The Byculla police on Sunday, arrested seven more Nigerian drug peddlers who had created a menace in south Mumbai, making it a total of 14 arrested since last week.

Several teams of zone III, had on December 15, arrested seven Nigerians who had fired on cops, injuring four. The police recovered drugs worth Rs 21 lakh, a country made revolver, 550 grams of MD, 110 grams of brown sugar and Rs 41,000 in cash.

Police said they received information that the remaining members of the gang were likely to meet near Byculla railway tracks. A trap was laid and seven more Nigerians were arrested. Police recovered 10 cartridges, seven passports whose visas had expired, 55 grams of cocaine, cash of 200 US Dollars, Rs 3.80 lakhs, a button knife, a digital weighing machines and two mobile phones.

What baffled the police is the fact that the visas were issued to them in Bangladesh.

After their tourist visas expired, the accused were illegally staying in rented rooms in Nallasopara, Vasai Virar and Navi Mumbai.

Police said that the modus operandi of the gang was to move in group of 10 or more and when any police party raids or chase them, they would fire towards police and scare them.

Buhari has again responded to those who have tagged him as “Baba-Go-SLow”.

Apparently, since he came into office in 2015, Nigerians have called out President Buhari for being slow at taking decisions and actions that would move the country forward.

While speaking with the Federal Capital Territory community who paid him a visit on Christmas day December 25th, President Buhari attributed his perceived slow performance to the system of government.

He said unlike when he was in the military, he has to go by the system as a democratically elected President.

“I told you what I did when I was in uniform but now when I have to go by this system (Democracy,) where people have to be arrested and then prosecuted, taken to court and then with evidence, we will collect back what they had taken illegally and for doing that, people are calling me Baba go slow.

“I am going slowly but whatever the case, I will not stop pointing fingers at those who have abused trust by taking money that does not belong to them. I will keep on trying to do my best for this country and get back what belongs to the country.

“We are going to do the roads, revive the railway and electricity with the little resources at our disposal. Fighting Corruption, yes, we are slow because the system is slow. It’s not Baba that is slow but it is the system. So, I am going by this system and I hope we will make it,” he said.

A final year Urban and Regional planning student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, was, on Christmas Day, killed by a hit-and-run driver in Lagos state.

According to reports, the student identified as, Boluwatife Oyeleye had gone out for a Christmas outing and was returning home around 6:30pm, when she was hit by a vehicle, while trying to cross the Lekki-Epe expressway at the Ajah-Ilaje axis.

The driver, however, fled immediately he hit her.

A bike rider later assisted Boluwatife to the roadside and called on passersby to help rush her to the hospital, but no help came until she gave up the ghost.
