The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday said it received reports of attempts to clone Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and sell them online.

Nigerians on social media had over the weekend raised alarm after Permanent voters’ cards, PVCs, branded with the Nigerian colour and logo was listed for sale on Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba.

However, in a swift reaction, the commission in a statement by Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze Uzzi, said ‘the clone and sale of the cards were anticipated and measures have been taken to preserve and further secure electoral materials.”

Osaze-Uzzi added that “Several security features and secret source codes are contained in the Smart Card Readers, which enable them to read only PVCs duly issued by the Commission.

The advertisement shows photographs of blank cards, which have not been personalised and which do not contain any details.”

The Statement further said, “This notwithstanding, the Commission wishes to state that it takes these reports seriously and will engage the government and security agencies as well as the promoters of the platform in order to get to the root of it and take all necessary action to take down the advertisement forthwith.

“In addition to the existing features, the Commission is already working to further secure the PVCs and the Smart Card Readers and will continue to protect them from unauthorized and malicious access.

“It is for this reason that, beginning from next week, we are commencing the systematic hardware and software upgrade of all the Smart Card Readers nationwide.

“It is worthy of note that this enhancement had already been successfully done in Ekiti and Osun, preparatory to the upcoming Governorship elections in both States.

Fuel tanker crashes in Cross River state and residents rush with gallons to scoop free fuel

Some residents of the Biase local government area in Cross River state were seen rushing to the scene of a tanker accident to scoop fuel with buckets and gallons while putting their lives at risk.

It was gathered that the tanker crashed and landed into a ditch, when residents noticed it, they all rushed out to get free fuel for themselves.

This is against the warning by the government for people to stay far from fuel tankers because of the danger of explosion.

In a quite shocking video footage making the rounds right about the time of filing this post, a young boy has been seen in the video trying to block the leakage of a particular NNPC fuel tanker in Lagos.

This comes just few days after Nigerians were sent to mourning following the devastating tanker explosion incident that claimed lots of lives at the Otedola bridge in Lagos.

In the video, the young man is clearly seen trying to block the leakage of the fuel tank – which is carrying a volume of thousands of litres of highly flammable liquid – with a cloth while the tanker is on motion on a busy road.

The video has obviously caused a stir online as some presume that the liquid content in the tanker just might not be petroleum… watch below and tell us what you think,

Suspected Fulani Herdsmen kill young soldier in Benue; chop off his p*nis.

A young Nigerian soldier, who hails from Enugu State has reportedly been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue State.

According to the late militant’s friends, the assailant chopped off his penis after killing him.

A post shared on Facebook in tribute to the soldier reveals that suspected Fulani herdsmen took his life and cut off his genitals in the process.

Herdsmen killings: “You are very sick” – Fani-Kayode attacks Osinbajo

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has lashed out at the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain described the Vice President as a “very sick man.”

Fani-Kayode was reacting to Osinbajo’s reported declaration that farmers, who lost family members to herdsmen will be given money.

In a tweet, the former Minister wrote: “The farmer’s family that were killed by Fulanis will be given money. If your family member was affected, you qualify for the money – Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

“Yemi Osinbajo is a very sick man, a very sick man indeed.”

He also berated President Muhammadu Buhari over claims that more people died during the administration of PDP.

“More people were killed in Zamfara than in Plateau and Benue put together – Pres. Buhari.

NFF President Pinnick begs Buhari, Nigerians for forgiveness over Eagles performance

Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick has apologized to President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians for the Super Eagles group stage exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Eagles crashed out of the Mundial at the group stages after going down 2-1 to Argentina in a winner-takes-all game in St Petersburg last Tuesday.

Writing on the Federation’s website, Pinnick issued an apology for the turn of events and reiterated that the Super Eagles will come back stronger for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“We apologize to His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and all Nigerians from far and near, those who came to Russia to support the team and those who watched on television. Our expectation was for a place in the knockout rounds, but that didn’t happen.

“We will go home and prepare harder for the next finals. In truth, ours is a young and vibrant team capable of learning and getting better, and these attributes hold that the future is bright,” he said.

Meanwhile, the World football governing body, FIFA, will pay the Super Eagles of Nigeria and other nations that crashed out from the group stages of the 2018 World Cup tournament £6.1m each.

According to reports, Nigeria would have received £9.1 million if they had progressed to the round of 16 stage. This is because any team eliminated from the round of 16 stage will receive £9.1million.

The World Cup-winning nation is expected to receive £28 million in prize money from FIFA, with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams receiving £21million, £18million and £16million respectively.

50 Cent sues Hip-Hop Magazine over Instagram photo

50Cent has sued an Hip-Hop Magazine, HipHopDX for saying he was lying about a business deal he claimed to have secured, and for publishing his photo without proper authorization.

The drama started when 50 Cent announced that Bellator MMA executives purchased his “Get the Strap” catchphrase for $1 million, that the company intended to use the slogan on upcoming merch.

Shortly after the news surfaced, HipHopDX published their own story, alongside a photo from the deal-signing taken by photographer Christopher Conrad, with a headline that said: “50 Cent Didn’t Sell “Get The Strap” To Bellator MMA For $1M.”

The hip-hop site cited a source who said 50’s claims were not accurate. “A Bellator spokesman told HipHopDX that 50’s post “isn’t true.”

However, he did confirm the G-Unit boss met with the mixed martial arts promotion’s executives, as well as representatives from Bellator’s parent company Viacom,” HipHopDX said in their post.

This got 50 Cent upset, because from the legal documents obtained by The Blast, he said he has the rights to the photo which shows him standing alongside Bellator MMA executives, that he did not give HipHopDX the permission to publish the photo, plus he accused the website of sharing “fake news.”

He then threatened to sue the reporter and the outlet for displaying the copyrighted photo without his consent.

“This shit is fake news Justin lvey, you better go fact check,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Matter of fact I’m gonna sue you and this website for using my picture in the morning. get the strap.”

The Blast adds 50 is seeking at least $150,000 in damages.

Speaking with BBC Africa, one of the women named Ami Dokli, said they decided to go into the crying business after they became windows following the death of their husbands.

According to her, they charge based on how ceremonious the burial is being celebrated.

They are professional mourners at funerals, and people hire them for this one job.

Gas Explosion razes 15 shops in Kaduna State

On Saturday, 30th July 2018, a gas explosion burnt down 15 shops on Ibrahim Taiwo Road by Abeokuta street in Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 5:40 pm. before residents mobilised to put out the fire before it spread further in the densely populated area.

Most of the shops affected by the gas explosion contained kitchen equipment, gas cylinders and refiling facilities. The residents chased away fire service personnel from the Kaduna State University, who arrived over an hour after the fire started. One of the shop owners, Ifeanyi Eze said the fire started as a result of electrical surge which led to heavy explosion in one of the shops selling gas cylinders.

An eyewitness, Samuel Emma said immediately after the explosion, fire emerged from the shop, adding that the owner was slightly burnt and was rushed to hospital. “We don’t know his situation now, butfrom there, the fire extended to the rest of the shops and only a few items were salvaged. “We thank God no life was lost. We called the fire service but for close to two hours we didn’t see them until one fire service vehicle from Kaduna State University came and was chased away by angry neighbours,”he said.

A resident, Hamza Ado said: “we called the fire fighters but they didn’t come and when we called again we were told that they had no water in their vehicles. It was the youth that fetched water from all available sources to control the blaze.”

Billionaire oil magnate, Femi Otedola has announced that he is suspending his Twitter account until he is verified. He says this is due to attempts to impersonate him on the platform.

He tweeted ;

Ever since the Billionaire announced his presence on social media, twitter users has witnessed tweets from fake accounts who were all claiming to be the real Femi Otedola.

Most recently, a fake account tweeted, commiserating with victims of the Lagos Tanker Explosion Incident, and even went as far as promising cash gifts to families in the name of Femi Otedola. This prompted Femi Otedola to post a press release about the action and his further suspension of tweeting activities.

Woman Shocked After Marrying Okada Rider Who Posed As Military Officer In Lagos (Photo)

A motorcycle rider popularly known as Okada rider, Mr. Uche Godwin, has been arrested for impersonation in Lagos after he posed as a military officer, fooled a young lady, Amaka, impregnated and married her, PM Express has reported.

Amaka was said to have moved into his house as wife but all the while did not know that he was a motorcycle rider as he had lied to her that he was an army officer. But the scam was exposed after Godwin was arrested along Ajao Estate wearing military uniform.

He was accosted by police officers on surveillance who asked for proper identification as he had claimed that he was an army officer. He was unable to provide a means of identification and was taken to the Ajao Police Division. The police then asked him to contact the military authorities to confirm his claims.

At that point, he then confessed that he was not an army officer. He pleaded with them not to tell his wife that he was a fake army officer.

It was gathered that Amaka was invited to the police station and asked what her husband’s job was. She said that he was an army officer and informed the police that he had military uniforms and went to work every morning with his motorcycle.

The following was the conversation between Amaka and Godwin at the police station:

Amaka: Darling! What happened?

Godwin: The police arrested me in the morning when I was going to work

Amaka: What was the offence they said you committed?

Godwin: They said I was wearing a military uniform and claimed to be one.

Amaka: Yes, what was wrong with that? Did you not introduce yourself and show them your ID card as an officer?

Godwin: I did, but they took me to the station for investigation and asked me to contact my Commander.

Amaka: Yes, call your commander and inform him so that they will release you to go to work.

Godwin: I have no Commander that I will call

Amaka: what! Are you not an army officer?

Godwin: Yes, I ride Okada, please forgive me. I will explain everything to you later. Find a way to get me released and if I come out we will sort out the whole thing.

P.M.Express confirmed that at that point Amaka who was heavily pregnant broke down in tears and told the police that Godwin had lied to her that he was an army officer. She got married to him on that premise only to discover at the police station that he was an Okada rider. Amaka left the police station in anger and frustration.

Godwin was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for impersonation and using army uniform to deceive members of the public.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale did not oppose the bail condition. Thus the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Teluwo granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.The matter was adjourned till 18th July, 2018.

Lagos tanker explosion: My son had premonition of incident – Corn seller

Thursday 28th June 2018 was a normal day heading to the weekend as any Lagosian would look forward to, but the tragic events which took place on that fateful day would change the life of some Lagos residents and indeed Nigerians forever.

A roasted-corn seller simply identified as Mama Favour, described the situation as very horrible and that she had yet to recover from the shock, despite the fact that it happened about two days ago.

“I was at my stand roasting corn and hoping to finish all the fresh corn that I brought from the market on that Thursday morning,” she said.

Mama favour told PUNCH correspondents that the incident had spiritual undertones.

She said her son who was with her on Thursday had the premonition that there was going to be an evil occurrence about ten minutes before the tanker fire explosion.

She said, “My son came with me to the scene on Thursday and he told me that he was feeling strange. He said his body was shaking and that his head was ‘getting bigger”.

“I didn’t even pay attention to it until he said that he felt it was a bad omen. As he was telling me, my eyes were on my corn and the umbrella was obstructing me. Over the weekend, Lolo 1, popular Wazobia FM OAP and Actress was blasted by critics after she shared a picture of herself rocking a sexy outfit.

Most people felt her clothes were too appealing for a woman who has had 4 children.

According to her top commenters, she stepped out as if she was desperate to hijack the men of other women.

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Lolo maintained that she wasn’t bothered about the comments.

Speaking through her manager, Godwin Omadibi, she said ;

“The truth is that she is not bothered about the comments that trailed the picture. For the people that tried to body-shame her, good luck to them. She just finished shooting her Yoruba movie. And she has also been working on some English movies. There is a lot of work to be done; so, she is not bothered about hateful comments because a lot of people also admired her. These are perilous times in the Hip-Hop World as young and promising rappers are being gunned down unruly.

Just as young rappers Jimmy Wopo and XXXTentacion were laid to rest, another rapper has been shot dead.

21-year old Canadian rapper, Smoke Dawg, who was making a huge name for himself representing Toronto was shot and killed in another senseless shooting making him the latest rapper to become a victim of gun violence.

According to reports, three people were shot in the area of Queen Street West and Peter Street, in Toronto’s Entertainment District, shortly before 8:00 p.m. Police said the suspects may have fled in a black SUV or a white car. Two male victims and one female were transported to a local hospital in serious to critical condition; one of the male victims were subsequently pronounced dead.

Associates of Smoke Dawg confirmed on social media that he was the deceased victim. Smoke Dawg first gained notoriety for his role on the street anthem “Still” and a remix of French Montana’s “Trap House”.

In 2016, he collaborated with Skepta on “Overseas” and last year, he was a opening act on Drake’s Boy Meets World European tour. Just this week he dropped a new song called “Fountain Freestyle” to preview his debut full-length project, Struggle Before Glory, which was slated for release later this year/

A young Nigerian woman, Jasmine Precious John has reportedly lost her life in a most sad manner after being stabbed during a robbery attempt by two criminals.

The graduate of Kaduna State University, KASU but based in Abuja was killed after the two armed robbers approached and tried to snatch her phone.

When she refused, the robbers stabbed her in the chest before fleeing the scene with her phone.

Lamenting over the sad incident on Facebook, a friend of the dead woman wrote:

“She closed from the shop in the evening yesterday, walked to the road side to board a bike home, little did she know that yesterday was her last day.

Two boys, real sons of belial, approached her and asked her to surrender her phone. For asking “why”?, she was stabbed with a knife on the chest. She slumped there and the two emissaries of satan dispossessed her of the phone and ran away.

May they never know peace until they repent!

Nollywood actress, Keira Hewatch has revealed in an interview with Sunday Punch how her resemblance with Mercy Johnson has brought her blessings but also exposed her to derogatory comments from people.

Initially, I didn’t enjoy the support of my parents because they are religious people and they believed that the industry was corrupt and immoral.

They felt it was not a place for a Christian lady to be in. I understood their point of view but I had to do what I had always wanted to do.

I respect and love my parents but I also have to take charge of my life. Eventually, they came to see that and they have been very supportive of my career.

While speaking on her moment of breakthrough in the Industry, Keira Hewatch said:

I became well-known after I featured in the movie, Two Brides and a Baby, but I have done a few films that have gone straight to online television. Other movies I have starred in include In the Name of Trust, Murder at Prime Suites, Dinner, Lekki Housewives and Fifty, among others.

How her resemblance with Mercy Johnson has helped her career:

I used to get insulted for looking like Mercy Johnson. The last time I got insulted was when I starred in the movie, Two Brides and a Baby.

Since that time, I have not experienced such. Back then, it made me sad because I was being insulted based on something I did not understand.
