Big Brother Naija star, Doyin David has outlined her reasons for not being able to marry and become a full-time housewife.

She revealed this while speaking in a video message she uploaded to her Instagram story.

Doyin clarified that she cannot stay at home full-time, since her spouse could decide to leave her and their children behind.

She continued by saying that financially independent women are treated with greater respect by men.

“I will never be a full-time housewife. Number one, people change. What if he [my future husband] changes? What if he meets another girl and then he stops catering for me and my kids?

Number two, there’s this level of respect that comes with having your own money like when your partner knows you can provide. You don’t need to ask them for everything. You can handle certain things in the house. And I would really like to have that respect in my marriage.

Popular Nigerian rapper and songwriter, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun a.k.a Vector, has taken to social media to demand an appropriate investigation on the explosion that happened in Ibadan, Oyo state on 16th January 2024.

Recall a massive explosion that occurred in the night at Ibadan and reportedly affected more than twenty houses with several casualties. The explosion resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties.

According to the report, the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde explained the explosion was caused by the activities of illegal miners, he confirmed the death of two persons with 77 others injured.

The governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, has revealed the cause of the explosion that occurred in Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday evening, January 17.

In an interview with journalists at the site of the explosion, the Governor disclosed that the incident is connected to the activities of illegal miners operating in the state.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the illegal miners stored explosive devices in one of the houses in the area, leading to the massive explosion.

Governor Seyi also released an official statement after his visit to the site and hospitals where those injured are receiving treatment.

In the statement, he confirmed the death of two people and mentioned that 77 people were injured and are being treated in public and private hospitals in the state.

His statement reads;

“We visited the scene of the explosion which occurred at about 7.44 pm yesterday, 16 January 2024 in Bodija, Ibadan. This unfortunate incident resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties. We have already deployed first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State to carry out comprehensive search and rescue operations. These operations will continue throughout the night.

Earth moving equipment, ambulances, emergency lights, and security were deployed to the scene of the incident. The wounded and injured are being treated and moved to public and private hospitals within Ibadan. Medical personnel are on standby at these hospitals to provide all needed assistance to the injured. We have visited UCH to see some of those injured during the incident.

In total, we have 77 injured victims so far, most of whom were treated and discharged and 2 fatalities. May their souls rest in peace and may God give their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

I have directed that the medical bills of all victims be covered by the government. We will also be providing temporary accommodation for those whose houses were affected and ensuring that they are supported to rebuild their lives.

Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book.

I urge all residents to please call 615 for any emergencies they may be experiencing at this time and to remain calm and stay away from the immediate scene of the incident to allow rescue operations to be carried out without interference.

We are grateful to the first responders, security personnel and all those who are at the scene to assist with the rescue operations as well as the medical personnel taking care of the injured.

Please say a prayer for those who have been affected by this disaster as we continue with the rescue operations.”

Popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade, has disclosed that an unidentified source had leaked her breakthrough song, “Johnny.”

She said that if someone hadn’t leaked the song in 2014, she would not have released it formally and that it most likely would not have been dropped.

Yemi Alade talked candidly about writing Johnny while on tour in Nigeria and how she never imagined the song would turn her into a worldwide sensation.

In an interview with Taymesan for the Tea With Taymesan podcast, the singer related the tale and mentioned that the song’s leak happened the day she recorded it with Selebobo.

In response to a question, Yemi said;

“Yes, I felt it. I never thought it was a song that leaked; I didn’t release it officially. If you find the picture, it’s a picture of me with some blonde weave.”

The interviewer asked further;

“What do you mean it leaked?”

She added;

“It leaked online; it was never officially released. Yes, it probably would never have been released. God finds a way to move people and things around.”

Popular Nollywood actress and producer, Toyin Abraham, has disclosed that she had a panic attack upon discovering that her most recent hit film, Maliaka, had been pirated.

The producer said she was hospitalized many times as a result of her panic attacks, speaking with reporters in Lagos as police detained five people related to the piracy.

Toyin Abraham said that the movie gulped N500 million in production and that she has joined the battle against pirates as a result of her experience. She praised the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force for arresting the perpetrators, praising in particular AIG IG Idowu Owohunwa for acting on their words.

Two ladies have been detained in connection with the piracy of Malaika, according to a statement made earlier by the Federal Criminal Investigation Department, or FCID, in Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.

A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FCID), ASP Aminat Mayegun, accused the suspected pirates of conspiracy, intellectual property infringement, piracy, and cybercrimes linked to the unauthorized use of cyberspace for the movie’s broadcast while presenting them to reporters at the FCID headquarters in Alagbon.

“Following the receipt of the petition, a joint investigation involving the Special Investigation Units of the Anti-Fraud and Cybercrime Sections of the Department was launched, while the unique intelligence and cybercrime assets of the Force were optimally deployed,”

she added.

A shocking video has emerged capturing the moment when a passenger physically assaulted a pilot after learning about a 13-hour flight delay.

The incident took place on an IndiGo flight traveling from Delhi to Goa, India, on Sunday, January 14.

The delay was caused by poor visibility due to the weather conditions in the region.

As the pilot Anup Kumar announced the situation, a passenger identified as Sahil Kataria became enraged.

In the Video, the furious passenger, wearing a yellow hoodie, charges up the aisle and slaps the pilot, causing onlookers to react with shock.

He demands that the pilot either fly the plane or open the door.

A flight attendant intervenes, and another passenger in a sky-blue hoodie grabs Kataria and escorts him back to his seat.

In a separate clip, he is seen being escorted off the aircraft by armed guards.

He later apologizes to Kumar on camera.

Both the pilot and the airline have filed police reports against him, leading to his arrest by the Delhi police.

Nigerian social media influencer, Ajebo Danny shared how hawkers increased the price of their items by higher percentage after spotting him in his car.

Sharing on the microblogging platform, X, the influencer stated while he was driving through the traffic he felt hungry and decided to buy sausage roll but he was shocked at the price the hawker mentioned. He also shared the amount he purchased a bunch of plantain, thinking it was not the season and he is not a fan of negotiating prices.

The influencer was shocked at the price he was charged for 50,000 naira at the POS stand; he later realized they were all charging him at high price because of his expensive car.

He wrote;

I was driving through traffic and saw Gala and my tummy suddenly remembered i had not eaten all day. The guy came, i asked how much, “N500 sir”, i was like Gala sef don reach N500? he said “this na the big one.” I said okay it’s probably inflation. At the second light, i saw ripe plantain, as a huge fan of plantain i couldn’t look away, How much is plantain, he said N5,000 for the bunch, i wasn’t sure it was expensive or not, it’s probably not its season, i just bought (I personally don’t like pricing hawkers) Then i got to the POS stand, i wanted N50,000, how much charges, he said “N5,000”. I was like chill, so N1k for N10,000? He replied, how much you go pay? That was when it dawned on me, everyone is inflating their prices because of my CAR! I just went home and sent my assistant, POS charged him N300 for N10k I guess i have to adjust to no longer buying stuff in traffic.
