Groom Marries His Bride, then watched as she died 18 Hours Later

Standing in front of loved ones, groom Dave Mosher looks down and smiles as his new wife triumphantly throws her arms into the air.

But his grin hides a feeling of “torture” – for he is quite aware, these are some of the final moments of his beautiful bride, Heather Lindsay Mosher.

Just 18 hours after the emotional hospital ceremony, he held Heather’s hand as she took her final breath following a year-long cancer battle.

Aged only 31, she had fulfilled her dream of becoming a wife and a mother – to her husband’s daughters, Sophia, eight, and six-year-old Molly.

Now, seven months on, Dave, 35, has bravely spoken out about his and Heather’s wedding day and the devastating hours that followed.

“The wedding was torture for me,” he told Mirror Online.

“Here I am – I’m in the final hours. I was a wreck throughout the service. We had to stop several times because Heather couldn’t breathe.

“We then went back to her hospital room for the reception.

“On one side of the room we have food and cake and pictures – and on the other side of the room we have Heather who is hours away from dying.

“No-one knows how to react. We cut the cake and we had a nice moment there. For me, it was like torture, knowing what’s just around the corner.”

The dad, whose ex-wife, Ashley Mosher, took breathtaking pictures of the wedding, added that he had met with doctors before tying the knot.

“I had met with them a few hours before the wedding and asked, ‘What are we looking at here?’” he said.

“They said, ‘She’s going to pass before the week’s over’.”
Dave married ‘soulmate’ Heather in the hospital’s chapel on Friday, December 22 last year, as his two little girls proudly looked on.

Despite wearing an oxygen mask to help her breathe, Heather smiled, laughed and shared tender embraces with loved ones throughout the day.

She donned a stunning white bridal gown, with flowers placed on her lap.

The next day, a heartbroken Dave clutched his bride’s hand as she passed away, only hours after they had exchanged vows in Connecticut, US.

“All she wanted was to be a mother and a wife,” said the groom, who wants to raise awareness of the rare type of breast cancer Heather suffered from.

“She was able to do both. I feel that cancer took Heather on her terms.”

He added: “We all stayed the night [before she passed away].

“I was holding her hand – as soon as she stopped breathing you could see her spirit leave because her skin changed. She was gone.”

My husband has refused to pay back a N5m loan I got for him – Wife

A housewife has revealed her husband has refused to pay back a loan of five million Naira she got for him.

She revealed that one of the reasons for constant misunderstandings between her and her estranged husband bordered on financial issues.

Mrs. Stella Nwobike stated that she had secured a loan of N5m for her husband, Victor Nwobike, but that he had refused to make a refund so far.

The woman spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria, even as her 34-year-old sister, Chioma Ihu, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing Stella Nwobike’s husband several times.

Ihu said she committed the act to save the life of her sister.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ihu was arrested on Saturday for attempted murder of Victor Nwobike at her sister’s Lekki Phase 4 Garden, Lagos residence.

The suspect, a make-up artist, told NAN at State Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, that she had lived with her sister for six weeks before the incident.

She said:

“I came from Port-Harcourt to stay with my sister in Lagos because she was having problems with her husband.

“Usually, I shared same room with my sister; but on this particular day, I slept off in the sitting room because I got home late the previous night.

“Early in the morning, at about some minutes past 5 a.m., I started hearing noise from my sister’s room. I thought it was the usual husband and wife argument.

“But when their daughter started saying ‘Daddy, don’t kill my mummy,’ I rushed inside and I saw him using a device with electric current on my sister.

“I tried to stop him, but he used the device on me, pushed me away, saying that he will kill us both and he started kicking my sister while she was on the floor.

“When I noticed that he concentrated on my sister, I quickly picked a bottle of wine and hit him with it. I don’t know how I stabbed him, I didn’t intend to cause him so much harm,”

Ihu’s sister, Stella Nwobike, who was assisting operatives with investigation at Panti, also accused her husband of domestic violence.

The 44-year-old mother of five told NAN that she had been married for 13 years.

The best way to learn, is to fail at something – Uti Nwachukwu speaks on getting married…

Uti Nwachukwu, co-host of African Magic’s “Jara” in this conversation with J.K. Obatala talked about the concept of marriage and his life in general.

Read excerpts from the interview below:

Tell me, about yourself.

I am an actor, model and T.V. presenter. My acting career  took off, after I won the Big Brother, All Stars Edition, in 2010.

My parents gave six siblings a decent upbringing. I was the last born. My father is late. But my mother is in the U.S.A. She, and everyone, else is doing quite well.  I’m very family oriented. Very stable. Very grounded.

When you say, “family oriented,” does that mean you’re married?

No, no, no, no. For me, it’s all about a close nuclear family. We’re very close. We grew up, as each other’s friends.

So, I’m all about family. I respect old family traditions. Family values. Family comes right after God, with me.

But you do have long term plans, to marry?

I used to have “long term plans,” about everything in my life! But history has taught me, that you can’t be in total control. You can only hope.

I learned that the hard way, back when I was 22 or 23. I thought I had my life figured out. But I didn’t—and ended up, having to start all over again.

What happened?

I’d just gotten my diploma and was working at Guaranteed Trust Bank (Benin). I wanted to further my education, in the  USA.

On winning the visa lottery, I thought everything had fallen into place.  But the U.S. Embassy disqualified me, because of a first-name-last-name error. That trivial was in 2005, 2006.

I had gained admission to a university in Minnesota, you know. And my sister even moved into an apartment, big enough for the two of us. Then, my castle came crashing down!

But you have hopes of getting married?

Yes. I have hopes. I mean, I would definitely like to get married and start a family. I don’t know if it’s now or later. I really don’t care when.

What is your main vocation?

I’m primarily a T.V. presenter. But acting comes very natural to me. I’m in acting, because of encouragement from a lot of people. Producers and directors liked me.

So, I said, “O.k. That means I can do this.” But what I love doing most, is hosting and T.V. presenting.

How many films have you appeared in?

Close to 20,in nine years. My first film was, “You Must Do, Or Die!” It was produced in Lagos.  Ini Edo  spoke with Stanley Ebonine, the producer, and he casted me.

Afterwards, I went back to Big Brother. Then Desmond Elliot casted me, in a couple of his movies. And, like they say, the rest is history.

How do you find Desmond Eliot, as a director?

He’s alright. He’s cool, you know. I enjoyed being on set. He knows what he wants. And he executes it, quite well.

Desmond is, like, my mentor. He opened me up, to the world of acting. He’s an actor’s director, not just a technician. He coaches you, on set. So, I learned a lot from him.

What is the movie you’re best known for?

“Finding Mercy,” released in 2013! That was my most popular film. It’s on Netflix, and everything. That was, like, my “break out” performance.

So,“Finding Mercy” opened doors for you?

Well, winning “Big Brother Africa,” opened doors for me, at least in the world of entertainment.

But, you know, being a reality star, a lot of people don’t take you seriously. They see you as this talentless person, who has acquired fame by just being silly, on T.V.

Consequently, I had to prove myself, prove I was willing to work hard, to be taken seriously. So “Finding Mercy,” kind of consolidated my position. It established me firmly, as an actor.

Among the movies you’ve made, what is your favourite?

I cannot choose, just one. I have three favourites. I like “Finding Mercy.” I like “Breathless,” for which I was an AMAA runner-up, as “Best Supporting Actor.” And I like “In The Cupboard”—my first movie with Desmond Elliot. It was amazing!

There was a big joke, during the “Wedding” scene, on the set of “Mummy Dearest” –and everybody was laughing. What was the joke?

I’m not sure. The fact is, I’m constantly laughing at one thing or the other. I’m like the clown, on set. I like to laugh. I like to laugh at myself as well as other people.

I like to make jokes, in a serious situation—when the environment is tense. It could have been anything part of the script or us making fun of each other.

That’s me. I’m always laughing. I’m a happy-go-lucky fellow.

How do you assess the Nigerian film industry?

I think we’re growing, fast evolving. It could be better. But considering the kind of issues we’re facing in the country, I think the industry is doing quite well. Eventually, we will get there.

I remember when Indian movies started. They were laughable. We used to make fun of them. But today, Indian movies are topnotch. The same thing is occurring with Nollywood.

You say the industry “could be better”. What are the improvements, you’d like to see?

Well-made action flicks are rare. You know, we’re very drama-oriented, in Nigeria. We tell very good dramatic stories.

Comedies? Well, we’re also good in that genre. You know, Nigerians love a lot of comedy. But our comedies are not really deep. Or, let’s say, they’re not intelligent comedies.

They’re very slapstick. And I’m a sucker for intelligent comedy like sarcasm sort of like British humour. So, we can improve in that area, as well.

Maybe, it’s because we’re passing through a period of anti-intellectualism, in the country?

Yeah, you know. That’s a huge problem and a challenge in Nigeria, right now. We’re very anti-intellectual. Something needs to be done.

Who are the Nigerian directors, you admire?

Oh, I love Desmond Elliot. He’s my number one favourite. I also love Walter Banger. I’ve seen his movies. And they’re absolutely mind-blowing.

Kunle Afolayan is good. So are Chico Ejiro and Teco Benson. I also like Ezu Ojukwu, director of “’76″ which is, arguably, the best Nigerian movie, ever.

The best Nigerian movie ever made?

The best. Quote me, anywhere!

But it didn’t do too well at AMAA. It won only “Best Nigerian Film” and “Best Artist”. What do you think was responsible for that?

I don’t know. At the African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards, it won in six, seven or eight categories. So, one man’s meat is another man’s poison!

I don’t know why it didn’t sweep all the other categories at AMAA. But it’s a beautiful movie.

You’ve complained about the lack of action films in Nigeria. But there also seems to be a dearth of detective movies, as well as scenarios featuring “invaders from outer space,” “devouring monsters” and that type of thing?

In Nigeria! (Laughing) Nah, we’ve not gotten that far yet!

What about detective movies?

Detective movies? Yes. I think we can accomplish that if we put the right pen, to the right paper.

Why aren’t more filmmakers doing that?

Because, like you’ve said: Nigerians are very anti-intellectual. You have to do a lot of thinking.

There are already so many problems, to deal with. When one goes into the fantasy world of cinema, he just needs to feel good. He needs to laugh. He needs to be happy.

Most people don’t want the extra burden, of having to think and figure things out when you’re just there to be entertained.

What is your advice, to young Nigerians seeking entry, into the industry?

I would say, start with a big dream. If it’s not in your heart, then it’s not for you. But if it’s in your heart, chase it and when you chase it, don’t stop!”

The best way to learn, is to fail at something.  Every time you fail at something, you’ve learned how  not  to go about it. Follow instructions. Be disciplined. And educate yourself.

You used the term “Nollywood”. Personally, I have a problem with that.

(Laughing) I know. Me too! I mean, but that’s what they’ve chosen. I have a lot of problems, with a lot of things. But what are you going to do, be the only one in some corner?

I would rather use the term, “Nigerian film industry.” But they call it “Nollywood”. So, I say, “O.k. If you all want to call it that, it’s fine, with me.”

You’re wearing dreadlocks.

I’ve never been a plain person. Even before I grew dreads, I used to have a bushy Afro—like yours! I used to want to do crazy patterns in my hair. It’s just who I am, you know.

I’ve always wanted to wear dreadlocks. But I told myself, “I’m going to wait until I graduate”. So, I started wearing dreads in 2009, the year I graduated.

I said then, “I’m never cutting this hair unless I grow bald or I’m paid a truck load of money”.

Right now, I don’t think anyone, here in Nigeria, can afford to pay what it would take, to induce me to trim my hair! But, who knows? Time may change me!

So far though, it hasn’t.

Bovi calls out Ex-schoolmate who stole his provisions 24 years ago

Bovi has hilariously called out an ex-schoolmate who allegedly stole from him some 24 years ago.

In his hilarious narration, Bovi explained how he had gone on hunger strike to save some tin of milk and a box of sugar for the last week in school, only for the items to be stolen by the unidentified thief in what he describes as ‘one of the worlds unsolved crimes’.

See his story below:

“To that my hostel mate that stole my provision in boarding house when I was in SS1. It’s been 24 years now. I still haven’t forgotten. (My pack of St. Louis Sugar and new can of peak milk). I saved those two through hunger pangs and days and weeks and months of starvation.

“I wanted to enjoy my last week in school and you robbed me of those rare pleasures. Know that I woke up today and remembered and I took off my clothes to commit that crime you did me to the hands of the spiritual. I don’t know you but you know yourself.

“I consider it as one of the worlds unsolved crimes. Your day of reckoning will surely come. You will see milk and sugar in abundance but you will not be able to drink it. Amen”

SARS Officers allegedly torture driver over lost bag that owner misplaced at Airport, SARS denies allegation

A Taxify driver, John Otuechere, who was wrongly accused by his passenger of stealing her bag and eventually tortured by the SARS operatives she reported to, has filed for charges over violation of his human rights.

The driver added that he was arrested, detained and tortured on the order of one Mrs Alice Isah.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Isah who came back into the country from training in Dubai on Sunday, July 15, had called the Taxify driver to pick her up from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and drop her off at her residence on Lekki Gardens Estate, Lagos State.

Otuechere said while they were on the way, his car developed a fault which prompted him to park to examine the vehicle.

He said:

“We were on the Third Mainland Bridge when my car started making an unusual sound. I did not stop because it was dangerous; so I managed it until we left the bridge.

“I eventually parked beside a RRS Patrol vehicle to examine the car. While examining the car, a guy crossed over from the other side of the road to assist me. I don’t know him, but he said he was a mechanic, and we discovered that only one nut was left holding the tyre to the bolts on the driver side.

“The woman (Isah) at this point got down from the car to observe what was going on. She saw that we had to unscrew one nut from the other tyres to fasten the tyre on the driver side to the vehichle. I gave the man N100 and he crossed back to the other side of the road before we moved on.”

The 37-year-old driver said they had no other stopover till they got to Isah’s residence where they brought down her luggage. He said the passenger, at this point, discovered that one of her bags had gone missing.

Otuechere said he suggested taking her back to the airport to check whether she forgot the bag, adding that instead, Isah accused him of conniving with the mechanic to steal her bag.

He said:

“I told her that I would take her to the airport and back for free, but she insisted that she personally put the bag in the boot of my car.

“She held me and started slapping me, calling me a thief. One of her neighbours and the estate’s chief security officer accompanied her, and I was taken to the Ogombo Police Station.

“The second day, when the policeman who investigated the case suggested that we searched for the bag at my house and the airport, she said he was supporting me and she petitioned the state police command and the case was transferred to Ikeja.

“Immediately I got to SARS in Ikeja, a policeman, identified as Omoleme, hit me many times with an iron bar to make me confess in the presence of the woman. He said he would kill me and nothing would happen. I was in tears because of the pain; my blood was all over the floor and I was told to pull off my dress and start cleaning it.

“I was taken to the man in charge of SARS; when I tried to explain to him that I was innocent, he ordered his men to hang me because I was not saying the truth.

“SARS cell is a graphic picture of hell; I saw over 70 people inside one room and immediately I entered, I was welcomed with several blows, slaps and kicks.”

The Abia State indigene said it took the intervention of his lawyer before the SARS operatives agreed to search for the bag at the airport.

He added that the bag was eventually found and recovered at the airport where the woman forgot it.

Otuechere, whose two fingers had been broken during the torture, said he wanted justice and compensation for being humiliated and tortured for a crime he did not commit.

He said:

“When my lawyer saw my condition, she was annoyed with the officers for torturing me without investigation. She insisted that they should search for the bag at the airport; so a policeman went with my sister. I was told that the bag was found at the airport.

“When they returned, I was released. The woman has not called to apologise; even the officers of SARS did not apologise for torturing me without investigation. I want justice, I demand a written apology from F-SARS and Mrs Alice Isah for wrongful accusation, detention and torture.

“I also demand N10m compensation for my inability to provide for my family because of the torture.

Otuechere’s sister, Chika, said Isah was not remorseful of what she did to her brother after they recovered the bag at the airport.

Chika said:

“When we got to the airport, we went to where they normally put missing luggage. We didn’t even stress ourselves before we found the bag there. The airport officers told us that they picked it on the floor of the airport.

“The woman was not remorseful about what she caused. The SARS officers were even harassing me despite knowing that she was the one who forgot the bag.

“They broke my brother’s fingers because of this issue. I want the government to fight for us. They should end SARS, they are killers.

Isah, however, said she never took the law into her own hand, adding that she involved the police because she needed them to recover her bag which contained vital document.

Isah said:

“The car started jerking on Third Mainland Bridge and he stopped to examine what happened and discovered it was the tyre. I had to tell him to manage it till we left the bridge.

“After disembarking the bridge, one strange guy came and I saw them looking at the tyre. The driver told me that it was some missing nuts that caused the problem.

“When we got to my residence, we could not locate the bag. Because of those two stopovers and the strange fellow, I thought that that was how my bag got missing.”

Isah said she reported the case at the Ogombo Police Station, where Otuechere was detained, adding that she reported to SARS because she urgently needed her bag.

“I was the one that went to the SARS to report. When they heard from me and John, they decided that we should go to the airport where the bag was found. I don’t know how to explain how I felt when I saw the bag at the airport. I did not torture him; I only reported the matter to the law enforcement agents because I wanted my bag.

“When we were leaving, they said we should bring our lawyers, so I went there with my lawyer and they exchanged addresses and phone numbers. I have been waiting to hear from my lawyer since then.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said Otuechere was not tortured.

He said:

“What happened was that a case of stealing was lodged against him at Ogombo division. Before investigation into the case could start, the complainant in the case moved it to another level of police investigation, which is SARS.

“Through diligent investigation by the F-SARS team, the missing bag was recovered. The Taxify driver was subsequently released on administrative bail. I must tell you on good authority that throughout the period of the investigation, he was not tortured by the F-SARS men.

“However, it must be noted that the suspect was roughened up a bit by a mob. For him now to turn around to put any form of blame on the F-SARS men who worked hard to recover the stolen bag is most unfortunate.

“Meanwhile, investigation into the case is still ongoing and efforts are on to identify and arrest the mob that attacked him before he was handed over to the police.”

UPDATE: Court stops swearing-in of new Imo Deputy Governor Callistus Ekenze

The swearing-in of the new Imo Deputy Governor Callistus Ekenze, has been stopped by a high court in the state.

We had reported earlier today that the swearing-in ceremony was ongoing at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers, at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

However following the new court ruling,  it was gathered that the Attorney-General of the state, Miletus Nlemadim, informed those gathered for the ceremony about the ruling which halted the process.

Recall that former Imo Deputy Governor,  Prince Eze Madumere was on Monday impeached by the state House of Assembly over alleged gross misconduct.

Considering the act as defiance to an order by a state High Court presided over by Justice Ben Iheka on July 30, the legislators and the Chief Judge of the state Justice, Paschal Nnadi, have been restrained from any further moves regarding the impeachment process, pending the hearing and determination of the matter.

Madumere had on the oher hand, flayed the House of Assembly for being a willing tool in the hands of the governor for political witch hunting.

The impeached deputy governor who described his removal from office as illegal, said neither the House of Assembly nor the seven-man panel set up by the chief judge of the state, Paschal Nnadi, invited him to any of their sittings.

Madumere’s media aide, Uche Onwuchekwa said that the House of Assembly has become “mere stooge in the hands of the governor.”

According to Onwuchekwa, “in disobedience to the restraining order against the the Chief Judge, the seven-man panel, Speaker  and members of Imo State House of Assembly from further action on the controversial impeachment proceeding against the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, the House of Assembly in Gestapo manner, has removed the Deputy Governor of the state from office.

The Acho Ihim-led faction of the members of the House sponsored by Governor Okorocha against the Court Order and the rule of law illegally removed the Deputy Governor in a kangaroo manner.

Against the requirement of the law, Prince Madumere was not given fair hearing as he was neither invited during the sitting of the investigative committee in the House of Assembly nor by the seven-man panel set up the Chief Judge.”

WhatsApp finally introduces group video chat

Whatsapp group video chat

WhatsApp has introduced a new special feature, ‘group video calls,’ which now brings it to par with other major messaging apps.

The app is now starting to add group video calling to its iOS and Android app, the company announced Monday. WhatsApp has supported video calling since 2016, but calls were, until now, limited to two participants. With the latest change, the app is upping its support to four total participants.

That’s a fairly modest increase, particularly compared to other services.

Facebook Messenger supports group video calls of up to 50, while Snapchat supports 16 participants.

Apple’s FaceTime will work with up to 32 people when iOS 12 launches later this year.

But the feature is likely more challenging for WhatsApp than some of its competitors.

Its video calls, like other messages sent within the app, are end-to-end encrypted by default, for one thing.

The company also needs to ensure new features are optimized for people with slower connections and older devices.

Once the feature is live, you can start making group video calls within the app by taping on the new “add participant” option in the top right corner of the screen while you’re video chatting.

The company made the announcement in a blog post on Tuesday reads;

“Over the last couple of years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp. In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day. We’re excited to announce that group calls for voice and video are coming to WhatsApp starting today.

“You can make a group call with up to four people total – anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new “add participant” button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.

“Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and we’ve designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions. The feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of our app.”

Lagos Government denies claims of planning to place religious leaders on salary

The Lagos Government has debunked claims of planning to commence paying salary to religious leaders in the state.

According to the Lagos Government in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, the claim was totally untrue and misleading. The statement disclosed that the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Abdulateef Abdulhakeem, made the clarification while speaking on a television programme monitored in Lagos.

Abdulhakeem said: “The clear position is that the Lagos State Government is not intending to employ imams and pastors. There is no such plan and there is no willingness on our part to delve into a private realm.

“What exists in Lagos State is that there is a symbiotic relationship between the Lagos State Government and faith-based organisations and it is a mutually beneficial relationship which has contributed to the growth and development of the state,” Abdulhakeem said.

In the said report, Abdulhakeem was quoted as saying that the state government would soon place religious leaders on the state salary structure to encourage them to use their pulpits and the minbar (pulpits in the mosque) to re-orientate citizenry to shun corruption and immorality.

“I must have been misunderstood or misquoted. We were at a forum where we were trying to encourage religious leaders to be advocates against corruption because religious leaders have millions of adherents and they enjoy the allegiance of millions of followers and we expect them to use the pulpit and the minbar to advocate for good governance and selflessness so that they can influence their members positively.”

Already, the commissioner said a structured approach had been put in place to relate with religious leaders in the state through the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council, which consists of people nominated by the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Muslim Community across the 57 local councils in the state.

“They meet regularly to interact on religious issues and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has even further decentralised that, whereby over 700 of them were appointed, based on their nominations, and they are volunteers who are not paid anything. They come together to nip religious crisis in the bud,” he said.

Calistus Ekenze sworn in as new Imo State Deputy Governor

Calistus Ekenze has been sworn in as the new deputy Governor of Imo State, barely 24 hours after Prince Eze Madumere was impeached by the State’s lawmakers.

He is currently being sworn in at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers, at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

We had reported that the former Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere, was impeached by 19 out of the 27 member-assembly, after he was accused of absence without reasons for a period of three months and a failure to perform constitutional duties like attending state executive and state security council meetings.

However reacting to the outcome of the impeachment proceedings, Prince Eze Madumere accused Governor Rochas Okorocha, of being the brain behind his “illegal” impeachment by the State House of Assembly on Monday.

Madumere flayed the House of Assembly for being a willing tool in the hands of the governor, for political witch hunting.

According to Onwuchekwa, “in disobedience to the restraining order against the the Chief Judge, the seven-man panel, Speaker  and members of Imo State House of Assembly from further action on the controversial impeachment proceeding against the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, the House of Assembly in Gestapo manner, has removed the Deputy Governor of the state from office.”

The Presiding Judge of High Court 8, Justice Benjamin Iheka had restrained the seven-man panel of Inquiry constituted by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Paschal Nnadi, the Chief Judge, Speaker and members of Imo State House of Assembly over a matter brought before the court that bothers on constitutional breaches in the procedure adopted to remove the Deputy Governor from the office.

The Acho Ihim-led faction of the members of the House sponsored by Governor Okorocha against the Court Order and the rule of law illegally removed the Deputy Governor in a kangaroo manner.

Against the requirement of the law, Prince Madumere was not given fair hearing as he was neither invited during the sitting of the investigative committee in the House of Assembly nor by the seven-man panel set up the Chief Judge.

Nigerian man reveals what happened after returning $3k mistakenly transferred to him

A Nigerian man has recounted all that happened when he returned $3k, which was mistakenly transferred to his account by Bank of America.

According to the Nigerian man who walked into the bank with a cheque for the money, the manager of the bank couldn’t stop thanking him and the owner of the money also had a teary moment.

Read the tweet from @asilarex below:

A lady at Bank of America teller mistakenly transfers $3,000 to my account. To cut the long story short, I walk into the bank with a cheque today and the manager couldn’t stop thanking me like she didn’t believe I was coming. And the lady that made the error was almost in tears

Few months ago, it was also reported that a Qatar based Nigerian man had shown the world that not all Nigerians are bad.

Micheal Asemota, who is the Vice President of the Nigerians in Diaspora organization in Qatar, was erroneously paid the sum of QR1.5m which is equivalent of $411,128, after depositing the sum of QR150,000 in his account.

According to Qatar tribune, Asemota said when he got back home, he received an alert showing that a QR1,502,000 had been credited into his account by mistake instead of QR150,200. Asemota went back to the bank and returned the money.

He said:

”After opening the account with the bank, I checked my balance to make withdrawals for a supply job and found the huge sum. I was amazed and decided to contact the bank.

I went to see the manager to report the error of QR1,502,000 deposited into my account. After checking for confirmation, the manager gave me a warm handshake in appreciation.”

Asked why he alerted the bank about the error, Asemota said:

”I knew the money did not belong to me and shouldn’t be in my account in the first place, so there were no motives and temptations to keep it.”
