For some time now, there has been reportedly been calls and petitions to Whatsapp management pertaining the missed call notification on it’s mobile app when the phone did not actually ring and also voice lags or voice break during Whatsapp call which is probably caused by poor internet connectivity.

Additional, due to the network connectivity in Nigeria, one can’t the internet connection status or stability as it is been recommend that 3G, 4G or Wifi internet connection should be used during especially both voice and video calling.

Though, as at the time of writing this post, Whatsapp hasn’t yet imposed these modification, but trust the required test running on these new features, meanwhile let’s have a glimpse of Whatsapp latest update pertaining these glitches.

Whatsapp “Live Location” Feature

Few days ago, Whatsapp announced that users will be able to share the location with friends and family in real time. If you’ve used the sharing feature before, you know we could already share locations before, except it was static. With this one though, you’ll be able to share it in real time, almost like a Google Map of chat.

This is how it will work — open a chat with the person or group you want to share with. Go to Location, from the attach button. The attach options will have “Share Live Location”. When you select it, you can even choose for how long you intend to share location with the other person. Then hit send. If more than one person shares their Live Location in the group, all locations will be visible on the same map.

Note that this is an end to those times you lie to your friends that you’re in a particular location when you’re somewhere else. It won’t end well when they request you share your location.

Whatsapp’s “Unsend Chat Message” Feature

As already stated, Whatsapp is currently testing an ‘unsend’ feature which will help users to get rid of messages sent either by a mistake or deliberately. With the Delete for Everyone’ feature, those messages you send angrily or when not in good state of mind can be deleted from your Whatsapp Chat Window using ‘unsend’ button.

According to WABetaInfo, experimenting with the new feature on Android and iOS devices. The feature is said to be functioning successful thus far.

‘Recall’ or ‘unsend’ message feature have been in many social apps like WeChat and Viber.

Note: Chats can only be deleted withing 5 minutes after it’s sent and if it hasn’t been read by the recipient.

In Zimbabwe, it’s now a crime to create a Whatsapp group without registering with the government.

Zimbabwe has now made it illegal to create a Whatsapp group without registration and approval from its ministry of cyber security. The ministry released a statement to that effect with the rules to take effect starting November 1, 2017.

37-year-old Abubakar Suleiman was arrested by the Niger State Police Command, after he took 88 bundles of $100 dollars fake currency to one Engineer Abdullahi Sambo of Shango area in Minna.

Suleiman who claimed he doesn’t know the real owner of the money, however claimed that he was directed to give it to Engineer Sambo.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abigail Unaeze, who confirmed Suleiman’s arrest following a complaint lodged by Mamman Manya, one of the relatives of Sambo to the Chanchaga Police Division.

The Police alleged that Abubakar is part of a syndicate who specializes in the circulation of fake currency notes, adding that the police is on the trail of the other members of the syndicate.

Narrating how the money got to him, Suleiman who called his intermediary who gave him the money, Khalifa, while referring to the owners of the money as ‘genies’, said;

“I am on errand. The whole thing is just like a mystery.

I was called by some unknown persons to contact Kahlifa who will give me something to take to Engineer Sambo in Minna. The people promised to help me financially. When I got to Minna, I went to Sambo’s house, on getting there, his relatives called the police that I brought take notes for their father.”

When asked what the money was meant for, Abubakar said, “I do not know what the money is meant for. I was only told it was meant for Engineer Sambo. I am on errand and it was not my business to know if the notes are fake. I was doing what I was sent.”

However all effort to call reach Khalifa proved abortive, as he no longer picks his calls.

President Muhammadu Buhari will Tuesday depart for Niamey, Republic of Niger, to participate in a meeting on common currency for the West African sub-region.

Member countries of the ECOWAS Task Force on Common Currency are ‎Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Niger.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, will also join the President at the meeting. President Buhari will return to Abuja same day after the meeting.

A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday granted the request of a housewife, Iyabo, to have her 10 years marriage to a commercial driver, Biodun Rasheed, dissolved.

The President of the court, Mr Ademola Odunlade, ordered Rasheed to pay his estranged wife N3, 000 as monthly feeding allowance in addition to another monthly N7, 000 for the education of their three children.

The payments, according to Odunlade, are to be made through the court.

Iyabo had earlier told the court that her husband was fond of excessive drinking and had often threatened to kill her.

“He beats me every day and at will. It is so easy for him to find an opportunity to beat me up.

“Whenever we have any misunderstanding, he is always quick to tell me he will kill me one day.

“My Lord, my life is at risk. I am afraid that he may carry out his threat to have me killed one day,” Iyabo told the court.

When asked to defend the allegations levelled against him, Rasheed told the court that he was ready to part ways with his estranged wife.

The couple, who live at Amuloko area of Ibadan, are blessed with two boys and a girl between the ages of four and nine years.

A female corps member, identified as Wannirebie Ayo, currently serving in Ibadan, Oyo state has narrated how an ‘Okada man’ almost raped her today on her way to NYSC secretariat from her PPA.

The aggrieved lady who claimed to have gotten the greatest shock of her life today, shared a photo of herself after the incident and also advised that government should scrap NYSC or stop posting corpers to remote areas.

She wrote:

“I got the greatest shock of my life today when I was almost raped by an okada man. I got dressed up left my house heading to the Secretariat in another community nt up to 30kms away frm my PPA, b4 I enter d bike d man said he wants to use the bush that he is having running stomach then I agreed and waited when he was done we left getting to some point around 4kms he stopped and said he wants to use d bush again.

Not wasting much time he came back start asking me, how much am I paying ? I told him it’s a fixed price na that’s nt wat we should argue abt when he insist I said it’s #300 which is d normal price we pay he said no dat I will pay him #1500 stopping at d junction for 8km and to my destination #2000 so felt uncomfortable wit d way he was acting that was wen I told him ok he should tak me back to where he picked me he said wat abt d fair I said I will pay him I want to collect money frm my friend to pay him d #2000 then he refused and said if I don’t av money he has to take advantage of me using the “f” word then I got scared, tried running away. Everywhere is full of bush where will I run to self no houses, no cars and was already frightened which even made me got weak. He ran after me got me and I engaged in a fight with him bcos I had no choice, then he dragged me and pushed me down to d bush corner started rough handling me, hit me lips wit a blow I started bleeding frm d mouth, he tore my uniform. I was only shouting Jesus Jesus save me save me then at a point he left me and drove off with his bike. I jst believe that God intervene in my battle bcos I see no other reason why he would av left me nt accomplishing his aim to rape me and didn’t collect my fone or any belongings. A 23-year-old Nigerian man, identified simply as Femi who was among the 42 homosexuals arrested in a Lagos hotel in July has revealed that he became he became gay after his Father’s friend raped him.

According to him, they were celebrating a birthday with friends which ended when they were arrested as they were charged with engaging in “gay activities”. Femi spent a month and two days in jail.

According to ABC Australia, since his arrest, Femi has been kicked out of home and now shuttles between “friends’ lounges and lovers’ beds.”

He has lost his job as a cleaner, left his studies at university and had sex for money to help pay for a ticket to Ghana where he hopes he can slip into obscurity.

Femi says he “became gay” at 14 when he fell in love with the man who raped him, an older man who was close friends with his father. He kept the relationship a secret until his father accused him of being “gay and acting girly”.

“When he was angry he would start flogging me,” Femi says.
“Any mistake and he would hit me. Every minute, every hour.”
After a month and two days in jail following his arrest, an NGO bailed him out.
“I tried to bribe my way out of it and members of the [LGBTI] community went to speak with my father…[he] asked them to let me die in [jail],” Femi says.

In 2014 former president Goodluck Jonathan signed a bill which proscribed penalties of 14 years’ jail for same-sex marriage and 10 years’ for same-sex “amorous relationships”.
Days after the hotel arrests, the Lagos State Attorney-General Adeniji Kazeem said the tough stance taken with the men was to help put “a stop to the exploitation of under-aged children” by gay men.

However, 15-year-old Doyin*, who was also arrested says no sex with minors took place. Doyin was in jail for seven days before he was released, but unlike many, he wasn’t fazed by the consequences.

“My parents know I’m gay. This is my lifestyle. This is what I choose and they say I should live my life,” he says.

“A gay is a human being and it’s God that created me like this .

I don’t have feelings for women. I have feelings for men. A gay is a human being [and that’s why I’m bold. I didn’t want my mum to know’
For Tunde*, the consequences were foremost in his mind.

“The police came through and started beating us so I covered my face because I didn’t want my mum to know,” he says.
Bundled into a cell with hardened criminals, Tunde says he was beaten up by another prisoner, called the President, who was instructed by police to extract confessions.

“This is when I had no choice … I said I was gay,” he says.

Along with the other men, Tunde pleaded not guilty to the charge in court, but his picture, name and HIV status were taken by local media and splashed across newspapers around the nation.

“When I came out my mum found out and the people I work with were abusing me saying I’m a girl,” he says.
“My grandma bought the newspaper and said I was not part of their family anymore and that I should leave the house.”

The men return to court on November 22. Lagos activist Peter Kass, whose NGO — Access to Health and Rights Development Initiative — was at the hotel conducting HIV tests for some of the patrons on the night of the arrests, claims gangs used social media to catch unsuspecting gay men out to either beat them up or exhort money from them.

“What people do is ping you or you get chatting and then you talk about hooking up,” he says.
“When you get there you discover the person isn’t even gay and there are six or seven men there … who are just out there to beat up gay men.”
