Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that the defection of over 50 Federal Lawmakers from the APC to the PDP will teach Political parties to respect their members.
Wike noted that democracy, rule of law and separation of powers had suffered extremely, insisting that the gale of defection since Tuesday was instructive to parties.
The Governor said that the mass defection in the National Assembly was also an indication that the will of the people and the liberty of any person to choose the political parties that he wanted to belong remained supreme.
Wike said this on Wednesday through the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Emma Okah.
“The institutions of democracy, rule of law, separation of powers, etc, have suffered enormously for some time now.
“The development yesterday, wherein people feel that time has come for them to move is very instructive.
“The people’s will must prevail and those who lead must lead with the understanding and appreciation of the fact that the people’s will is supreme.
“So, to all intent and purposes, the liberty of the persons to choose which party they want to belong without fear or favour was put to play.
“For whatever it is worth, political parties will now be a lot more careful on how they treat their members,” he stated.
Facebook has reportedly rolled out a ‘Watch Party’ feature for everyone worldwide.
It appears the tech giant is trying to lure back those who switched over to Instagram with this new cool feature and it just might work.
It was gathered that the feature is designed to let people in Facebook groups watch live or recorded videos together while posting comments in real time.
Anyone in a group can start a Watch Party and select co-hosts, who control the playlist and playback.
In addition to that, everyone can suggest videos, and a Facebook notification tells them a party is about to start.
Facebook started testing Watch Party in January but the feature rolled out worldwide on Wednesday 25th July.
During testing, Facebook found some groups hosting parties that ran more than 10 hours.
Last week Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the platform has always been about personal connections and interactions in meaningful ways.
With these new feature you can not only share vacation pictures but also your Live vacation videos.
However, Facebook has a team of employees who review content and monitor live broadcasts once they reach a certain level of popularity.
If a live streamed video violates its standards, the company will interrupt the broadcast.
The longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century takes place this Friday, July 27.
The total phase of the “blood moon” eclipse of July 27 will last 1 hour and 43 minutes, during which Earth’s natural satellite will turn a spectacular red or ruddy-brown color. From start to finish, the entire celestial event will last nearly 4 hours.
The eclipse won’t be visible to viewers in North America, except via webcasts. But observers in much of Africa, the Middle East, southern Asia and the Indian Ocean region will get an eyeful, given cooperative weather, according to lunar scientist Noah Petro, of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said 75 out of 230 stranded Nigerian Football fans vanished in Russia after the 2018 FIFA World Cup .
The ministry’s spokesperson, Dr Tope Elias-Fatile, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the fans absconded in spite of government’s efforts to repatriate them.
Fatile said that 230 stranded Nigerian football fans were profiled to board chartered Ethiopian Airline to Abuja but at the last minute, only 155 boarded the flight.
“As at the last count, over 230 stranded Nigerians had been cleared to board an Ethiopian Airline flight to Abuja, however, only 155 boarded the flight that arrived Friday night July 22,” he said.
He said that the ministry officials had to contribute to feed some of the stranded Nigerians in Moscow as many of them were left with nothing.
He added that though they had the rights not to come back, it would be better for them to return because of the unfavourable weather in that country.
”Do you know that the officials at the mission had to sacrifice their earning by contributing money to feed the stranded fans?,” he said.
He said that if, however, they repented and decided to come back, the ministry was ever ready to assist them.

The spokesperson said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, had also made some contacts with relevant agencies to commence investigation into suspected human trafficking in the case.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stranded football fans including a nursing mother in her mid-thirties arrived Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja at about 9.12 p.m. on July 20.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, who was at the airport to monitor their arrival, had said that the Federal Government was going to probe the case.

So, what made her stay with him despite all odds?
“Why won’t I stay? I told you about some of the qualities I saw in my husband that made me fell in love and married him.
“I have made up my mind to spend the rest of my life with him before the accident. When he had the accident we there together at the University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH).
“I saw in him the determination to survive, to live and to make it in life. Those are the things that also motivated me to stay with him in the time of trouble and up till now.

Chief Antonio Oladeinde Fernandez was a Nigerian business magnate, diplomat and Permanent Representative of Central African Republic to the United Nations. He was considered one of the richest men in Africa.

Caroline Danjuma has shared a powerful story of the birth of her daughter who will turn 4 in September.
The actress revealed that her daughter’s pregnancy was a life and death situation and she was told to choose between saving her life or that of her daughter. When the girl was eventually born, she had two holes in her heart.
Miraculously, she is alive and living a full life now.

A man is very elated to be alive after escaping mishap following a ghastly motor accident along highway near Ore, Ondo state.
According to him, he was traveling from the village to Lagos before the unfortunate incident occurred which saw his vehicle tumble multiple times and landed in a bush by the road.
He did not only come out alive from the accident but came out without any scratch as he even climbed on top of his damaged car to take pictures.

A man has been arrested by police authorities after he was caught having sex with a goat.
The 32-year-old man is currently cooling his heels in police cell for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a goat in Ajumako Anyan Asiam District of the Central Region of Ghana.
According to reports the suspect was arrested by the youths of the area and subsequently handed over to the police.
It was gathered that the owner of the goat had tied the animal at his residence to feed before leaving for church.
On his return, he said he heard an unusual noise from where he had tied the animal so he approached the scene only to find Daniel on top of the goat with his trousers pulled down.
The complainant raised an alarm and the youths helped to arrest Daniel. He said the goat was seriously bleeding at the time it was brought to the police station as an exhibit.
The residents who caught the suspect in the act reported that there were blood stains in the cloths of the suspect.
In a video footage trending online, the suspect confessed to committing bestiality with the animal.

A Kenyan fashion blogger said to be in a relationship with a Nigerian man, Lisa, has advised women to be submissive to their men in order to get whatever they want from them.
In her latest vlog titled “How to get what you want from your man” Lisa Gaitho advised women to wash their men, dry and oil their bodies.
“If he wants to go take his bath, literally wash him. Scrub him, don’t let him do anything, wash him, clean his ears, like how you would if he was a baby. Dry him and oil him,” she says.

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made the announcement during a meeting with some elected Local Government Chairmen and Councillors on Wednesday at the Government House in Makurdi.
This came hours after protesting youths barred him from traveling to Abuja to attend the APC reconciliation meeting.
In mid-July, Ortom announced that he had been red-carded by the party and had become free to join another party of his choice. Days later, after meeting with Oshiomhole, he made a U-turn, saying he was still “flying the APC flag”.
A second about-face was to come few days later, when he said his decision to leave the APC was final.

Nigerian Dance hall singer, Timaya, has opened up on his marriage plan, how he manages to be a parent and a musician, in this new interview with Vibe Magazine.
According to the father of two, he is not a husband ,material, and he would allow his daughter be a stripper if she wants.

Did you actually sell plantain?
I wouldn’t be talking about it if I didn’t do it. Of course, I sold plantain. From Monday to Fridays I’d go to school, on Saturday mornings my mother would shade a lot of plantains. The whole bunch would be like N1,200 which is like N40 each in smaller bunches. I guess that’s what really affected my height. Imagine carrying that worth of plantain on your head. If you’re blessed sometimes you could see a buyer that would just buy everything. I think I’m happy I did; very happy I did.
Let’s talk about fatherhood and music. What are the ups and downs?
Fatherhood is life. Anything that is good comes easy. My music is my love and Emma is my life, so we are living it. Sometimes she tells me that “Daddy I don’t like that song, take it off”, and I will be like “why don’t you like it?” I’m trying to grow my kids in the way of love just so that they can be real. If I have bad breath, my daughter can tell me, “Daddy your breath does not smell nice”.
Music and fatherhood is a happy life. I’m not living like I have to be serious because I’m doing music. It’s the job but that’s my life. I might just be doing music sometimes in the studio with my daughter but of course I’m a father, I know what is good for her at her age. So I can tell her “hey, It is bedtime now”. I’m a responsible dad also.
If ten years down the line Emma says, “Daddy I want to do music”, how would you respond?
Whatever makes her happy, 10 or 20 years down the line.
If today she tells me daddy I want to be a stripper, that’s her life. I brought her into this world.
I just need to make her understand what is good and bad, what is right and wrong. Sometimes what you think is wrong for the child can be good for the child. Imagine, my father wanted me to be a banker, how? That’s not what I wanted to be. I followed my dream. Just imagine if my parents had stopped me. This music that they never wanted me to do is what is taking the whole family somewhere, so, I think I should allow my daughter express herself.
How long did it take you to plan your house?
Just a year. I started on February 23rd 2017, I moved in February 2018.
Do we know the lady in your life?
Whichever lady you people see, take it, because you might not see her again or you may still see her again. That’s Timaya for you.
Are you likely to be married anytime soon?
No. I’m not a marriage material. I’m not ready for that.
