“If you can’t celebrate me in public don’t come to me in private” the Northerner said as she openly dragged the celebrity wife.
The Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu says that Nigeria needs N4 billion to tackle infectious diseases.
Ihekweazu said this at the launch of Alliance for Epidemic Preparedness and Response (A4EPR) in Lagos. The launch of A4EPR is aimed at getting major stakeholders in the health sector to combat infectious diseases.
The mission of the group is to seek a way forward in bringing intervention to the risk of infectious diseases, draw attention to the need of innovative partnerships in health emergency. The group also seeks to introduce to the private sector and key stakeholders to the alliance of A4EPR and secure forward commitment and pledge of private sector toward health security.
The NCDC boss, who stressed the need for urgent moves to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, said “Nigeria actually needs about N4 billion to combat infectious diseases. This does not mean that all the monies must come from government; the private sector has a role to play.
“There is the need for financial assistance in critical segments of combating infectious diseases such as infrastructure and equipment which needs about N1.8 billion. The infrastructure and equipment are responsible for the machines and test variables while we also need response and logistics of about N700 million. In Emergency Stockpile, we need N600 million, for Technology and Innovation segment, we need N600 million, Capacity Development needs N200 million, while Advocacy and Community engagement will require N100 million.” Ihekweazu said that the agency was mandated with the task of enhancing the countrys preparedness and response to epidemics.
He added that “we are responsible for the prevention, detection and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases. The core mandate of the NCDC is to detect, investigate, prevent and control diseases of national and international public health importance. We played leading role in the response to the outbreak of Lassa fever, Cerebrospinal Meningitis Cholera, Yellow Fever and Monkey Pox. For now, we need to be deliberate in our actions because we are not sure of the next outbreak, so we need to have all the facilities intact and also get enough funding.”
Cynthia Cherop, a student at the Eldoret based Moi University, Kenya, has confessed to have stolen Sh70,000 from her mother’s two bank accounts, which she entirely spent on her boyfriend.
Ms Cherop pleaded guilty to stealing the money from Barclays and National banks before spending it with Josephat Ng’ang’a. She has told a court session that she bought second hand (mitumba) clothes for her business.
Barclay’s Bank’s CCTV captured the two love birds leaving the bank after withdrawing the money. The boyfriend would later threaten the mother of his girlfriend (Mrs Milka Chebosisi Sitati) of thorough beating if she would talk of it.
Ng’ang’a denied the attempts of assaulting Ms Cherop’s mother, and was released on a Sh30,000 cash bail.
Chief magistrate Francis Andayi said it was unfortunate that the accused stole the money to spend with her boyfriend whom her mother did not approve of.
However, two of Ms Sitati’s brothers pleaded with the court to release Cherop to them since her mother did not want to see her. They said they wanted her to continue attending college.
State prosecutor Solomon Naulikha asked the court to treat the accused as a first offender and was not opposed to her being ordered to serve probation term.
Beyonce shared intimate details about her life in the latest issue of Vogue magazine (read here).
The mother-of-three spoke to Clover Hope about her ancestry, her journey, and her heritage.
Speaking on her journey, she said:
I come from a lineage of broken male-female relationships, abuse of power, and mistrust. Only when I saw that clearly was I able to resolve those conflicts in my own relationship. Connecting to the past and knowing our history makes us both bruised and beautiful.
I researched my ancestry recently and learned that I come from a slave owner who fell in love with and married a slave. I had to process that revelation over time. I questioned what it meant and tried to put it into perspective. I now believe it’s why God blessed me with my twins. Male and female energy was able to coexist and grow in my blood for the first time. I pray that I am able to break the generational curses in my family and that my children will have less complicated lives.
Speaking on her family, on the legacy her mother passed on to her, and the one she intends to pass on to her children, the 36-year-old said:
My mother taught me the importance not just of being seen but of seeing myself. As the mother of two girls, it’s important to me that they see themselves too—in books, films, and on runways.
It’s important to me that they see themselves as CEOs, as bosses, and that they know they can write the script for their own lives—that they can speak their minds and they have no ceiling.
They don’t have to be a certain type or fit into a specific category. They don’t have to be politically correct, as long as they’re authentic, respectful, compassionate, and empathetic. They can explore any religion, fall in love with any race, and love who they want to love.
I want the same things for my son. I want him to know that he can be strong and brave but that he can also be sensitive and kind. I want my son to have a high emotional IQ where he is free to be caring, truthful, and honest. It’s everything a woman wants in a man, and yet we don’t teach it to our boys.
I hope to teach my son not to fall victim to what the internet says he should be or how he should love. I want to create better representations for him so he is allowed to reach his full potential as a man, and to teach him that the real magic he possesses in the world is the power to affirm his own existence.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said that the money recovered from the late military ruler, Gen. Sani Abacha, is not being shared to the poor and vulnerable as widely believed.
Rather, he said, the money is being deployed in the financing of Federal Government’s social investment programmes comprising four components
He described as “mischievous” the insinuations that the government would share to the poor the Abacha loot repatriated by the Swiss Government.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mohammed said this on Monday when he paid an official visit to the Abuja office of The Authority newspaper.
“When the first tranche of Abacha loot was paid under former President Goodluck Jonathan, the Swiss Government found out that the money was re-looted by those in the administration.
“So, when they wanted to release the next tranche, they put the condition that it must be used for the most vulnerable Nigerians.
“We said there is no problem. It is the money we are using to finance our social investment programmes comprising four components,” the minister said.
Mohammed further said that 8.5 million pupils in government schools across the country are currently being fed under the Home Grown Feeding Programme.
Similarly, he said, over 400,000 families are being paid stipends of N5,000 every month under the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme.
“The beauty of this programme is that it is being done in collaboration with the World Bank.
“It is the World Bank and various agencies that determine the beneficiaries and who are the most vulnerable Nigerians.’’
Mohammed said that part of the money was being used to finance the employment of young graduates through the N-POWER programme.
He said that no fewer than 200,000 people had been employed in the first batch and another 200,000 would be resuming very soon.
“The fourth is the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme whereby market women, craft people etc., are given loan between N50,000 and N100,000
“So, when we say this money is being used for the poor people, it is not as if we are sharing it to poor people in the states,’’ he said.
Mohammed said the Buhari administration would remain accountable and committed to the welfare of the common people.
The Tanzania Football Federation has appointed Nigerian football legend Emmanuel Amuneke as their new national team coach.
The Tanzania Football Federation confirmed the appointment on their official Twitter handle, with Amunike being unveiled by TFF President Wallace Karia in Dar es Salaam on Monday.
The 47-year-old, who has been without a job since leaving Sudan’s Al Khartoum SC in March, signed a two-year deal with the East Africans, replacing former coach Salum Mayanga.
He will work to help his team get their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track.
Amunike won the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria in 1994 and the Olympic gold with the Super Eagles two years later.
Emmanuel Amunike is a Nigerian retired and Tanzania national team coach, as footballer who played as a left winger, and a current coach. His professional career was blighted by injury.
A team of surgeons has been suspended for taking selfies in the middle of an operation and posting them on social media.
The group of medical professionals, including the surgeon, anaesthesiologist, two surgical assistants and a surgical nurse, work at the Hospital San Jose de Capilla del Senor in Argentina.
The images were taken during an operation and shared on the social media account of one of the surgeons, Lorena Olguin, who works in the gastroenterology area of the hospital.
The photos show the medical team looking at the camera with their surgical masks and gowns on.
One of them shows three of them standing over the patient lying on the operating table, and another with the whole team showing the equipment used in the surgery and bits of gauze with blood on it.
The hospital authorities say they have suspended all of those shown in the photo because they consider it irresponsible behaviour.
The Chinese Film Authorities has banned Disney’s new Winnie the Pooh movie, Christopher Robin.
Images of the character Pooh have been blocked on social media since last year by Chinese authorities, after the AA Milne bear became a symbol of political dissent. Chinese president Xi Jinping has been compared to the bear.
The comparisons which began in 2013 features an image of Xi walking with former president Barack Obama which was posted alongside a picture of Pooh walking next to Tigger.
In 2014 another picture of Xi shaking hands with Japanese
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shared along with a picture of Pooh with Eeyore.
As the memes grew popular, Chinese censors began blocking images, GIFs and mentions of the bear across social media.
In 2015, a picture showing Xi in a motorcade alongside an image of a Winnie the Pooh in a toy car was called “China’s most censored photo” by political analysis company Global Risk Insights.
Back in June, China censored comedian John Oliver and HBO’s website after the British talkshow host ran a segment on his US show, Last Week Tonight, criticising Xi and China and also mentioned the President’s sensitivity to being compared to the bear.
Political Analysis company, Global Risk Insights suggests the censorship of Pooh bear may be taking place because the comparisons with the President are seen by Beijing as “a serious effort to undermine the dignity of the presidential office and Xi himself”.
Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time was also denied a release earlier this year in China but Skyscraper, Mission Impossible: Fallout, and Ant-Man and The Wasp are among Disney’s offerings to open in the country.
Christopher Robin is a live action film featuring Ewan McGregor as the lead role and tells the story of Robin reuniting with the honey-loving bear as an adult and rediscovering his playful imagination.
Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State, now Minister of Transportation has claimed he has nothing to do with money.
He said even people that criticize him in the state know he has a good reputation, adding that he does not indulge in alcohol or cigarette.
The former governor said he has the moral standing to criticize members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for allegedly looting the nation for almost 16 years because he was not corrupt.
He said:
“I ask people ‘what do I need money for?’ I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I am not the one with luxurious houses and cars and it is like what I said when I became governor. I said Nigerian politicians actually commit what they call manslaughter, which is killing by accident when you don’t have intention to kill. How do we politicians kill by accident?
“The money that is meant for the people and earmarked to be used for building hospitals, you take it for your private use and the hospitals are not built and so Nigerians go to hospitals where there are no drugs and they die without knowing it.
“For me, you have committed manslaughter and the problem for me is that Nigerians don’t hold us accountable!”

A rather scary video has emerged online showing the moment a cow went mad and chased people about in broad daylight.
The incredible incident reportedly happened on Thursday in Okota, Lagos.
At one point in the footage, a bus is seen trying to bump into the cow in a bid to subdue it, but the animal escapes being hit and continued its rampage. It then charged directly at two persons riding on a bike. The two men jumped off the bike and ran for their lives.
The rather crazy animal did not stop its rampage even after being hit from the side by a bus but attempted to hit the vehicle with its horns.
Towards the end of the video, a man is seen with a rope in his hands as he tries to use it to subdue the animal. He fails, however.
The video ends with the cow running off in the distance. It is not known how the drama ended.
Former BBNaija 2017 housemate, Gifty who is well known for her controversial posts on social media shared sultry bedroom underwear photos last week which got many people talking.
The sultry photos which seemed like a promotion for a lingerie seller/producer, was captioned:
“Do As I Say, Not As I Do.
PS: I careless about your sh*t talks, it doesn’t pay my bills.
What I Post pays. + Focus on your life before focusing on my post”.
Even though she gave a warning for people to focus on their life and not her post, some people didn’t heed the warning as Gifty received quite a number of backlash from her followers.
She took to her Instastories to slam those that attacked her over the photos.
She wrote:

According to him, “We would have done more with our creativity if platforms like this existed as it is exciting to know that people are around to cheer you up.”
Tobi, who is also a photographer, actor and model, urged the older generation to join social media to view the works of young people and appreciate them.
He said, “Our daddies and mummies, please join us on Instagram and Facebook, there is a lot happening there and support the younger ones.”

Efe Ejeba, winner of the 2017 edition of the BBNaija reality show has just signed another endorsement with an educational institution, Kalinga University, India.
The Warri singer, showed so much excitement when he made the update on his Instagram page, earlier today and he wrote:
It’s official African Brand Ambassador for Kalinga University, India.
Powered by @dahksn (official representative for Africa)
Kalinga University offers scholarship opportunities to Nigerian/African students.
Cc @bola.asha@sanjay_missionusa
Efe has been making some waves after the release of his song titled Warri, where he featured popular rapper Olamide.
Remember that the rapper had promised him a feature while he was on the show in 2017. He has also gone ahead to feature other notable Nigerian singers on some of his songs, notable among them is Oritsefemi.
fe, although was criticised by many as a rather non-talented singer, but he seems to be proving his non-fans wrong as a check on his Instagram page indicates that he has been appearing at shows at different parts of the continent.
He was also among the artistes that sang at the just concluded African Senior Athletic Championship, in Asaba.
From the love the singer got at the event, it is quite obvious he is well appreciated by his fans, especially the ones from the South-south part of the country
He however replied the troll who tagged him an idol worshiper.
This of course got many talking and now John has replied his critics.
I usually don’t respond to ‘negative ‘ comments on Instagram but these set of comments need clarification. I posted a picture of myself touching the feet of a statue Christ in a church in Montreal. Some people said it’s idol worshipping. Some said it’s blasphemy and others too said it’s occultism. If we all turn our bibles to Matthew 9:20–22, it’s talks about a woman touching the robe of Jesus to be healed.
She said ‘If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed”. That was her faith. And her faith healed her. When we go to certain churches these days, anointing oil, water etc are sold. Some are asked to pray over these and apply them to be healed. What about those that touch Tv’s to be healed? Is that idol worshipping? Is that occultism?
No, it’s all in your faith. Faith is such a big influence if used correctly. I’m a proud catholic and I will never be ashamed of that. My catholic beliefs and principles have brought me this far and it’s taking me further. We all believe in one God. No need to judge. God bless us all.
The Ex-BBNaija 2018 housemates stepped out yesterday for an event in Warri, and they all looked absolutely stunning.

The reality stars have individually been trying to make a name for themselves in the entertainment industry since they came out of the Big Bother Naija house but once in a while, like on this occasion, they meet each other to enjoy a nice time.
Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has said God has not revealed to him yet who his successor would be.
He stated this at the ongoing ministers’ conference of the mission holding at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State.
The four-day annual conference is expected to come to a close Sunday evening while the 66th annual convention will start on Monday and last for six days.
RCCG is believed to be the biggest Pentecostal mission in Africa with branches in more than 100 countries around the world.
According to Pastor Adeboye, God has not told me about any successor at all, whether you believe it or not.
“Elijah knew before Elisha knew that he would succeed him, Moses also knew that Joshua would succeed him and likewise Eli knew before Samuel and not the other way round and therefore, God will tell me first before any other person about who will become my successor as a general overseer.
“So, those of you who are carrying rumour of who would be my successor or claiming to be the one that God had chosen should desist from such act as God had not shown me anybody yet.
”Some even said I would hand over to Bishop David Oyedepo, some said to Pastor Joe Olaiya because the two are very close to me that they do minister during our major events such as the conventions, Holy Ghost congresses and yet another quarter said one of my sons is the one succeeding me.
“But I would advice you to always check sources of your information before believing such information and also to focus on whatever you are doing rather than spreading rumour.
“So, let me say it loud and clear again that God has not told me who my successor is.
“What God had told me several years ago was that He would tell me who my successor would be at least five years before I would be called home and as at this now, He had not told me anything as regards that, which means He is not ready to call me home in the next five years.”
Pastor Adeboye, however, declared that he ‘pity’ who would eventually emerge as his successor because such a person would have to pray more than I do and has to sacrifice a lot also.
“Because I know how many hours I pray a day and I can count how many days I eat in a year too.
“So, whoever that will take over from me, such person will have to surpass me and God will have mercy on the person.”
