential buildings, school and churches were destroyed in an explosion that rocked Akure, the Ondo state capital, on Saturday morning.
The loud explosion happened in the early hours of Saturday, 28th of March 2020, around 1 am, causing the ever busy Akure/Owo road to be split into two with many injured.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the explosion happened less than a Kilometer to Akure airport, affecting many rresidents of the Eleyowo community, and also completely destroying a church and school in the area.
Many people who lived within the church premises were said to be injured while some were rescued by the people of the community. The school with boarding facilities was destroyed beyond repair with roofs of all the buildings blown off.
The spot at which the explosion happened cut off the road, hindering vehicular movement.
Folks on social media are arguing that this may be a bomb blast, while others are convinced that this was an asteroid. While some say it may just be an earth quake.

@EbongJc: Something is going on in Nigeria and its about time we know what’s happening. Just some weeks ago, this happened in Lagos. Now it’s Akure.. Can someone in government tells us what’s happening? Explosion rocks Lagos and Ondo States.
@dafenone_: So something happened in akure around 1am and we don’t know what it is? We just dey see giant hole for ground. We don’t have NASA or all those weird agencies. Can someone consult the Chief Priest???
Instagram Comedian and Skit Maker, Sydney Talker has shared his alleged experience with the NCDC after he showed symptoms of the covid-19 novel virus.
Read Below;
Good afternoon everyone.
I’m sharing my personal experience with our failed healthcare system especially on its inability to respond promptly to this COVID-19 epidemic.
A week ago, I came down with some symptoms similar to that of COVID-19. I tried the @NCDCgov hotlines several times for about 2 days before I got a response stating that since I have not started showing ALL signs & symptoms plus I have no recent international travel history or contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient I wouldn’t be attended to.
I took to Twitter later that day expressing my displeasure for the response I got and most people including the @NCDCgovdismissed it as a skit or probably an attention seeking video.
My symptoms continued to persist and I reached out to the @LSMOH through the hotlines all to no avail before contacting them on Twitter via @08000CORONA where I got a call the following morning.
I was told to get a cough syrup and mix lemon in hot water and take these liquids every morning and evening.
I carried out these practices for 2 days with a little relief or so I thought, up until yesterday where I had serious difficulty breathing.
I was rushed to a private hospital where I was rejected because of my symptoms, and was referred to the Mainland Hospital (Formerly Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, Lagos).

Upon my arrival at the Mainland Hospital, the doctors on ground reluctantly attended to the case after questioning me.
Some of the doctors dismissed it almost immediately stating that the signs and symptoms plus possible confirmed contact did not fit the profile of a COVID 19 case.
A sample was eventually collected for testing after we insisted on NOT leaving without a test being carried out. While the test was ongoing 2 persons were immediately admitted into the Isolation Ward based on the fact that they had possible contact with a confirmed case.

We were later referred again from the Mainland Hospital to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for medical examination.
On getting to LUTH we were halted at the entrance of the Accident & Emergency Ward and told to wait outside.
We were questioned from a distance on the symptoms I was experiencing.
After questioning, the doctor said this was a possible case of COVID 19 and referred us back to Mainland Hospital Yaba stating that they do not have adequate gear and facilities to handle such a case.
All these took place within the hours of 11pm and 5am while I was still having difficulty breathing, dry cough and my hands and feet were numb.
We eventually decided to head back home as there was no HOPE in sight of being attended to. We placed a call across to a Nigerian trained Consultant based in the US who prescribed some medications to subdue the symptoms and instructed us to carry out certain tests.
What kind of lie is this????? you didn’t reach out to me and I wasn’t doing a skit. Please all I want is to be tested because the symptoms get worse by the day https://t.co/Crgs2ucIZK
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has donated his former residence at the Presidential Hilltop, Abeokuta, Ogun State as an isolation centre for victims of the dreaded Coronavirus disease.
Obasanjo’s media assistant Kehinde Akinyemi who confirmed the development, said the 32-room apartment located off the Presidential Boulevard in Oke Sari, Abeokuta has been handed over to the Ogun State government for immediate take over. The apartment also has a standby generator.
Akinyemi added;
“And I think those who can in one way or another assist in this situation should do so.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Zaina Ahmed, has said the country will go into recession if the Coronavirus pandemic persists longer than six months.
She made this known when she appeared on Channels TV on Friday March 27.
“We are hopeful that this pandemic will be limited in time. If it is an average of three months, we should be able to close the year with positive growth. But if it goes longer than that – six months, one year – we will go into recession.” she said
Law enforcement agents in Anambra state, prevented a burial ceremony from taking place, due to the recent outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has said the state may witness up to 39,000 cases of coronavirus.
The commissioner implored people to adhere to the social distancing advice of the state government to check the spread of the disease.
He said ;
“Our mathematical modelling shows that the worst-case scenario is that we may see up to 39,000 cases in Lagos, but if everyone practises good social distancing, the figure will be limited to 13,000.
“If we add social distancing to active contact tracing, then we will be able to bend the curve further. The figures may seem alarming at this point, but this is just to emphasise to the Lagos community to follow instructions of the incident commander to make sure that we practice social distancing.
“Looking at the same timeframe from the introduction of the index case, you can see that Lagos State is not seen anywhere near what Spain, Italy, and Iran are showing. So, at weeks two and three of our index case, we are flat; and at week four, we have 37 cases; while at the same fourth week, Italy, Iran, and Spain had more than 20,000 cases.”
Former Big Brother Naija contestant, Frodd has taken a swipe at one of his followers on his Instagram page after the latter said he should be tested for the Covid-19.
Frodd was among the large number of guests who graced the AMVCA 7 in Lagos where it was revealed that a carrier of the virus was also present at the event and as such, everyone who participated in the event should self-isolate for at 14 days.
It’s been 12 days since the AMVCAs and majority of the attendees are yet to come out to state that they’ve been infected with the disease only that they’ve been self-isolating as prescribed by the NCDC.
Frodd took to his page to share that he also has been participating in the self-isolation activity but a follower of his was of the notion that he should go for a test rather than isolate himself alone.
This caused a flare from the ex-BBN housemate and had him rain thunder on the follower’s head… Read their exchange below,
Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has reportedly ordered the investigation of the act of vandalism that was carried out by some Police Officers in a vide that’s been making the rounds on the internet.
The video has been making the rounds online with many netizens questioning why the security operatives had to take such violent action, destroying valuable properties.
It’s no doubt that the crackdown that occurred in the video was no more than a display of the tough measures introduced by the state government to contain the spread of the Covid-19.
Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu had earlier in the week ordered that all open markets and stores, except for sellers of food, medicines, medical equipment and other essential life-saving products, be closed for seven days.
In reaction to the video that’s sparked lots of mixed reactions online, the IGP condemned the officers’ ‘unprofessionalism and highhandedness’.
He directed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Odumosu Olusegun, to investigate the incident and commence disciplinary actions against the officers involved.
“The IGP notes that we are now in extra-ordinary times – a global state of emergency. Police officers involved in the enforcement of restriction orders and other law enforcement functions must therefore exercise their discretionary powers with utmost sense of professionalism, compassion and respect for the citizens,” a police statement read.

This was made known by Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his social media page and he says the idea is to alleviate the sufferings of the people as it plans to give the food items to about 200,000 households containing six members in the first instance.
Among the food items to be distributed to residents are bags of rice, gari, beans, bread, pepper, drinking water, vitamins, among others, adding that the gesture is a continuous process.

“This first stage is targeting 200,000 households at an estimation of six people per household. We hope to ramp it up quickly.
“The stimulus package will contain bags of rice, beans, gari, bread, dry pepper, drinking water and vitamins. We want each ration to last for 14 days as we continue to evaluate the impact of #COVID19.
