On her foray into the movie industry and her scary experience while filming in a river, TimmyK said: “Funke Akindele gave me the opportunity. It was my first movie, a Yoruba movie, Jenifa. After that, i did a couple of others within Nigeria and Ghana before I travelled to the UK, then got married at 19/20.

Then, I almost drowned in Asaba on the set of Crazy Princess. Because it was first time filming in a fast flowing water. It was so sloppy under too and dirty water. The water almost swallowed me. I practically drowned. The guards had to quickly recuse me. I enjoyed my way all through.”

In an interview with The Nation, the 48-year-old actor disclosed that he is scared of getting married. He also said it is too late to have kids even though his parents have been pushing him to get married.

“I’m not married, and I don’t intend to. Truth be told, I’m scared of marriage and I don’t think I will ever get married. .
.
Though, I wanted to have kids when I was younger but not now, it is too late. Why I said it’s too late for having children is that I am a workaholic and I don’t like a situation where I would want to sleep and then a baby starts crying. My parents have been begging me to get married but no” he said.

On what he looks out for in a woman, Olu Michaels said;

“I am a jealous man. For example, if I marry an actress and I see her kissing another actor on set, I will never tolerate such. Also, if I marry a beautiful woman, I might never concentrate on my work because I will be on the look to protect her.”

He also opened up on what he does whenever he feels lonely at night. Olu Michaels said he drives around his Mercedes Benz which has a lovely interior and sleeps off on it whenever he feels lonely.

“What I do every time I feel lonely is that I have a car that I bought with all my money. It is a Mercedes-Benz and the interior is wow. I love it. I just drive round town and get home and sleep off” he said.

So Sad! Father Writes Emotional Note For His late teenage Son who was Electrocuted In Lagos

A Nigerian man, Olorunshola Islaq Tiamiyu Etti has taken to his facebook page to pen a very emotional post following the tragic death of his son who was just 16 years old.

It was gathered that the man’s son died after being electrocuted by a transformer in Surulere, Lagos.

Read his post below:

QUENCHING THE JOY OF FAMILY

My first and eldest son, 16 years old, missed his Admission to read Law @ UNILAG, August 2019
due to the Uni’s policy of not allowing WAEC & NECO, we decided that he tries the WAEC again to have all his papers in one sitting, given his age – age 17 wouldn’t be too late to get into a University.

We enrolled him in a WAEC tuition class and to acquire a skill in mobile phone software and hardware (his passion and area of interest) at a place not far from the tuition house.

He attended the skill acqusition centre in the morning and the WAEC class in the evening, Monday to Friday..

Withing that one year of waiting for another Uni admission opportunity. A Young man, Brilliant, Vibrant, Energecti, Promising and with a passion not to be left idle for a year doing not.

On this faithful day, Wednesday 27th of November, he left home around to 11am to attend classes and at around 11:35 that day, we were called by the owner of the skill centre that our son was at the emergency ward of Randle Hospital @ surulere, Lagos,

On getting there with my wife, the mother, I was taken in separately and told that my son was electrocuted by a concrete electric pole carrying a mini Transformer and held together with metal Rods and plates. The types we see around surulere streets and was Brought in Dead.

I was led to the place where the remains of my son was covered, opened it and saw the lifeless body of my child. At first i saw myself dreaming and praying to God that it should nto allow this happen to my family, then i bursted into an uncontrollable tears.

I heard someone say in Yoruba that ”Please don’t do this your wife has fainted outside”, i quickly wiped my tears and dashed to rescue her.. What a pity, this is an aviodable death.

Like a candle placed in the wind, the innocent young man’s life was cut short as a result of a failed country where the life of her citizens is worth next to nothing, where somebody has refused to do what he’s paid to do.

I named yo Oluwatoki (God is worthy to be praised and adored), Omotolani ( a child is worth more than all other wealth) because of the circumstance surrounding your birth.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. We love and miss you.

How Tonto Dikeh & Bobrisky deceived fans with fake surgery, actress gets back passport, pays fine to Dubai court

Reprieve has come the way of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh as she not only left Dubai prison, she also got her passport back from Dubai prison authorities.

There is more to congratulate her for. Tonto Dikeh, who was detained for public misconduct during an event in Dubai and also for having traces of drugs in her blood, was rescued from deportation or imprisonment by paying a fine.

Kemiashefonlovehaven exclusively gathered that her friend, Paul O. who is the CEO, One Africa Global, who is the organiser of One Africa Music Fest, paid the fine.

“Paul O. had to pay the fine after gathering money from other friends. Remember, his event, the One Africa Music Fest, was what brought Tonto and Bobrisky to Dubai before Tonto was arrested and detained penultimate week,” a source disclosed to Kemi Ashefon.

Prior to the payment of fine in a Dubai Court, Tonto who was granted bail, could not travel to Nigeria due to the fact that her passport was seized and she had to report daily to the police in Dubai.

Bobrisky had to wait for her since they claim to be best friends.

“That was why she and Bobrisky devised a fake story of ‘surgery’. Bobrisky, had earlier in the week put up a post on Instagram that he was about having a surgery. Then, he also put up another bloody photo of a surgery he had but that he bled so much!

That was a lie! It was to buy time and also allow everyone believe they were busy having surgery in Dubai since everyone who attended the One Africa Music Fest had left Dubai and returned to Nigeria,” a source in Dubai revealed to Kemi Ashefon.

Tonto, after her release, had taken up blogger, Stella Dimoko-Korkus and written all sorts against her for breaking the news of her arrest and detention in Dubai prison.

Recall Tonto was arrested penultimate weekend when she attended an event at the Festival Arena, Festival city Dubai. She was denied entry by security personnel and her unruly behaivour earned her an arrest. After her arrest and a search was run in her hotel room, the police found out that she came to Dubai with hard drugs which she must have been taking and also some traced in her blood.

“Tonto and Bobrisky could be on their way back to Nigeria now since Tonto had been sorted out by Paul .O. There was never a surgery. Rather, there was an arrest, a detention, a bail, a fine slammed on her, a payment by Paul O and her passport released to her. She may be on her way back to Nigeria or could still be in Dubai depending on the terms laid out by the police when she was released,” sources revealed.

Though Tonto had a spat with SDK, she never denied the arrest, detention and even put up a post to acknowledge her mistakes.

She wrote:

“I’M THANKFUL FOR ALL MY MISTAKES/FAILURES. THEY ARE THE EVIDENCE THAT PROVES I TRIED. I’ve learned more from failure than I have success. It’s the training ground that’s preparing me for where I’m going. I no longer fear it. Instead, it gets me closer to the GOAL. Without it, I wouldn’t be the MAN I am today.”

Your daughter who was my classmate should have contested against me, not you – Governor Lalong mocks PDP candidate, Gen. Useni

Governor Simon Lalong has mocked the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, Lt. General Jeremiah Useni who lost out at the tribunal and the appeal court after challenging his victory at the 2019 Governorship election in Plateau state.

Lalong who recalled praying for his victory at the poll which according to him was the wish of the people of the state, stated the 76-year-old PDP Governorship candidate should have allowed his daughter who was his classmate contest against him.

Governor Lalong

“As far as I am concerned, the main election was more important for me. I did the election, I did a run off, we went to the tribunal the first time, we went again for the second time. Well I don’t know whether he is going for the third time,” he said.

“One thing I am very sure and with the confidence I have in Plateau people I know that this victory they are very happy about it. They have prayed about it and the victory is very sweet.

“I will say it again here, his (Useni) daughter was my classmate, I have told him several times, his first daughter was my classmate. So at this stage I would have been expecting his daughter to contest for governor and not him.

“His daughter was my classmate, we went to school together and so why should we be fighting? Fighting him is like fighting a father, it’s unfortunate but for me, I say my focus is Plateau state. We have done that in the first election, he was defeated, he said no, they will go back for a re-run, I said let’s go back for rerun.

“We went back for rerun I defeated him, he said no he was going for the tribunal. We went to the first tribunal, he said he is a general he doesn’t fight and retire, he will go to the Supreme Court. That I think is to make me lose focus but I have not lost any focus in Plateau State. As he is moving, I am becoming more determined because just before the judgment I think he will say go to Plateau state.”

How to pick friends in Nollywood – Ufuoma McDermott

Ufuoma McDermott

Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott, is one damsel who has been able to sustain her relevance in Nollywood, despite the challenges of marriage and motherhood.

Although, there are speculations that Ufuoma’s friendship with her colleagues – Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo and Chioma Akpotha had since packed, as it couldn’t stand the test of time, mother of two would not want to talk about that aspect of their lives.

However, going further, the actress revealed how to sustain friendship in Nollywood.
She said, ” I don’t think, I have ever sat back and drawn a plan, saying this person is going to be my friend. It just happens; your spirit just flows with certain kinds of people. You allow them into your inner circle. They look out for you, you look out for them. It is something that just happens, it is not planned.”

Explaining how she has been able to achieve a balance between being an actress, a wife and a mother, McDermott said, “I don’t there is something special because its entertainment. It’s the same way with doctors who have to go out for days and weeks. Even teachers can be transferred, diplomats who travel up and down. At the end of the day, balancing your family is dependent on you as a person, what you consider your priority and how you plan your life.”

Speaking further, the filmmaker added that she had never been under pressure to fit in as a public figure.

“It’s a case of to each their own; you will feel pressured if you want to be pressured. So I don’t feel any pressure. I am a working actor; I am not a social media actor. I act for real. Acting is my day job, so I am like the banker who gets up in the morning, goes to the bank, finishes from the bank and goes home. It’s the same for me. If I am on a movie set, I go do my job and I go home. I don’t feel any pressure as long as I don’t put it on myself,” she said.

Man called to bar after spending 12 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit

A Nigerian man identified as Akpoghene Edeno has proven to many people that with faith and determination coupled with hard work, nothing is impossible to achieve.

He was recently called to bar but his life story has left many people in awe. According to Facebook user, Charles Mallam-Obi, Edeno was imprisoned for 12 years for a murder he did not commit.

This, however, did not stop him from pursuing his dreams as he not only wrote WAEC in prison, he proceeded to study law after he was released.

The post reads:

“Akpoghene Edeno is my childhood friend who spent twelve years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit. He wrote WAEC while still in prison. He came out in 2012 and immediately proceeded to the University of Benin to study law. Today, he has been called to the Nigeria bar.

His story is a testament to how indomitable the determined human spirit is. He could have been bitter at the society for the injustice he suffered for an offense he didn’t commit. He could have been depressed. But he chose to show up and face the challenges of life.

Congratulations, my brother. The sky isn’t even your starting floor!”

22-year-old woman gang raped and shot dead in South Africa

A hitchhiking trip from job interviews in Johannesburg turned tragic for two siblings when one was gang raped and shot dead while her brother was thrown off a moving taxi.

Kwanele Fezile Zuma and Ngceboyenkosi Minende Zuma, both 22, from Carolina in Mpumalanga took a taxi back home late on Monday, after they both went for interviews in Johannesburg.

A bruised Ngceboyenkosi told Sowetan on Thursday, that because it was late, they could only get a taxi that goes as far as Emalahleni, about 110km away from home. They then had to hitchhike to Carolina.

“We both attended our interviews on Monday morning. When we were done, we headed home because Kwanele had to go to work the next day as she was a general worker at a mine in Carolina. The taxi [from Johannesburg] dropped us off in Witbank and we hitchhiked. Another taxi with several men inside stopped to give us a ride. I then realised that the taxi was taking a road to Ogies and before I could ask any questions, one of the men hit me with a gun in the back of my head. They threw me out of the moving taxi,” said Ngceboyenkosi. He said he blacked out and only woke up in hospital the next day, where he was told that Kwanele was dead.

“I am unable to walk, hence I’m on this wheelchair. Doctors say my spinal cord is injured.”

The siblings’ brother, Sanele Zuma, said Kwanele was raped by the men before being shot in the head.

“We waited for them until 10pm [on Monday]. We thought they were stranded. The next morning, our other brother and my elder sister went to tell her manager at the mine that she won’t be coming to work. We went to the police to report that my siblings were missing; and at around 10am, we got a call that they have been found and were in hospital. But when we asked Ngceboyenkosi about Kwanele, he told us that he last saw her in the taxi before he was thrown out,” said Sanele.

Provincial police spokesperson Brig Leonard Hlathi said they were investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and possible rape.

“They were robbed of their belongings…,” said Hlathi.

Kwanele’s mother Margaret Zuma said she was hoping that her daughter would find a better job so that their finances could improve. Kwanele only started working at the mine last month.

“I’m very hurt about this. When she went for this interview I thought she would take us to greener pastures … but I didn’t know that going to this interview would lead to her death.”

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted N100 million bail to embattled Nigerian big man, Ismaila Mustapha, otherwise known as Mompha.

Justice Mohammed Liman granted him bail on Friday after Mompha’s arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mompha, who was arrested on October 19 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja was arraigned on Monday on 14 counts bordering on fraud, money laundering and running a foreign exchange business without the authorisation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The EFCC alleges that Mompha procured Ismalob Global Investment Limited and retained in its bank account an aggregate of N32.9 billion between 2015 and 2018.

Mompha pleaded not guilty to the charges.
