The management of the University of Ibadan International School has reportedly shut down the school, following a hijab controversy.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the school suspended its morning assembly on Monday, November 12, 2018, following the appearance of some pupils in hijab. The school also locked all the classes after suspending the assembly.

It was also reported that a group, the International School Muslim Parents’ Forum (ISMPF), in a letter signed by Abdurrahman Balogun (chairman) and Bilikis Badiru (secretary) had earlier petitioned the school management insisting that female students were entitled to the use of hijab.
‘Notice of of the resolution on the rights of our female children to commence the use of Hijab from this academic session of 2018/2019’, was addressed to the Principal, Mrs Phebean Olowe, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof, Abideen Aderinto.
“Hijab wearing for young Muslim girls, apart from the fact that it is part of their religious belief, is part of their God-given fundamental human rights as well as the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” ISMPF said in the letter.
However, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic), University of Ibadan, Professor Abideen Yinka Aderinto has reportedly reacted to the crisis saying “the jungle approach being used by the parents will not be tolerated”.
The DVC according to Daily Post said that he was shocked and disappointed that the parents could be frustrating efforts of the management at restoring the glory of the school.

“I am the Chairman of the court of Governors and I am a proud Muslim. ISI is a private school. UI does not fund it. It is funded by the fees collected. It is unfortunate that this is coming up now. Even the Parents Teacher Association is not aware of the idea by this group.
“Indeed, some other Muslim parents expressed shock when they heard about this forum. Since its establishment in 1963, the school has not experienced any religious crisis and we would want to guard against it. The Muslim and Christian students have a place to worship in the school.
“Whoever is desired to change the rules should go through the process. The teachers do not feel safe and so could not have taught anybody because it is a strange development”.

While speaking in an interview with PUNCH, Nollywood actor and comedian, Teju Oyelakin, popularly known as Teju Babyface, opens up on finally having babies after years of marriage, and also shared his fatherhood experience.
Here are excerpts from the chat;
Congrats on the birth of your twins. Tell us about the journey before they arrived.
It wasn’t the easiest thing as no one ever really expects to get married and not have children when they want them. During our waiting period, it occurred to me that before I got married, I had never thought that having kids could be a challenge. Then I started to think of what I might have done differently if I had actually imagined it back then.
When I got into it, my foremost thought was that God would get me out of it. There were days when we just went with the flow of things and believed in God’s time and other days were low days. I felt like I was getting older and wanted the situation to be over. Really, people get married because they love themselves, not just to have children. However, these thoughts only come when one is feeling strong. When the days are low, other sentiments begin to creep in.
Did you, at any point, feel like giving up?
After just five years? Of course not! There are people who have been married for more years than us and have been waiting all the while. I actually consider us lucky to have had our kids after six years. People didn’t even realise that it had been that long when I posted it on social media. Definitely, it’s tough but people have been and are still waiting for 15 years and more. You must be hopeful with every passing day.
What was your reaction when you found out that you were having a baby?
I cried and she cried. Honestly, it was a crying party. There’s a saying that every new level brings a new devil. When you get what you have always wanted and are just about to really enjoy it, there’s another devil in the detail. Before I could bask in my ecstasy when I found out, I started to think ahead and pray for the pregnancy to hold full-term. For almost nine months, there were thoughts and prayers in advance. It’s at that point that you start to pay attention to those stories of people who didn’t carry to full-term or those who lost their baby at infancy and so on.
How do you balance work and the twins?
It depends on how you see it. A wise man once told me that there are three indices on which a man will be judged – your relationship with God, that with your family and with your work – in that order. Work always comes after family and that’s how it is. If there’s ever a clash between work and family, family should come first.
Was there ever an issue with family and pressure?
My family is exposed and learned. There was no pressure from them because they are very loving.
Do you have plans to have more kids?
That’s up to God. I personally want one more but my wife does not even want to hear about that. When I bring it up, she looks at me like I am unwell. However, I’m grateful for what I have.
What has fatherhood changed about you?
I can’t believe I am as fortunate to receive a boy and a girl at once after the wait. That’s a fairytale. And they arrived before I turned 40. I was always afraid to turn 40 without having kids. I am a progressive thinking person who thinks outside the box and shuns age-old traditions that say one must do certain things by a certain age. However, I believe strongly that life does begin at 40 and for that, nothing else mattered to me personally than having a kid before 40. Fatherhood made me very grateful.

A 24-year-old man identified as Osamudiamen Amayo has been remanded in prison by an Egor Magistrate court sitting in Benin, Edo state, on the 12th of November, 2018 for allegedly having canal knowledge with a boy of 9 years.
The incident happened around Medical Stores road, Benin City.
It was gathered that luck ran out of the suspect when the mother of the victim started noticing strange behaviour of her son and the incremental lose of weight.
Upon further probe, the victim told his mother how Osamudiamen had incessantly had canal knowledge with him with threats to kill him and the mother if he discloses what happens between them to anybody.
The matter was reported to Edo Civil Society Organisations, who took it up and the suspect was arrested by the police and later charged to court.
The suspect was reminded in prison without bail conditions and case adjourned to 6th of December, 2018.

A female student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU got a severe beating after being accused of sleeping with another student’s boyfriend.

A prostitute has narrated her horrifying experience which happened during an encounter with a client. The male customer died on top of her during sexual intercourse.
People said the hotel in Roodepoort, South Africa where the incident happened was well known as a sex stadium and that the man was the third one to die there while having sex.
“We don’t know what these magoshas (prostitutes) are doing to them. Maybe it’s excitement that kills them,” a hawker who trades nearby told Daily Sun.
The sex worker involved, who later spoke to the SunTeam about the ordeal, said the man was on top of her when he started struggling to breath.
“I called out his name and started to speak to him but he stopped responding,” she said.
Seeing that the man was not moving, she shifted him to the side of the bed.
Terrified by what had just happened, she called the manager of the hotel to see the man lying motionless on the bed, and paramedics and the cops were called.
“I was shocked. This is the first time I’ve came across something like this. “It is scary for a person to die on top of you, more so if you don’t know him,” she said.
Another sex worker said: “You need to be cleansed because it’s bad luck for this to happen.”
The man, who is believed to be from Tshepisong near Kagiso, was certified dead at the scene.
Sex workers milled around at the front gate of the hotel where they waited for their customers.
The manager of the hotel confirmed the incident.

Officials of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have apprehended a suspected female suicide bomber in Borno state.

The wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant Hajiya Titi Abubakar has said that her husband is not a thief and would never steal if elected. Mrs Abubakar made the remark when Atiku Women Prayer Group visited in her residence in Abuja.
She said Atiku is rich and contented and was never in the race to steal money.
“He only joined the presidential race to give back to the society that had given him so much.
Hajiya Titi said ;

The Police in Abuja, has arrested some “one chance” robbery suspects who specialised in robbing their victims of valuables and using dangerous weapons to inflict injuries on their victims.
Onyebuchi Ifeanyikwu, 40, Anthony Sunday, 35, were arrested on the 10th of November, 2018, at their hideouts in Tungan Maje.
The suspects had robbed and inflicted serious injuries on a lady who boarded their car as a passenger en-route Nyanya from Arab road Kubwa on 9th November, 2018 at about 5:30a.m.
Few minutes into the journey, the suspects diverted their victim to Zuba axis where she was robbed of her cash, phone, two ATM cards and other valuables before she was abandoned.
The following were recovered from the suspects as exhibits: knives, nails, some female underwear, one phone, some jewelries, one bag containing women clothes (belonging to one of their victims) and a Honda Accord car.
Legendary comic book writer and editor Stan Lee has passed away at the age of 95, at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Family attorney has confirmed that the architect of the contemporary comic book has died. Born Stanley Martin Lieber in 1922, he was best known as the writer, editor and publisher of Marvel Comics, and the creator of Spider-Man, X-Men, and Black Panther, among many others.
Lee worked with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to create comic book superheroes with relatable human foibles, such as the Hulk, Doctor Strange, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four. In collaboration with writer Larry Lieber, he created the characters of Iron Man and Thor.
“I was bored with stories of perfect heroes who had no faults,” Lee once told the Sydney Morning Herald. “They didn’t seem interesting to me. It seemed to me if I could take someone like Spider-Man – he’s worried about money, he’s not that successful with girls, he’s worried about his aunt and her health. It’s the kind of hero that any reader can identify with, because he has the same problems they have. I know I would rather read that sort of story.”
In 1971, Lee ran an anti-drug storyline in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ in which Peter Parker’s friend Harry Osborn became addicted to painkillers. The popularity of the issue eventually led the CCA to relax its guidelines.
