Fela’s daughter cautions man who said Davido is a better singer than her father

Motunrayo Anikulapo Kuti, the daughter of the late Nigerian music icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has replied a man who compared her father to Davido.

Fela's daughter

Efe Kpokpogri, a netizen had said “Davido is better” than Fela – this angered Motunrayo and she made her feelings known.

See below,

Fela's daughter

This isn’t the first time Fela’s daughter would be reacting to issues concerning Davido – last year she narrated an encounter she had with him at the New Afrika Shrine.

“Last week, I contacted an Instagram page that has been promoting Davido to post and promote a content I’ve and they said since I’m Fela’s daughter I should pay N20,000. I told them I couldn’t afford N20,000 but N10,000. I later said I would pay N15,000 because I had just N20,000 in my account and I couldn’t exhaust all of it. They made jest of me saying ‘Oh, Fela’s daughter had only N20,000 in her account’. This is one of the reasons I don’t like him; I’ve never liked him.”

“There was a time he came to Afrikan Shrine and sat on my chair; I told him he was sitting on my chair that I was older than him with more than 8 years, that, he should get up for me. I advised him not to think that because he’s Davido he can just come and sit on my chair. He eventually stood up though.”

“I don’t think Davido is a good artiste, I don’t like him. I’ve never related to his songs because he usually sings about girls, love, money and I’m not interested in that kind of music. I want music that would give me intelligence, music that would make me feel okay when I’m in a particular situation, not songs that would be telling me about a woman, a gold digger, an expensive shoe, accessory or whatever

Kolade Johnson fiancée speaks, breaks down in tears

Imo State born Stefany was having a cheerful Sunday on March 31, 2019 when her phone rang. The display would show that it was the unlikeliest of callers.

It was a friend of her fiancé – Kolade Johnson–on the other end.

“I was at home and I received a call from his friend who was trying to know if I had heard from him. And I’m like ‘no, we haven’t spoken’”, Stefany tells Pulse in an emotion laden voice. She had been crying for two days when we hit her up.

“The way he sounded—because I don’t really talk to that his friend—I knew something was wrong. Like, we don’t talk regularly. So, for that call to come and the first thing he asked me was ‘have you heard from ‘Kaylo?’, I was like no. I called his niece immediately because this friend hung up and said ‘I will call you back’. So, he hung up”.

Kolade Johnson fiancée

A couple of calls later and Stefany would learn that her boyfriend, 36-year-old Johnson of Ogun State descent, had been shot dead by a police officer as he ventured out to catch a Live English Premiership football game, in the Mangoro, Onipetesi suburb of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

“So, I called the mum and I spoke to his friends that were right there and they confirmed it that he is dead and they are trying to take him into the morgue”, Stefany says, her words threatening to drown in more tears.

“Nobody could tell me the full story then. They just said it is SARS. I was even thinking, I don’t get. Why would SARS look for Kolade. He doesn’t…when he sees police like this, he would rather make a U-Turn or something. He doesn’t like to get into their trouble…” she adds.

Police brutality once more

SARS is an acronym for the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

For years, SARS has become synonymous with extra-judicial killings, human rights abuses, extortion and excessive use of force when dealing with members of the public.

However, the world would later learn that the police unit culpable for the disturbance and shootings in Mangoro on the day, was the lesser known but no less deadly Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS).

Stefany says, “So, I came on the internet and I saw the story trending and I was very surprised”. She adds that the bereaved family is inconsolable at the moment.
“No one in the family is finding it easy. No one wants to believe it is true. Especially his mum. His mum hasn’t eaten. As of yesterday, when they broke the news to her in the morning, the only thing she had till I left her in the morning was tea. And even when they induced her to sleep, she refused to. She’s elderly, she’s sickly, because she has high BP. They induced her with sleeping injections but it didn’t even have an effect on her”, Stefany shares further.

Kaylo and who he was

‘Kaylo’ is what Stefany called Kolade Johnson and how she still refers to him. She would never come to terms with the fact that her Kaylo is no more, she says.

“He was my fiancé. We didn’t have a child together but he has a child. We had many plans (including getting married). Many plans.
“Kaylo was a very easy going person. Very friendly. Very, very friendly. Anybody that has met him and spent time with him would tell you that he didn’t like trouble, he didn’t like stress. He was very helpful, very homely. He was just a good person. He was a peace maker who didn’t like to oppress anyone. He didn’t like anyone being oppressed. That’s who Kolade was”.

Kaylo and Stefany were self-employed—eking out a living in Lagos’ arduous and unforgiving streets. They were essentially ‘legitimate, honest hustlers’.

Stefany says: “I am into fashion and entertainment, I do tailoring. I sell accessories and make-up. Kolade didn’t have a stable job per se. He was self-employed as well. He was doing music by the side, he had this Agric business he was trying to run, farm feeds and stuff like that. That’s what he was doing to keep up for the moment…”

And then March 31 happened.

Since Kaylo’s death, Stefany has been clutching a pair of black and red slippers. It was what her fiance wore on the day the stray bullet hit him, cutting short his life and plans with her, in an instant. It’s what she says she’ll always keep with her as a way of helping her deal with the loss of her Kaylo.

“This is all Kolade left me”, she says amid tears. “This is all Kaylo left for me…

The police command has arrested the officers alleged to have taken Kaylo’s life.

“The Nigerian music industry is fake” – Kcee declares

Five Star Music Star, Kcee has said that the music industry is full of fake people and that there are certain people who have monopolized the gains of the music business, making it hard for others to enjoy its dividends.

Kcee declares

While speaking with Saturday Beats, Kcee said he watched Waje’s emotional video which saw the vocal powerhouse saying she may retire from the music business as it has not been profitable.

Reacting to the video, Kcee said;

I saw Waje’s video and I was touched. I was supposed to say something about it but I was busy with my album project. However, I spoke to a few people about it. The truth is that the industry is a fake one; I am not just talking about the Nigerian music industry, but globally. Everybody is struggling. I have been in this business for 19 years and at every point in time, you have A-list artistes and they are about ten.

“These set of people are the ones making all the money. There are hundreds of artistes behind them struggling to get to make it to the top ten list. These other artistes keep spending the same amount of money (the A-list artistes spend) to just get there and they also have to live like a celebrity. This costs a lot of money. If you do not have the drive and focus to keep the fire burning, it is going to weigh you down”

On his contribution to the music industry, he said Nigerians need to start regarding him as a living legend.

“Of course I am a living legend if you do not call me that, I would call myself that. I know how the journey has been; it has not been easy. It has been so tough, it has always been up and down but I have been able to move from one generation to another and I have also contributed my quota as an artiste in the industry, so I stand as a legend right now. For me to be in the business for close to two decades is not a joke,” the singer said.

“I only shot once,” – Officer explains how Kolade Johnson was killed

Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan (middle) says he didn’t intend to kill Kolade Johnson (right) when he shot in the air during an altercation in Lagos State that led to the death of the 36-year-old. Sergeant Godwin Orji (left) is also implicated in the shooting with both officers expected to be charged to court for murder.

Johnson was was killed on Sunday, March 31, 2019 when officers of the unit, led by Olalekan, were attempting to arrest another man because of his dreadlocks in the Mangoro area of the state.

When he was paraded alongside Sergeant Godwin Orji as the main suspects in Johnson’s shooting on Tuesday, April 2, Olalekan said he didn’t intend to shoot the deceased father of one.

According to him, he only shot once in the air after his team was mobbed while trying to arrest a suspected cultist.

He said, “We heard a distress call that we should move to Mangoro. So, on getting there, we saw a group of guys smoking Indian hemp. We thought they’re cultists and effected an arrest there.

“Suddenly, they mobbed us, me and my boys. So, in terms of escaping them, I fired up.

“I didn’t know how it got to meet the guy in question that was shot dead, I don’t know. I only fired one up.”

Eyewitnesses contradict Olalekan’s story

Contrary to Olalekan’s version of events, an eyewitness, identified as Mr Nana, who was with Johnson when he was shot, said Olalekan trained his gun on them.

“Kolade stood right beside me, he didn’t talk. I was the one that spoke. Next thing I saw was he pointed a gun at us and shot twice,” he said.

Nana said he and Kolade left the relaxation spot where they were watching an English Premier League game on Sunday after hearing pleas for help outside.

They discovered that the officers were trying to arrest Ismail Folorunsho, a young man who appeared to have been targeted for arrest because of his dreadlocks, a common practice by the anti-cultism unit.

Folorunsho told Channels Television that he was trying to board a bus when an officer came out of nowhere to arrest him.

He said attempts to question the officers about why he was being arrested and where he was being taken to led to him being assaulted.

The struggle that ensued was what drew Nana and Johnson to where the fatal shooting eventually happened.

Many of the rapper’s fans have used the opportunity to ask the “Jeje” crooner, about things they’ve always wanted to know about him.

Falz’ reply

For a period of time, there’d been speculations that the rapper and Simi were romantically involved. Their undeniable chemistry whenever they do a duet in recording songs even fueled the speculations more.

It however came as a surprise to fans when social media was set abuzz with the news that she married colleague, Adekunle Gold in a private wedding ceremony in Lagos, earlier this year.

Participating in the #RhythmasFalz, a fan asked the rapper if he still loves the “Joromi” singer and his answer was indecisive.

Time to speak out rather than committing suicide

I am Obi Peter, a Nigerian soldier shot by Boko Haram terrorists in Maiduguri on January 25th 2015. I have been on admission till December 2018 when I was forced to visit my unit from Kaduna Military by the Army Hospital director to come back when an approval of fund for my further treatment is made

When I was coming back, I had a fatal auto accident but God saved me, the car summersaulted more than six times and also fell on tress and buildings on motion. Since then, I have been passing through pains and the people that forced me to travel never care to know how I am feeling till now.

Even when I contacted them severally about the incident. Before I was forced to leave the hospital pending when an aprroval of fund for my further treatment is made, some dignitaries tried to assist but all to no avail. Few names I will mention tried their best but the same people that sent me to battlefield still kept silent about it.

I can’t forget Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, Barrister Chijioke Onwubuariri, Maj Gen. Okeke, Hon. Franklin Ibeh, Mayor Kenneth Emejuru, Gen, Onibasa, some senior officers of the Nigerian Military, some firends here I never seen in my life and also my uncle and some of my cousins.

For your love and assistance, my people, all is not well. I am still too young, the burden is much on me. I am feeling rejected and abandoned. Friends are avoiding me now, even my own people I went to represent, no one comes close to me again. People don’t respond to my calls or reply my text messages. I don’t know my offence people. I don’t know if it is a crime to serve and defend my country.

Please come to my rescue, I’m dying. Thanks for your understanding and may the good lord continue to bring my destiny helper through you all. I have attavhed some pictures here to provemy predicaments.

Minor accuses Winners Chapel pastor of introducing her to alcohol and repeatedly having sex with her.

A 17-year old girl has accused the resident Pastor of the Amagba branch of the Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel, Pastor Kingsley Emeka Mokwunye, of introducing her to alcohol and repeatedly having sex with her even in her father’s house.

Speaking in tears, the victim whose name was withheld by the police, said her affair with her pastor began in September last year shortly after she finished her secondary education.

“He used to call me to advise me to stay away from boys, to live a good life and always respect my parents. I took it like he was my own father that I could trust and tell him anything I want to say.

“That was how he started calling me, talking to me till it got to a time he told me that he likes me. I took it as a normal thing. He started taking advantage of me. He tells me I do not know what he is doing for me. He started showing me things I have not seen before and took me to places I have never been to. That was how it started. He was the first person to show me how condom looked like. He taught me how to take alcohol. He told me not to tell my parents. He said they will understand what he is doing. He slept with me many times including our house when my parents are not at home.

“Thinking about the thing has affected me educationally. I could not read. The whole thing was disturbing me. When I told his wife, she said I was lying and told me to come to their house and repeat it before her husband. I want Pastor Kingsley to go to jail. I was always shocked anytime I am in church and see him preaching. I was afraid of telling my mother what was happening”.

Her father, Mr Paul Obidah, who serves as a board chairman of the church branch, said he was shocked that a Pastor he trusted so much could do such an evil thing to his only daughter.

”Please forgive us” – Retired Boko Haram members beg Nigerians

Boko Haram members beg

Repentant terrorists of the Boko Haram sect have pleaded with Nigerians to forgive them for their abhorrent activities over the years.

The ex-terrorists made the appeal after their graduation from a de-radicalisation exercise and vocational training organised for them by the Federal Government which took place at the former permanent NYSC Orientation camp in Mallam-Sidi town in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State yesterday April 3rd.

Bappah Mura, a former member of the sect who was once a farmer, said he was deceived into joining the group only to realise that all they were told were lies;

“I beg Nigerians for forgiveness. I regret totally what we were forced to do; it was not my intention but I beg for forgiveness. I was a humble farmer before I was deceived to join the Boko Haram sect. All they told us were different from all we were made to do; they lied to me and deceived many of us. My heart bleeds that we were used to destroy lives and property by the sect. But today, I am so happy that we have been trained and made to acquire skills in different ventures. I am grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Army” Bappah said

Abana Ali, a 62-year-old repentant member said he was sorry for everything, noting that they were also terrorised while with the sect until the army came to their rescue.

“I am deeply pained in the heart that we had been associated with such a devilish group; I beg Nigerians to forgive and accept us back. We were deceived and forced to join the sect; because of my age, I was not allowed to partake in their operations, but was made to do menial jobs in their camps; we were also terrorised and enslaved, until the Army rescued us.

“We are grateful to the Federal Government for the show of love; the de-radicalisation training has been helpful and now I do not need to go home to beg, but to contribute what I have been taught. Nigerian youths out there, I tell you the truth; there is no gain being Boko Haram members, except for regret and intense sorrow; we pray that no youth witness the harsh condition we were subjected to”

Omotola Jalade recounts how her first daughter cheated death and overcame brain damage.

Omotola Jalade recounts

Nollywood Actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has taken to her social media page to recount how her first daughter, Princess, cheated date and recovered from Brain damage.

Posting this lovely photo of Princess who turned a year older some days ago, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde shared one of her profound experiences as a mother.

She wrote ;

”She was barely a year, she started running a temperature, can’t remember how many hours anymore… she is our first child and we had not much experience. Gave her some medication didn’t seem to get better…suddenly, she slipped into what seemed to be a COMA.
I panicked,we all did… neighbors everyone screaming and suggesting all sorts…. she was clenching her teeth fiercely, an Old woman we knew in the neighborhood suggested to put a spoon and pour SALT into her mouth (Totally wrong move)”Pls cold shower”…

We rushed her to the hospital and at first, the doctors were a bit reluctant ( I guess they thought it was a lost case) however, almost without much hurry she was worked on and miraculously, she came back!
She had prior turned cold and was not responsive… hmm
We were told , it was “High fever” it had affected her brain and she could probably not develop normally or be able to catch up with her peers. Short of saying a vegetable…. As people of faith, we called on God, used proper medication and most importantly, applied extra lessons and treated her Normal as others.

At first it was challenging, as she grew, she struggled, mostly with her sight. She couldn’t see things right in front of her! Even in school , she would be put in front and still not see. A few changed schools, glasses, extra lessons …we kept pushing.

At every level Princess Worked Extremely hard, harder than others . Always trying to prove everyone wrong and pass.

Every time we feared or doubted, she passed with flying colors and moved to the Next phase! Miracles before our eyes… Today she not only finished well from Uni, she insists on going for her Masters and is conquering all her fears.

Yesterday, she drove with her dad without instructions back and forth in traffic all around v.i.
You might not really understand this but anyone whose been told they can’t achieve or do something especially for health reasons will understand.

This is the first time I am saying this in public and Many will be shocked, some might go,oh… now I understand… Princess, you’ve been an inspiration to Me without even knowing. May you inspire others too. God Continue to Bless you my #WCE”.
