The police in Ogun state have arrested a 40-year old man, Olanrewaju Adeyinka, for allegedly stabbing his younger brother, Gabriel, to death with a window louvre for bringing two life parrots into their home in the Ilaro area of the state.

Olanrewaju who was paraded before newsmen on Thursday March 12th, confessed to the crime but said it was a mistake and the handiwork of the devil.

According to him, he returned home on the fateful day to see the parrots in their home and he got into an argument with his brother after he ordered that the parrots be taken outside. The argument degenerated into a fight and in the process, he used a window louvre they broke during the fight to stab his brother. He claimed he was about taking the broken louvre to show their neighbors when his brother charged at him and then he used it to stab him.

He asked that the police to have mercy on him as he never intended to kill his brother.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a statement the club said Arsenal employees who have had recent close contact with Arteta will now self isolate and that they expect this to be a significant number of people from the London Colney training centre including the full first-team squad and coaching staff, as well as a smaller number of people from our Hale End Academy which we have also temporarily closed as a precaution.

Managing director Vinai Venkatesham said: “The health of our people and the wider public is our priority and that is where our focus is. Our thoughts are with Mikel who is disappointed but in good spirits. We are in active dialogue with all the relevant people to manage this situation appropriately, and we look forward to getting back to training and playing as soon as medical advice allows.”

Real Madrid’s football players have been placed in quarantine after a member of the Spanish club’s basketball team, who they share a training ground with, tested positive for the coronavirus.

Both the football and basketball teams were told to self-isolate for a period of 15 days.

A club statement read: “Real Madrid C. F. announces that a member of our basketball first team has tested positive for coronavirus,”

“The recommendation of remaining in quarantine has been followed with immediate effect, with this measure applied to both the basketball and football first teams, given that the two squads share the facilities at Real Madrid City.

In addition, a decision has been made to close our training ground and it is recommended that all Real Madrid staff who work at Real Madrid City remain in quarantine.”

The Italian man who became the index case of Coronavirus in Nigeria is set to be discharged soon, Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire says.

On Thursday, Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire in Abuja during a conference with the diplomatic community about measures taken by the Federal Government to tackle the spread of Covid-19 in Nigeria, disclosed that the Italian man with Coronavirus will be discharged soon.

According to Dr Ehanire, there are only two confirmed cases in Nigeria as of now; the index case and the second who was a primary contact of the index case.

In February, the 44-year-old Italian citizen was confirmed positive after a series of test for Coronavirus COVID-19 were carried out by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
The Commissioner of Health in Lagos, Professor Akin Abayomi in February 29, also disclosed that the health of the Coronavirus patient was improving. This he disclosed while addressing journalists and giving an update on the patient who was being managed at the Mainland Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
