Donald Trump told the pregnant widow of a US soldier killed in combat that her husband “knew what he signed up for” moments before she greeted his coffin.

Lance Sergeant David Johnson, 25, was among four elite special forces killed when their patrol was ambushed by Islamic militants in Niger.

The US President has been criticised for failing to speak about the incident, amid increasing reports that the mission was flawed.

Trump failed to meet Sgt Johnson’s coffin when it first arrived back on American soil on Saturday and went golfing instead.

And to add further insult, when he finally called the soldier’s widow Myeshia Johnson on Tuesday he showed a distinct lack of compassion.

Instead Trump told her: “He knew what he signed up for… but when it happens it hurts anyway”.

Minutes later, Mrs Johnson, who is expecting the couple’s third child in January, wept uncontrollably over her husband’s coffin at Miami Airport.

Her six-year-old daughter stood by her stoically in highly emotional scenes.

Following the unveiling of a huge bronze statue of President Jacob Zuma by Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha in Owerri over the weekend, Zuma, couldn’t be more proud of this feat.

Not stopping at just the statue, Okorocha also named a street after Zuma during his two-day visit to Nigeria and conferred him with a chieftancy title.

Speaking on the niceties of Okorocha, President Zuma said is speechless, adding that his visit to Nigeria was to “strengthen socio-economic relations and deepen cooperation in education.”

“I walked in here‚ as I say‚ as an ordinary freedom fighter. I’m leaving Nigeria‚ through the state of Imo‚ as a hero. What a decoration.” he said.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that he owes no apology for erecting Jacob Zuma’s statue in Owerri, the State capital.

Okorocha erected a 250-metre statue of the South African President in Owerri, which received a lot of backlash by Nigerians.

However, in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Okorocha, Sam Onwuemeodo said that they cannot be deterred by enemies of the people who are trying to discourage them from making the state open to foreign investors.

The statement reads; “And in case these “Galatians” do not know all we need to do to attract good things or investments to Imo is erecting statues, then, we have no option than to erect as many of such structures as possible.

“We owe no one apology. Rochas made a promise to open the doors of Imo to the rest of the world, for good and he is doing that and we cannot be deterred by these enemies of our people.

“If it was in the days of PDP, schools and markets would have been shut down. And roads closed because President Zuma was coming. But none of such things was done because Rochas and his government have a human face.

“The PDP for the 12 years they held sway never attracted any meaningful visitor to the State except PDP NEC members who were coming to loot the state.”

General overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Dr. David Oyedepo is of the believe that the black man’s greatest challenge is not intellectual bankruptcy, but laziness and inability to task his thinking faculty towards realising assets that will benefit his immediate environment.

Speaking at the 54th meeting of the Committee of Deans of Post Graduate Schools (CDPGS) in Nigerian Universities at CU premises, the cleric said his experiences with those in the academia shows that many of them are simply so proud of having become authority in their chosen fields.

In his words:

“Everywhere I go in Nigeria today, everybody continues to complain that things are not working; but who will start how things will work and when? That person is you and that time is now; and post graduate education should serve as a platform for inciting our students into thinking solutions. Today, it is thinkers that rule the world and we should be development-oriented in things we do.”

To make that difference, Oyedepo challenged the deans to start thinking out of the box, saying that is what would propel them to imbibe same culture into their students.

“Leadership is not being in the driver seat, but adding values. As a dean, you must start thinking what difference you are going to make in that position; what contributions in terms of innovations and feat. You have no business being in that position if you cannot make that difference that will be a reference point to your successors years after you have left.”

Further, Oyedepo suggested the ‘read thinking’; concept which according to him, combines research alongside critical thinking of solutions. Man’s biological configuration remains the same regardless of colour or height, Oyedepo argued.

He said Africa has a lot to tap from Covenant University which was birthed through indigenous thinking and currently ranks as the second best university in Nigeria just within 15 years of existence.

Malaysian police have quashed rumours that a small cat-like creature with a human head had been found in the country.

Officers were forced to deny the existence of the animal, despite videos and photographs circulating online.

State police chief Datuk Rosli Abdul Rahman said that the photographs were “untrue”.

Checks revealed the images were downloaded from the internet before it was shared on social media, claiming that the discovery was made in Pahang. “I hope the public will stop circulating news about the alleged discovery.”

The pictures are thought to be of a ‘silicon baby werewolf’ toy sold online.

10-year-old Aisha, wrote a letter asking to see President Buhari and her request was granted after her uncle published her letter online.

Now, a man named Yahaya Abubakar, has written a letter to president Buhari asking to also see him too. In his letter, he wrote:

My dream is to be the next person to meet with president Muhammadu Buhari after the above mension children even though I am not a child like them.
