Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has inaugurated his legal team to challenge the result of the presidential election.
A statement issued by Paul Ibe, his media aide, noted that the legal team would be headed by Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN).
He said:
“I have just inaugurated my legal team and charged them with the responsibility of ensuring that our stolen mandate is retrieved.
I am encouraged by the presence of fearless men and women of the Bench. The judiciary, which had in the past discharged itself ably, is once again being called upon to deliver judgement on this matter that will be untainted by lucre and uncowed by the threat of immoral power.”
Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church has lampooned the presidential and National Assembly elections which he believes were rigged.
Speaking during the Sunday service at the Church headquarter in Ota, Ogun State, Oyedepo mocked the irregularities that marred the exercise and also prayed that Nigeria would not experience another war as a result of the remaining elections.
Oyedepo said: “Other developed countries around the world had developed their mode of voting into a digitised method, but it’s a shame that in Nigeria, we still queue up to vote, and somebody would still be intimidated by thugs. With these, it’s a shame how politicians in this part of the world are proud of elections marred with rigging.
“In Covenant University, any student caught indulging in examination malpractice, is gone. It does not matter if his or her father is the head of United Nations or not.”
Oyedepo continued by praying against any form of bloodbath in any part of Nigeria as a result of the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections:
“Every spirit of thuggery in Nigeria shall be silenced and every forces that would not let Nigeria rest shall be laid to rest and silenced forever.”
Few hours ago, the video of South African singer, Babes Wodumo being assaulted by her boyfriend, DJ Mampintsha was shared online and has since gone viral.

In a recent interview, Regina Askia spoke on why she dumped Nollywood to become a practicing nurse in America.
“There comes a point in everybody’s life when you begin to wonder what meaning you have made of your life. We have all been put in this world to make a difference to humanity and leave this world a little better than we met it. The way we choose to do this leaves us fulfilled or unfulfilled. Caring for someone as a nurse gives me the experience and skills to make a practical difference, and I love that.
I am a people’s person, a social person, and a nurse is socially oriented. Acting is also a way to make a difference but it was not enough, especially the way it is set up in Nigeria. No royalties, no job security, no investment tools for health plans and retirement. With acting, there is the necessity to maintain a front; a sort of image which you could use for endorsements, and so on. A level of “fakeness” is required. Now, where does that stop? It gets difficult to be true to who you really are as a person and having to tow the line of being politically correct, or keeping up appearances, or saying what you think will make everybody happy just to be liked. I cannot live like that.
I have always been an army of one. Like me or hate me, I am who I am. I love the freedom to be true to self. That does not mean that I will completely stop acting. However, you will now know me as a nurse; a skilled health care provider.”
A patient in Britain has been cured of HIV after he received a bone marrow transplant from an HIV resistant donor, his doctors said. He becomes the 2nd person to be rid of the disease.
Almost three years after receiving bone marrow stem cells from a donor with a rare genetic mutation that resists HIV infection – and more than 18 months after coming off antiretroviral drugs – highly sensitive tests still show no trace of the man’s previous HIV infection.
“THERE IS NO VIRUS THERE THAT WE CAN MEASURE. WE CAN’T DETECT ANYTHING,” SAID RAVINDRA GUPTA, A PROFESSOR AND HIV BIOLOGIST WHO CO-LED A TEAM OF DOCTORS TREATING THE MAN.
According to Reuters, the case is a proof of the concept that scientists will one day be able to end AIDS, the doctors said, but does not mean a cure for HIV has been found.
Gupta described his patient as “functionally cured” and “in remission”, but cautioned: “It’s too early to say he’s cured.”
The man is being called “the London patient”, in part because his case is similar to the first known case of a functional cure of HIV – in an American man, Timothy Brown, who became known as the Berlin patient when he underwent similar treatment in Germany in 2007 which also cleared his HIV.
Brown, who had been living in Berlin, has since moved to the United States and, according to HIV experts, is still HIV-free.
Actress and model, Bolatito Sowunmi popularly known referred to as Miss Pepeye has in a recent interview revealed why she boycotted the popular comedy series, Papa Ajasco comedy series she starred in years back.
In the interview with PunchNG, Bolatito revealed that her role was no longer challenging and as the features of her character included wearing lots of costumes, she was not being recognized as true herself.

“I resigned from WAP because I felt that the role was no longer challenging. I had acted the role for a decade and the character, Pepeye, had to wear a lot of costumes and make-up that covered my features. A lot of people know and appreciate my work as Miss Pepeiye and I have a lot of fans but they don’t know how I look. So, I noticed that the character was limiting me and I wasn’t growing. As an actor, you have to evolve. I became so comfortable with being Miss Pepeiye that if you woke me up in the middle of the night, I would play the character without even looking at the script. I had to quit because the industry is highly competitive and people have to see how versatile you are. I didn’t have any quarrel with them; I resigned the proper way and asked for blessings from the chairman, which he gave me.”
And on Challenges she has faced, she said;
“There are really no challenges I cannot surmount because of the passion I have for the job. When you love what you do, you won’t even see the challenge. For me, it has always been about getting better and improving at what I do. Meeting veterans in the industry never intimidated me in any way because we are all unique in our various ways and nobody can act like you. They are just people I can celebrate and learn from.”
On the issue of promiscuity, with her character as Miss Pepeiye, she said,
“It is funny how people compare you with the character that you play on screen. Miss Pepeiye is troublesome and can do anything for money. Some people have the perception that the character they see you play on television and your real life personality are the same. However, I don’t even have a little trace of Miss Pepeiye’s character in me. She is an extrovert and I am a chronic introvert.”
And about other interests and her relationship status, she said,
“I am a model and an entrepreneur. I am also a skincare specialist and lifestyle consultant. I help people look younger than their age. It is private because it is my personal life. However, I like someone who is focused and intelligent. Also, I like a man who is mature because I am mature.”

The police in Lagos have arrested Chef Joshua Usulor, for allegedly killing a female lawyer, Feyitayo Obot, 34, inside a hotel at Opebi, Ikeja.
Usulor, 21, was said to have been arrested on February 28, 2019,at his hideout in Victoria Island, a month after he committed the alleged offence.
According to a statement released Monday evening by police spokesman Chike Oti, the suspect sneaked into the victim’s room, stabbed her and slit her throat.
Oti said police investigation showed Usulor had sneaked into the woman’s room in a bid to rob her but she caught and resisted him.
After ensuring that the woman was dead, Usulor, the police said, stole her N26,000 and mobile phone before fleeing the room.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime. He said he never knew the victim before and only wanted to rob her to offset his own hotel bills because he had spent two days above what he paid for.
To execute his plans undetected, he claimed he sneaked into the deceased’s room to steal her money and her phones but she struggled with him. He overpowered her and then stabbed her with a sharp knife on the stomach.
He used the same knife to slit her throat. Satisfied that the woman was dead, he made away with her phones and a cash sum of N26,000 only. Investigation revealed that the deceased was a lawyer who came to Lagos for a business meeting and lodged in a hotel at Opebi, Ikeja,” Oti said.
A 27-year-old Uber driver was fatally stabbed in the Bronx on Saturday night and he has now been identified as a Nigerian
Ganiyu Gandonu, 27, from Ogun State, was found shortly after 9 pm inside his Toyota Camry along the Hutchinson River Parkway East in Baychester, New York City, cops said. He was bleeding from his neck and torso. He later died at Jacobi Medical Center.
The police are looking for the attacker and investigating whether Mr. Gandonu’s death began as a robbery.
On Sunday evening, the police released video of a “person of interest” wanted in the killing. The man fled the scene on foot and was last seen walking northbound on Co-op City Boulevard wearing dark clothing, the police said.
The police did not say if the “person of interest” was a passenger. The driver was working at the time, but the police did not say whether he was completing a trip when he was stabbed.
Mr. Gandonu drove for Uber and had received his for-hire vehicle license in January 2017, according to the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission.
He left home around 7 p.m. on Saturday to work a shift picking up passengers, but he never came home, his wife said in an interview with News 12. He had a 2-year-old son.
The deceased’s wife, Latifat Alimi, 24, said: “My husband doesn’t deserve this. I don’t know how my life’s going to be without him.”
I know for sure that he got no problem with anybody. He start this job. He worked. After work, he’s home. He don’t go to parties, met friends, go to clubs, nothing, nothing nothing.”

They spoke on the phone shortly before 9 p.m. that night but the call was cut short when Ganiyu picked up a ride.
Latifat said: “He said, ‘I’ll call you back. I have a customer.’ “
Four Americans tourists and their Kenyan pilot were killed when their helicopter crashed on a remote island in Lake Turkana in a national park in northwest Kenya.
The aircraft came crashing in Central Island National Park at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, killing all on board. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
“Available information indicates that two helicopters had landed earlier at Labolo tented Camp on the National Park’s Island, however one managed to clear the area safely,” Kenya’s National Police Service said on Twitter.
Police did not identify the victims, saying next of kin had to be notified first.
Aminu Mai Unguwa Tsanni, a 45-year-old man from Tsanni village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina State, has been arrested for allegedly having sex with two men in a Katsina hotel.
Spokesperson for the State’s police command, SP Gambo Isa, who confirmed the incident, said that Aminu lured the duo of Abdullahi Abubakar, 20, of Yar-Kasuwa Qrts, Katsina and Rabi’u Yahuza, 23, of Sabin Layi Qrts, Katsina, to King Paradise Hotel and had unlawful carnal knowledge of them one after the other.
However, nemesis caught up with them when the principal suspect couldn’t pay the victims their agreed price of N10,000 each as bargained. The suspects in retaliation, took away his two handsets.
Aggrieved by their action, Aminu reported the matter at Sabon Gari Division as an ordinary case of theft of handsets.
However police investigation revealed that it was a case of unnatural offence as confessed by the trio.
Suspects have already been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations – DCI Detectives based at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya, yesterday arrested Princess Okoye, a Nigerian national, with 77 Pellets of suspected narcotics.

A plus-size lingerie model has revealed how she finally learned to embrace her curves, after being treated as a dirty little secret by men who would keep their relationship hidden because they were embarrassed to be seen with her.
Business owner, Britnee Rochelle, 31, from California, used to be severely bullied for her weight, and was taunted with cruel names like ‘big bird’ and ‘fatty’, while also receiving incredibly negative attention from boys.
When she began dating, Britnee, who weighs 260lbs, says guys would only ever meet up with her in secret, refusing to spend time with her in public, because they didn’t want to be seen with her.
This left her with awful insecurities about her body and her size, and left her feeling as though she would never find someone who loved her for who she was.
However, after years of feeling insecure and avoiding wearing clothes that revealed her body for fear of being judged, she stumbled into a modelling career in 2017 after participating in a few local fashion shows.
