Singer Simi tackles Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo after a controversial teaching on Instagram

Nigerian Singer, Simi got into a debate with Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo on Instagram after the pastor shared a controversial message on his Instagram page.

While speaking to his members, Pastor Kingsley said women are more emotionally mature than men and from a very young age, women already know what they want, whereas men at the same age are only thinking of football and sex.

Simi tackles Pastor Kingsley

He added that “God put so much sexual passion in men, expecting that women will obey him by doing access denied so that if he wants so much sex, he should marry.”

He then said that women giving men sex freely is the reason why men have refused to get married to them because they can get sex without being married to them.

The problem began when male followers jumped on the comment section and saw Pastor Kingsley’s message as an excuse for their lack of self-control.

One Male follower with the handle @lekanrubber, in his comment, took advantage of Pastor Kingsley’s message to make a case for men who ask women for sexual favours before they do anything for them. Hiding under the cover that the message provided, the follower pushed responsibility for men’s action to the women.

Simi would then jump on Lekanrubber’s comment to correct that delusion and she told Pastor Kingsley that the problem with his preaching is that it causes men to think and act like @lekanrubber.

She told him that he was placing sole responsibility on the women while excusing men’s lack of self-control. She warned that such preaching will make men reluctant to take responsibility or to exercise self control.

And pastor Kingsley replied, saying his message doesn’t demean one sex. In a follow up post, he referred to Simi and other women who were opposed to his post as “freedom fighters” and said he doesn’t have the patience to entertain them so he blocks them.

Excepts from the Manual…. to get full message go to www.lovedatingandmarriage. Org or reach @ldmwithpk PLS NOTE they were only WOMEN in this hall (about 2000 of them) so the message was for women, we also speak to men, the male version was held a week after and had thousands of men too (titled MANDATE ) message also available on the website so pls don't come and say what of the men…. And if you still want to know why we kind of address wome more it's simple- women are the ones affected more by bad relationships, women are the ones that feel used when sex is involved, women get pregnant, women abort or stay with the baby, women deal with the shame so that's why we try to protect women. Oh and by the way I agree that more should be done to mentor men and we are already working on different things to achieve that.

8-Year-Old Nigerian Homeless Refugee Child Crowned New York Chess Champion

Nigerian Homeless Refugee Child Crowned New York Chess Champion

An 8-year-old Nigerian homeless refugee child, Tanitoluwa Adewumi, was crowned a New York chess champion for his age group last weekend.

Tanitoluwa Adewumi who fled Nigeria with his family in 2017 and is now living in a homeless shelter in New York City while his asylum application is pending, won his category at the New York State chess championship. He went undefeated at the state tournament last weekend, outwitting children from elite private schools with private chess tutors.

The 8-year-old Nigerian homeless refugee child who was recently crowned a New York Chess Champion, moved to the US with his family to escape Boko Haram, a terrorist group responsible for atrocious attacks. He enrolled in a local elementary school with his siblings not long after they arrived, and he discovered the chess club. However after his mother is mother Oluwatoyin emailed them to say that while they could not afford to pay the fees attached, the club waived the fees because he was quite eager to participate.

Tani does not only play with them, he also attends a free three-hour practice session in Harlem every Saturday to master his game. At night, he uses his father’s laptop to practice. A year ago the boy took part in his first tournament with the lowest rating of any participant, 105.

His rating is now 1587 and rising fast. (By comparison, the world’s best player, Magnus Carlsen, stands at 2845.) Tani has an aggressive style of play, and in the state tournament the coaches, watching from the sidelines, were shocked when he sacrificed a bishop for a lowly pawn. Alarmed, they fed the move into a computer and it agreed with Tani, recognizing that the gambit would improve his position several moves later.

It is sometimes tough for Tani, as his parents disclosed that he once came home from school crying after classmates teased him for being homeless. And at an immigration hearing last fall, he burst into tears when he misunderstood the judge to say that the family would be deported.

This idea of looking like a slay queen and setting up a social media account and using same to solicit help is not going to get us anywhere. That’s why 100s of thousands will flood reality show auditions. See the number of hustlers on Lagos streets, hawking and grinding daily. Some, make like 2K a day. Some make more. I didn’t get here by a stroke of luck.

I have squatted, been homeless in Lagos, worked for free, took paid employment with #DPLekkiLtd when it seemed that comedy didnt pick up like I thought it would. Let’s stop encouraging this lazy behaviours. It will continue to encourage many who see others succeeding at it. The girls coming to do pedicure, weave your hair, pick up househelp jobs, waiters at restaurants, ushers, and so on you think they don’t have pride or don’t have a reason to want to take their lives? Please, find something to do. I have between ages 16 and 25, been in all kinds of jobs. Wasn’t any easier. Shoemaker. Bricklayer. Carpenter. Sand digger. Conductor. Bakery worker. Brewery worker. Extra Murals teacher. Kabukabu driver. Smooth mellow deejay. Break dancer… there are several things to do while waiting for things to happen. Begging isn’t one of them

‘I was a monster to him’ – John Fashanu opens up on death of his gay brother 21-years after

Former footballer turned Sports Consultant, John Fashanu has opened up on the death of his Gay brother Justin Fashanu, admitting regret of being part of the culture that condemned his elder brother, leading to his death.

In 1988, the former Wimbledon star was in the glitzy Dorchester Hotel, celebrating with his team-mates after their FA Cup astonishing victory against Liverpool when a group of players were laughing and joking about the fact that his brother Justin was gay.

John says: ‘At that time, anybody saying my brother was gay was reason to fight them. Now you wouldn’t think twice about it. But then it was an insult to my family name. One of my brothers was gay. Are you mad?’

Ten years later his brother Justin, the first £1million black footballer and first openly gay professional killed himself after he became a victim of racism and homophobia.

He hanged himself in a deserted garage after being wrongly accused of sexual assault.

‘It was a horrible day,’ adds John, who was a year younger than his brother. ‘While Justin wrestled with a number of personal demons in his life, it is clear that issues around his sexuality were at the heart of his problems.

‘There is no question that the prejudice he encountered in his professional life as a top-flight footballer for club and country blighted his career and led eventually to his death. It is a sad reflection of the continuing issues that surround professional football that, 20 years after Justin’s death, there is not a single openly gay footballer in the Premier League.

‘This is a situation that defies logic and underlines the fact that, 20 years after Justin’s death, it is still not considered advisable to be openly gay.

The 56-year-old readily admitted that he acted like a ‘monster’ towards his brother after discovering he was homosexual in 1990.

According to him, he did not believe the gossip that Justin was gay but, after his brother confirmed the rumours, he paid him £75,000 to keep quiet.

Later, when Justin came out in The Sun under the headline ‘£1million Football Star: I am Gay,’ he felt betrayed. Eight days later, he hit back, doing an interview with The Voice, saying: ‘My Gay Brother is an Outcast’.

‘Initially, I didn’t believe him,’ says Fashanu, who now runs a Sports Academy in Nigeria. ‘When I confronted him and he said he was gay, I just thought he was doing it for attention.

‘Of course you’re gay,’ I thought. ‘Stop showing off. You’re trying to take my glory. You’re not going to do it. I’m the No1 footballer, I’ve taken your position, I’m now in the Premiership and playing for England. You’re now smoking out, having injuries and you just want to take my platform’.

That was what I was thinking. So I said: ‘Here, I’m going to give you £75,000 on the condition that you stop telling everybody you’re gay because no one cares’.

‘I then put him in a beautiful hotel in central London and asked my then manager to keep him there for a few weeks to calm him down. Little did I realise that he was gay too and sympathised with Justin. They colluded together and came up with the front-page story in the Sun.

‘I was livid. I thought he was a scam artist, taking money from me and taking money from the newspaper. I couldn’t understand then — although I can now — why he thought it was necessary to tell all and sundry that he was a homosexual. After all, I’m a heterosexual but I don’t go around singing that I’m a heterosexual.

‘Now I see the frustration and confusion he must have been going through. He must have just wanted to bare his soul. But homophobia was the rage then. You couldn’t even say the word homosexuality 30 years ago. My immediate thought was to protect my siblings, protect my mother and father and protect my loved ones around me.’

In the lengthy interview, Fashanu who scored 134 league goals in almost 400 games at Wimbledon and four other clubs, said it was sibling rivalry that tore the brothers apart.

‘I think it was sibling rivalry,’ he says. ‘And then you add the football, you add the showbiz, you add the celebrity, you add the money. Oh my goodness. That made the relationship quite toxic.

‘Money is a very powerful influencer when you don’t have any. I can remember going to my foster parents house and going through Justin’s numerous suits, looking for money in the pockets because I was broke.

‘I wouldn’t say I was jealous of him — I was happy for his success — but I felt annoyed that he wasn’t supporting me. I was very cross because he had a lot of money and wouldn’t give me any.

‘With the benefit of hindsight, I think he wanted me to learn the hard way. He would say: “You are not going to be a freeloader, John. You are not going to sponge off me. You will work for your money”. But at the time I couldn’t see it. I thought he was a meanie pants. Now, 30 years later, I say: “Thank you so much for assisting me to understand you have to work for your own money”.’

But it was very different when the tables were reversed and John became a millionaire. Then Justin would ask him for money and, as the dutiful younger brother, he paid up. ‘I was very generous,’ he says with a laugh.

‘And, of course, I loved him.’ Contrary to reports at the time, the two brothers were not estranged when Justin died. In fact, when Justin fled America after being wrongly accused of sexual assault, he turned to his brother. John last saw him on April 30, 1998, two days before he died.

‘Sometimes we had three months, sometimes it was five months we didn’t speak,’ says John. ‘But we would still pick up the phone and shout abuse at each other, as brothers do. I think I was one of the last people to actually see him. He came to my penthouse in St John’s Wood.

‘The dynamics had changed so quickly, from me not having any money and him being loaded, to me suddenly having crazy money and him having no money at all.’

It was at that time that John had a premonition about his brother.

‘I actually called my mum and said that I think Justin is going to take his life,’ he says. I saw the narrative. I saw that he was looking like a man on some sort of downward spiral.

‘I think he was lost. I think he was defeated. I thought: “This is not good. I think Justin is going to do something silly”.’

Two days later on May 2, when John and his second wife Melissa were christening their oldest son Amir, now 21, his brother hanged himself in a deserted garage.

‘My then wife and I were arguing over whether to christen him Amir Justin Fashanu,’ he says. ‘I was refusing because he had caused me so much stress. Just as I changed my mind, there was a knock at the door. I opened the door and there were two police officers. They said: “Is that John Fashanu? We have bad news to tell you. Your brother has passed away.” I said: “What do you mean? He’s dead?”

It was so traumatic. I thought it was some sort of horrible joke gone wrong. The challenge was how do we tell my mother Pearl, who was already not very well. She had cancer and we all knew telling her would kill her and we were right.

‘We drove to her house but didn’t say anything. She just looked at us and burst into tears and said: “I know he’s dead”. Then literally on Justin’s birthday the following year, she passed away.’

‘I’m sad that I wasn’t able to communicate better with Justin and a lot more often,’ he adds.

‘Communication stops wars. But life is too short for regrets. What we couldn’t see many years ago, we can now see.

‘We cannot go back and change the narrative but we can move forward and make changes for the future. Hopefully, our foundation will be a major stepping stone to change.

‘Justin was a wonderful brother and achieved so many goals: he was a great athlete, the first black £1m footballer, had the best goal of the year — which was an amazing goal — and bigger than all of those accolades, he was my brother.

‘He propelled me into the limelight: a high percentage of my achievements in this world have been because of him. Not only was I able to film the biggest television show in the world for 13 years, Gladiators, but I won the FA Cup in 1988 with Wimbledon, the Crazy Gang.

‘All my achievements were phenomenal. And they wouldn’t have happened without Justin.’

The former footballer and his oldest daughter Amal, a 29-year-old TV presenter and bag designer, are launching a foundation on April 1 in an attempt to fight out homophobia in football and increase the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender players (LGBT) in the sport.

According to him, the Justin Fashanu Foundation will collaborate with the professional bodies in organising fundraisers and raising sponsorship in a bid to eliminate prejudice in the sport.

‘Our mission is to confront discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in football at all levels and empower them to participate without regard to their sexuality,’ says John. ‘We want to ensure that professional footballers can be open about their sexuality without the fear of public disapproval or professional disadvantage.

‘Thirty years ago, when I was at my peak playing football, the climate wasn’t conducive for anybody to come out. It wasn’t conducive for anyone to say they were bisexual, homosexual, LGBT.

‘But times have changed. The reaction has been overwhelming. It has been amazing. It’s almost like people are saying now: “Please come out. Have a free spirit. Have a free will. Be who you are”. There are a lot of people we hope to inspire to be free to come out and nobody will persecute them as I did with my brother many years ago.’

I get this question every time and perhaps one of the reasons I love the name Honeypot is, because people raise eye brows whenever they hear it and they remember anytime they see me. I have said it like one million times and I’m saying this again “God gave me the name ‘Honeypot’”.

OAP Honeypot who further disclosed that she is very easy to maintain if her prospective lover is rich, stated that all she wants is driving beautiful cars, changing her clothes and having money to spend. She said;

I don’t know how easy it will be to answer this question. I think it depends on the individual, to me, it’s Showbiz, I do TV and TV is like 95% glamour, you have to look good at all time. I am easy to maintain if you are rich, just make sure I’m driving beautiful cars, I change cloths every time, I get to spend money every time, money is good, you can agree with me that it makes the world go round, right?

New Zealand Massacre: Nigerian Imam who survived the attack speaks.

New Zealand Massacre

Alabi Lateef, a Nigerian Imam who saved several lives during the New Zealand terror attack, has broken his silence about the massacre.

Lateef was at the Linwood mosque in Christchurch on March 15, when gunman, Brenton Tarrant, opened fire on worshippers killing at least 7 people, after already killing 42 people at the Al Noor mosque.

At the Linwood mosque, worshippers were about to drop to the floor for the second part of the prayer service, when Lateef spotted the gunman.

Hearing gunfire outside, the Imam shouted ‘go down’, warning the worshippers to take cover.

In a chat with The New Zealand Herald, he said:

“When I saw those Muslims shot dead, I just told our brothers, ‘Go down! Go down! Somebody has just shot our brothers outside the masjid.

No one listened to me until unfortunately he came from behind and he shot one of our brothers in the head through the window. He saw him standing and shot him through the window.

When glass got broken and the brother fell down, everyone realised to go down.”

The Imam rushed outside with fellow worshipper, Abdul Aziz, who picked up a credit card machine on his way.

Aziz told NZ Herald that he threw the machine at the gunman, who was running back to his car to get another weapon. The terrorist responded by firing at Aziz, who ran through a sea of parked cars to escape the bullets, picking up a discarded gun.

Squeezing the trigger, Aziz realised it was empty, so he hurled it at the gunman’s car.
Jumping into his vehicle, the terrorist made a u-turn and sped away.

Lateef, who had locked the main door of the mosque to keep those inside safe, then called the emergency services, also doing his best to help those wounded.

“I can’t believe… I thought I’d be gone. I was ready to die because I felt for the brothers,” he added.

Prostitute speaks on why sleeping with married men is a ‘service’ to wives

A sex merchant has revealed that she pays her bills and supports her family by sleeping with married men who are willing to pay and that her services are to help their wives at home, with their marital duties.

Her story is one of the powerful narratives that make up 5Star documentary, Sex On The Streets reported by Mirror Online.

Journalist Storm Huntley speaks to a high class call girl operating from her home in south London, a sex worker who has been brutally attacked and finds out what it’s really like to sell your body on the streets.

But one mum-of-two, who admits she has several married clients, insists sex work does not end marriages – and can have the opposite impact.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said:

“I help families and keep them together. “I do worry about the pain I cause but I find if a husband is using escorts then it’s better than if he meets another woman and develops feelings. “This is just sex and just physical.”

The mother of two revealed how she came to be working in the sex industry, where she can meet with up to three clients in a single day.

She said:

“After I had my two children I was left in a lot of debt. A friend did this and she suggested I should try it and I’ve never looked back.”

Prof. Pius Adesanmi’s Widow Breaks Silence, Talks About The Indescribable Pain In Her Heart

Professor Pius Adesanmi’s widow, Olumuyiwa Balogun-Adesanmi, has released an official statement since the death of her husband who was one of the victims of the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed on Sunday, 10th of March, 2019.

Mrs. Olumuyiwa Balogun-Adesanmi, in her tribute to her late husband described him as a gem who stood by his words and was also looked up to by his peers and proteges.

I have no words to describe the depths of my pain on the untimely passing of my husband, Pius Adesanmi. He was an extraordinary scholar, husband, devoted father and a fine gentleman.

He was an uncommon breed. He wrote about human rights, gender equality and human dignity. He practised what he preached. I am a living witness to the kindness of his soul and love for others.

Pius Adesanmi enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Our daughter Tise’s words often tugged at his heart every time he needed to travel. He compensated for his regular absences by being generous with his time. He was witty, funny and a joy to behold.

My family and I have been touched by the incredible demonstrations of support and waves of condolences sent our way. I have learned about people of all ages and backgrounds, who never met Pius Adesanmi but broke down in tears when they learned of his death.

I am comforted by the sheer enormity of the lives he touched. He lived and died in pursuit of a better world. He lived and died in service to Africa. Nigeria was dear to his heart and he longed for Nigeria’s development. Pius Adesanmi was also a Canadian citizen and deeply appreciated the blessings of making Canada home.

I appreciate the tremendous support from the Canadian and the Nigerian governments. The administration, students and faculty at Carleton University have been exemplary in our moment of grief.

The academic community in Canada, Nigeria and around the world have been immense in their tributes. I applaud all individuals and institutions around the world that have held or plan to hold vigils, processions and other events to mark my husband’s transition.

I thank all local, national and international media organizations for their professionalism in the coverage of the unfortunate crash. Our extended family, neighbours, and friends from all areas of human endeavour have stood solidly by us. I am deeply grateful. Mo dupe, E se pupo, Merci. Thank you.

Pius Adebola Adesanmi, the whole family misses you. I miss you. I miss your laughter, ebullience, reassuring presence as well as the effervescence and incandescence of your person. ‘Bola, you were an uncommon star in the firmament of God’s creation. Oko mi, sun re o (sleep well, my husband). O daro o. Goodnight, Okun ‘Bola.

Having Lots Of Followers Doesn’t Make Anyone A Super Hero – Yvonne Jegede says

Yvonne Jegede says

Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede has asserted that having lots of followers/fans does not make anyone a superhero.

According to the beautiful mother of one, it is easier for them to choose role models within their circle, instead of looking up to a celebrity they know nothing about.

She wrote,

THE OTHER DAY I SAID PEOPLE SHOULD LOOK FOR ROLE MODELS WITHIN THEIR CIRCLE OR FOLKS AND PEOPLE WENT BIZARRE ON ME.

THESE PEOPLE YOU SEE ONLINE ARE HUMANS WHO HAVE ISSUES THEY ARE DEALING WITH JUST LIKE YOU.

pROBLEMS THEY CAN’T SHARE DUE TO THE STATUS THEY HAVE ACQUIRED IN THE LINE OF DUTY BECAUSE THEY CAN’T TRUST ANYONE ANYMORE, DEMONS THEY ARE BATTLING WITH WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT AT NIGHT.

LET PEOPLE YOU KNOW, PEOPLE YOU SEE EVERYDAY INFLUENCE YOU AND BE WISE IN YOUR CHOICES IN LIFE.

BECAUSE THEY HAVE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS AND MILLIONS OF FOLLOWERS DON’T MAKE THEM SUPERHEROES. #BEGUIDED
