“My oga penetrates my anus at night, my madam beats me daily” — Maid tells Police

A 19-year-old has narrated to operatives of Lagos State Police Command how her ‘Madam’ assaults her daily, while the husband sodomises her at night.

The Lagos-based couple is currently being investigated by the Police over physical and sexual abuse of the maid at their Aunty Toyin Street, Kodeibo Estate, Isheri-Oshun, Lagos.

The victim, Blessing Joseph, who has been working with the couple for six months, hails from Imo State. Vanguard gathered that throughout her stay with the couple, Blessing was subjected to different forms of physical abuse from her madam, Isioma, and sexual abuse from the madam’s husband, Chigozie Ezeafor.

It was gathered that whenever Isioma was away or asleep in the night, her husband sneaked into the victim’s room and raped her through her anus.

Victim’s story

Narrating her ordeal, the victim said she has suffered terribly in the hands of the couple, who delight in dehumanising her regularly.

She further revealed to the Police that her “Madam,” Isioma Ezeafor, beats her up at the slightest provocation, while her husband, Chigozie Ezeafor, sneaks up to her whenever his wife is away and has made several painful attempts to penetrate her anus.

However, trouble started when, on December 17, Isioma Ezeofor’s temper got the better part of her and she emptied a kettle of hot water on the maid, scalding her skin. Confirming the report, Superintendent Chike Oti, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, said the last attempt by Mr. Ezeofor to rape the victim brought the issue to light.

The couple is being interrogated at the Gender Section of Lagos State Police Command and will be charge to court at the end of the investigation. Operatives from the Gender Unit of the Police Command has have taken the victim for proper medical care.

“Child Marriage Is Our Religious Belief” – Nigerian Muslim Man Says.

A Nigerian Muslim guy, Usman Solo has said that it’s part of the Islamic beliefs that one should marry a child – Usman made this known while in reaction to Nigerian politician, Femi Fani-Kayode’s tweets, where he criticized the Sultan of Sokoto for not championing the fight against Child Marriage and paedophilia in the North.

FFK had criticized the Sultan of Sokoto for not channeling his fight for the Hijab story that has been on for a while now, towards that of curbing Child marriage in the north.

Usman, in reaction to this, said bluntly “Child marriage is our religious belief” and it has got everyone wondering where it’s said in the Quran that it’s okay to be a pedophile.

Just so you know btw, the Quran states specifically in the 6th verse of its 4th Chapter,

“And test the orphans [in your charge] until they reach a marriageable age; then, if you find them to be mature of mind/sound in judgment, hand over to them their possessions…” (Quran, 4:6)

It should be noted that in this context, Marriageable age is equated to sound judgment; an age in which a person can responsibly handle their possessions.

Though there’s the misconception about this verse,

And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women – if you doubt, then their (waiting) period is three months (relating to divorce), and [also for] those who did not menstruate. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. (Quran, 65:4)

BUT… The verse starts off by discussing the waiting period for women who have ceased to menstruate, in the case of a divorce. Therefore, it has laid the context of adult women who are of menstruating age. Obviously then, “those who did not menstruate” is from the context of adult women who are supposed to menstruate, but did not do so – This medical condition is called Amenorrhea where a woman does not have menstrual periods.

So it’s either Mr Usman Solo is ignorant of his proclaimed beliefs or he’s just some perverted pedophile who’s looking for a reason to justify his despicable notions.

“My Face is Burning” – Human Ken Doll who’s had over 60 plastic surgeries, shows off peeling face

Rodrigo Alves who is known worldwide as the Human Ken Doll, and recently revealed that his plans to remove his ribs had been scuppered as doctors feared his lungs would collapse, has once again, booked himself in for another procedure as he showed-off the results of a chemical peel.

Human Ken Dol – Before & After

The 34-year-old TV personality who was captured on camera as he stepped out in Marbella on Tuesday, was involved in a chemical peel involves applying an acid-containing lotion to the face, letting it soak through and then peeling off the old skin to reveal fresh new skin in its place.

While speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Rodrigo said: ‘It was fairly painful, and my face looks red now. It feels like burning! Here in Marbella is very sunny and I can’t go out for the next few days unless I have a lot of sun protection!

‘In 2018, I’m turning 35 and my quest has never been to look perfect but to look ageless. Due to the lights from the TV studios and the make-up, my skin has been looking rough, but this treatment will make my skin look finer and younger.’

The procedure involves donning a face cream that burns the skin as he explained: ‘I would never let myself go and no one will ever see any wrinkle on my face’

He added: ‘I would never let myself go and no one will ever see any wrinkle on my face. Some men think that only going to the gym and looking muscular is enough. I believe that men should also look after their faces with night cream and make-up just like I do. Taking pride in your appearance is loving yourself.’

Earlier this month Rodrigo revealed plans to have six ribs removed in what would be his landmark 60th cosmetic procedure. But he was left left frustrated after surgeons refused to perform the full procedure over fears it would compromise his lungs.

Instead, a top Hollywood surgeon will remove four floating ribs in a £28k procedure slated to take place next month to give the distinguished jet-setter, who has spent an estimated £400,000 on plastic surgeries, an ‘elegant and classic figure.’

The fashion-forward star said he was motivated to go under the knife once more so he would feel more confident in his couture blazers, and because he felt his hunky physique had become ‘shapeless and big’.

Despite his extensive catalogue of procedures, the socialite admitted to nerves ahead of the operation, which he says has been favoured by many celebs, but said he was looking forward to not ‘bursting out of his slim-fit blazers.’

He said: ‘It will be my surgery number 60 between countless procedures but I’m nervous yes because this is not a plastic surgery where skin or fat will be removed, we are talking about my floating ribs,

Video: Two Nigerian students sentenced to death for drugs trafficking in Malaysia

Two Nigerian college students Mustafa Azmir and Jude Nnamdi Achonye were on Wednesday December 20, handed the death sentence by a High Court in Shah Alam for trafficking 3.5 kilogrammes of methamphetamine.

Shah Alam High Court judge Datuk Abdul Halim Aman made the ruling after finding that the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against the accused, Azmir, 28, and Achonye, 30.

According to the criminal charge brought against them, Azmir and Achonye were accused of trafficking the drugs at an apartment in Petaling Jaya at 3.30pm on Sept 2, 2014 which is an offense under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The facts of the case stated that the accused, who studied at a private college in Kuala Lumpur, were arrested by police when they accepted several boxes containing the drug which was delivered by a courier company at the apartment.

Abdul Halim, in his ruling, said the court had studied testimonies from 13 prosecution witnesses and two defence witnesses, alongside 73 exhibits tendered during the trial.

“The defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt at the end of this case and presented no testimony that thoroughly refutes the prosecution,” he said.

“Besides that, there were also discrepancies in testimonies of the accused and their defence only amounted to denial without concrete evidence,” he said.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris appeared for the prosecution, while the accused were represented by lawyer Leonard Anselm Gomes.

Innoson Motors Boss rejects EFCC release, refuses to leave custody

Innoson Motors Boss rejects EFCC release

Innoson Motors boss, Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma has rejected EFCC release, and has refused to leave custody. According to a tweet from his company’s account, they say he wants to know the reason for his arrest.

Meanwhile, Find below Facts about the Whole GTBank and Innoson Saga;

Innoson, Efcc and the Gtb Loan; Facts behind the saga

Recently, the Innoson/GTBank story has gained so much media prominence, especially following the arrest of the Innonson chairman a few days ago by EFCC. Though the case is pending in court, Innoson has taken the battle to social media. There have been numerous sponsored social media campaigns against the Bank such as #BewareOfGTBank and #WhatIsWrongWithGTBank. The company has also gone Television, with its owner, Dr Innocent Chukwuma granting an interview to TVC, where he claimed he had obtained a judgement of N8bn against the bank. He added that the bank pleaded with him over their inability to pay, and that he graciously offered to accept shares of the bank as payment.

GTBank on their part has chosen to remain silent on the matter, perhaps trusting in the integrity of the legal system as against playing to the gallery. Many attempts by us to get the bank’s representatives to comment on the story has proven abortive. A staff of the bank who spoke under anonymity, stated “Irrespective of the issues we are facing with the company, Innoson remains a customer of the bank and we owe him a duty of confidentiality and to conduct ourselves in a responsible manner towards him”. This statement didn’t stop us from conducting our own investigations on the matter, and below are our findings, put in bullet points for your optimum understanding.

The obvious:

Innoson is, and still remains, a customer of GTBank.

What we discovered:

1. GTBank (in 2009) granted Innoson several credit facilities (i.e loans) totalling N2,400,000,000,00 (two billion, four hundred million Naira only), to part finance working capital requirements, import new motorcycles and motorcycle spare parts, agricultural spare parts and plastic manufacturing equipment (“Imported Goods”).

2. Under the loan terms agreed by Dr. Innocent Chukwuma on behalf of Innoson, proprietary interest in the Imported Goods was consigned exclusively in favour of the Bank. This means that the Bank was the exclusive owner of the Imported Goods. Accordingly, the original shipping documents (i.e. the Bills of Lading) were in the custody of the Bank, and have remained in the custody of the Bank at all times.

3. Because GTBank was the exclusive owner of the imported goods, ownership of the goods could only be transferred to Innoson (or any other third party) by the Bank. The condition in the agreement between the Bank and Innoson, for the release of the Imported Goods by the Bank to Innoson, was the payment of 25% of the value of each Letter of Credit transaction by Innoson.

What we learnt:

1. Innocent Chukwuma approached the Bank, on behalf of Innoson, requesting the release of the shipping documents without payment of the agreed+ 25% equity. The Bank declined his request as a result of Innoson’s failure to meet the agreed conditions.

2. It came to the Bank’s knowledge sometime in June, 2011 that the Imported Goods for which the Bank declined to release shipping documents to Innoson in view of its failure to meet the agreed conditions, had been fraudulently procured by Innoson.

3. The Bank discovered that Innoson, under the control of Dr. Innocent Chukwuma had forged the Bank’s endorsement on the bills of lading to the Shipping Line and fraudulently cleared the Imported Goods which were in the name of the Bank. The Imported Goods, being property of the Bank should not have been cleared from the Port without the original shipping documents being endorsed by the Bank in favour of Innoson, or any third party.

4. The signatures of 4 (four) staff of the Bank, to wit, Taofeek Olalere, Dan Attah, Bunmi Adeyemi and Amazu Amalachukwu, as well as the Bank’s stamp were forged on all the shipping documents used by Innoson to fraudulently clear goods at the port. The Bank did not at any time endorse or transfer the shipping documents to Innoson, as the originals of each of the relevant Bill of Lading remain in the Bank’s custody to this very day.

5. When the Bank reported the matter to the Nigeria Police, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma claimed the Bank released the shipping documents to him. Consequently, the Police commenced investigation into the Bank’s complaint, including a forensic examination of the disputed signatures, and established that the signatures of the Bank’s staff were forged, and the Imported Goods were fraudulently cleared from the Nigerian Ports Authority by Dr. Innocent Chukwuma and his accomplices.

What we heard from the Police:

1. Police investigations confirmed that Innoson and Dr. Innocent Chukwuma deliberately set out to defraud, steal from the Bank and convert the Imported Goods belonging to the Bank by deceptive means and through forgery and misrepresentation. The unlawful takeover of the Imported Goods, which served as the Bank’s collateral, left an indebtedness in excess of the sum of N1,654,481,895.04 (one billion, six hundred and fifty four million, four hundred and eighty one thousand, eight hundred and ninety five Naira, four Kobo) as at September 26, 2012.

2. Chief Innocent Chukwuma was arrested and interrogated by operatives of the EFCC, following which he agreed to make monthly payments into Innoson’s account until the full liquidation of Innoson’s indebtedness to the Bank. However, Innoson defaulted in making the agreed payments. Investigations by the Nigeria Police following a petition by the Bank in September 2013 also found Innoson and Chief Innocent Chukwuma culpable of the criminal allegations levied against them by the Bank, and Chief Innocent Chukwuma was accordingly charged to court by the Police.

3. The Police filed Charge No. FHC/L/565C/2015-Inspector General Of Police And Innoson Nigeria Limited; Innocent Chukwuma;Charles Chukwuma;Maximian Chukwura; Mitsui Osk Lines; Annajekwu Sunny for fraudulent clearance of goods, forgery, conversion, stealing and conspiracy presently pending before Faji J, at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi and adjourned to November 21, 2017 for arraignment/or hearing of motion for issuance of Bench Warrant.

What Innoson did:

1. Innoson approached the Bank for a reconciliation of his account and pleaded for a debt forgiveness. A reconciliation was carried out on the account – which had a debit balance of N1,654,481,895.04 as at December 31, 2011. In the spirit of amicable resolution and EFCC intervention, the Bank said it agreed to forego the sum of N559,374,072.09 which represented default charges that has accrued on the account and debited in line with the loan agreement between the customer and the Bank.

2. Based on this, the Bank decided to accept from the customer, the sum of N1,095,107,822.95 as full and final payment of the customer’s indebtedness to the Bank, provided that same shall be fully paid not later than (30) days from the date of the letter written to him

3. Surprisingly, Innoson commenced suit no:FHC/AWK/CS/2012 against the Bank at the Federal High Court, Awka stating the bank had debited its account with excess charges totalling N559,374,072.09 and obtained judgement in excess of N4.7Billion against the Bank. Again choosing to dishonour an agreement that was amicable reached between him and the Bank for a full and final settlement of N1,095,107,822.95 wherein the Bank graciously forgave him the sum of N559,374,072.09 which accrued on his account during the period which he abandoned his account.

4. To further stall the criminal proceedings against him, Chief Innocent Chukwuma and his company instituted suits at the Federal High Court, Abuja, as well as the Federal High Court, Awka in January 2014 against The Inspector General of Police, The Nigeria Police Force and Investigating Officer(s), seeking declaratory and injunctive reliefs, including orders restraining the Police from commencing criminal proceedings against Innoson and Chief Innocent Chukwuma.

Furthermore, in a bid to stall the Bank’s recovery steps, and distract the Bank from focusing on the criminal action, as well as civil actions filed for recovery of the debt, Chief Innocent Chukwuma and his company Innoson, have continued to institute various spurious suits before various courts, claiming frivolous and outrageous sums against the Bank.

What GTBank is not saying:
1. In responding to Innoson’s motion for a stay of criminal proceedings at the Court of Appeal, the Honourable Justice J.S Ikyegh on September 17,2017 dismissed the motion for being unmeritorious and ordered that proceeding in the criminal case against Innson should proceed.

2. On October 12, 2017, the Police through its Charge No. FHC/L/565C/2015- filed an application for the issuance of bench warrant against Innocent Chukwuma; Charles Chukwuma and Annajekwu Sunny for fraudulent clearance of goods, forgery, conversion, stealing and conspiracy presently pending before Faji J, at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi and adjourned to Decemeber 8, 2017 for arraignment/or hearing of motion.

What we think:
Innoson should stop trying to play the underdog and simply resolve his issues through legal means or arbitration. On Innoson playing the Igbo tribe card, this is not in good taste in this moment in history. We are aware of GTBank’s strong position on unpaid debts. We know GTBank has gone often several debtors of the bank irrespective of who they are or where they come from. So why is Innoson’s matter now tribal? Please, this makes no sense. Innoson and GTBank, resolve your issues privately and let us all hear word.

Merry Christmas my people

According to the charge, Aderinokun criminally “converted a piece of land measuring approximately 1764.44 square metres situate at Plot 7B, Block CBD.1, Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, property of Ocean Trust Limited for your own use and to the use of others, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 287 of the Criminal Law Cap C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

He was said to have forged a Deed of Assignment with file number DLS/GC/110323 with the intention of using same to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

Also, Aderinokun was alleged to have fraudulently obtained N18million from one Mrs Jumoke Fola-Alade on the pretense that he was the owner of the said property contrary to and punishable under Section 314 of the Criminal Law Cap C17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State.

In the other charge, Aderinokun and Abdul-Wakil were said to have conspired with others now at large to fraudulently convert a piece of land measuring approximately 913.628 square metres situated at Plot 44, Block 77, Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1 in Eti Osa for their use.

The property in question, which was registered as Number 96 at page 96 in Volume 1993p, belonged to Mr Ben Adebisi Oyekunle and Mrs Bukola Taiwo Oyekunle.

Stephanie Coker and Her Husband, Olumide Aderinokun.

In one of the counts, Aderinokun and Abdul-Wakil and others now at large were said to have “On or about the 3rd of March, 2012 at Lekki Area of Lagos State in the Lagos Magisterial District, possessed a fraudulent document (Deed of Assignment registered as No 91 at page 91 in Volume 2399) knowing fully well that the document was false and presented same at the Lagos State Land Registry, Alausa, Ikeja for registration and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 of the Criminal Law Cap C17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

Specifically, Abdul-Wakil was said to have used official information at his disposal to fraudulently convert the said land for his own use contrary to the law.

After the charges were to them, the defendants pleaded not guilty, while their lawyers – Stanley Imhanruor and Sunny Ogoh urged the court to grant them bail on liberal terms.

The lawyers hinged the bail application on the grounds that the defendants had no criminal records and were appearing in court for the first time, adding that the offences for which they were charged were bailable.

On his part, the prosecutor from the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Dr Babajide Martins applied that the defendants be remanded in custody, as well as a date for trial.

Stephanie Coker and Her Husband, Olumide Aderinokun.

He said the application for remand was necessitated by the fact that the defendants were allegedly involved in a well-orchestrated land fraud coupled with the fact that others connected with the crime were still at large, and that releasing them on bail may jeopardize the case.

In her ruling, Magistrate Oshin admitted Aderinokun and Abdul-Wakil to bail in the sum of N10million and two responsible sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 16 in the State Public Service and must get approval of the Head of Service to stand as surety.

Oshin also ruled that the other surety must be a staff not below managerial level in a reputable organization and if self-employed must show evidence of company registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with a minimum balance of N1million and tax clearance.

“The defendants are to deposit their valid international passports to the court, while the official and residential addresses of the sureties are to be verified by the prosecutor,” Magistrate Oshin held.

The defendants were also ordered to be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison pending the perfection of their bail conditions.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to February 2, 2018 for trial.

3 out of 5 boys who gang-raped a Girl in Ghana arrested

Following Tuesday’s viral video that showed four young Ghanaian boys raping a young girl that sparked outrage on social media, the police have swung into action.

According to multiple reports, 3 out of the four suspects were apprehended by the Police after their video went viral with many calling for their arrest.

This is indeed a welcome development.

Police in the Ashanti Region picked up three people believed to have been involved in the gang rape of a young girl which was then filmed and disseminated on social media.

The disturbing video shows a gang of guys raping a teenage girl who was being held down by one of them whilst the other take turns in forcefully having their way with her.

Police believe the perpetrators to be five in number and have launched a manhunt for the other two. They are requesting information from the public to assist in arresting the others.

The girl in the video, according to reports, is currently at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital receiving treatment and is assisting the police in their investigations.

The incident occurred at Bantama in the Ashanti Regional capital.

The National Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, indicated in a statement that, it had taken a “serious view” of the incident, and has constituted a special investigative team to look into the matter, and identify the suspects for the necessary legal actions.

The statement also asked various media houses and those in possession of the video to “stop circulating it since it is an offence to circulate such obscene materials.”

“Anybody with any relevant information should personally report to the Cyber Crime Unit of the CID Headquarters for further action,” it added.

Nigerian Father Beats Up Man Who Spoke About His Baby Daughter’s Breast.

So a Nigerian father, who’s a customer service consultant, innocently uploaded an adorable photo of his infant daughter on his instant messaging status and an apparent pervert couldn’t see the cuteness of the photo but the bosom of the little child… what followed next is what has us in talks.

The pervert then took it upon himself, via a phone call, to ask the father of the little girl, “why he exposed her breast” – outraged by this, the Nigerian dad who apparently knows the caller, then took to his location to confront him.

He shares his story – as he warns other people to try everything in their power to keep their children safe – as thus:

I updated my whatsapp with this picture of my daughter and somebody called to ask me why i was exposing her breast!

Fam! I left the office, drove to the bastard house club in hand, still bitter i got only one hit on the shoulder before people overpowered and restrained me!

You come close to my kids with your demonic sexual depravity and i swear on my mother’s grave that i will in police custody for premeditated murder! I will club you to death and ensure your corpse is unrecognizable!

Thunder fire you! Awon oloriburuku!

For 6 years i was sexually abused over and over again by my aunt in my father’s house. Took therapy and strong outcries to God to supress the sexually misconduct that characterised my life. Wish my parents looked out for me and protected me.

Will protect my kids with my life!

Till date, i can’t stand before a lady and ask her out!
Can’t express romantic feeling without turning to a stammarer with my hands and legs flowing with sweat like Niagara falls!

Still battling with the trauma of those years my aunt raped me repeatedly!

Protect your kids

If anyone ask much ask make suggestive remarks let alone touvh your kids, kill, destroy or crush the demon! If you can afford legal services to defend you in court for standing up for your kids, come, I’ve got friends who will bear all the cost!

Man beats wife to death, shares photos of her body to show that he’s in control of her

A man has found himself in serious trouble after beating his wife to death, filming it so that he could show off to his friends.

According to Metro UK, Anastasia Oviannikova died six days after the horrific attack at the hands of Maxim Gribanov in Lebedyan, western Russia.

The husband had repeatedly struck her to prove that he had her ‘under control’ when she told him that she wanted to leave him. Pictures from the brutal attack show her on a sofa with bruises across her entire body. When she was taken to hospital, Anastasia, 28, was found to have severe bruising, internal bleeding and several broken bones.

She slipped into a coma and as a result of such horrific injuries she never woke up and died six days later. A family friend said: ‘She was so full of hope and fun but this man destroyed her life. He should be treated in the same way as he treated her.’

Gribanov kicked and punched her repeatedly over a course of several hours then showed the footage to his friends. Anastasia’s friends said that she had met someone new and was trying to build up the courage to leave her violent husband, who had forced her to quit her town hall job. However, after suffering years of abuse, bullying and intimidation she was too scared to leave him in fear of what he would do.

He even threatened her brother and father if they reported him or if they tried to stop him from beating Anastasia. Yulia Kuznetzova, a police spokeswoman, said: ‘At first the man was charged with assault which caused severe damages to the woman’s health. ‘But after she died and the charges were changed. The suspect pleaded partially guilty. He said he had his reasons.’

Ladi Balogun: A Quintessential Visionary Banker with Hands on the Plough

When history takes a census of men and women who have made impact and affected the society, what should indeed count, apart from social, economic development and values on the national scale, is critically the stepdown on how specific individual lives and organisations have been positively touched.

A public opinion analyst, Emefu Ibeayoka, writing from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, takes a cursory look at a young Nigerian Banker, who in his early forties, has already realised decades of achievements, very few Africans within the same age and opportunity brackets can only imagine.

Drawing from a religious allegory in the popular Parable of the Talent with specific reference to the wise and faithful servant who got the highest number of 5 talents, doubled them and entered the joy of his master, reminds one of the powerhouse of the Balogun Business Empire, Ladi Balogun.

The lad who was bequeathed the responsibility of developing and sustaining a legacy in an outfit during the period when a lot of bigger and stronger banks in the pecking order speedily went under in Nigeria, did not disappoint.

The current Group Chief Executive of FCMB Group Plc, did not allow his very comfortable background to becloud his determination to pursue the impeccable career he set-out to achieve. Once the youngest CEO in the Nigerian Banking industry, you are right, a youth and visionary leader, motivator, teacher and entrepreneurship expert, one is correct. Retail and Investment Banker per excellence, you are good to go. A profound architect in mergers and acquisitions, a management consultant and people’s manager, you are spot-on.

Nasir El Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State at the 2017 Annual Blacktie and Award ceremony of Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria (HBSAN) which held in Lagos recently, recounted how civilised climes, from the cradle set-out to train their leaders, send them to the best schools in the world and then create platforms for them to take-up leadership and work in the public service. He decried Nigeria’s condition whose case is the opposite.

The country is said to have been politically occupied largely by illiterates, thoroughly uneducated, uninformed and mentally dormant persons who go into politics and take-up positions of leadership and authority. In their mediocrity, they let the country down.

A prominent Nigerian who does not want his name in print, at that event, wondered why a Ladi Balogun, who was the President of Harvard Business School Association and even like his father, the Founder of FCMB (Otunba Dr M. O. Balogun, Olori Omo-Oba Akile Ijebu) would not touch politics in Nigeria with the longest spoon.

To the observer, the journey here indeed, is very far if he and his likes continue to run as fast as their feet can carry them, when it comes to steering the ship in the area of politics and leadership outside the business paths. The observer called on the Federal Government of Nigeria and the present administration to conscientiously and urgently find a way to convince such calibre of persons to bring in their knowledge and skills to advance the affairs of the nation as currently needed.

The cerebral Banker who sits as the Group Chief Executive of FCMB Group Plc, a holding company with interests in commercial and investment banking, investment management and pension administration, having successfully completed his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of First City Monument Bank Limited. Under Ladi Balogun, FCMB Group which has an operating history of about 40 years in Nigeria, since the establishment of its investment banking business, is said to have over 500,000 shareholders, recording over N1 trillion in assets.

The President of the Otunba Tunwase Foundation, a charitable organisation focused on the health and welfare of children has spent 24 years in the banking industry working in the United Kingdom, USA and Nigeria.

Balogun began his professional career in 1993 at Morgan Grenfell and co. Limited, one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious investment banks, which was later consolidated into the investment banking division of Deutsche Bank. Subsequently, he proceeded to Citibank, at one time the world’s largest financial services institution, in the USA, and was responsible for structured trade finance covering Central and Eastern Europe Middle East and Africa.

The Chairman of Tenet Investment Company, an impact investment company focused on wealth creation for smallholder farmers in Nigeria has spent the last 20 years at First City Monument Bank, rising to the position of Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

He led the team that transformed the bank from a small merchant bank with less than 200 employees to a large commercial bank with 10,000 employees, over 4 million customers, 200 branches and a banking subsidiary in the United Kingdom. He led the acquisition and integration dynamics of FCMB with 4 banks over the last 15 years. He also midwifed the establishment of some of FCMB’s most significant subsidiaries including Nigeria’s largest and fastest growing micro-lending organisation, Credit Direct Limited.

In March 2017, Ladi Balogun became the Group Chief Executive of FCMB Group Plc and with his hands on the plough, decided to delve into the sphere of Pension Administration. Recently, the financial expert who has soft spot for Agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, youth development and women empowerment, led his team at FCMB Group Plc to acquire majority stake in Legacy Pension Limited. His target was to broaden the holding firm’s service offerings with the group already offering commercial and retail banking, investment banking, asset management, and trusteeship services. The successful completion of that transaction brought FCMB Group’s shareholding in the pension firm to 88.3%, thus becoming its largest shareholder.

It is revealed that under Balogun, FCMB Group Plc, developed into one of the frontline conglomerates with the richest pedigrees in financial services in Nigeria. The broadening of its holdings to include a controlling stake in a PFA is very likely to open a new vista of growth and stability to its already established income streams. The bank’s 4 million customers, 200+ branch network and strong digital presence are fertile grounds for the rapid growth of this new addition to his group’s portfolio.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom and an MBA from Harvard Business School, United States of America. He has attended many leadership training programs in Nigeria and abroad. He has spoken at several high level leadership fora and delivered lectures at public and private citadels of higher learning.

Ladi Balogun’s leadership resulted in the successful transformation of First City Monument Bank Limited from a merchant bank to a top 10 commercial bank in Nigeria across key metrics. During this period, the bank has emerged as a leader in consumer finance, agricultural banking and electronic banking.
