Yesterday, Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered defeat in the hands of Argentina which led to the end of Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup dream.
Controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze has reacted to this loss, saying if only Super Eagles had practiced more, and not rely on annointing and prayers, they’d have performed better.
He said this using viral pictures of Senior Pastor of House on The Rock who was seen praying and anointing the Super Eagles Jersey before the start of the World Cup.

If only we had practiced more…. – When preparedness meets opportunity, no matter the anointing or prayers, winning is difficult! – Disappearing post. #ARGNGA #NGAARG
The whole of Nigeria was let down when Super Eagles lost to Argentina 2-1 in an intense match up last night.
With the game tied at 1-1, Nigeria players surrounded the referee when it appeared that Marcos Rojo handballed the ball in his own penalty area in the second half of the clash. The match official used VAR, but decided against awarding the spot-kick, much to the dismay of Nigerians.
Super Eagles might have had a possible win if they were awarded the penalty. Nigerians felt they were robbed by the Turkish referee, Cuneyt Cakir.
Cuneyt Cakir.
Rojo later sent Argentina through with a late goal to make the score 2-1, but Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel feels his team were hard done by.
“I don’t understand how that wasn’t a penalty, for me it was a clear handball,” he said, according to FourFourTwo.
“It was a clear penalty. Maybe the referee has given the first penalty and doesn’t want to give a second one.
“But a penalty is a penalty. He (the referee) looked at the VAR, (we asked him) did the ball hit the hand? He said ‘yes’, but why it’s not a penalty? I don’t understand.”
Nigerians worldwide however felt cheated and they stormed social media to express their anger and lucky enough, they were able to fish out the Instagram account of Cakir, where they have since been dropping several insulting and derogatory comments.
The Turkish referee’s Instagram page has since garnered over 20,000 comments from angry Nigerians. Some even went as far as wishing death upon him and raining curses on his children.
One angry user wrote; “Useless son of a b*tch how could you decide not to give the penalty even your VAR team knew it was a penalty all you do is to say ball to hand May Allah in his mercy punish you, and Judge your accordingly ,your fellow Turkish citizen will pay for this, the only way they is if they are not on dating sites, go rot in hell”
Another had this to say; “God will punish you …Heaven will reject your soul..even the devil will see you coming and he will close his gate for what you did …useless fool”
See some screenshots below:
Iran were awarded a penalty during a meeting with Portugal on Monday after Sardar Azmoun nodded the ball onto the arm of Cedric.
Technology was also used in that incident, but Nigeria missed out on getting a favourable call 24 hours later.
Mikel, as captain of his country, led the discussion with referee Cuneyt Cakir and, despite appearing to have been informed that the ball had struck Rojo’s head first, the former Chelsea midfielder claims to have received no suitable explanation as to why a spot kick was not given.
But video replays suggested that there was no intent from Rojo to move his arm anywhere near the ball, as he was looking in a different direction when he headed it sideways. It thus appeared unintentional as Rojo headed the ball inadvertently down onto his arm.
While Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr also believed the penalty should have been awarded, he was more understanding of Cakir’s position.
“I believe it was a hand,” he said. “I didn’t see the video. It is difficult for a referee to make a good interpretation.”
Argentina will go up against France in the Round of 16 on Saturday afternoon, while Nigeria were sent home.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Command in Adamawa says some youth in the state now utilize human urine to intoxicate themselves.
The state commander of agency made this known Tuesday in Yola in his speech to mark the 2018 UN International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Kibo said other new items abused include dry pawpaw leaves, dry plantain leaves, burnt tyres, as well as a solution made from tom tom sweet and lacasera drink, Guardian reports.
“It is important for parents to know and pay attention to the recently discovered substances of abuse like dry paw paw leaves, tom tom in lacasera drink, 10 days old human urine, methylated, spirit in coke drink, dry plantain leaves, burnt tyres among others,” he said.
While describing drug abuse as a rampaging fire that does not discriminate, Kibo called for collaborative effort to create a drug free society.
“For the drug war to be successful, the supply and demand reduction must go hand in hand.
“To that effect, from January to date, the Adamawa command has seized 2,742.358 kg of assorted illicit drugs,” he said.
Kibo said the seized drugs included cannabis sativa, tramadol tablets, cough syrup with codeine, diazepam tablets, exol-5, pentozocine injection and codeine tablets.
He also said that a total of 67 suspected drug dealers were arrested within the period under review out of which 26 were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms.
In areas of counseling and rehabilitation, Kibo said 20 drug addicts were counseled and rehabilitated within the year.
He listed lack of operational vehicle, inadequate staff, poor funding and hostilities by some communities as the major challenges facing the agency in the state.

Wife of Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo has slammed former Nigerian captain, Jay Jay Okocha for expressing his disappointment at Super Eagles’ performance in Super Eagles’ loss to Argentina yesterday.
“I am a bit disappointed with Omeruo, he would have seen the run of Messi and maybe take a step or two to be able to cut that ball off.” Okocha said during his analysis of the game on SuperSport.
Reacting to the comment by Jay Jay Okocha, Chioma, who tied the knot with her husband Kenneth Omeruo last month, slammed the Nigerian football legend by calling him a mad man.
Nigerians have come for the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Twitter over his tweet about the Nigeria vs. Argentina match yesterday.
Osinbajo had earlier taken to social media to wish the Super Eagles luck in their match against Argentina, just before the start of the match.
See his tweet below:
Today in Ibadan, someone asked me my thoughts on the Nigeria vs Argentina game.
My response was simple.
By God’s grace, victory will be ours but no matter the outcome, we are proud of these young men and what they represent to us as a nation. #TheNaijaSpiritpic.twitter.com/G43WPhfNpg
However, the Vice President’s tweet did not meet a lot Nigerians on Twitter well, as many of them were of the opinion that it was a wrong time for the VP to be talking about football considering how many Nigerians have died in the last 72 hours in Nigeria.
See how many Nigerians reacted:
“People will still be unhappy no matter the outcome because of this senseless killing acros the nation. #justice for plateau”
Another person claimed he has no conscience:
“Leaders without conscience. You should be mourning people that died in plateau, not talking about football. Have a rethink”
And this:
“Blood shed is the order of the day in your country and you are just feeling unconcerned because none of your people is involve . The northern christians are being slaughtered on daily basis and our christian VP is talking about match. What a shame”

Football Veteran and former Super Eagles Captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has admitted that the Super Eagles of Nigeria lost to Argentina in their final World Cup group game due to the ‘limited experience’.
He also blamed striker Odion Ighalo for failing to utilize chances.
Argentina made it through to the Round of 16 after Lionel Messi scored his first goal at the tournament to give the two-time world champions the lead in the 13th minute.
Much of the focus was on Messi, who brilliantly opened the scoring as Argentina dominated early on before the flaws apparent throughout a stumbling campaign again came to the fore.
All eyes on Messi.
Victor Moses restored parity for the Super Eagles from the spot but Marcos Rojo scored a stunning late winner three minutes from time to send Argentina to the next round.
Okocha speaking on Nigeria’s peformance said, “Uzoho kept us in the game with the saves he made in the second half. We panicked in the first half.
“If you want to be a bit harsh. We were not clear to keep more players in attack. We were limited in terms of experience.
“It was a gift from Mascherano but then I thought we started the second half better. We got ourselves in better places. It was a fantastic penalty from Moses but I think we should have put them under more pressure.”
Victor Moses delivers the equalizer for the Super Eagles.
On Ighalo’s miss, Okocha said, “It was a glorious chance, the ball sat down well for him. If I was Ighalo I would try to force a save from the goalkeeper. If you don’t hit the target you don’t get your job done.”
On Argentina second goal, he noted, “Poor defending. Moses reacted late. I have seen him deal with that at Chelsea. I can’t fault the effort of the players, they gave their best.
“It was going to be tough for us and it lived up to that and it went to the last three minutes, but I think we have to look at the bigger picture. Most of these players it was the first time.
“For the manager, he did well. It’s about continuity. We don’t have to point fingers at anyone.”
Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona appeared to need help to walk after watching his national team dramatically beat Nigeria to survive in the World Cup.
Argentine media said Maradona was treated for low blood pressure in the stadium and was able to leave normally shortly afterwards.
In the video posted by Fernando Schwartz, a well-known sports journalist in Mexico, a man can be seen helping Maradona to stay on his feet as he was led away from his seat overlooking the pitch and into an adjacent room.
A photograph also posted on Twitter appeared to show two medical staff attending to Maradona.
Earlier, he had been captured by television cameras flicking his middle fingers toward the crowd and celebrating wildly as Argentina beat Nigeria 2-1 with the winner coming minutes before the South Americans would have been eliminated from the finals.
The Argentine website of sports broadcaster ESPN said Maradona was taken to hospital.
Former Minster of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to Nigeria’s exit from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He blamed the Turkish referee that handled the game and also lack of fans’s support for the players at the stadium for the loss.
Messi scored his first goal at this year’s tournament for Argentina in the 13th minute into the first half.
Victor Moses slotted in a calm penalty early in the second half but Rojo’s 86th minute volley broke the Eagles’ wings and sent them crashing.
The Former Minister in reacting to the defeat commended the players and called on Nigerians to also remember the over 100 people that were killed in Plateau State over the weekend by Fulani herders.
He tweeted:
“Our boys fought gallantly in Russia tonight and almost won though the stadium was filled with Argentinians and the Turkish referee worked against us.“
“We almost had it in the bag but God suddenly remembered that 200 people were just slaughtered in Jos and we didn’t give a damn.”
during the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup match between Croatia v Nigeria on the 16th June 2018 at Kaliningrad Stadium,Russia
Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, was furiously unimpressed following their 2-1 defeat to Argentina on Tuesday night.
Lionel Messi opened scoring for the South American side, before Victor Moses levelled in the second half.
However, Marcos Rojo volleyed in a late winner, to send the Albiceleste through.
Mikel Obi however feels Nigeria should have had another penalty, after Rojo seemed to have handled the ball in the area.
“Clear handball, clear penalty. It was open. For me a penalty is a penalty. We’ve seen it again and it’s still a penalty,” the Tianjin TEDA midfielder told reporters in the mixed zone.
Nigerians have reacted to the Super Eagles’ 2 – 1 loss to Argentina on different social media platforms in the on-going FIFA World Cup 2018.
Argentine Captain, Lionel Messi, had put his side ahead with a 14 minutes strike.
But, Victor Moses leveled up for the Eagles through a penalty kick six minutes into the second half.
However, Rojo gave the South Americans their first win of the tournament with a clinical finish less than 10 mins to the final whistle.
In reaction, some Nigerians expressed sadness over the outcome of the game, but a good number of citizens were either indifferent or positive in spite of the Super Eagles’ exit from the tournament.
Here are some reactions on social media:
@festus_kei: “A great performance by the SuperEagles. We fought a good fight. However, you win some, you lose some. Raise your heads you…”

Nigeria is out of the 2018 World Cup, after losing 2-1 to Argentina on Tuesday night in Saint Petersburg.
The Super Eagles needed to avoid defeat to qualify for the round of 16, but were unable to hold on at 1-1, after Victor Moses’ penalty cancelled out Lionel Messi’s opener.
The most painful part of the match was when Odion Ighodalo had two golden opportunities with the score at 1-1, before Marcos Rojo sealed victory for Argentina.
Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, who reportedly arrived Russia today to support her star husband – has reacted to Argentina’s victory over Nigeria.
The 30-year-old took to her Instagram page few minutes ago to share a picture of her husband celebrating after opening the first goal of the match as she hailed him in Spanish.
She wrote; VAAAAAMOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSS MI AMOOOOOORRRRR!!!!!
It’s been a miserable tournament thus far for the Barcelona superstar, as his missed penalty in the opening game against Iceland was followed by his side’s capitulation against Croatia in a 3-0 defeat.
Antonella Roccuzzo, hasn’t been in Russia until today as she explained why she hadn’t flown out sooner to support her husband at the world cup tournament.
She said; “I did not go because I have very young children and because it was scheduled like this,”. “Moreover, I want to enjoy some time with my family who I am not going to see until December.”
With Nigeria bound for a last-16 spot, Argentina defender Marcos Rojo popped up with a spectacular late goal to help La Albiceleste to a 2-1 victory, thus, seeing them progress at the expense of the Super Eagles.
A non-governmental organization identified as Come Alive Initiative raised an alarm over the use of Indian Hemp as gift items during public functions in Onitsha.
According to reports from Punch Metro, the alarm was raised on Tuesday.
The organisation alleged that Indian hemp is sometimes served at burial ceremonies and other private functions to willing guests.
The national coordinator of the CAI, Mr. Victor Enwezor, raised the concerns during a symposium on drug abuse in Onitsha to mark this year’s International Drug Day, themed, “Drug/Substance Abuse: Its effects on the socio-economic development of communities.”
Enwezor said that drug abuses had posed socio-economic challenges to the development of Onitsha.
He said, ”If you come to some burial ceremonies or other events here in Onitsha, you will see cannabis wrapped like pills and served in tray with lighters.
“These things are in the open and nobody seems to want to talk about it.
“We need to begin to expose some of these things, unless we want to continue to live in illusion.”
Enwezor said the purpose of CAI was to end the menace in Onitsha and environs.
While urging government to resist any temptation to legalise hard drugs, Enwezor said security institutions and the judiciary should be equipped and funded to tackle what he called “inducement of officials by drug barons.”
He said that CAI, in the past three years, had rehabilitated 28 victims of drug abuse, while 11 others were undergoing treatment.
Speaking, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, said drug abuse and cultism were the major causes of crime in the area and called on parents and guardians to monitor their children.
Achebe, who hailed CAI for its efforts in rehabilitating drug victims, called for the sustenance of the awareness.
In his speech, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, warned youths to avoid drug offences or face the wrath of the law.
A young Somali man who married two women on the same night has granted an interview to the BBC asking men to do the same thing.
Bashir Mohamed said he courted both women for about eight months and convinced them to marry him.
“I used to bring them together to socialise with me at my home,” he told BBC Somali.
“I used to say openly to both of them that I love them. They were satisfied,” he added.
The advantage of marrying both at the same time was that they would not get “jealous” later, and would know from the beginning that they were in a polygamous marriage, Mr Mohamed said.
He had taken two wives because he wanted “many children”.
“I will encourage other men to do it if they can afford it,” Mr Mohamed said.
Polygamy is allowed in Somali culture, but it is unusual to marry two women at the same time, BBC Somali’s Mohamed Mohamed says.
It has happened a few times in the last few years, suggesting that a new trend may be starting, he adds.
Mr Mohamed married the two women, Iqra and Nimo, in Sinai village in the breakaway state of Somaliland on 22 June, the private Somaliland Informer news site reported soon after their wedding.

Super Eagles hero, Ahmed Musa is basking in confidence to score again for Nigeria ahead of tonight’s crunch clash against Argentina at the ongoing World Cup in Russia.
Super Eagles star, Ahmed Musa became ‘Lionel Musa’ on social media in Argentina last Friday after his two goals against Iceland which not only put Nigerians back on course for a last 16 place, but also restored the World Cup hopes of the South Americans, Reuters reports.
Musa has warned his new-found hero status in Argentina is likely to end abruptly on Tuesday night when the two countries meet in a decisive Group D game in St. Petersburg.
“Whenever I play against Argentina, or whenever (Lionel) Messi is playing against me, I score.
“Four years ago, in Brazil when Messi was playing against me, I scored two goals,” said Musa, referring to the 3-2 win for Argentina over Nigeria in a group game in Porto Alegre where Messi also netted twice.
“When I transferred to Leicester City and we played against Barcelona and Messi was in the pitch too, I scored another two goals, so I think in the next game anything can happen. Possibly, I’m going to score another two goals.”
Musa’s brace for Leicester came in a pre-season friendly in Stockholm shortly after he had signed for the then English champions from CSKA Moscow in 2016.
The 25-year-old is now the first Nigerian to score at different World Cups and with four goals the country’s all-time record scorer in the finals.
“I’m very good at breaking records and I’m happy now to be the top scorer at the World Cup for Nigeria. It’s not easy but I have to thank my coach for his support because if he didn’t believe in me he wouldn’t put me in the pitch.”
Musa was restored to the line-up after Nigeria’s opening Group D loss to Croatia and repaid the faith with two fine individual strikes.
It ensured Nigeria, with three points, went second in Group D, behind Croatia who have already qualified after successive victories, but ahead of Argentina and Iceland, both on one.
Nigeria’s success also ensured a renewed window of opportunity for Argentina, who were hammered 3-0 by Croatia in Nizhny Novgorod on Thursday, but now have a realistic chance to qualify if they beat the Africans on Tuesday.
“We know the importance of the last game, it’s do-or-die,” added Musa. “We have to win, we can’t afford to lose. By the 95th minute we will know who carries the day and, by the grace of God, we are going to work very hard.”

God help us all ?
Meanwhile, Argentina fans who are in Russia to support their nation at the ongoing world cup have described Nigerian forward, Ahmed Musa as a big threat to their continuous stay at the mundial.
Some of the Argentines in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Moscow, the Russia capital, said the Super Eagles were in better state of mind going into the match.
To Santiago Lautaro, the Super Eagles are more of a team than the Argentines.
“We only have only individual talents but not a team.
“Ahmed Musa is as dangerous as Lionel Messi but you know he has done better than the Barcelona star in Russia 2018,” Lautaro said.
Matias Franco told NAN that Musa had good statistics against his country but wished the CSKA Moskva player would not have a good day when the Super Eagles filed out against them.
“Our performance has not been good in this competition but it is not over yet.
“I hope we can have a better performance against Nigeria on Tuesday because it will be sad to leave the World Cup now.
“Our defenders must be weary of Musa’s threat, he is a good player and you remember he scored two goals against us the last time we met,” Franco said.
Augustin Nicolas, believes that his country will beat Nigeria in the last group game on Tuesday in St. Petersburg because they are the better side.
Nicolas boasted that the Argentines would get themselves better in the game against Nigeria even though he admitted that the Super Eagles are a better side.
Bishop David Oyedepo has reacted to the killing of over 86 people in Plateau state where about 11 villages where attacked by Fulani herdsmen.
He placed a heavy curse on those behind the attacks while speaking during the Covenant Hours of Prayer.
He was quoted as saying:
“One of the leaders in Plateau State spoke yesterday that since the crisis started, 52 villages were now desolate.
“For everyone behind this crisis, may they and their generations be destroyed. May their generations perish. May they never be remembered.
“Anyone who has made people’s land and families desolate, we declare them desolate today.
“Let the arrow of God locate them. Let it locate their sponsors. Let it locate all the perpetrators. Let it locate anyone backing them in government from today.”

A woman identified as Mrs. Grace Williams shared her testimony yesterday, at Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) branch in Jimeta, Adamawa State.
Read the testimony as shared on the official Facebook page of LFC Yola:
Dead Baby Bounced Back to Life My daughter returned from school on Thursday 21st June, 2018 safe and sound with no traces of ailment whatsoever. After taking her lunch she decided to sleep, but after long hours of sleep I went to check on her and discovered that she was lifeless.
I quickly raised alarm but all efforts were to no avail. Her body became stiff and cold. All hope was lost. I quickly rushed the baby to the church amidst crying and wailing with the slogan “Operation 615 is blessing and not sorrow”.
The Pastor collected the baby from me and laid her on the altar praying. While the prayer was going on the Resident Pastor kept saying “Jesus the God of my father Bishop Oyedepo do it again”. Miraculously, I suddenly saw my baby moving her body and crying.”
I have come to return all the glory to the God of my father Bishop Oyedepo.
