Chidiebere Onwumere has regained his freedom 24 months after he was wrongly imprisoned for allegedly causing the death of one Uzochi Chinyere, his neighbor who he rushed to the hospital, following a drug overdose in Abia State.
In a recent interview with AFN, on Tuesday, while recounting the whole ordeal, he said in quote,
“I got home that day, around 6pm, only to see my neighbour lying helpless and I decided to assist her to the hospital with the help of other neighbors.
A pastor who resides within the neighborhood, took us with his car to a nearby hospital called Shiloh hospital, where the doctor asked us to deposit N5000 to conduct a test that would determine exactly what was wrong with her.
I and some other neighbours contributed the money. When the result came out, the doctor told us that she was on substance overdose and was knocked out by the illegal substance. He assured us that she would be well again.
However, the next morning, Mr Promise, the deceased’s elder brother, arrived the hospital and insisted on taking her away to another hospital against the doctor’s advice.
After a few days, he came back to our compound and took me to World Bank police station, Aba, where he handed me over to the police, claiming that I beat his sister to death.
Despite pleas that my hands were clean and that there was a doctor’s report stating that their sister died of substance abuse, Promise insisted and filed a murder charge against me.
I was arraigned on suit no. U/520c/2016 and remanded in prison custody since June 2016. It was one Barrister Jerry Uzosike that God used to vindicate and bring me out of prison.”

A Reverend father who has been accused of raping an 11 year old girl, has blamed the devil for his distasteful action as he also revealed that he thought his victim was older.
The Italian priest accused of raping the 11-year-old girl in a car said that he thought she was a 15 year old – Father Paolo Glaentzer, a septuagenarian, was arrested in July for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in a car.
The court did not jail the priest, but he is currently being held on house arrest in Italy as an investigation continues.
Father Glaentzer told an Italian newspaper that he is very sorry for his actions and added that the devil tripped him into abusing the girl.
Glaentzer said that the encounter was “an exchange of affection” that got out of control, and added that the victim looked “much more mature than she was”, he said in quote,
“I found out she was 11 years old…I thought she was at least 15,”
According to the interviewer, the priest seemed totally less bothered by the ongoing criminal case and stated that he has “entrusted myself to Jesus and Mary.”
Italy’s age of consent is 16, so, even if the girl the girl was 15 as the priest claims he thought, he would still have been committing a crime.

The Star reports that Ontario Superior Court Justice Fred Myers dismissed a request by Martin Kofi Danso to extend a publication ban and sealing order on a court file related to allegations he fathered a child Bartley.

Popular Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa has like she did a while back, shared a semi-nude photo on her Instagram page in a bid promote her latest products.
Her action of course, has caused a stir amongst her fans, with many of them coming at her with full force – the media personality and author had tongues wagging just last week when she debuted her semi-nude photos on her social media pages.
Quite unbothered about what these fans have to say, the OAP, earlier today shared another post – which featured her semi-nude too – to appreciate the people that have been making purchases of her products since its launch and also requested for their reviews of the ones they have bought so far.
She captioned the photo,

Well, according to the teenage actress, 16 seems to be an everlasting age for her as for ‘years’ now, she’s been that particular age.
She didn’t say it was a throwback, all she said was that those who call her ugly should bring out their photos of when they were 16 and see if they were finer that her.
Sharing this photo, she wrote,
Oh yes ! Am pretty and i know it….. if u are older than me and u call me ugly, bring out your picture when you were 16 ?
????
However, most of her fans were astonished as to see that she still claims to be 16 – her official Wiki age says she’s 17 born in October 2000.
Super Eagles Player, Victor Moses has announced his retirement from International Football.
According to him, he is retiring after so much deliberations and would love to thank the country for the opportunity given to him to wear the Super Eagles shirt.
I would like to announce that after much thought I have made the decision to retire from playing international football.
I have experienced some of the best moments of my life wearing the Super Eagles shirt and have memories with me that will last a lifetime. Nothing will ever compete to what it felt like to represent Nigeria on behalf of our country.
However I feel that now is the right time to step away in order to be able to focus fully on club career and my young family as well as to allow the next generation of Super Eagles stars the opportunity to step up and to flourish. We are blessed as a nation to have so many exciting young players coming through and now is their time.
There are so many highlights that stand out for me over the years; from making my debut, to playing in two World Cups and being a part of the team to win the African Nations Cup for first time for our nation since 1994 being just a few of them.
I have already spoken to the manager by telephone and would like to say thank you to him and his staff, the NFF and all of my teammates for all of their support over the years. Most importantly I would like to say thank you to the Nigerian people for believing in me and supporting me over the years. It’s meant the world to me and my family and I will always be a proud Nigerian supporting the team.
Thank you for the memories and good luck to the team for the future.
Bukola Saraki, the Senate President, has confirmed rumours that he will be running for Presidency in 2019.
He defected from APC to PDP a few weeks ago and has now confirmed this news in an interview with Bloomberg.
“I am consulting and actively considering it. I believe I can make the change.” he said during the interview conducted in his apartment in Abuja.
Saraki said that if he decides to run, it would be under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party, the main opposition group whose presidential primaries is slated for October.
Making reference to last Tuesday Augut 7th’s invasion by the DSS, Saraki said that singular action showed that Nigeria’s democracy is in danger and needed to be salvaged.
“If a government can go and lock up an arm of government — and it’s never happened in our history — we should all be very concerned.
“We should not be surprised that they would use security agencies for elections,” Saraki said.
Saraki added that Nigeria needs to be governed by a genuinely pro-business administration that will be able to tackle recurrent security issues.
Speaking on his new party PDP, Saraki said:
”The PDP has learnt its lesson from the loss in 2015, and I think unfortunately the APC did not learn from their victory.
“While negotiating with the PDP, we listed a number of issues. We talked about how to sustain and improve the fight against corruption; the issue of providing more powers to the states; inclusion and having a more nationalistic approach on things we do; to continue to improve the environment that will ensure investments.
“We listed a number of items during the discussions with the PDP, and there is a written agreement to that. We trust that we can hold them to that. We would ensure that the party is strong on security.
“The APC too have not done well on the issue of security. We have the opportunity with the right kind of presidential candidate and president to provide the leadership for the party.
“The party has a good opportunity to lead the country in the right direction.”
Yesterday, news of Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo’s order to overhaul the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) made Nigerians very excited.
The order came months after a outcry by Nigerians against SARS brutality, with many hoping with this order, there would finally be peace.
However, this doesn’t seem the case as a new video has emerged online showing two SARS operatives continuing with their ‘extortion and harassment’.
In this new video, the officers are seen speaking with people on a bus after apparently stopping the vehicle. It is believed that the operatives are, as usual, holding passengers to ransom before requesting for cash.
At one point, one of the officers is seen stepping inside the bus. The other one stands guard looking on.
Tori.ng cannot verify exactly when the video was taken but local reports claim that the incident happened earlier today in Surulere, Lagos.

A report by Punch states that the body has this notion contained in its budget for the polls presented to the House of Representatives.
Amused by the incredulous amount, the lawmakers questioned the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, about the amount requested, asking that it should be defended.

A Nigerian soldier has revealed how his wife’s advice is helping him survive in this “Buhari economy”.
The soldier, who was away from Nigeria for two years on official assignment, returned to the country from Somalia and was planning his next move when his wife pitched in and advised him that his plan wasn’t the best. He listened to her and is now grateful for it, not to mention richer.
Read his lengthy story below ;
Let me tell you guys a short story on how I’ve been surviving in this Buhari economy.
When I returned to Nigeria after my two years tour with AU/UN in Somalia, I thought of buying another car for myself because my ma’am had taken over my Rav4 and joining commercial bus is really tasking for me.
This is not a thing of pride, if you’re use to driving yourself around, if you try to join a commercial bus anytime your car is not available just for a day, you’d feel frustrated due to the task and process it will take you to join a commercial bus plus your comfort may not be guaranteed.
And I also find it difficult dragging car keys with my wife ‘coz for a fact, she need the car more than I do at the moment.
My ma’am use the car to drop our kids at school and also use it for her personal business running around.
So the only logical thing for me is to buy another car to ease my movement since I find it difficult to join public transport daily.
So I began to think, which car should I buy…..
I went to Berger and began to check for various types of cars.
I checked for…
Toyota Camry 2009 model.
Luxus 350 SUV.
Toyota Corolla Sport 2007 model
Toyota highlander and various other flashy cars/SUV….you won’t blame me because I just returned from international assignment and there’s enough foreign currency in my domiciliary account even after I’ve spent heavily on my late dad burial, I still can afford ANY car of my choice if that’s my problem….
Daily, I’d either visit Berger, Jiji online store which was introduced to me by Iyoyojie Adesua and other car shops around me searching for a very clean and a pocket friendly car/SUV that will fit my present personality.
Remember, I just returned from international assignment and my colleagues in the office must know I’m a new returnee and the only way they’ll know is when I announce myself with the most expensive and flashy car in the office. That’s the norm anyways.
Most of my colleagues who travel for international assignments do this, so why shouldn’t I?
The only way people will know you’ve arive in Nigeria from international assignment/abroad is when you announce yourself with a flashy car/SUV. Without that, who you be?
Some of my colleagues will be like “My friend, me and you no be mate, I just came back from foreign mission. Look at my machine. Can you afford it? So, give me some respect….”
But after six months, you’d ask yourself, “is it true that this man just came back from foreign mission?”
The only thing SOME of colleagues will have going is the flashy car they bought which most times, they can’t even maintain. Key word, some of them not all of them.
So one morning, I decided to travel to Benin republic to buy my dream car myself, so I spoke to my wife before going and she said…”this money you want to spend to buy this car is it not much? Why not buy a small car and invest the rest into a business that will fetch you daily income? Things are not easy in Nigeria ooo, you’ve been away for so long so I understand this present economy better than you. My advise is that you should invest part of this money into something that will bring more money to support your salary. You know you’re the first child, your don’t have father, mother and your younger ones are all looking up to you plus you have a family to cater for…..”she advise
Her words made perfect sense to me and my search for a car ended that very moment.
“Which business will I now invest this huge amount of money into that will bring profits daily without complain? I asked myself
But, I still need to buy a car or anything to ease my movement.
The confusion.
So, I then thought, why don’t you buy a bus…
A bus can take you to work and you can still use it to hustle during your spare time. At least, I’m a forceman and no one will harass me since I’ll drive it myself.
Good ideal. I thought.
I began to search for prices of good buses.
Toyota Hiace.
Mitsubishi
Ford
Volkswagen
Hyundai H1
Nissan Urvan etc
I searched, searched, searched and I finally bought a direct tokunbo accident free bus that has never been used in Nigeria and rarely used by the foreign owner which was recently shipped into the country by a business man.
I got the bus cheaply (I saved extra N500,000) because I bought it online via jiji store. The businessman use the bus to ship in some of his goods and was in need of money so the need for him to sell the bus urgently so as to use the money for other stuff arised and coincidentally, I happened to spot the advert minutes after he posted it online.
After I bought the bus, I use it not only to ease my movement. But I’ve been using it as my side hustle and also to help my wife carry most of her goods whenever the need arises.
You see, if I’d bought a car, by now, maybe I’d be bankrupted, smiling outwardly while driving my flashy car but crying inwardly ‘coz there’ll be a big hole in my pocket which only my salary won’t be able to patch.
The bus I bought had to a great extent helped me in managing my little salary, in fact, I rarely touch my salary, it also help me to take care of so many miscellaneous expenses and to be sincere, I’m not feeling the heat of the economy as much as many people are feeling it ‘coz, at least, something must enter pocket daily so long I drive out. I can’t drive my bus without carrying passengers. It’s almost impossible.
And yeah, I recently won one small contract with the bus where I use it to offload goods of one businessman in computer village Ikeja three times a week. The money I’m paid monthly from this little contract is almost twice my monthly salary. Yet, I still add small hustling to it ‘coz passengers full road yakata.
Who big boy epp when passengers full road?
Disclaimer: If you see me for road hustling with my bus, don’t panic, na my side hustle be that. I’m still very much in the force.

This morning, there was panic on the Third Mainland Bridge as a commercial bus caught fire while in motion. Fortunately, no life was lost in the incident.
It was gathered that the driver of the bus tried all he could to bring the bus to a stop at a safe side of the road.
Unknown to him there was a broken down vehicle which was parked at exactly where he thought would be safe for his passengers to alight, the car also caught fire.
Emergency respondents with the aid of RRS men quickly sprung into action to avert further calamity.
The LASTMA, LASEMA, Fire Service and RRS are still on ground to ensure free flow of traffic.

Media Personality, IK Osakioduwa, who is known as a brilliant host, has said having a honeymoon is more important than a wedding reception.
He said this in a recent video he posted online to advice people who are planning to get married.
Read what he said below:
“Actively save and plan to have a honeymoon. I know many people now go without one and they say it is because of cost. No, you can go anywhere. Go to Ibadan, Calabar, Yankari games reserve.
Just go somewhere and have a honeymoon. Escape from the craziness. What does a honeymoon do for you? It takes away from all the business of your lifestyle.
Give this person a chance to relate with you and know you intimately. So before the pre-weeding photo shoots and dinner and the expensive trips people seem to have these days, decide to have a honeymoon.
I would say it is more important than your wedding reception itself.”
