Operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service in Niger State has impounded a trailer carrying tramadol and other substances suspected to be illicit drugs worth about forty-four million naira (N44,000,000).
The trailer carrying the items was intercepted by the service’ special strike force along minna-suleja-minna road.
They were concealed under sacks and other items.
Briefing journalists on the seizure and other seizures made, at the Nigerian customs service command headquarters in Minna, the national coordinator of the strike force, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Abdullahi Kirawa said but for the eagle eye of men and officers in his team, the items would have made their way into the society, pointing out what dangers they could pose to the society.
He said one person has been arrested in connection to the items and that investigation is still ongoing to unravel other culprits.
Mr Kirawa called on members of the public to cooperate with the Nigerian customs service and to be vigilant to report any smuggling activities around them.
The Customs Service strike force coordinator also took members of the press around the warehouse of the showcase other items seized by the team, which include seven hundred and thirty-three bags of foreign rice, eighteen bales of used clothing, vehicles and used tires illegally being smuggled into the country through various routes.
The growing use of the internet and the use of smartphones has played a great role in increased interest in Naija entertainment gist. Social media campaigns have also boosted the Nigerian entertainment. The musicians have seen an increase in digital sales of their music, online streaming, and increased downloads. Other trends include the increased demand for the Nigerian films from within and outside the country. Despite other challenges such as piracy and poor distribution channels, the Nigerian entertainment industry has remained a goldmine. Here are the various things which took place in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The Growth of the Industry
The media and entertainment industry witnessed a large growth of about 25percent. This amounted to about $4 billion. Increased internet access is attributed to be one of the factors for the growth of the industry with the $600 million out of the $770 million attributed to it. Nollywood is also the third largest player in the film industry and 90% of its growth is attributed to the increased internet access.
Growth of Music
Due to the increased consumption of music by the Nigerians on the mobile devices as compared to television, the music industry also reported a big boom. The musicians also made revenue from a number of performances within and outside Nigeria, ring back tones, music streaming and music licensing. Some of the Nigerian artists also had a series of collaborations with international artists which increased their exposure and hence increasing their revenue.
Regulation by Federal Government
After coming into power, the Muhammadu Buhari administration came up with a number of regulations in the creative industry to create a structure which would allow for the growth of a vibrant entertainment industry. Some of them include the dividends which were given to finance the industry however still there are no signs of the dividends in the industry.
In a meeting with the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association, the President said that he had instructed the Bank of Industry to provide capital to the entertainment industry as part of uplifting the efforts made by the industry.
The practitioners have embraced private investment and relied on the use of social media as a way of increasing their coverage.
Lose of Naija Top Talents
As it happens each year, Nigeria also lost a number of stars in the entertainment industry to the brutal hand of death in 2018. They include Chike Osuji, Nelson Oluchukwu, Ikenga Gblie among others. Popular singer Ras Kimono also passed away.
Piracy
Piracy has still remained one of the big issues in the entertainment industry even though the Nigerian Copyright Act of 2004 was put in place to protect intellectual property. Most of the stakeholders have attributed to the increased copyright infringement to the poor enactment of laws, corruption and the inability of the courts to prosecute the offenders. Piracy hit harder in 2018 and most of the stakeholders called for the need to collaborate to end the issue.
Despite the challenges which the Naija entertainment gist faces, the industry is growing at a faster rate. In 2019, there are a number of expectations on the growth of the industry. Besides, increased collaboration between the stakeholders and the government will lead to a decrease in the number of issues affecting the industry.

A man has narrated how his sister died after being allegedly poisoned for marrying against family wish.
The lady reportedly got married to the man, despite being hated so much by the husband’s family members.
It was revealed that all that was done to prevent the couple from getting married, didn’t work as they tied the knot few years later after she conceived for him.

Anambra people have this hatred for Imo women. Sometime I read a heartbreaking story concerning a marriage between an Anambra man and Imo girl, marriage only lasted for two months which the ended up throwing her properties out for her because the man’s family never liked the girl.now this.
You can only see peace in a marriage between an IMO state man and Anambra lady not the other way round. Please ladies give me your attention.
Any relationship that your boyfriend’s/fiancé parents doesn’t approve of and you’ve done your best to make them love you yet they refuse. Sweetheart, please in the name of God Almighty, run for your dear life. Your life is worth more than that. Take a very good look at these pictures here, that was my sister though she’s gone(Dead).
Well, some years back my big sis met this guy and they fell in love, they dated for over 7 solid years, but his parents were against their Union. The mother, father and his elder sister in particular hated her with passion. Despite the fact that she loves, respects and showers them with gifts.
His father’s reason (according to his son) was that, he can’t marry an Imo lady an educated one at that. His mother’s reason was that she wanted a very light skinned lady for her son. While his sister’s reason was that she was too pretty to make a good wife for her brother (stating that pretty ladies cheat).
We tried all we could to separate them including involving the police, but all to no avail, he vowed that he’d rather die than break up with her and so did my sister. Meanwhile, while they were still dating, sometimes his parents come to my sister’s abode and beat her up warning her to stay away from their son. And she kept it all away from us(Her family).
Along the line she took in and had a son for him. Yet his parents vowed and said over their dead bodies would they ever consent to their union. Five years later, his family finally came to us pleading and saying that they have agreed that their son should finally tie the nut with my sister. But I refused, likewise my mom and my siblings.
The traditional marriage was held on the 20th Feb 2012 in my hometown. She followed her in-laws home that same day(As tradition demands). About a week with them in their home in Oba Anambra state, they brought her home very sick.
A week later she passed on in Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto state(UDUTH). After the doctors discovered she had food poisoning which was meant to kill her slowly. She died right in my arms in the hospital, after vomiting so much blood.
About three years later, his parents got him another woman from their home town who unfortunately has now become a torn in their flesh. And also maltreats my little nephew so much that it always makes me cry. Not only that, She also engages her so called in-laws in physical combat, and recently her father in-law passed on mysteriously.
So my dear, there’s more to marriage than just you and your spouse. The both families have to appreciate, love and give their consent otherwise you might not find peace in that home, that’s if you don’t end up loosing your precious life along the line. Like my sis.
Nobody is worth dying for all in the name of love. Cus the moment you’re gone they’ll move on with their lives. Be wise my sister.
Now my sister & bestie is gone to return no more all in the name of Love.

A minister has landed in trouble after sharing pornographic video in a WhatsApp group.

She says there is no way a video can be shared if he wasn’t in possession of it.
She says since the law is not segregative , Mr. Sichalwe may be prosecuted even if he is a minister.

A man has sued Bugema University, Luweero District, Kampala, for banning all female students from wearing dresses above the knee, jewelry, lipstick, sleeveless and open tops, coloured nails, trouser, within the school premises.
In the suit before the High Court, the petitioner, Mr Ronald Bwire, claims that on December 12, 2018, the University issued a notice banning female students from wearing miniskirts, ear rings, necklaces, bangles, sleeveless and open tops, coloured nails, lipsticks, trousers and dresses that stop above the knee.
Bugema University announced the ban in a notice dated December 12, 2018.
“No student should come back with the above mentioned next semester. Culprits will face university disciplinary committee for serious action,” the notice warns.
Mr Bwire says the ban is a violation of female students’ right to equality, dignity, freedom of expression, conscience and culture.
“The impugned notice is threat not only to constitutionalism and rule of law but also to Uganda’s efforts to respect, promote and uphold rights and status of women,” the suit reads in part.
Mr Bwire contends that besides causing distress, physiological torture and inconvenience, the University’s directive has lowered the dignity and status of women generally.
Through his lawyers Mayende & Associated Advocates, Mr Bwire wants court to order the lifting of the ban and compensation with costs of the suit

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Nollywood actress and voting member of the Oscars, says she’s is not so happy that no African movie made it to the 2019 Oscars nomination list.
The Nollywood star, who was enlisted into the voting membership of the Oscar Awards in 2018, made the disclosure in an Instagram post where she conveyed her thoughts on the nominated movies.
While she expressed her happiness on the fact that a great deal of the movies she voted were picked, the actor was concerned that no African movie made it to the list.
“So glad most of the movies I nominated made it,” she said.
“Wasn’t so excited no African movie made it!”
Omotola was, however, enthusiastic and convinced that the situation would change for the better in the coming years.
“Someday soon we will be doing this for Africans,” she added.
Jalade-Ekeinde isn’t the only Nigerian who was invited to join the Oscar awards voters in 2018. Femi Odugbemi, a filmmaker, was also invited.
‘The Favourite’ and ‘Roma’ were the most nominated movies, receiving 10 each, while ‘Black Panther’ earned seven nominations.
The national chairman of the party, Gani Galadima, said Ezekwesili only wanted to use the ACPN platform to negotiate to be finance minister.
He said;
“The reason for calling this press conference is to let the world know about the presidential aspiration of Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, which in actual fact, is not the truth. I have been put into confidence by one of her aide named Iyinoluwa Aboyeji that she only wanted to use the platform of the ACPN to negotiate to be Nigeria’s finance minister,”
“This she does not deem fit to inform the party whose mandate she is holding. If you observe, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili is the only presidential candidate who was so militant in her campaign without any tangible thing on ground to indicate any seriousness in the prosecution of her campaign.
“No campaign secretariat, billboard or great commitment on ground to indicate any seriousness. It is on this ground that the ACPN is withdrawing support for her presidential aspiration and endorsing the second term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari to take Nigeria to the next level.”
He also asked her to return to the party all the donations “from all over the world” because the party would have to account to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“We may take her to court. She was just using us to play,” he said.
A man has divorced his wife and he explained to BBC Hausa that he did so because she insists on voting for Buhari in the coming presidential election.
Abdullahi Yada’u, a resident of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, told BBC Hausa Service on Thursday that he divorced his wife, Hafsat Suleiman, because she insisted on voting for Mr Buhari.
He tried convincing his wife not to vote for the incumbent president and when he didn’t succeed in convincing her, he divorced her.
Yada’u said he and his wife both supported president Buhari when he contested in the 2015 elections. But he feels disappointed with the administration and has decided not to vote for him again.
He narrated: “I told her that she must not vote for him but she insisted which led to a quarrel which attracted the attention of our neighbours, I slapped her and told her to choose between voting for Buhari and staying with me. She ran away.”
Later her parents called me and I narrated to them what transpired between us. But still my wife insisted on voting for Mr Buhari, that’s how I divorced her in the presence of her parents.
Ibrahim Suleiman, the divorced woman’s elder brother, said they felt disturbed over the incident between the couple. He added that the woman’s family would have dealt with the husband but their father stopped them.
He told BBC: “He really disgraced us. They have been having issues even in the previous election. She is the one that convinced him to vote for Buhari, now he insisted on voting for Mr Atiku Abubakar. We decided that we will not allow her to go back to him again.”
A shocking and disgusting video has emerged online showing the moment a pressed woman defecated in a home kitchen.
The 2-minute footage, obtained from CCTV cameras installed in a house, shows the woman, pick a plastic bag from scattered utensils in the sink which she later pooed in.
In the video, the woman believed to be the house-help, surveyed the kitchen for any installed camera before carrying out the act.
The maid later took the paper bag, which contained her faeces, and disposed it into a litter bin, which she had placed right next to her.
Some of the online users, who watched the video, condemned the woman’s unhygienic and disgusting act.
But others have argued that maybe the woman wasn’t allowed to make use of the toilet by the home owners after another video was shared of the maid easing herself in the same kitchen.
It is believed that the incident happened recently in Kenya.

A young pastor accused of sleeping with church members, has reportedly dumped them and opted for a different woman to spend the rest of his life with.
The Young Prophet based in Zimbabwe, popularly known as Mystic One of Christ Zone Believers Chapel Church is also accused of using church members to finance his bride price, H-Metro reports.
The members he has lost cited various reasons against the clergyman’s conduct.
The pastor is reported to have slept with two of his congregants and their affairs became the talk among the congregation forcing Prophet Moyo to dump them and proceeded to marry an outsider.
Prophet Moyo denied the allegations saying the church members left because of their own reasons.
“Our prophet fooled himself by thinking that his calling was going to be effective by marrying,” said the source. “He forced another woman who was leading her own ministry to join him and promised to marry her so as to be effective but this failed to bear fruits.
“Prophet Moyo widened his sexual eyes and proposed to another woman and it became the talk of church and smeared his preaching and this forced him to dump the two. “Church is not an organisation but an organism so Prophet Moyo took church for granted and started forcing leaders to collect money to help him pay bride price and this is what forced many to leave the church,” revealed the source.
One of the female victims he bedded confirmed dating the man of cloth saying Prophet Moyo dampened her spirit by his actions.
“I have since left the church and Prophet Moyo is now married to someone vanhu ngavachisiyana neni, It is true that I fell in love with Prophet Moyo and he forced me to leave my ministry and join his while promising marriage as well. “He was seduced by one of the congregants and fell in love with her and it became known to church members.
“I want God to accept me because Prophet Moyo along with his spiritual father based in Mozambique forced me to accept false prophecies they made in order to add membership. “Such false prophecies were done to many members and we were forced to accept.
Prophet Moyo denied the allegations saying some of his leaders abandoned him and started campaigning against him.
“They are not six leaders but they are many of them who have left citing different reasons. “I know there is a girl who had a problem in church and she has been telling people that I was dating her. “This girl loved me and I didn’t love her because I was dating someone at that time so she forced it to an extent that some leaders thought I was dating her.
“Some of the leaders thought I was dating this lady and we had some meetings where I told them the truth. “We asked her about the issue. I asked her to tell the truth if we dated and she said no and I think that’s where the divisions emanated from, because there are people who believed.
“I would want to know the person, as far as I know I got married on December 22, last year and I know these are the things meant to disturb my ministry and my current affair. “We are wedding in April, so when I announced it in church a lot of people were not happy and I know there are a lot of things which happened.”
A father of a 7-year-old girl who falsely claimed that she was raped by a neighbour has been arrested and charged with murder after he took part in killing the innocent man in South Africa.
According to Sowetan Live, 52-year-old Mava Fundakubi was severely assaulted by a mob at the weekend in Motherwell‚ Port Elizabeth‚ after he was accused raping the underage girl.
The man was reportedly dragged into the street and beaten to death by a large group of people, while the 7-year-old girl and her mother were at the Motherwell Health Centre for examination.
In a statement by Police spokesperson Capt Andre Beetge, he said after the examination it was revealed that the child had not been raped‚ molested or sexually assaulted.
“The 36-year-old father of the seven-year-old girl handed himself over to police yesterday [Tuesday] claiming that he approached Mr. Fundakubi at his house and that he assaulted Mr. Fundakubi in the street while being joined by other persons‚” Beetge said on Wednesday.
“He was arrested and charged for the murder while police are continuing to identify and search for the accomplices.”
He also added that a manhunt was launched to identify people who took part in the assault.
Motherwell police cluster commander‚ Maj-Gen Dawie Rabie‚ said vigilantism would not be tolerated. “An innocent man was killed by the community – based on a rumour which they did not even try to verify.
“We are urging our communities to give information about suspected crimes to the police and not to take the law into their own hands. I am urging our community to identify these killers in order for the law to be enforced so these murderers to be brought before court.”
Legendary musician, 2face Idibia in a recent interview with E-Daily highlighted some of the challenges facing the Nigerian music industry.
According to the veteran, “the crap music all over the place now is because the gate keepers play good songs when people are asleep at night; when there is no one to listen to the music. So if you do that kind of music and you take it to the radio and they refuse to play it, what do you do? And most of the financial back up artistes get is from people who want to make their money back immediately’.
2face Idibia went on to say, ‘people are afraid of investing their money on artistes who sing good music..Though the music will still be entertaining but the ear of the people has changed. You and I know that on a normal day it is good music we listen to, except when we go to parties. The youths have their mind tuned to the kind of music being made now; it’s difficult to remove it. It has to be a deliberate action to do so’, he said.
Speaking further, he took a swipe at the National Broadcasting Commission, lamenting how the regulatory body’s value systems have changed drastically.
“Before NBC is able to ban any music, it has gone popular already. That means they didn’t even hear it on time in the first place. It’s after the song has gone viral that they will want to ban it. No one is doing any work.
It is very important that we have a responsible government and to have that we must have responsible people because if we don’t have responsible people, this is the kind of government we will keep having”, he said.

In the early hours of today, Thursday, January 23rd, 2019, female presidential aspirant, Oby Ezekwesili announced her withdrawal from 2019 presidential race saying she has opted to help build a coalition to defeat the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party in the February 16, 2019 election.
As expected, her decision is generating mixed reactions among Nigerians and while many applaud her decision others feel she has just dashed the hopes of Nigeria having a female president at this time.
See some reactions below;
Oby Ezekwesili bows out of Presidential Race, Madam Oby has just destroyed the hopes of Nigeria having a female president ???
Do referee to anoint "3rd Force" candidate, abandon the anointed. Enter the race less than 6 months to the election. Exit the race less than 1 month to the election.
So Madam Oby is graduating from one self deceit and pipe dream to another, what is forming a coalition that’ll defeat the APC and PDP in next month’s election?
I personally think the ability to analyze situations and make the right decisions is a very key part of leadership
As a Nigerian who believes that more participation of women in politics will help to strengthen our democracy, the news of Madam Oby withdrawing from the Presidential race is not something to rejoice over.
Let me get this; first she was part of a "veritable coalition" to counter #APCPDP through PACT, then a "primary" she oversaw ended in chaos, then she rose to save the day by declaring she wanted to run & now she's stepping down to "focus on helping to build a veritable coalition" pic.twitter.com/uOxeO2D2G8
Breaking news: Madam Oby Ezekwesili withdraws from the presidential race to focus forming a coalition for a viable alternative ???
Everything no be by twitter followers. Good she has tested her strength & popularity on the street to know that she’s overrating herself. pic.twitter.com/g2GA5RXU61
LOL you know when you are laughing but deep down you are actually angry because you know someone was just being wicked, unrealistic and divisive. https://t.co/WdJ38sMnM1
You see that confused madam Oby has pulled out of the Presidential race. This should not be a surprise, but a slap on those that actually believed in her at first.
Good decision for Madam Oby to step down. Now after the elections ma, sit Moghalu, Fela and any other third force candidate and start planning for 2023 immediately. We need to kick this weird APC devils out of existence. PDP will need a serious opposition to sit up.
Wonder the rhetoric Aisha Yesufu is going to spin now that Madam Oby has dropped out of the race. Whom will she tell the man her husband loaned money to support now.
So sad to see Madam Oby withdraw from the race but I think it's a smart move, she has no chance at all but this coalition she speaks of should have been done a long time ago.
