The police in Ogun State has arrested a 42-year-old suspected ritualist, identified as Ajiboye Emmanuel Olusola, in possession of corpse of a baby.

The suspected ritualist was nabbed at Saapade motor park last Friday when he was about to board a vehicle going to Lagos with the corpse of the baby wrapped inside a polythene bag.

It was learnt that the offensive odour oozing from the bag roused the suspicion of other commuters in the vehicle, who immediately alerted policemen from the Isara-Remo division.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, explained further: “Upon the information, the DPO of Isara-Remo Division, CSP Yusuf Taiwo, led policemen to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested. On searching his bag, it was discovered that a dead baby was wrapped inside it.

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was coming from Offa in Kwara state heading to Lagos where he intended to bury the baby. Not satisfied with the claim, the suspect was taken to Isara division for further investigation”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation.

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked his children to study hard, saying he will not steal Nigeria’s money.

The president said this in a documentary entitled “Buhari: Beyond the Iron and Steel” aired on Nigerian Television Authority last night by the Presidency.

Buhari also said the goodwill he enjoyed from the masses kept him in politics.

He added that his central objective was to provide transparency and accountable government.

“I pray five times a day thanking God that allowed people to understand and believe me. This goodwill that I enjoy from the masses is what is keeping me in politics and of course, my central objective is to provide transparency and accountable government,” he said.

Earlier in a Facebook post, presidential spokesman Mr Femi Adesina quoted some government officials as commenting on Buhari thus:

“He gives you things to do, and leaves you strictly to do those things. No interference at all, once he has confidence in you….And he cracks those jokes, and manages to still keep a straight face.” -Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

“He gave me some priority projects: Mokwa/Jebba road, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, and Second Niger Bridge…He never appends his signature to anything, unless you’ve explained, and he understands it.” Mr Babatune Raji Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing.

“When we were in the opposition, you needed to see how we rolled on the floor in his living room, as we laughed. Of course, we can’t do that again now.” Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna State governor.

“I wish I had his patience. He would listen to everybody, and then take a decision. He is a reformed democrat.” Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.

A motorsport enthusiast who was simply identified as Daniel lost his life in a high-speed crash when the BMW he was driving crashed into a bridge.

According to a Twitter user, @chukaobi who said he saw the victim race past minutes before the accident accompanied by another vehicle shared the tragic story online.

We came across the deceased’s Instagram, @mcskon and we discovered his love for fast cars.

Tragically, Daniel lost a lady named Adaora Okoli believed to be his girlfriend in a BMW crash on April 21st 2014 as can be confirmed from his Instagram page. He was also in the car at the time but he survived.

He wrote on His Instagram; “never imagined me doin this, words can never express how I feel, trying so hard to be strong for u baby..wish I cud wake up from this dream..I know for sure you’re in a better place cos this world is so cold..I’ll never forget you cos no one can ever cover for u..it’s true u don’t know what u got till it’s gone..I miss you so much Ada..it’s so hard to live without you..nothin makes sense anymore..memories of the great times we had wud live forever..no one really knew u like I did..wud I ever get over u..please rest in peace baby please..we all miss you..thanks for being there for me..I feel so alone..my love and my sister..farewell..”

He wrote again; “It’s a year today I survived this crash, even though I lost my best friend I’ve held on to every memory of the moments we shared and it’s got me thinking..will people remember me when am gone and what they’ll remember me for, life is not necessarily about how far you’ve gone or how much you’ve made, it’s about touching people’s lives positively so you can be remembered for good, you’ll always live on Adaora Okoli, thank you thank you thank you for giving me so many wonderful moments to remember, keep resting in peace my love! Do something amazing for a total stranger today in her honor please!!”

Daniel’s dream (as written on his BIO) was to race for BMW, that dream has been tragically cut short, please be safe out there guys…

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday stirred up a fresh controversy over his real age when he said he thought he was 74 but was told he was 75.

Buhari spoke when the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello, led a delegation to pay him Christmas homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President, joined by state governors and other top government officials, celebrated his 75th birthday penultimate Sunday. He was said to have been born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, present day Katsina State.

While thanking his guests for the visit, Buhari recalled the health challenge that kept him away from the country for months earlier in the year and admitted that 2017 had been a tumultuous year for him.

The President said he had recovered well from the sickness because he obeyed his doctors who instructed him to be eating and sleeping well.

He said, “I am very grateful (to you) for taking time out on a very important day to come out and spend it with us.

“It has been a tumultuous year. I am thinking I am 75. I thought I was 74 but I was told I was 75.

“I have never been so sick, not even during the 30-month civil war that I was stumbling under farm of yams or cassava.

“But this sickness…I don’t know, but I came out better. All those who saw me before said I look much better when I came back.

“But I have explained it to the public that as a General, I used to give orders. But now, I take orders. The doctors told me to feed my stomach and sleep for longer hours. That is why I am looking much better.”

Buhari said he appreciated the visit because he respects good neigbourliness both at individual and national levels.

He said that was why immediately after his inauguration as President in 2015, his first foreign trip was to Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin Republic.

“If you are in good terms with your neigbours, then you can make some savings for development.

“But if you start fighting your neigbours, then I am afraid the resources you have you will lose it in trying to be very clever.

“So I try to be very close to my neigbours both individually and nationally. I thank you very much for being very good neigbours,” he added.

The President admitted that 2017 has been a tough year for Nigeria.

He expressed the hope that next year would be more prosperous for the country.

Several properties were razed on Monday, Christmas day, as members of the Hausa and Gwari tribes clashed in Bwari, Abuja, Punch reports.

An eyewitness, Musa Nurudeen, who spoke to Punch said the clash started after a fight broke out between a Hausa youth and a Gwari youth.

The two tribes had for a while been tussling for supremacy, Nurudeen said, as there exists two traditional rulers from both tribes – Sarkin Bwari from the Hausa tribe and Etsu Bwari from Gwari.

The fight between the youths reportedly led to the death of the Gwari youth, which angered his people, and led to the clash. Nurudeen said:

In October, there was a protest by the Gwari people that there cannot be two rulers in one kingdom and that they want the government to recognise the Etsu Bwari while the Sarkin Bwari should be abolished.

So last night, there was a fight between a Gwari and a Hausa youth which led to the death of the Gwari youth, this infuriated the Gwari youths and that was what led to the clash.

Security operatives have since contained the violence, Punch reports, asking residents to remain indoors and turning motorists back.

3 National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) patrol vehicles were also seen in the area.

While the FCT Police Command has confirmed the clash, they said the details are still sketchy. The FCT Police Spokesperson Anjuguri Manzah said:

The details of the incident is still sketchy, but our immediate objective is to contain the violence and ensure security of lives and property.

The former Arsenal defender revealed in an interview with the Mirror on Sunday that he has been pushed to the brink of suicide after losing everything and now spends his days hiding from ­bailiffs.

In addition to this, Eboue sometimes sleeps on the floor of a friend’s home and even cleans his clothes by hand because he has no washing machine.
