The parri is over; The cloack of immunity torn apart, and the staff broken #Ekiti Integrated Poultry Project/Biological Concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case file dusted off the shelves. See you soon.
After deleting their previous tweet, EFCC wrote ;
This case has been on since 2005, but became a pending case due to the immunity. There’s nothing new here
Household of God Pastor, Christopher Oghenebrorie Okotie has called on two of Nigeria’s leading political parties APC and PDP to adopt him as their presidential candidate.
According to a report by TheNation, the cleric spoke at a press conference in his church during the Sunday service today saying the dreams and aspirations of the people having been confined to oblivion and he believes that we must act now to defend the Nigerian dream as things have gone to a worse state.
He said that he has decided to return to politics seeing that Nigeria needs a credible personality one who is intellectually ready and capable. He added that the Nigerian constitution is obsolete and therefore desires to pursue a mandate that will set up a new government of reconciliation.
“In sincere consideration I humbly and sincerely ask that the APC adopt me as the presidential candidate. I have extended the same gesture to the APC too. This is the time to demonstrate our love for this country.” Pastor Chris Okotie said that this is not out of his will but that of the Lord.
Pastor Chris Okotie first came into politics in 2003 under the Justice Party(JP) where he contested for the position of the President but lost to Olusegun Obansanjo. He again vied for the same position in 2007 under the party he founded, Fresh Democratic Party (FRESH), but lost to Umaru Yar’Adua. Pastor Chris Okotie, not deterred again ran for the presidential seat in 2011 and lost to Goodluck Jonathan.
A pastor has accidentally driven straight into a jubilating crowd in Kayode Fayemi’s hometown in Ekiti state.
According to a Premium Times report, a mid-size wagon ran into an ecstatic crowd welcoming the victory of Kayode Fayemi on Sunday morning, hitting a seven-year-old boy and leaving him ghastly wounded.
Medical personnel were not optimistic about the boy’s high chances of recovery, only urging his family and relatives to be fervent in their prayers.
Witnesses immediately identified the driver to Premium Times as a preacher with Living Faith Church (a.k.a.: Winners’ Chapel). The man was on his way to Sunday service when the accident occurred about 8:26 a.m.
Imole Afolabi was rushed to Heirs Hospital in downtown Oye, and medical personnel immediately shut the entrance to prevent overcrowding and any distraction that could come with it while administering emergency treatment.
Funmilola Afolabi, the boy’s mother, told Premium Times they joined residents who trooped out to celebrate Mr Fayemi’s victory at Ilupeju Junction, Oye, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the All Progressives Congress’ candidate winner of the Saturday election.
The accident scene
Mrs Afolabi, who became instantly downcast in a campaign vest distributed by the APC, said the hospital officials asked her to hold strongly onto her faith.
The pastor, who identified himself to Premium Times only as Festus, said he was not speeding beyond approved limit for the zone before the accident. He also insisted that he held the brakes of his 1970s model Peugeot 504, but regretted that the boy was still seriously injured.
“We are placing all our hope in God,” he said.
Witnesses at the scene said the pastor was not at top speed or reckless prior to the crash.
Hospital officials were unable to interact with Premium Times, with the senior doctor on duty saying it was difficult to speak on the boy’s status as at 9:06 a.m.
A spokesperson for the police in the state could not be reached for comments Sunday morning.
Mr Fayemi, who hailed from Oye Local Government Area, was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election around 8:00 a.m., coasting home to victory against Kolapo Eleka.

Kayode Fayemi, The Ekiti State Governor-elect has described his victory in the polls as significant to the future of democracy in Nigeria.
According to reports from The Cable, Fayemi said this while talking to reporters after he was declared winner.
Fayemi, who won 12 out of the 16 local governments, said the victory is for restoring the values of the people.
The victory of this election, I believe, is for reclaiming the land and restoring the values of our people.
Our values in Ekiti are respect for our leaders, commitment to our people, non-brigandage, non criminality and so on.
This victory is a victory for all, it is not a victory for only Gov. Kayode Fayemi, it is a victory for all the Ekiti people.
It was not just an Ekiti election, I want people to understand that this election has a lot of significance to the future of democracy in Nigeria.
The fact that we have witnessed a free, fair and transparent election process has huge importance for similar exercises like Osun state next door to us and eventually the national elections in February 2019.
A secret joint in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital where men and women go to hire men to give them good quality sex has been discovered.
An investigation carried out by Punch, showed that the joint which is three months old, is located in the government reserved area and is owned by a lady who resides in the UK.
The joint which operates like a bar, has well over 30 men, some of whom are undergraduates in tertiary institutions in the state.
Pretending to be making enquiries on behalf of her female boss, a Punch reporter visited the joint and met with Patty, the lady that operates the joint on behalf of the owner who lives in the UK
“My madam wants a clean and neat guy to keep her company. Is it possible to get one here?” the reporter told the lady manager.
While responding to the question, Patty rolled out their array of services and how they have helped satisfy the needs of many of Port Harcourt’s ‘big’ and ‘lonely’ women and men. According to Patty, they offer only ”take away services”, meaning they only give men to take home for service, they do not provide rooms for the doings…lol
“While others mainly supply women for the satisfaction of men, we do the reverse. Whichever specification of men you need to make you happy in bed, we have them. Communication on the type of man needed and other issues like payment is always discreet. Everything is done through the telephone while the client does not necessarily need to come to this place. As part of our mode of operation, we do not give out rooms here for clients to be attended to; we run a ‘takeaway’ service, so they are expected to meet at a hotel of choice of the customer.
“Our clients need not be scared about the possibility of being blackmailed because all our guys are well-trained and are not allowed to communicate directly with the women needing their services. They are not also availed of the identity or contact number of the client, so the chance of such happening is very remote.
“The type of service to be rendered by our guys depends on how much the client can afford. Our charges are reasonable and negotiable but the standard fee for an entire night service is N40, 000.
“Before any client pays, she must have selected from a number of photos of our guys that we send through the Internet. It is after the person indicates interest in one that we proceed with payment and other things,” she said.
The lady manager said undergraduates make up the large number of male sex workers that help bring happiness to many of the city’s rich and horny females.
“We have a guy here now; he is very clean but not as tall as you want. He is a university student and very good in bed,” she said with a sense of pride.
“There is another one around now too, he is a graduate. I know them very well. They all earn good money for their performances. We usually run medical tests on them to make sure that they are free of any disease, especially HIV/AIDS. But if the client wants an additional test, she will pay for such” she said
Asked if they have as much as 20 men for a night of pleasure for various women, Patty made an enquiry from her madam and confirmed that they have enough men available.
“I just spoke with our director who is abroad through a senior colleague. She said there are enough guys for the task and that as many as could be needed would be made available on request. I want you to come through the company so that I will not get myself into trouble. She (director) will be the person that will give you the persons that you want no matter how many of them you need. She is not in the country; she is overseas but knows how to handle everything from there because she knows everything we do here. If she knows you are coming from my side, she will not bill you too much,” she said
She also revealed that their director also organises men for gay men.
“Yes, even the other guys (gays) have been coming too,” she said. “We have one or two who can attend to their needs for the right price. We are here to make everyone happy,” she said
Patty said she has no idea how the men are selected. An email from the owner listed the sexual activities provided to any customer.
“We offer very sensual massages where you and the masseuse are completely naked in full body-to-body oily or soapy massage. It can be at our spa or wherever you desire. Two hours with happy ending with oily or soapy massage goes for N35,000 and N40,000 separately. We have both male and female personnel, who are medically screened periodically, well-trained and inducted, and from decent backgrounds. We’re friendly, liberal and not judgmental at all.
Therefore, no matter your sexual orientation or secret desires, you are very welcome. Just let us know how to please you better. Due to the sensitive nature of our services, the privacy and safety of our clients and personnel are of highest importance to us.
“However as clients, we ask that you help us by insisting and ensuring that immediately the personnel walks in, his phone is switched off. If a personnel arrives and for some reason you are uncomfortable with the person or the identity of the person, just cancel. Ask them to leave and then call the office. A charge of N8,000 is made for inconvenience. Lastly, please keep the business and service discreet. A secret between us, not to be shared or disclosed,” an email from the owner read

Alex reacted to the relationship during a live Instagram video where she was answering questions asked by her concerned fans.
When asked about Leo and Cee-C, she said;
“I feel nothing, they are cool, I am happy for them”
She answered questions about her relationship status, what she feels about Leo and Cee-C’s relationship, future trips/travel plans, school, Teddy Bear names and lots more during the session.
Meanwhile, Alex has revealed she fell for the scam some Instagram accounts use to beg for money on the platform. (Read here)
Former Big Brother Nigeria housemate, Victoria Oluwabusayo, aka Khloe, has explained why she deleted the birthday post she dedicated to another former housemate, Leo, on her Instagram page.
“I was never following Leo and I usually delete birthday posts at the end of the day. Even the day I posted wishes to my mother; I deleted the post later. That I follow someone on Instagram doesn’t even mean we are friends. I could also not follow someone on social media and still be friends with that person. I just try to be real at all times. Upon leaving the house, I have learnt that people just want to appear successful, irrespective of whether they really are. That’s why many people lead fake lives on social media just to impress people and be accepted. Meanwhile, that’s not really my thing and I wouldn’t go out of my way to impress anybody.”
Describing her relationship with ex-housemates, she said, “I am cool with everybody and if anybody is not cool with me, that is their problem. My favourites of all the former housemates are Anto, Cee C and Ifu Ennada.”
“People said they wanted double wahala and that is what they are getting; the drama is not limited to the Big Brother house. Nothing in the house was scripted; everything was real.”
Caroline Sam, better known as Maheeda, is a Nigerian singer, nude model and former prostitute. According to her, she began her musical career as a hip hop singer but became a gospel singer after becoming “born again”.
She acknowledges she has been naughty to sell her brand and make money, but she said her Daughter will not do the things she had to do to make ends meet.
Maheeda made these known in an interview with Potpourri, explaining why she had made sex her calling card as a singing artiste.
She said ;
“I have been bad. I have been naughty. I believe in beinga sex symbol because sex sells. I want to make money and I want to make my name too at the same time and it’s the only space in the Nigerian music industry that is just there, everybody is scared to take it, so I took it,”
When asked what kind of message she was trying to pass with her nude photos and videos, her answer was simply,
“I don’t know if I’m trying to pass any message or I’m just doing business. I’m just doing my showbiz.”
Now, it seems everything is falling into place for the Goddess of X, as her only daughter has just bagged her second diploma and the truly proud mother just couldn’t keep it down.
“She will and is already having the life I only dreamt of having! All my sacrifices are paying off,”
“I gave her almost all my time so she don’t have to go through what I went through! Or do the things I had to do! . I made great sacrifices so she can have a good life! She will and is already having the life I only dreamt of having! All my sacrifices is paying off. Any single hustling mum out there with no education and support from anywhere should have hope and be strong and never abandon your kids. You will make it, just take your responsibilities as a mum seriously and do it to the best of your ability. Family, my daughter got her second diploma yesterday. I’m a proud mother. Thank God for His Grace and mercies on my life”, she gushed.

A Lagos State University Associate Professor of Economics, Dr. Sunkanmi Odubunmi has allegedly been caught in the web of s*xual harassment of one of his female students.
Coming barely two weeks after the reported sack of one Professor Richard Akindele of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, the insatiable lust for love advances by varsity dons reared its ugly head again at LASU within the week.
Odubunmi a 1987 graduate of the university and best student in Mathematics For Economics, is said to be a no-nonsense economics lecturer and well respected until the recent bubble busted in the latest development that may have changed the university community perception about his personality.
A report said the Oyo State born professor, is presently at the centre of a s*x scandal and examination malpractices involving a young girl (names withheld) of the same department.
Available information stated that the student in question, who had vehemently turned down love advances from the lecturer severally, approached and sought the assistance of a non-government organisation to help track the alleged s*xual harassment.
According to reports, “The NGO later involved the LASU security to trap the lecturer, who was supposed to be due for a full professorship a week to the incident,” said our source.
The source revealed that the young lady was equipped with sensitive gadgets such as a pen, belt and eyeglasses all with a camera to record their video and audio conversations.
It was alleged that Odubunmi fell for the trap and invited the lady to his office on a Saturday to rewrite the failed paper and she agreed and reported with all the surveillance apparatus on her while the NGO people also stationed themselves in another office not far from Odubunmi’s with the laptops connected to the spy camera’s on the lady.
Left all alone, Professor Odubunmi was said to have given her the papers to write her exams and bolted the office door firmly, while the student got down to writing the papers, the lecturer removed his shirt and started cuddling his student from the back.
The student was said to have become panicky, lost concentration and put up a resistance with the lecturer who later found that the student wore a spy eyeglass.
Having smelt a rat and the plot, Dr. Odunbunmi was alleged to have beaten a retreat, hurriedly dressed up, seized the surveillance glasses and destroyed it.
He was reported to have raised the alarm and varsity security guards that are part of the set up quickly moved in with the NGO team and arrested the enraged lecturer.
A source close to the university’s Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR) confirmed the development, saying that a query had been issued by the management of the institution to Dr. Odubunmiin in line with the disciplinary process of the university.
“The next step is before the Joint Disciplinary Committee of Council and Senate,” the source added.
Dr. Odubunmi was recently drafted into the membership of a committee on Open/Distance Learning & Research Institute constituted by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Lanre Fagbohun.
This is coming barely a month after Professor Olusegun Awonusi, an English Language lecturer at the University of Lagos was alleged to have sexually harassed a female student of the institution.
However, the management of the institution will on Monday disclose to the public report of the Fact-Finding Panel on the allegation of sexual harassment involving Prof Awonusi.

The issue of sexual harassment in Nollywood is a subject of controversy that has over the years rocked that sector of the entertainment industry.
While majority of Nollywood actresses have attested to the existence of this act in the industry with claims to have been sexually harassed at a point in their careers, a few others have trashed the talk saying only the desperate wannabes in the make believe world are faced with such a challenge.
Uber talented film maker, Charles Uwagbai has weighed in on the never-ending controversy in the film industry. The brain behind block-bursters like ‘Esohe’ and ‘Brother Jekwu’ explained that he has heard reports of sexual harassment in Nollywood via social media but was quick to separate himself from film makers that engage in the filthy act.
“Well, I can only speak for myself, although I have heard of reports like this on social media but all I will say is, I don’t do it and I don’t think such an act is right.”
He however advised that actresses should look for appropriate channels to get jobs and not go through shortcuts in order to avoid being harassed by anyone.
“My advice to these actresses is that they should lookout for the right channels to get jobs.
“There are a couple of big production houses that call out for auditions, actresses should attend these auditions and also work on improving their skills.
“I have conducted auditions and I realized that some people who claim to be actresses don’t even know how to act, they come for auditions without being prepared and I ask myself, are these the people that want to act?,” he asked.
“Actresses should not look for shortcuts by calling movie directors and producers or sending them messages in a bid to get jobs because by so doing they will fall into the wrong hands,” he added.

They died on July 10th and were buried on Saturday, July 14th at the Church Of Christ In Nations, Kuru Abuja.
Veteran Singer Essence, recently turned 40, and contrary to what many think, she reveals to Sunday Scoop that she is still interested in marriage.
The singer said:
“Why not? A lot of people are being pressured into doing things they ordinarily shouldn’t have done or gone into; especially marriage.
“A lot of people are getting married for the wrong reasons and that is why many marriages crash these days and people commit murder.
“I believe that staying single for this long is for a purpose. There is no timetable for anybody.
“Some people may say that for me to be unmarried at this age means I’ve done something wrong but I believe that I am doing something right.
“There is a time and season for everything and I’m waiting for my time.”
On insinuation that she is actually older than 40, the African prince crooner said,
“It’s not everybody who was born at the same time with me that are still here; I know of some that are no more.
“I am happy and I feel empowered, knowing that I can be more and do more.
“Some people are even saying that I am over 40. I have people who went to school with me and I cannot lie.
“I was born in Army Hospital, Yaba, in 1978. I’m too old to change. I’ve never been the flashy type and I’m still that way. My old friends are still my friends.”
Speaking on her current projects, the singer said, “I will be releasing my gospel album later this month. I have been working hard on it. I am retracing my roots to gospel.
“When you get to this age, you no longer worry about what people say; you do what you truly want. Music, for me, is about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and that is where I started from.
“My songs have always been inspirational with salient messages. I’m just going to be doing more of gospel-based music. I featured only Onus in the forthcoming album and Sammie Okposo produced a song on it as well.
“I was quiet for four years and it was deliberate. I think it is important to take time to re-evaluate yourself at certain times. I have been going through a reprogramming and the end just coincided with when I turned 40.”
Asked to recount the major incidents that shook her in the course of her career, Essence stated, “Over the years, I have had plenty high and low points. If anybody’s life is going straight, that means the person is dead.
“There have been ups and downs and I believe that’s the essence of being alive.
“All the situations I’ve been through have made me a better person and artiste. It’s not about falling down; it’s about getting back up. Whatever shook me was for a season and I overcame.”
During the week, we brought you reports on a radio presenter, Misi Molu stating during an interview that she preferred Yemi Alade as a singer with better vocal range than Tiwa Savage, who in her opinion, shouts through her performance.
In that same interview, Yemi Alade also stated she doesn’t believe there is a ‘number one’ artiste in Africa as the top acts were all doing well and could fill the same concert venues.
Days after a recording of the interview was posted online, Tiwa Savage made a series of posts to insinuate that Misi Molu had earlier begged her for money via social media shortly before airing her views about her talent.
She wrote:
“Wow! They beg you for money today and talk trash tomorrow because it’s not personal; they’re just doing their job, abi?”
In another post, she stated:
“Celebrities are human o. You can’t beg for money then talk trash and expect me to not catch feelings. Like, are you serious? Next time you think of sliding in my DM asking for money or anything; remember your personal opinion and miss me with your BS.”
However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Misi Molu tasked Tiwa Savage to provide proof that she begged her for money. Reacting to Savage’s posts, Misi said:
“Personally, I don’t believe she was talking about me. But if she is, she needs to show evidence to that fact. The situation has been blown way out of proportion than what the intentions of the discussion were actually meant to be. People are giving it way too much credence.”
On the propriety of comparing both artistes, especially when Yemi was in the studio with her, Molu said:
“The type of industry we are in; we are constantly faced with comparison. For example, I have a colleague I’m constantly compared to at work. I did my job by showing my personality as an on air personality. The only problem is that some people do not agree with my opinion and that’s fine.”
Meanwhile, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Yemi Alade refused to comment on her comparism with Tiwa Savage but she maintained her stance that there was no number one artiste in the country.
Speaking through her manager, Taye Aliyu, Yemi said:
“All of the top artistes in the country are blessed by God and they are all doing well in their respective ways. We don’t always have to compare artistes because they have their individual uniqueness. Yemi is always focused on her craft; she doesn’t have time for rivalry.”
Nollywood Actor, Ramey Nouah has shared his life story, career intrigues, experience and family life in a new interview.
Excerpts from the interview below:
Tell us about your background
I was born in Costain, Lagos, where I began my early life before moving to Aguda, Surulere. I lived with my mother and half-brother. My father was never in the picture. I was very playful and I must admit, it’s rubbing off on my kids, and I’m not liking it very much.
I was also very artistically inclined. I was fascinated by comic books and drawings, although I wasn’t exactly great at that. My elementary education was at Atara Primary School, Orile Iganmu, Lagos, and for my post-elementary education, I attended Community Grammar School, Surulere. I also got a Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
Interestingly, my life has been a tale of grace to grass to grace. I was born with a silver spoon but shortly after, everything changed and our wealth went to zero. This made me understand the two sides of life; living a life of plenty and a life of not even having enough to eat. As rough as the experience might have seemed, it actually helped me gain a balance in my profession as an actor; being able to comfortably switch between the roles of the prince and the pauper.
Did you always want to be an actor?
No! Even though I knew I had a dominant creative side, I was sure I was going to become a pilot or an aeronautic engineer. I was obsessed with planes, machines and gadgets that flew and I knew I had to be involved somehow; whether by actually flying them, creating them or building them so other people could fly them.
When did you decide you wanted to become an actor?
I needed money to take my GCE external examination and I just couldn’t get it, no matter where I went. So, I remembered that my friend had told me repeatedly that I had a gift in acting but I had never taken it seriously. When I needed money desperately to pay for my exams, I decided to give it a try and source some money from it.
In 1990, I had a cameo role and in 1991, I had a role in the series, Mega Fortunes, which aired in 1993 and lasted for just a year. After that came the advent of home videos and it’s been a roller-coaster ride since then. I really just went into acting because I needed the money and not because I thought I could act. Over time, I realised that I had a strong passion for acting and thought to myself that acting could really just have been my calling.
What was your mother’s reaction when you told her you wanted to be a full-time actor?
I was already involved in acting before I decided to tell her and when I told her, she had the same angry reaction as any parent of that time would have had if their kid told them they wanted to go into acting. She asked if something was wrong with my head. Eventually, the series I acted in came on air and when all her friends began to tell her that they’d seen me on TV, she was happy with the accolades and positive reactions from people.
How did your father’s absence affect you as a child?
Honestly, I didn’t feel his absence. I couldn’t even tell that my dad wasn’t in the picture. That’s something that my mother would probably have been more concerned about because it would have been easier if he were there to help her in raising me.
Tell us about your first pay cheque.
We had been filming Mega Fortunes and we didn’t get paid till about the eighth month when I finally got N1,100 (about N80 per episode). As soon as I got the money, I ran to Yaba market to buy a pair of secondhand chinos trousers, leather brass belt, black tee-shirt and moccasins. That’s all I could buy with the money. I couldn’t even afford to get transportation back home; I walked from the market to Aguda, Surulere, but I was very happy with my purchase as it changed my wardrobe.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
There was a cocktail event many years ago in the United States and I was talking to some dignitaries about business, work and other things when a lady came and whispered in my ear, “You’re so cute” while slipping her hand in my pocket. As she left, I reached for my pocket to see what she had slipped in and right in front of these dignitaries, I pulled out the panties that she had put in my pocket. I didn’t know what to do because I couldn’t put it back in my pocket. It didn’t belong there, and I couldn’t just hold it in my hands. It was an awkward situation but we all just laughed it off.
Years ago, there was a ban on some Nollywood actors. How did that affect you?
Prior to that, I had told my colleagues that we lacked structure in the industry and that we needed to come together to build a formidable force where people couldn’t just take decisions over us and what we had built. So, when the ban happened, I really wasn’t afraid that my career was over or that I wasn’t going to make money anymore, I was more upset and hurt.
It honestly was an eye-opener for me and I started to think of an alternative market away from DVDs. The DVD marketers were the ones who came together to make the decision; like they had the autonomy and could do as they pleased. It’s enslavement to try and create stars at the mercy and dispensation of fans out there and still want to dominate and manipulate their creative lives. Thankfully, the cinemas came in and I got busy, working with everyone who wanted to take their films to the cinemas. Now, we have cinemas, Internet and so on and DVD is almost extinct.
Have you made your own personal projects?
I have produced a few movies. One was called Elephant in the Room with a lady from Sierra Leone, Zainab Sherrif. Another was for Africa Magic and a few short films; one for Rwanda. I do these short films to practise my directorial skills. I’ll like to become a director eventually to try and tell stories from my own point of view. Right now, I’m working on a project. I’ll be directing a sequel to Living in Bondage, with a business partner of mine, Charles Okpaleke of Play Network and Steve Gukas, the director of 93 Days, who’ll be coming in as an executive producer.
Has any female producer tried to sleep with you before giving you a role?
Not at all! Firstly, because most of the producers in the industry are men. Secondly, I was one of the pathfinders of Nollywood, hustling alongside producers to make the industry what it is. I wasn’t at the mercy of any producer.
What’s the biggest moment in your career?
That would have to be when the United Nations invited notable stars from around Africa to persuade the people of Liberia to have a peaceful election before Ellen Johnson became the president of the country. We, the celebrity guests, were at the centre of the main bowl and there were wires parting us from the crowd on the outside, and they were standing drenched in the rain, screaming for me and shouting my name. I was the Nollywood face that got called from Nigeria and it was very touching to see them react that way. Since I had no song or dance to perform for them, I just went around to touch them, hug the ones I could and speak to others from between the wire partition. It was beautiful and I felt them show me much love.
Not much is known of your family. Why do you shield them from the public eye?
It’s just to have sanity and longevity in my marriage. There are definitely people who wish them well, but there are also some others who make horrible remarks and say damaging things that could affect them emotionally. Once in a blue moon, it’s okay to put them out there, but constantly? No. That’s how I’ve been able to keep my marriage for almost 18 years now.
What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve heard about yourself?
Years ago, a lady came in from Benin, claiming she was my wife. She came to my house, met my wife and mother-in-law while I was somewhere outside town, working. After about four days of her laying camp outside my house with her belongings, my wife had to call in the police. They had difficulty getting her to go till I eventually gave her some money and sent her on her way. It was hilarious.
Apart from acting, what else are you involved in?
I’m a humanitarian. I think it’s important to give back to society any way I can.
Tell us about the power bike accident you had in 2006.
I remember that very vividly. I rode my bike headlong into a BMW X5. I came out of it and thought I was fine. We did an x-ray and I kept insisting I was alright and discharged myself from the hospital, not realising I had a blood clot in my brain, though I had a gash in my head which had been stitched. When I got home, I had a severe headache and pain relievers didn’t seem to work. I couldn’t sleep the entire night and by morning, the pain hadn’t stopped.
We then had to get an MRI. Getting to the hospital, I needed to be seen by a specialist but there was none in-house, so we had to wait till one was called. While waiting, they wanted to sedate me but I refused because I needed the specialist to understand the urgency. Finally, he arrived and checked me, and put me on admission for about seven days, getting about 12 injections daily. When I finally got discharged, to save people the stress of having to come and visit and all, I had to go to London to rest and be healed properly.
How do you relax when you’re not working?
I play squash, hang out with friends at lounges and go on adventures.
How would you describe your fashion sense?
I call it simple and sophisticated. You can look simple yet sophisticated, not looking tacky and all over the place.
Nollywood actress Chika Ike has revealed that she normally prays before visiting popular social media platform, Instagram.
She told Sunday Scoop that she was aware the negativity spreading all over the Internet, especially on Instagram, had the ability to spoil one’s day.
“Instagram can spoil your day if you are not careful or strong. There is so much negativity in the world right now; so, you have to guard yourself with prayers.
“There is a need to start your day in a positive light and when you pray, your day has started positively,” she added.
Speaking on why she wrote a book on her failed marriage and father’s rejection, she said God deliberately made everyone to go through certain things in life so that one could learn and share.
The actress said, “If you go through a lot of things and you are not willing to share, you’ve not achieved the purpose of God for your life.
“People will always have their perspectives about life and they talk about the dead too.
“I have gone through the phase of being scared or afraid of being judged by the public.
“I am learning every day to focus on myself; I cannot control anyone’s thoughts. I was rejected from birth by my father and I addressed it in my new book.”
In the said book, Ike also stressed the role her mother played in her life before she died. “Before my mother died three years ago, I had a discussion with her in the hospital. She wanted to know when I would publish my book; she was once an author too. I told her I was scared and she told me to tell the truth,” said the actress.
“When she died, I lost myself for two years and I did a lot of therapy to get myself together.
“I was so attached to my mother and I didn’t want to disappoint her because she gave me her last word.
“My mother’s death made me understand that life is too short and we don’t have much time on earth.
“We don’t know how tomorrow would be; so, the earlier we started achieving our set goals, the better for us.
“It took me seven years to write my book because I was afraid to share some private things about me at some point.
The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Ekiti State governorship election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has won the poll held on Saturday.
From the results of the 16 local government areas in the state, Fayemi defeated his closest rival, Prof. Kolapo Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party, in 12 LGAs.
Fayemi polled 197,459 while Olusola scored 178,114 votes.
The election witnessed a large turnout of voters and early arrival of the ad hoc staff and supervisors of INEC at polling units.
Voting materials also arrived early in many polling units across the state while voters conducted themselves well during accreditation process.
But tension set in as allegations of vote-buying were levelled against party agents by voters in some polling units. In some cases, the situation led to friction among loyalists of various political parties.
At Ward 12 in the Igbehin area of Ado-Ekiti, an elderly voter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, accused the All Progressives Congress of offering N5,000 to those who had the Permanent Voter Card to secure their votes. He said he rejected the offer.
“I was offered N5,000 to vote for the party but I rejected it. I am 73 years old retired teacher. I cannot allow the future of my children to be bought by moneybags. I don’t know how we descended to this level when people brazenly offer money to people to secure their votes. It was not like this in the past. Will our votes count with this problem?” he asked.
In Ayegbaju and Oye-Ekiti, it was alleged that party agents paid those who had no PVC N2,000 to vote in connivance with the INEC officials.
A source, who simply identified herself as Bimbo, said after those who had PVC had voted, some of the remaining ballot papers were thumb-printed by youths who had no PVC with the promise of financial gratification.
She said, “If you look well and observe the polling units, the INEC officials connive to allow this thing to happen. They pretended to check the fingerprint but it is fraud they are perpetrating.”
The Peoples Democratic Party was also accused of offering voters N3,000 each to secure their votes. Apart from the reported N3,000 allegedly paid to some civil servants and pensioners by the PDP-led state government, the party agents were accused of going from house to house, approaching voters who possessed PVC.
INEC’s preparation, which the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Abdulganiy Raji, had described as foolproof, failed some of the tests on the election day. Although election materials got to many of the polling units early, there were reports of the card readers failing to function properly.
At Ward 11, Unit 009 in Ishan-Ekiti, where the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, voted, his wife, Erelu Bisi, could not vote immediately as the card reader failed to recognise her PVC. The husband expressed apprehension over the situation, saying her vote must count for him.
Loyalists of the PDP in Ado-Ekiti also accused INEC of deliberately allowing the APC supporters to vote while card readers rejected PDP voters in some of the polling units.
At the polling unit in front of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, a man, who identified himself as a youth leader of the PDP in his ward, and who also identified himself as Alawe, said the card reader failed to recognise more than half of the people who wanted to vote for the PDP candidate, Kolapo Olusola.
Elsewhere in Ayede, in the North Senatorial District of the state, some voters also accused INEC of failure to perfect the technology and innovations deployed for the election before introducing them to the Ekiti election.
The election also recorded brigandage and fighting in some parts of the state. A man was injured in a fight among party supporters at Unit 11, Ward 04, at Ijigbo junction in Ado-Ekiti around 7.45am as queues were being formed after the arrival of INEC officials. It was not clear what caused the fight but it was quickly checked by policemen at the unit.
One of our correspondents, who visited polling units in the Fajuyi area of Ado-Ekiti, observed a large turnout of voters with glaring cases of vote-buying which voters called ‘see and buy.’ It was observed that the vote buyers demanded evidence of PVC and assurance that the seller would vote for their party before offering the money.
At Ward 10, Unit 02, security operatives accosted a female voter who had followed the due process of accreditation and voting, only to attempt photographing her ballot paper. The incident prompted uproar from other voters which led female officers to seize the voter’s mobile telephone while also compelling her to delete the photograph.
A source confirmed to SUNDAY PUNCH that a woman sitting by the new Fajuyi Bridge with three bags paid voters on behalf of one of the major political parties.
At one scene, a middle-aged man approached a youth and accused him of voting at the nearby Ward 10, Unit 13 and leaving the polling station to disrupt the conduct at Ward 10, Unit 02.
Another man was heard complaining that he voted and showed evidence to a political party as he demanded payment.
At Ward 10, Unit 13 in Ado-Ekiti, voters were agitated as a domestic electoral observer confided in one of our correspondents that the ‘see and buy’ arrangement had been at play, albeit discreetly.
The atmosphere at the ward was chaotic as a large number of frustrated voters unsuccessfully tried to get registered as a result of a malfunctioned card reader. Elderly men and women stood in the sun for more than three hours before provision was made for the replacement of the faulty card reader.
According to an electoral observer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, other areas that experienced pockets of violence included Ojumose, Damilore and Oke-Ila in Ado-Ekiti.
The source said policemen invited to the scene of the violence in Ojumose shot indiscriminately into the air to disperse the thugs. The source added that cases of ‘see and buy’ were also prevalent in the aforementioned areas.
Actor and producer, David Nnaji, is sending conflicting signals at the moment. He confirmed to Sunday Scoop that he just had a baby with another woman but his marriage to singer, Jodie, was still intact.
He said, “I already confirmed on Instagram that I just had a baby girl. I don’t want to talk much about the identity of the mother because it is my personal life and I don’t want to make it public. I haven’t gotten married to another woman and if I will be doing that, I will rather keep it private. If you study my lifestyle, you will see that I don’t put my life out there. I don’t comment on things people say. My marriage to Jodie is still intact but she is not the one I just had a baby with. I did not take permission from anyone to get married and I don’t need to explain anything to anybody. I don’t even bother to dissuade any rumour because I am not interested.”
Speaking on what he has been up to recently, Nnaji said, “I just finished a project on the happenings in the North-East as regards how they affect women. It is titled, The Torn Petal. I also just worked on a movie titled, Derail. It is the story of a young lady who got derailed. I am also working in the studio with some young music talents and we will be putting something out soon.
“Even though I started as a child actor, being a producer and director now is a natural transition for me. I have done over 6,000 episodes of TV series in my career and that’s a lot of acting for someone who started at the age of 14. I’m now 32 and I am channelling my energy towards producing, though I will still act in future. For me to act, it has to be a script that is engaging and interesting, something unusual. I believe there are new vistas to explore.”
