Russia has denied Nigeria’s football fans the opportunity to bring live chickens into the stadium when the Super Eagles are playing.
As reported by Russia’s Interfax.ru, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad region, Andrei Ermak told reporters ;
“Our information center MCH-2018 receives a lot of various questions: fans from Nigeria asked if it’s possible to go to the stadium with a chicken, it’s their symbol, the citizens are sick with them at all matches, we told them that to pass a live chicken, in any case, it is impossible “.
At the same time, he noted that if the Nigerians are rooting for their team in other places, “we will, of course, advise them where the chicken can be bought.”
We are ready to satisfy the most eccentric inquiries,” the regional minister added.

Controversial Ghanaian pastor and founder of the International Godsway Church, Daniel Obinim, has said in an interview that tithe is too small for him.

These are the first pictures of a British tourist who died along with her Australian boyfriend when they plunged off a 90ft beach wall while taking a selfie.
Identified as Louise Benson, 37, and her Australian boyfriend, Michael Kearns, 33, lived in Perth, Australia, and were on a five-month trip when they died on Tuesday morning.

Rui Pereira da Terra, head of the local rescue force, said:
‘Everything seems to indicate that the fall happened when they were probably trying to take a selfie. ‘It seems they dropped their mobile phone and fell down while leaning over to retrieve it.
‘Since we found a mobile phone on the wall, everything suggests the victims might have been taking a selfie, when they allowed the phone to fall, leaned to grab it and fell.’

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi has revealed that he sold groundnut and washed windscreens in Lagos before he became a professional footballer.
The 21-year-old has been a top performer for Leicester City in the Premier League and he is set to feature for the Super Eagles at the Fifa 2018 world cup.
In an interview with ESPN, Ndidi revealed that his path to success was not an easy one as he had to go through difficult jobs for sustenance in Lagos.
He said, “Sometime ago, I was a jack of all trade while my mum was selling, I’ll go and hawk for her. I sold different types of fruits and not even only fruit; I sold peppers, tomatoes, I sold groundnuts. Sometimes, they call me ‘omo elepa’. That is groundnut boy.
“And then sometimes, when I finish selling, I go to do a quick one for myself. I go for wiping glass of cars, cleaning and If I see I’m not making money, I can quickly go to buy pure water and start selling there.
Asides the selling of foodstuffs Ndidi did other jobs while hawking in traffic and revealed that it was to purchase a new pair of boots.
He said, “My best, I would say was making N3000. I finished selling so quick. I went to do the wiping thing for myself, just four different things I did in a day.
“I was so happy going home because I was saving to buy my football shoes, I was really doing so many things but it was okay,”

US prosecutors have launched a probe to determine whether film star Sylvester Stallone should be charged in connection with a sexual assault reported last year.
“A case was presented today by the Santa Monica Police Department regarding Sylvester Stallone,” Greg Risling, a spokesman at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, told AFP.
“It is under review by our sex crime task force.”
The case involves a woman who reported last November that the 71-year-old actor, best known for his roles in the “Rocky” and “Rambo” movies, had assaulted her in 1990.
Risling declined to provide more details about the alleged assault or to clarify whether California’s 10-year statute of limitations applies in the case.
Police in Santa Monica and Stallone’s attorney, Martin Singer, could also not be reached for comment.
The allegation against the star comes in the wake of the #MeToo movement that has focused attention on sexual harassment in Hollywood and beyond.
Singer in December told US media when the allegation first surfaced that his client “categorically disputes the claim and it is apparent that the woman filed the report to get a media outlet to publish the story.”
He acknowledged that Stallone had a relationship with the alleged victim while shooting a movie in Israel in 1987 while he was single.
The attorney said at the time that he planned to submit a claim against the woman for filing a false police report.

Emmanuel Okorie, a driver who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s 15-year-old sister, has denied the allegation levelled against him by Lagos State Government.
The defendant, who is standing trial on a count charge before a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere yesterday, told the court that he did not defile the teenager.
Okorie, who was testifying before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye on trial-within-trial, said:
“I put my hand in her vagina and when I noticed that she was a virgin, I let her go. I didn’t sleep with her, because I didn’t want to injure her.”.
He said the incident occurred at his elder sister’s house in Ejigbo area of Lagos. The defendant, who was led in trial-within-trial by his counsel, Mr. Worer Obuagbaka, also said that he neither made any confessional statement nor told his investigative police officer, IPO, that he had sex with the victim.
Emmanuel said :
“This statement you are seeing was not written by me. I was not given any paper to write. I was inside the cell when a man nicked named Sean Paul came and brought me out to where the IPO was. “
The next thing he did was to slap me and then I saw Inspector Amina Adeoye with an envelope and I was asked to sign.
“When I asked to read the statement, Sean Paul hit me on my forehead and I started bleeding. I did not read the statement, I signed under duress.”
Prosecutor Earlier, Lagos State prosecutor, Mr. Akin George, had called the third prosecution witness, Inspector Amina Adeoye, who narrated how she recorded the defendant’s statement. She said:
“On December 1, 2015, a case of defilement was transferred from Ejigbo Police Station to State Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department SCIID, Panti, Yaba, and the victim that was defiled was 15 years old then.
“After the case was transferred, I took the statement of the victim. Thereafter, I cautioned the defendant in English Language, then recorded his statement. “.
After the defendant’s statement had been taken, we had to refer the victim to Mirabel Centre at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, where she was treated and the report was sent to our office.”
She also told the court that she read the statement Okorie made at Ejigbo, where he denied committing the offence, adding that she did not force him to sign the statement.
According to her, “he wrote the statement that the girl and her friend were actually coming back from school when the incident occurred.”

Workers in Russia are being taught how to smile in a bid to be more welcoming to tourists during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off today.
According to the BBC, Russians do not smile as much as other Europeans. An article in The Atlantic attempts to explain why when it loosely translates a Russian proverb: “Laughing for no reason is a sign of stupidity.”
However, there’s now a reason to smile as Russian news agency Tass claims that 1.5 million foreign tourists are expected in Russia during the World Cup. To prepare for all the tourists, workers in key companies like FIFA, Russian Railways, and Moscow Metro are all undergoing unique training.
The BBC says the world governing body for football and the two Russian transport firms are teaching staff how to smile.

A 35-year-old woman June Wanza Mulupi, died of sepsis after a botched breast augmentation surgery in Karen, Kenya.
The mother of three died last week at Nairobi Hospital where she was rushed after developing complications from a breast enlargement surgery.
The procedure was carried out by an unidentified surgeon in his office at Galleria Mall last week. Wanza was discharged but developed severe abdominal pain that worsened.
She had gone to Nairobi Hospital for review on Wednesday and was immediately admitted to the High Dependency Unit, then the ICU.
Doctors realised that her intestines had been cut or punctured in the first surgery, apparently a fat transfer augmentation. Her blood pressure was dangerously low.
“Because her intestines were cut, all the waste was seeping out and spreading inside the stomach. That caused an infection called sepsis. Doctors battled to save her life on Friday but she died from the infection,” a family member told the Star on Tuesday.
Wanza is to be buried on Saturday. The family requested time to grieve before they divulge more information.
“We are having the postmortem tomorrow [today]. Allow us to finish that process,” they said through lawyer Jared Orare.
Wanza’s intestine had been severed, and waste had spilled into her abdominal cavity — the cause of the acute pains.
She developed sepsis, an infection that takes effect when the body’s immune system releases chemicals into the bloodstream to fight an infection.
A team of doctors, led by Prof Stanley Khainga, frantically attended to Wanza. Speaking to The Star yesterday, Dr. Khainga was called in as a corrective surgeon after Wanza was admitted to Nairobi Hospital.
The surgeon said the patient had also developed gas gangrene, likely from the incisions made during the surgery ;
“It was gas gangrene which is an infection of soft tissues from bacteria on the skin. I was just called in to control that. When gas gangrene gets under the skin, it kills blood supply and eats the fat and whatever remains. If you don’t remove the dead skin then it spreads all over and you can’t control it,” he said.
“The wounds through which the surgery is done are the ones that now become the portals of entry of the bacteria. For her, it was an infection that was too fast. I was just intervening to control that and correct the shock and so on. I was in Nairobi Hospital when they called me. She was a referral. As a consultant, I was trying to sort out the problem.”

A young Nigerian lady identified as Cynthia Onyinye Okafor has exposed a Pastor on Facebook who insulted her for refusing gto date him.
The lady alleged that the man rained curses on her.
The young lady identified the pastor as Lucky Emmanuel.
According to her, the pastor is also dating one of her friends who had already confided in her about her relationship with the pastor.

A woman was left with an eyeliner pencil lodged in her eye after the taxi she was travelling in slammed into a truck while she was putting on her make-up.
The woman, who is reportedly in her 20s, was sitting in the back of the cab in a slow-moving traffic jam in Bangkok, Thailand, on the way to see her friends.
While in traffic, she began applying eyeliner but the cab driver then crashed into a pick-up truck in front, jolting the woman forward. At this, she hit the seat in front, accidentally thrusting the pencil into her left eye.
The good news is that the stick missed the vital parts of her eye and her sight will be unaffected, according to medics who treated her.
Paramedic Thanabodee Sabbodi said while the crash was minor the ‘freak accident’ had caused half of the pencil to plunge into the eye socket of the young woman, who has not been identified.
He said: ‘The crash happened at 5.20pm in Din Daeng area of Bangkok while the lady was putting on make-up on her way out for the evening.
‘We received a call and there was one injured female with an eyebrow pencil inserted into her left eye.
‘She was in a lot of pain when we came but she could still talk to us and explain what happened. There was not a lot of blood but she had a small nose bleed.’
The girl was still conscious and taken to the Rajavithi Hospital where medics removed the pencil without any lasting injuries.

Tragedy was averted on the Third Mainland Bridge in the early hours of Wednesday, June 13th 2018.
24 passengers in a commercial bus were saved this morning after the bus almost plunged into the Lagos lagoon under the third mainland bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus conveying 24 persons including the driver and conductor, was heading towards Lagos Island when it somersaulted on the Third Mainland Bridge but was prevented from plunging into the Lagos Lagoon by the crash barrier on the side of the road.
Most of the passengers sustained varied degrees of injuries.
The victims have been evacuated from the scene by men of the LASEMA response unit and are receiving medical attention at a state owned hospital.

Nollywood comic actor, Omotayo Amokade popularly known as Ijebuu shared a video online saying he narrowly escaped death at an unknown hotel after the air conditioning unit in his room caught fire.
