A police sergeant attached to a house reportedly owned by a former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has allegedly brutalized a worker with the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Dele Ogundele, who’s currently hospitalized.
According to PUNCH METRO, the mobile policeman, identified as Attah Aninoko, on Thursday dragged down Ogundele from an electric pole opposite the house and beat him up for disconnecting power to the house of the former IG.
Ogundele’s leg was allegedly broken by the sergeant, who was reported to have boasted that “nothing will happen.”
The matter was said to have been reported to the police at the Ikoyi division and the sergeant was arrested.
The Head of Corporate Communications Department, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Mr. Godwin Idemudia, who confirmed the incident, said the sergeant had been detained.
He explained that the house of the former IG owed a bill of N154,693.85, adding that the name on the bill was one Yusuf.
He said:
“What we do is that anytime customers don’t respond and pay their bills, we go out with copies of their bills. When we get to their houses, we tell them what they owe and ask if they had made any payment in the last 24 hours. If they can’t produce any evidence of such, we disconnect their electricity.
“That was what we did in this case. We had two of our vehicles working in the area on that day. On getting to the house around 12noon on Thursday, October 19, a man came out and we asked for evidence of payment because we discovered that the house owed over N154,000. When he couldn’t produce it, we said we would disconnect the power. The man flared up.
“The mobile policeman came out, and while our official was disconnecting the power from the pole, he ordered him to come down. In fact, he dragged the official down and beat him up. In the process, the official sustained injuries and his left leg was broken.”
Idemudia said because the policeman was armed, other officials of the electricity distribution company were helpless and could only watch their colleague being brutalized.
He said policemen from the Ikoyi division were alerted and the cop was arrested. Ogundele was said to have been taken to a hospital.
“When he was taken to the station, he started boasting that nothing would come out of the case.
“We believe that nobody is above the law. The case should not be swept under the carpet. The Divisional Police Officer has assured us that justice would be served,” he added.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, denied that Ogundele’s leg was broken, adding that the power company was being mischievous.
He said:
“This people know that the property belongs to a former civil servant and they are just trying to be mischievous.
“They came and said the house owed some bills and before the residents could go in to bring out their record, they had cut off power. There were policemen in the area and they tried to intervene.
“There was nobody that suffered any broken leg or any injury. Care should be taken not to damage the good name of the former civil servant. The DPO is trying to mediate and the case is under investigation.”
Suspected kidnappers have killed the chaplain to the Bishop of the African Church, Ondo Central Diocese, Revd. David Ayeola.
The gunmen shot Ayeola dead in a botched rescue operation after the church declined to pay the N100m ransom the kidnappers demanded.
The African Church had offered N500,000 instead.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the remains of the victim had been deposited in a morgue.
Our correspondent gathered that Ayeola, the bishop, Samuel Ojo; and the bishop’s wife were travelling to Abeokuta, Ogun State, from Imojo Ekiti, Ekiti State, when they were waylaid by the gunmen on the road.
The bishop, his wife, Ayeola, and the driver of the car were said to have fled into the bush.
A source said, “While others escaped, the chaplain was caught and abducted by the gunmen.
“They later contacted the headquarters of the church at Akure and demanded N100m. The church, however, offered them N500,000, which they turned down.”
Another top leader of the African Church said the church’s leadership involved the Ekiti State Police Command in the rescue of the priest.
He explained that while trying to buy time with negotiation, the police also closed in on the hideout of the abductors.
“On Saturday, the police swooped on the hideout of the kidnappers and there was an exchange of gunfire between them.
“The police team was overpowered and the kidnappers decided to shoot the priest. He was shot in the side; they (kidnappers) left his corpse behind. The family has taken the body to the morgue,” he added.
When contacted, the Diocesan Public Relations Officer, Alex Akande, said he could not talk about the incident, adding that the church’s leadership would meet on Monday (today).
He said, “The case is with the police. I don’t want to divulge too much information because I need to get clearance from the church’s headquarters. We will be having a meeting tomorrow (Monday); maybe I can talk after that.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that Ayeola was not married and he had only recently finished from the seminary.
A check on his Facebook page showed that although he rarely used social media, he sometime waxed philosophical.
“People may say many things about you, but what you say about yourself matters most. I know I shall accomplish the purpose of God for my life in the land of the living in Jesus Name. Do have a happy night rest friends,” his last post read.
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi Ademola, confirmed the death.
He said, “Yesterday evening (Saturday), we received intelligence about where the reverend was being kept by the kidnappers. The police and some hunters went to rescue him. We discovered that the place was a very thick forest.
“When the kidnappers noticed that the police and the hunters were coming, they shot the reverend and escaped.
“We went after them for a while, but the team had to turn back when it was getting dark. This was to avoid endangering the lives of members of the team in a terrain that the kidnappers may be more familiar with. We took the reverend to a general hospital, but sadly, we lost him.”
Celebrity fashion designer, Yomi Casual who is currently in Dubai with his heartthrob for their honeymoon, has come under fire from a fan who thinks they have been posting too many photos.
The fan who made a comment under one of the pictures Yomi posted on social media went as far as asking if they even make time out at all to have se*x.
Since the actor’s lucky break into the spotlight, Uche Maduagwu, has continued to unsettle many celebrities in and outside the country with his jabs and prophesies.
In a new chat with Sunday Scoop recently, Uche opened up on his career, prophesies and more.
Read excerpts from the interview below:
How did your journey into entertainment begin?
I thought I was going to be a very big singer but here we are today, I’m an actor. I used to sing R & B back in the days.
Which university did you attend?
I graduated from the Ebonyi State University where I studied Sociology.
How long have you been in the industry?
I have spent over four years in Nollywood. I often tell people that nobody can make you a star. I always had that at the back of my mind even when I went for auditions and they picked other people. It is only God that can make a star or make you popular and that’s what most people don’t know.
You usually make prophecies online, and some people think they are jokes. Are you some kind of prophet or pastor?
It is not a joke, it’s very real. I have the gift of prophecy and when I say anything, it has to be like that. I’m a very prayerful person.
Which notable things have you predicted that came to pass because you have also said many things that didn’t happen?
Let me just start from the most recent one. I gave a prophecy that Nigeria would qualify for the World Cup. I told the Minister of Sports that Nigeria would qualify, but most people didn’t believe it. Even when I told Mikel Obi before the game that they would win by one goal, he laughed over it. At the end of the day, Nigeria won the game.
Which other instances can you mention?
There are so many of them. Long before Banky W proposed to Adesuwa, I told people that Banky W would marry an actress. If you follow my posts on social media, you would know that I usually call Adesuwa my daughter. I told Banky W that he would marry someone who will be his soul mate. I told him he was going to marry Adesuwa, and today, they are together. I also told Mercy Johnson that she was going to get a government appointment, and it happened just like I said.
You recently wrote on Instagram that broadcaster, Gbemi Olagbegi, can no longer afford to be selective when it comes to settling down with a man because of her age. Don’t you think that was too harsh?
The truth is very bitter. We live in a part of the world where people don’t like to be told the truth. If tomorrow, she invites me to her wedding, I will go and even congratulate her.
A lot of people think you do things like that to draw attention to yourself. Is that true?
What kind of attention am I looking for that I have not already gotten? I am popular. There is no Nigerian actor that has had an A-list American celebrity comment on their post. For a celebrity to comment on your posts, it means you are important.
Who was the American celebrity that commented on your page?
It was John Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen. She has over 13 million followers; so, it is not a fluke.
You are yet to get any endorsement deal, neither have you featured in any major Nigerian movie. Doesn’t that contradict your claim of being the biggest actor in Nigeria?
The problem with Nigerians is that they like shooting substandard movies, and I always tell people that it’s not about how many of such movies you do. If you check the acting skills of most of these actors, it is on zero level. They are the ones spoiling this country. They keep parading half-baked actors, and that is why our movies don’t win international awards. People that are supposed to be mechanics and taxi drivers, you use them as actors and turn them to celebrities. I would rather go to the cinema to watch Yoruba films, than to watch any of these so-called I better pass my neighbour cinema movies where they act nonsense.
How about endorsement deals?
I have been getting some endorsement deals, but I have to look for the ones that suit my personality. I cannot endorse people who are nobodies.International endorsement is what I am looking for.
Some people say you comment on issues that don’t even concern you because you are not busy enough. What do you have to say about that?
I don’t know who, in this world, is busier than Donald Trump. Yet, he often makes comments on Twitter. Are you then telling me that Trump is a jobless man? People need to grow up. These platforms are means of communication by which we can reach the rest of the world.
You seem to always wear just one particular shirt. Is that the only cloth you have?
By the grace of God, we are going to auction that shirt in Las Vegas next year. It is one of the ‘biggest’ shirts in Africa right now; it is priceless. Anybody that wears that shirt becomes somebody important. I am going to make duplicates of that shirt because it is my trademark.
Apart from entertainment, are you involved in any other business?
I am a business mogul.Being in the entertainment business alone is big enough, and acting is just a part of it. I host events, and sometimes if I am not in Lagos, I would be in Abuja to host events. I also travel outside the country to help companies grow. I package events as well; so, I am a consultant. I do many things basically.
Have you had any physical interactions with any of the actresses you talk about on the Internet?
Most of them call me uncle. They kneel down to greet me because they respect me.They do it mostly when I am in Asaba to shoot movies, and they are very big artistes
It’s being brought to our notice by one of our readers that yesterday morning, a lady was arrested for a crime she didn’t commit – murder.
The source who wrote to YabaLeftOnline.com, revealed that the lady’s boyfriend, who is promiscuous in nature, hooked up with another lady the previous night and got into a fight which led to the girl’s death.
To cover up his crime, he wrapped the girl’s body and tucked it under his huge bed. He then called his girlfriend – the one arrested – to go get his properties from the apartment he’d hid the dead lady.
Unknown to her, she did as her boyfriend requested but she halted by residents of the area who were suspicious as to why she was packing her boyfriend’s belongings… until one of them discovered the body, which led to her arrest,
Our source, who couldn’t get photos cause the police wouldn’t let it, wrote:
I have a news for you to publish… just this morning in Enugu state, a lady was arrested and what did she do? Her boyfriend picked a girl up yesterday and they stayed together and last night they had a fight and the guy killed the lady, wrapped the body with nylon and tucked her body under his bed and left his house. then called his main girlfriend to go to his house and pick up his document and few clothes for him and bring it to an undisclosed location.
As the yard members where not comfortable with the girl packing up his properties and leaving then started questioning her and just then someone discovered the dead body that was under the huge bed.
She kept pleading that she wasn’t aware and when she tried to contact the guy, he asked her to sort herself out and since then switched off his number and hasn’t been located. now the girlfriend is at the police station as an accomplice to the murder case. This guy in question is quiet, reserved, fair in complexions but has bad reputation in changing and using girls.
Again the dead girl hasn’t been identified so far…. we are living in a wicked world, so let everyone stay woke to their partners behaviour.
We then asked the source, if they have any evidence of some sort to corroborate the story, the source said;
I have no picture cause the police where making a massive arrest this early morning, so I couldn’t take any.
A sex worker simply identified as Talent, caused a stir last Tuesday, after she was photoed taking a walk along 2nd Street Avenue in Gweru, Zimbabwe.
Talent who was clad in just a bra and panties with a Black Label bottle in her hand, paraded herself for close to 10 minutes before going back into the bar and later came back dressed.
Zimbabwean local news have it that Talent who is usually camped at Café Bar in the City centre “would surprise early morning workers as she would come out at around 7am and walk up and down the streets, buying a few things from vendors barely dressed.
Her common regalia is a white bra and pink panties. After a stroll that lasts about 30 minutes, she goes back to her hole and comes back fully dressed.
Many people who operate their business in that street no longer questions her as they are used to seeing her sometimes barely dressed.
New photos trending online shows men and women all donning uniform Aso-Ebis, sitting outside during the Introduction ceremony of Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s daughter in Kwara State on Saturday.
According to the poster, who shared the photos, they were locked out in order to prevent them from erupting into fights over food.
The poster wrote:
“Kwara people who are supporters of Baba Adinni aka Bukola Saraki caged and locked out of the wedding ceremony of the daughter of their great leader. I hear they were locked out so as to prevent them from erupting into nuclear battles over amala, semo or jollof rice. Hunger is real in Kwara State. I don’t even care if Kwarans insult me as usual this morning but this is a disgrace to humanity.”

“As a matter of fact, if any of my employees wants to approach me with any project proposal or some kind of memo or presentation, they have to be well-prepared and make sure they did their home work well because they know I will definitely point out any error therein. “The students approached me and asked if I could be available to give them an insight as to how I was able to accomplish such business successes without any form of formal education,” Indimi said.
“What they wanted was some kind of talk or lecture. And when I went to share my experience with them, I found out that the venue was too small for the crowd that attended the programme, and it was from there I pledged to help them build a better and befitting lecture for the faculty.”

“Things didn’t get messy as people thought. Two people met in the entertainment industry and there was a reality show at a time that kept us together. So, we did a smart thing anybody who found himself or herself in such situation would have done. And when the entertainment was over, we moved on to our normal lives.”
He also adds, “For anyone who thought anything extraordinary happened, it was a live show except that it played into our personal lives too. I got what I wanted, which was follower ship and I appreciate the audience for watching. She understood what she was coming into and I understood as well. We got the mileage we both wanted and we moved on with our lives. Five years down the lane, people are still talking about it.”

A British man identified as Jamie Harron has been sentenced to three months in prison in Dubai for touching a man’s hip inside a bar.
He was arrested in July over the incident in which he said he put his hand on a man’s hip to avoid spilling a drink in a crowded bar.
The 27-year-old electrician had been working in Afghanistan and was on a two-day stopover in the United Arab Emirates at the time.
A campaign group called Detained in Dubai (DiD) said he was sentenced to three months imprisonment at court on Sunday but lawyers plan to appeal. The group said Harron is “angry, disappointed, and dreads what may happen next“.
He is not currently in custody while the appeal is considered, DiD chief executive Radha Stirling said. Harron has already been sentenced in absentia to 30 days in prison for failing to appear at a court hearing for making a rude gesture and drinking alcohol during the same July incident.

A music producer, has been given a walk down memory lane after he took to Twitter to announce that MAVINS recording artiste, Reekado Banks is the realest artiste.
Seemed like a nice compliment until Banks reminded the producer that he insulted him two years, asking him to keep his hailing.

While addressing audiences at the Eagles Summit – an annual gathering of alumnus of Covenant University at the school’s main campus – in Ota, the school’s Chancellor and General Overseer of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, shared how Nigeria’s House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara once made a sacrificial offering of his six months salary during the construction of Covenant University over 15 years ago.
Bishop Oyedepo who spoke on ‘Developing spiritual capacity towards sustainable global impact’, is quoted:
“The Speaker of the Federal House of Assembly has been a son to me since his university days. He shared a testimony yesterday about how he heard me say something in Bauchi in 1988 and it changed his entire life forever. 1988 in Bauchi. It transformed his life forever because he picked it up and ran with it.
“When your University was taking off and we started construction, he sacrificed his 6 months salary wholesale to Covenant University. He has never had to struggle for anything in his life. Everything works in divine frequency for him.”
“And you hear him say again, I am a son of the House. Yes in the midst of wolves, i am a practicing Christian. No truly spiritual person ever gets stranded in life. I gave my life to Christ 48 years ago so I have lived all my life with Jesus. Zero regrets.”
“First Bank officials came here during the third phase of the construction and asked which bank is bankrolling this project, and I told them none. They said it is impossible. They didn’t understand.”
“Your university has never been indebted to any bank. That is the benefit of spirituality, things work for you in a way that seems impossible to man.”
“A top American economist and professor came to visit and came to my office and said this is an Ivy League standard university even in America. I told him thank you, I know.”
When he hit the Nigerian music scene in 2010, it was with the force of dynamite. His rise to stardom was meteoric and every song he released was an instant hit. At 19, he had become a household name, boasting of a multi-million naira endorsement deal with telecoms giant, MTN.
But then, with success in the music industry, came a world of scandals and controversies. Not long ago, Davido embarked on a $30 billion tour that took him to 30 cities across the globe. However, the singer ran into troubled waters with his show promoters when he failed to turn up for a sold out show on September 1 in Colorado, USA.
Fans had indeed been angry and expressed their disgust at the failure of Davido to show up for the show. Obviously aware that there could be a backlash, the singer went online on September 2 to apologise to his fans.
In a snap chat message, he declared that he would have been arrested for credit card fraud like fellow musician, Dammy Krane, had he come for the show. He stated that it was in a bid to avoid being “Dammy Krane” that made him not to appear in Colorado.
“Damn they almost Dammy Kraned me smh! Can’t make the show in Colorado tonight! We were at the airport for five hours. I’m so sorry! It was out of our hands and there was nothing we could do. I will do all I can to make it up to you guys… God bless,” he stated.
However, Davido’s apology did little to assuage frayed nerves. In a swift reaction, the organiser, BME, had carpeted the musician, stating that he deliberately missed the show, while dubbing him a liar, SUN learnt.
According to BME, three flights had been booked for Davido consecutively but he bluntly failed to honour any of them, under the guise that he was doing a photo shoot, while he was actually partying.
BME said:
“We attempted to book a fourth flight for Davido but Davido failed to accept the fourth flight arrangement, stating that he wanted a direct flight into Denver. We could not get him a direct flight to Denver, as there were none; all that was available was connecting flights.
Davido, who bluntly refused to make his flight three times, then posted on his snapchat that he was not going to make it to Colorado! We don’t owe Davido. He breached his contract!”
Disappointed and fuming, Ayodele Akindele, a staunch fan of Davido based in Colorado, had stated:
“It is obvious that Davido is not telling the truth. That he was arrested is probably an excuse just to get off the hook. We all came out and bought tickets for his show only for him to abandon us; it is so sad.”
Another fan of Davido, Balkissa Saidou, said: “(Davido) stole my money, wasted my time and didn’t even have the decency to be honest to the guests. So disappointed.”
And for Dan Asima, Davido simply took his fans for granted.
“It is sad that Davido chose to go parting while his fans here in Colorado were waiting for him. It is so sad.”
Meanwhile, in order to assuage fans, BME had organised another concert for October 16 featuring P-Square. It was a free show. But lots of music fans were not assuaged by BME’s option.
An angry Ashley Reynolds fumed:
“This means nothing to me! You guys still haven’t resolved anything. And to sum it up, you guys try and bring another artiste out here when the first one never came. You guys trying to butter people up with a free concert. (This) isn’t going to make people forget how you’ve wronged us. Nor will it bring our money back to our wallets.”
When Sunday Sun called Davido’s manager, Asa Asika for his reaction, mum was the word. He neither picked his call nor replied text messages sent him.
Nigerian singer, Obiwon and his lovely wife, Nkechi, are celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary today October 22nd.
The excited husband took to his Instagram page to celebrate her, sharing lovely photos of the both of them and also giving tips on marriage. He wrote:
‘There are things in life that all the money in the world can’t buy – life, health, protection, a sweet marriage – my wife is one of the greatest gifts God gave me. To look forward to coming home everyday to unconditional support, love, joy, peace is priceless. It’s purely divine favour.
Of course we don’t always agree on everything, everytime. Today on our 6th anniversary I thought to share the little I know, perhaps it’ll help someone: .
If you’re not yet married ask God for a humble person. Love doesn’t work without humility, on both sides. Humility in marriage is the saliva with which you swallow offence. Pray that you both’ll always submit to each other for the sake of your love. Beauty is only skin deep. .
If you’re a christian seeking to marry a christian, don’t look for “gifts, anointing, talent, serves in church”. To identify a “marryable” christian, look for “fruits”, from the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
.
Marriage does not cure lust, the best sex in the world will not automatically remove all attraction from your bones. Lust is of the flesh, it is the Holy Spirit that puts the flesh under. Your spouse can deeply satisfy you sexually, this is a gift, but you must keep treating anything lustful outside your spouse with a very long spoon. Let he that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. .
As food makes the body grow & healthy, so does sex make your marriage grow & very healthy. If your partner is not in the mood don’t be selfish, it’ll only create problems. Rather woo him/her always. .
Tackle the issue causing the disagreement, not your partner. If you always make this distinction your home will be constantly filled with joy.
.
Your understanding won’t always be aligned. At times one person will be doing the sacrificing and bending more than the other. When it is your turn, humbly do it, while praying for your partner’s eyes to be opened.
.
Do I need to tell you that a 3-fold cord is not easily broken? If you and partner take orders and solutions to issues only from Jesus, before you act or react, nothing will ever come between you.
The Lord Jesus bless you with a marriage you will enjoy, not endure, keeping you both alive to enjoy it. Amen.
Fellow Nigerians, I often wonder why an average Nigerian politician is so squeamish. They love and crave power but eventually prove too timid to do the needful. The comfort power provides seems to be what matters most to them, but, certainly not the pain it may attract.
God bless all those who fought for the democracy we seem to be bastardising today. It is difficult to pick out the Obafemi Awolowos, the Sir Adesoji Aderemis, the Nnamdi Azikiwes, the Anthony Enahoros, the Funmilayo Ransome-Kutis, the Wole Soyinkas, the Aminu Kanos, Abubakar Rimis, the Alfred Rewanes, the Waziri Ibrahims, the Fela Anikulapo-Kutis, Gani Fawehinmis, the Moshood Abiolas, the Kudirat Abiolas, the Abraham Adesanyas, the Alani Akinrinades, the Bola Tinubus, the Bolaji Akinyemis, and such others in the crowd today. These were men and women who were not afraid of tyrants and tyranny.
The reason for the poser on this page this week is simple and straight-forward. I never imagined that a day would come, at this time and age, when supposed democrats would voluntarily throw away their freedom, like many of our leaders seem to be doing at the moment.
Less than two years to the next Presidential elections, only three aspirants have demonstrated the guts to come out in the open to express their ambition publicly, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose and former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido. The fourth person who has expressed his intention privately to me is my friend and brother, Mr Alistair Soyode, the Chairman of BEN Television, United Kingdom.
I really don’t care if they win or not but I salute their audacity to challenge the status quo. You can never, and will never, win if you don’t try first. There would have been no President Barack Obama or President Donald Trump if they failed to throw their hats in the ring. I know so many over-qualified Nigerians who want to contest but are being bogged down by trepidation or abject fear. They only express their dreams in hushed tones. I call them jelly, lily-livered beings. I feel sad anytime I read in the newspapers about full-grown men abdicating their God-given inalienable power to demi-gods with feet of clay.
Let me say categorically that Nigeria will never change unless we change our style of doing things. How can we do the same things repeatedly and expect the same failures to evaporate and vamoose? I’m now convinced that we need our whizz-kids to step out and leap forward to grab power as soon as possible.
No one would say we have not been patient enough. Our serial experiments have not yielded the desired results. We had our fair share of coups. We fought a most atrocious civil war. However, despite all this and when given the opportunity, we choose to largely vote for the dregs of society above visibly talented candidates.
We have recycled leaders. Former Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo departed in 1979 but resurrected in 1999. Now Major General Muhammadu Buhari who was sacked in 1985 catapulted himself back to power in 2015. Even President Ibrahim Babangida who stepped aside in 1993 attempted to sneak back in 2003 but President Obasanjo bullied him into submission and he perished the thought without as much as a whimper.
Recall, that the man who took over from President Obasanjo in 2007, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who was already the Governor of Katsina State, was the brother of Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and his emergence was to ostensibly compensate their family for the death of Shehu in prison, under the Abacha regime. In short, it has been a relay race by military Generals and their acolytes and cronies.
I’m happy that Buhari has fulfilled his own dream. I voluntarily supported him and owe him my love and prayers till 2019 when that contract would expire. I pray that God will grant him the wisdom to understand and appreciate the treacherous nature of politics and politicians. I see how Governors are falling over themselves to visit him and pay homage to HE who must be obeyed and worshipped. I wish to admonish Baba not to believe this monumental scam of the highest order.
If and when tomorrow comes, Baba will be stunned at how these same latter day disciples will turn against him 360 degrees. I can place a bet on that. Everyone is afraid today because of the palpable fear of EFCC. No more. No politician wants to be roughened up for any reason.
Their strategy is to pretend like rattlesnakes and pounce on the prey without warning. I foresee Buhari as one such quintessential prey. These guys are not going to extend this regime of fear by another four years. Buhari would have to go on a blistering offensive to come back to power in 2019. I’m sure, he’s going to be cajoled into believing that he’s the Messiah Nigerians have waited for all this while, until they pull the rug from under his feet.
I remember one of Chief Moshood Abiola’s favourite wisecracks “aponle ni ‘foreman’, enikan o le se ise eeyan merin” (the appellation of Foreman is a mere exaggeration, no man can do the job of four men). There is a limit to what Buhari can achieve in less than two years to come because time flies at supersonic speed.
By this time next year, he must be on the campaign trail if indeed he wants to return to power in 2019 and his Party has nominated him as candidate. Since politics is a game of numbers, he would have to travel round Nigeria and plead for votes. You can force people to support your tenure in power but you can’t intimidate people to vote for you because you will never see the minds of voters. According to a popular political song in the First Republic, “boo roju mi, o rinu mi, demo ni mo wa…” (You may be able to see my face but you can’t read my mind, I’m a member of Demo (National Democratic Party) …]. Such is life.
The truth I want to tell today, as a major supporter of Buhari in 2015, is that his goodwill has weakened and waned drastically and dramatically. Minus the favoured members of the inner caucus of this government, things are no longer at ease within the ruling party. Is there anything Baba can do to redeem himself, his party and floundering government? Of course yes, I believe in miracles.
He must listen to the cries of the people. He should concentrate on building institutions instead of pursuing handpicked individuals. He should unleash the talents that abound in every part of Nigeria instead of seeking to please any section. It is always better to be a national hero than a local champion.
Nigeria is too divided at the moment and this is not good for national development. I still have faith in Baba’s ability to do the best for this country. It is clear to me that this is the legacy that he wants to leave behind albeit that this has not yet been achieved.
The government must be restructured before Nigeria itself can be restructured. The recent mess in NNPC was as a result of excessive and unnecessary officialdom and bureaucracy. The President need not be the Minister of Petroleum. The functions of the Minister of State in relation to the Board of NNPC should be clearly delineated if at all there is any role for him. Such ridiculous overlaps we recently saw should never have happened. We should stop over-concentrating power in one man. It has been said that “absolute power corrupts absolutely…”
Ministers must be allowed to do their constitutional duty, in accordance with the provisions of section 148 of the 1999 Constitution, of meeting regularly with the President and the Vice President to (i) determine the general direction of domestic and foreign policies of the Government (ii) co-ordinate their respective activities in the discharge of their executive responsibilities and (iii) advise the President generally in discharge of his executive functions other than those functions where he must be advised by other persons.
The revelations coming from the NNPC debacle where we now know that it is possible for a Minister of State of a crucial ministry such as the Petroleum Resources not to see the President for months on end should never be allowed to happen. Regular meetings with Ministers and the Vice President as envisaged by section 148 is not, cannot and should not be limited to the weekly Federal Executive Council meetings. The regular meetings should also include meetings with groups of Ministers and even individual Ministers.
That is surely the intendment of the Constitution. As it is with the Federal Government, so it should be with the State Governments, as similar provision for the States exists in section 193 of the 1999 Constitution.
The corollary of this is that both at Federal and State level Ministers and Commissioners must be appointed as early as possible into the administration. The situation where President Buhari did not nominate and appoint Ministers until more than 4 months into his administration and Governor Rauf Aregbesola did even worse by waiting almost 3 years to select his cabinet must never happen again.
The Civil and Public Service must become transparent and accountable again. Civil and public servants are there to serve us as their nomenclature indicates.
They are not meant to be overlords creating fiefdoms where the general populace become their serfs or even worshippers in some cases. A truly restructured viable and vibrant civil and public service is the lynchpin for a proper democratic, fair and just society.
It is insensitive and inappropriate for Government to expect the best of these workers if they are not properly remunerated not to mention, the present scenario, where even the ridiculous wages that they are paid are paid many months in areas. It is the same insensitivity that extends to the illogical policy of no work, no pay! Imagine the chaos and calamity if the workers through the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) also decided that there would be ‘No pay, no work’! A properly structured government would be faced with no such conundrum and the nation can only be better for it.
Courageous Nigerians must step forward and herald the much needed change in governance. They do not have to wait on President Buhari’s decision as to whether he will seek a second term or not before showing their hand.
They would be doing the nation a wealth of good if only what they achieve is to provide stiff opposition to the President and an opportunity for the people to truly use their votes. Otherwise, the Nigerian public would simply have been short-changed and disenfranchised as usual by the political class because again they would be limited in their choice of candidates.

Tonto Dikeh shared the below cute photo with her son, and wrote as the caption; “If you still doubt the Mighty hands of God,Take a look at me now. Am still in awe of all God has and is doing for my Family. Thank God we don’t look like what we have been through. Thank God for your Grace lord’.”
It is no longer news that Tonto Dikeh and her estranged husband, Churchill Oladunni are now separated but what’s news is the never-ending and rants from both parties.
When Tonto Dikeh got married to Churchill Oladunni, it looked like a union blessed from heaven, it didn’t take too long before fights and drama enveloped the marriage.
Tonto Dikeh had her bride price returned to Churchill’s family in the wake of several reports of domestic violence which she claimed to have encountered while living with him.
While everyone thought that was going to be the end of the drama, Churchill Oladunni fired back by releasing a video where he gave a detailed account of how Tonto Dikeh allegedly packed out of their matrimonial home, even got arrested while in Ghana by the police authority for domestic violence.
Tonto Dikeh who wasn’t going to let sleeping dogs lie, came out on several occasions to debunk the claims that Churchill Oladunni took care of her, she even went as far as saying she spent the sum of N10M on their wedding.
It’s one day, one drama for Tonto Dikeh, as we begin to wonder when would the drama clouding the end of this marriage end?

A Pakistani Medial Doctor, shared a very touching story of how a Woman who was barren for over 14 years, finally got pregnant, and died during childbirth.
Read his piece below;
Today is the saddest day of my life. As a Doctor, I have handled so many pregnant women in Labour and every time am in the delivery room I always pray to God to bless all mothers.
The pain women go through in the delivery room is undescribable and this does not include the 9 months they spent carrying the baby. They go through a lot just to bring forth new life.
Today I cried bitterly because I lost a woman, we don’t pray for things like this to happen but sometimes God may have other plans. Why is this woman’s case so painful? She has been barren for 14 years! We have tried IVF & so many method known to man, the woman went through a lot.
Finally God blessed her, it was way beyond science and human knowledge. She just got pregnant despite the fact she has ovarian cyst and huge load of fibroids, brethren she got pregnant. Her fibroid started melting and everything was OK, I know that’s God, he will do things just to show off his glory and awesomeness.
After 9 months, it was time, her husband rushed her to the hospital and quickly I left everything that I was doing and attended to her. She laboured for hours, after 7 hours, it was so painful so we decided to open her up. We lost her but the baby was alive,. Before her death, she held the baby in her arms and smiled “God is great” and then she gave up the ghost.
I was devastated and sad, I went to broke the news to her husband myself, upon hearing the news, her husband fainted, their happy day just turned sour. We lost a live just to deliver a new life today. Please respect women because they pass through the valley of death to bring life. Respect your wife! Carrying your baby for 9 months is no jokes and labouring for hours to give birth to your children is a huge sacrifice.
I pray to God to please protect everyone reading this, especially pregnant women, please put them in your prayers. Dear husband, I repeat respect your wife because she is truly the giver of life. May God strengthen all pregnant women, you will all deliver your babies like the women of Hebrew.
Don’t ignore this post, share to others it is very important because the women in our lives should be worshipped….

After years of smoking week and taking hard drugs, Veteran Musician, Baba Fryo has declared he has stopped the trade, about 3 years ago.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he says it’s just plain stupidity for one to abuse or take any hard drug, as there are no benefits innit.
He said,
“To me, it is just stupidity for one to abuse anything or take hard drugs because I don’t see the benefit. Anyone who takes hard drugs is just ‘donating’ madness to him or herself. Most of these young guys indulge in these things because they either want to show off or are influenced by their friends.
“As for me, drugs don’t add anything to me. Now, I only take alcohol and that is whenever I am in the midst of friends, but I don’t drink excessively.”
He admitted that he took weed for many years before he realised that it was adding nothing to him.
“I took weed for so many years, but I stopped about three years ago. I asked myself what it was adding to me and I didn’t get any positive answer. I would just be calm and quiet for like four hours and people would keep wondering what was wrong with me. I also calculated the amount of money I was spending monthly to sustain the habit and it occurred to me that this tidy sum could be put to better use. For anyone who takes cocaine or any other type of hard drug, he or she is killing himself gradually.
“I talk to younger artistes who are close to me, but I can only advise them. For the ones who are not close to me, there is no way I can talk to them because some of these boys are arrogant. Once I sense that you are full of yourself, I don’t come near you,” the Notice Me singer said.
