A murder suspect, Omoniyi Ademola, has revealed that he killed a traditional ruler in Ekiti State, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin to take over his throne.
Ademola stabbed Oba Ogunsakin, the Onise of Odo Oro in Ikole Local Government Area to death with a knife on Monday.
Eighty-year-old Oba Ogunsakin, who was enthroned in 1986, was stabbed to death in his palace on Monday after chairing a meeting of his council of chiefs in the palace.
The suspect thrust the knife into the monarch’s chest with the victim giving up the ghost before reaching the hospital.
He fled to Ado-Ekiti after committing the regicide but was arrested at Ajowa Market in Dallimore area of the city around 4.30 pm same day.
Speaking while being paraded alongside suspects arrested for various crimes at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Ademola, who is in his 40s, said he committed the regicide to claim his “right.”
Ademola, who spoke correct English and never showed any sign of insanity, was said to belong to another royal family in the community.
He claimed that his family had nominated him to take over from the late king whom he said was serving as a hindrance.
The suspect said: “The crown didn’t belong to Oba Ogunsakin because the town last year declared vacancy because of the death of our Oba.
“They said our Oba was dead and my family nominated me to take over only for him to resurface again and said he remained the Oba.
“Last year December, my family nominated me and since then I have been trying to take over. That day when I got to the palace, it was the late Oba that first attacked me and I attacked him back which led to his death.”
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bello Ahmed, had earlier addressed a press conference on the recent breakthroughs recorded by the command in arresting the suspects.
The police chief dismissed claims in some quarters that the suspect is mentally unstable.
Ahmed said: “I am not a medical expert to know who is mentally unstable or not.
“But the fact remains that, how could a lunatic committed murder and ran over 100 kilometers from the scene of the incident?
“So, common sense dictates that he must have known what he was doing to have run from that town to Ado Ekiti.”
Answering question on the killing of former Commissioner on the board of the Federal Character Commission, Mr. Bunmi Ojo on August 10, the CP said the command was making progress with some arrests made.
He added: “We are on the trail of the killers, we have reached advanced stage. Some suspects had been arrested and they are helping the police.
“Efforts are being intensified and we shall feed the public with the right information when we are ready to charge them to court.”
Also paraded were 25 other suspects, who were arrested for cultism and other murder cases, including a man, Toyin Ajakaye, who allegedly hanged a commercial motorcyclist in his farm in Agbado Ekiti on Wednesday.
Ahmed added that the 16 suspects arrested for allegedly belonging to ‘Aye’ and ‘Eye’ confraternities have confessed their memberships of the secret cults, saying they will be charged to court soon.
He revealed that weapons like: one cut-to-size gun, one cartridge, criminal charms, Toyota Camry Car with Registration number FKJ 912 DEK, one kitchen knife and one cutlass were recovered from the suspected cultists.
Ahmed revealed that four armed robbery gang: Idowu Oluwole, Ganiyu Rasak, Ojo Ayomide and Asimile Efra were arrested for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle from one victim in Ado Ekiti.
The police boss the command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure that criminals have no hidden place in the state.

Former Big Brother Africa contestant, Pokello has shared the craziest thing that she ever did over a man.
The Zimbabwean socialite and businesswoman, who is now divorced for fellow contestant from Ghana, Elikem gave the story of how she pulled up unannounced to her then boyfriend’s house only for him to show up with another woman.
Asking other ladies on her page the craziest thing they’ve done over a man, she gave her own narrative as thus,
In varsity I was dating this guy who worked on TV. I was young and taking everything for granted. He found out I was still talkin to my ex and the guy was actually on his way to SA to see me. So he really got into his feelings and cut me off. EX came down and as usual an EX will always disappoint you with the same mess you left them for in the first place?. After that hard fall from heaven, I decided to get my man back. That guy had blocked my calls and texts (we didn’t have WhatsApp back then?). I wasn’t coping at all, first time in my life I was not in control of my own self?. I remembered I still had the keys to his house and a friend who lived in the same complex. So I asked my friend to open for me?. Ran the scenario with my bestie Thabi and she approved it ?. So I drove my car out there, told security I was going to my friends, they let me in and I parked my car in her parking space. I stayed in her house exactly 5 mins and proceeded to his. Let myself in and switched on the Telly, to see if he was still on Air. Once the show finished I knew it would take him exactly 30 mins to get home. I cleaned up the place, (you know you need to make your return in Grand style?)I heard his car pull up and I switched off the lights coz hey it’s meant to be a surprise right?♀️?. As the front door opens I hear him talking to someone, then the sound of heels. He switches on the bedroom lights and there I am standing and there he is with a girl wearing a white dust coat behind him? (like what? Was she meant to be a doctor or something?) I completely lost it, things went from 0 to 100 real quick. He is asking what are you doing here and I am asking who is she? Listen, I grew up watching Sean Michaels and Hulk Hogan ok, so I’m a different kinda crazy?♀️. I’m throwing upper- cuts and round house kicks and he is trying to restrain me. Manages to take ‘the doctor’ outside and calls security to ask how I got in. They are equally surprised to see me in there coz I said I was going to another apartment so now they are all trying to ‘escort’ me out. I kicked every person in that apartment until they had to call the police on me?. Police comes and tells me
President Buhari on Friday, in Daura has said the string of victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in bye-elections in Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States is sufficient proof that 2019 elections will be won by the party.

The 4-year-old daughter of a pastor, Elo Ogidi, who was abducted during a church service at Christ Embassy Headquarters in Oregun, Lagos has been found.
Elo, her parents, two other siblings and their househelp had gone to church on Sunday for thanksgiving. While the parents went to attend the service in the adult church, Elo was left in the care of the househelp at the children’s church section.
The Personal Assistant to Elo’s father, Solo Cosmos, who spoke to Punch, said;
“The family were all there at that thanksgiving service and Elo was with the maid, who took care of the three kids of the family. Cake was shared for the children during the thanksgiving service and the maid went to get the kids’ slices. But when she returned, she discovered that Elo was not on her seat again. We got information from a child that he saw Elo outside the tent where they had the children thanksgiving service. The kid said after Elo came out of the tent, a woman grabbed her hand and took her away. We immediately organise a search party but she was not found.”
Elo was reportedly with the maid during a church program on the 8th of July, 2018, when she went missing. She was reunited with her family, some hours ago.
Details about her return are still sketchy, but some church members have since been thanking God for her safe return.
UPDATE: According to her father who spoke with LIB, Elo was found in an orphange home in Benin city in Edo state. He said after her photo went viral last week, a lady called him that he saw a little girl that looked like Elo in an orphange in Benin city. He then had a video call with Elo and confirmed that she was indeed his daughter. He said he would be in Edo state tomorrow to meet with her.
Social media was on fire a few days ago, after a Nigerian Doctor, via his twitter handle, narrated the story of a woman whose husband connived with his doctor to remove her womb, because he did not want more kids.
According to the story which happened in Festac, the couple planned on three kids but ended up having 5 prompting the husband to do what he did.
Discussing the news on TVC’s show, The View, one of the presenters, Tope Mark-Odigie, stated that as long as they couple got married, the husband can do whatever he wanted with the woman.
In her words;
”We cannot behave like the western world. We are in Nigeria and we are in Africa. We are a people that will tell a man to prostrate for hundred times to marry one woman. We are the one that will ask a man to bring a million Naira, to bring a goat, to buy everything possible because you are giving over that woman unto the man to take care of her, to make decisions for her, as long as you own her. As long as we still live within that rule, we cannot begin to form westernized. We cannot begin to form modernity. We cannot begin to form feminism. Except we want to expunge traditional marriage. So, we are going to do legal wedding which means that I am bound only by the laws of this marriage. Then if my husband does anything contrary to my legal rights, of which we have shared everything in the marriage 50-50.
If you want to do culture, do culture. If you want to do modern 21st century family setting, then you focus on that. But you cannot eat your cake and have it. In our country, we have prioritized culture more than any other thing.
A man has a right to decide how a woman should look.If he wants her to be slim or be fat he would say add weight. He would tell her I have bought you. I own you. So I tell you how to look. I tell you how I want your body to look. I control your life.”

A man was shocked to find a strange item in his car while washing it. According to Okaka Austin Chukwuma, the strange item believed to be a charm, was tied with black thread and nylon and was allegedly kept under a foot mat in the car.
The shocked man after the discovery, decided to burn the item which he couldn’t explain got inside his car.
Read below what was shared online;
It was exactly 10:50am today that I got a call from my friend/brother, Engr Okafor Victor Chukwuebuka to come and witness the above picture. He was sanitizing his car, as the Lord wanted it, he removed his seat footrace to dust off the sands, lo and behold, he saw a leakage sachet water.
An attempt to remove it, he saw the above diabolic amulet severely tied with black clothe and strong black nylon as captured in the picture above.
He is nice, God-fearing, hardworking and a philanthropist. Giving free ride to both known and unknown.
Today, here is the testimony of how God protects and opens the eyes of His faithful.
ADVICE: as you work hard on daily basis, do not let the wickedness of man to stop you from doing the right things. Remember, except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman watches but in vain.
Help me thank God for this revelation of the wicked plan of the enemy towards an innocent brother of mine.

A man accused of raping and strangling his friend’s two-year-old daughter to death allegedly fed her a bottle of milk before ending her life, court papers reveals.
This emerged from court papers during Willie Simons’s pre-trial proceedings at the Cape High Court on Friday, August 17.
The matter was postponed to August 29, for Simons’ Legal Aid lawyer to come on board.
On the 28th of February 2016, just a few days after her 2nd birthday, Zaakierah Hendricks was raped and brutally murdered by Simons. He is a friend of the family and was the soccer coach for under-7s at a club in Manenberg.
Forensic evidence, such as DNA test results, have delayed the arrest of the suspect in the murder of the toddler.
Willie Simons was taken into custody a month ago after police tested the DNA of 14 men who had lived on the property where Zaakierah was found dead, and his DNA came up positive.
Simons made his first appearance at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last April, where he is facing a rape and murder charge.
Zaakierah’s mother, Zayda Hendricks, 24, said she had left the child in Simons’ care as she and his girlfriend went to Club Cameo in Heideveld.
She said she trusted him because he was her friend and he also coached soccer players in the community. Zayda says Simons had offered to look after Zaakierah for her.
“My son’s father was looking after him and my mother was not available. Willie heard me talking to someone that I didn’t have a babysitter and offered to look after Zaakierah,” she says, crying.
Zayda says when they left, Zaakierah was already asleep. She returned home the next day, “between 7am and 9am”.
“I saw Willie standing outside and he said the child was still sleeping and that she was at the back (bedroom) I walked inside the house and spoke to the (home) owner and told her about the night we had and she said the child is at the back.”
The mother says when she reached her tiny daughter, the little girl was barely alive.
“When I touched her hand, she was ice cold,” Zayda says.
A relative was called to try and resuscitate the child who was still breathing, and she was rushed to hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Zaakierah’s paternal grandmother, Jeanette Daniels, 62, had said:
“They said there were scratches on her neck and when we went to look at her body at the mortuary, we knew something bad had happened to her.
In court papers presented last Friday, it was revealed that Simons allegedly fed Zaakierah a bottle before raping and strangling her.
“The accused took the deceased to Felicia’s Wendy house on the premises to lay her down to sleep,” the indictment read.
“The accused had the key to Felicia’s Wendy house. The last time the deceased was seen alive was when the accused gave her bottle. The deceased’s mother returned the next morning, 28 February 2016. She found the deceased on Felicia’s bed under a blanket. The post-mortem examination revealed the deceased died due to strangulation and had a gaping anus with pubic hair protruding from it.”
The State said it had damning DNA evidence against Simons.
