“I bought 15 cars, built 4 houses” — Human Parts Dealer arrested in Ogun State confesses

The Ogun state police command recently arrested a suspected ritualist who specializes in buying and using human parts for rituals. According to the state police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, the suspects were members of two syndicates that operate within the state.

The police commissioner told newsmen that the first syndicate comprising of 67-year-old Lateef Aremu pictured above and 32-year-old Kola Sodipo, specialized in purchasing and exhuming corpses for money ritual. They were arrested following a tip-off from members of the public.

Human Parts Dealer arrested

When interrogated, 67-year-old Lateef Aremu, said the business has been profitable as he has been able to build four houses and acquire 15 cars.

“I am a farmer and an herbalist. We were doing a foundation in Itoko where I wanted to build a house; there. We saw these bones and we packed them in a bag and that is all. However, when we wanted to do money ritual, he brought a dry skull for the purpose. What we did was to grind the skull and add other ingredients, including a white dove and local soap. It has been up to 20 years since I have been in the business. I don’t use human parts all the time. I only do once in a while. I have built four houses and bought up to 15 vehicles since 1980 when I started this business” he said

His accomplice, 32-year-old Sodipo, denied knowing that the old man used skulls for rituals.

“I am a farmer. I know baba (Aremu) to be an herbalist, because he usually comes to see my landlord. I also trained as an herbalist. Someone came to me requesting for money ritual and I directed him to baba who negotiated and collected N75, 000 from the client but the ritual failed. The man called me to complain and I asked him to collect his money. He wasn’t ready to collect the money, he wanted it repeated but it failed again. I didn’t know anything about the skull. I didn’t take any skull to him. I only specialized in working for petty traders to boost their trade”.

Human Parts Dealer arrested

The second syndicate Adebayo Mudasiru and Rashid Abass said they bought human parts for N12, 000. They were arrested with dry and fresh human parts, including a human skull, flesh, teeth and four lizards in Totoro area of Abeokuta, the state capital. The state police commissioner said the suspects were arrested after they were sighted with a suspicious bag.

“They specialised in killing people for the purpose of using human parts for rituals. A team of Federal SARS sighted two men on motorcycle with a suspicious bag and were forced to stop and be searched. Recovered from their bag were fresh and dry human parts’ the police boss said

When interrogated, 36-year-old Mudasiru who claimed to be an Islamic cleric, said it was one of their former teachers who sold the human parts to them. He said they bought the human flesh, skull and about 12 teeth for N12, 000.

“We were coming from Itoku to buy some of the ingredients. We didn’t buy the human flesh at Itoku. We collected them from someone in Ijemo area of the town. We were aware of the contents. Human parts are used for money rituals. We actually wanted to use them for ourselves, to draw people’s attention to us and we have been in this job for about five years. We bought the parts from a cleric; the teeth are not costly. I don’t know how many but we bought them for N2, 000; we bought all the human parts, including the skull and flesh, for N12, 000. We went to an Islamic school in Ijaye area of Abeokuta and we have been doing this, though we didn’t learn this in the Islamic school. What we do is to burn the human parts, mix the charred remains with local soap and snail water and use it to bath. We haven’t done it before but that is what we were taught. We were taught to mix lizard, human parts, snail water and other ingredients, we don’t really know how the charms function but that is how we were taught” he said

His accomplice, 33-year-old Abass, said: “It is the person who gave us the ingredients that gave us the human parts. He is the one who taught us the way to use them and it is for money ritual. It is the same day we collected it that we were arrested”.

Inside Ogun State Church where Satan is a “Brother” & Worshippers are served alcohol

Ogun State Church

Without doubt, churches have denominations and patterns of worship differ, but when you stumble on one, where weird activities are the order of the day and alcohol, animal sacrifices and biblical villains like Nebuchadnezzar, Ahab and even Satan are deified, then you’ve just encountered worship redefined. Tabitha Pearl writes.

A Christian worship centre or church is a place where you expect everything but the absurd and the weird. But this was precisely what this reporter beheld few weeks back when she went snooping at “As God said, It Must Be Done, The temple of the Most High God,’ located in Oke-Aro in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

A mere N100 bus ride from the popular Agege/Pen Cinema Bus-Stop, took this reporter to As God Said Street – the street is named after the church. A short commercial motorcycle ride took this reporter to the church’s doorstep.

The temple is flanked on one side by what used to be a mosque and the other by a Celestial Church of Christ, which, strangely, wasn’t holding any service this Sunday. This reporter was however to soon discover during the nearly 10-hour-long service, that the mosque and the Celestial church had to evacuate their locations because of the new “Sheriff” in town.

The first thing that catches your attention as you walk into the church premises, depending on your keenness of sight, would either be the rather heavy use of the colours red and white; or the slaughter slab on the far right corner, though carefully concealed by the gigantic red gate. Beside the slab this fateful Sunday was a black goat waiting to be slaughtered and served to worshippers. Makes some sense though. If worshippers have to stay in church up to 10 hours or more, it just might be normal to consider feeding them.

Inside the temple, the love for red is even more pronounced. The floor has a fading red colour, which tells you it had originally been painted with glossy red paint; even the choir and a few members bear a touches of red on their dresses. No usher is seen ushering people in; there actually is no need for one, as the sitting arrangement is glaring enough, even to a first timer. Male worshippers sit to the right while female worshippers sit to the left.

Another thing you cannot miss as you walk into the temple is the altar. It is divided into two sections: a very high one, probably the holy of holies, reserved for the Most High, should he come visiting; and then a lower one, possibly where the seer, fondly called Papa, preaches from, whenever he returns from a visit to the Most High, which he claims he does often.

“I still communed with the Most High last month. I sit and discuss with Him often. I know his form. Who says we can’t see God?” he boasted amidst wild cheers from his followers.

On the higher altar is a massive chair, the type you find in kings’ palaces. That’s probably where the Most High sits when he visits. On the lower altar is a replica of that same seat, possibly for the Papa. On the far left of the lower altar is a seat like the earlier ones, only smaller in size. This is where the wife of the seer sits during service, albeit only on the invitation of her husband.

Right above the higher altar or holy of holies, is a line-up of some relics, the sort you’re only likely to find in a herbalist’s shrine. The most conspicuous of these would be an elaborate form of a skull, placed in the middle of two crossed bone-shaped pieces of woods – pretty much like the familiar skull and bones image, used to depict danger and death. There is also something like a big calabash, placed in the middle, leaving a first-timer wondering if this is a shine or a temple where God is worshipped.

Sunday Nation’s visit coincided with the 6th Anniversary Celebration of the worship centre. It was with great excitement that the seer, Blessed Dike-Oji-Ofo Chukwu announced to the dance-intoxicated congregation that, “Today, we are celebrating our sixth year of moving to this temple.”

This announcement was followed by an excited cheer from the worshippers.

The service, which was said to have begun at 8:30 am, ran for hours unending, with more than half the time spent singing and dancing, and – wait for this – spraying those perceived by the seer to have danced best with money. Interestingly, the children seemed to be more favoured in the money rain, above the adults. In order to be sure if this was the general mode of worship or just a one-off thing to commemorate the anniversary celebration, our reporter sought the opinion of a female congregant.

VC was angry because we didn’t give him an award — Expelled student of Redeemer’s University, Debo Adedayo spills more

A student of the Redeemer’s University, Debo Adedayo, talks about his post on Facebook that led to his expulsion by the varsity authorities with TOLUWANI ENIOLA.

Tell us briefly about yourself.

People call me Mr. Macaroni. I am an actor, entertainer and former President of The Redeemer’s University Students’ Association. I am 24 years old. I hail from Ikija town in Ogun state. My father is Mr. Musa Alao Adedayo, a journalist while my mother is Mrs. Dorcas Adedayo, an educationist. I am a Muslim.

When did you start having problems with the school management?
I belonged to the Theatre Arts Department. I consider myself a graduate because I sat for final examinations and completed my project defence. My results were sent to me and I passed well. The only issue is that I haven’t been issued a certificate.

I first served as the social director of the students’ association in the 2015/2016 academic session. I remember a particular time when I tried to invite singer Adekunle Gold to the university. He is an artiste that I consider one of the most decent in the country.

The Director of Students Services, Dr. Arogundade, gave verbal approval. We paid Adekunle Gold N400,000 for the performance. To my surprise later, I later got a call from Dr. Arogundade that we need not bring in Adekunle Gold into the school because he is a worldly artiste and unfit for the varsity.

We tried to make our case known even to the vice-chancellor. The VC said he knew me to be a very sound person but he thought I was lost in the world for trying to bring in the artist. The money was neither refunded nor was the artist allowed to come to the university.

Is that all?
I also remember another incident when I tried to organise a cultural day event. As usual, I shared the idea with the director. I told him we were considering inviting the publisher of Alaroye Newspaper to be the guest speaker for the day. The director agreed. Later, he called me that he discovered that Mr. Adedayo is a Muslim. He said we shouldn’t allow people like that to come into the university.

I told him that there are many Muslim students in the university. If the university can admit them, why can’t a Muslim come to the university to impact on the lives of the students?
There was also a time the graduating students wanted to invite Actress Funke Akindele to the school. I was also involved in a way. The school said she didn’t pass the litmus test of the university as she was recently divorced at the time.

I asked if her marital status should be the question or the fact that her coming would inspire and motivate students. I thank God that Funke Akindele-Bello is now happily married and even pregnant. See how God works. The list goes on and on.

What is your relationship with the institution’s VC?
I had the relationship of a sincere and patriotic student president with Professor Adeyewa. I showed him maximum respect always. I commended the university when they did well and also spoke up when our expectations as students were not met. I remember a particular time I went to a certain university on invitation.

I met one of the senior lecturers, who said, “Do you know your vice-chancellor is a failure? Since he came in, the admission rate has declined.” I expressed my displeasure and defended the VC and the university. However, the VC always expressed his displeasure that I was not always supporting the management enough. He was always complaining.

You never mentioned any name in your viral post that caused your expulsion. But who are the bloody hypocrites, daddy VC’s and the backbiter daddy you mentioned in the post?
I didn’t mention names in the Facebook post. I wasn’t referring to anyone in particular. It was just a general remark. The post was mainly to express how glad I was to have met with Prof. Wande Abimbola, who impacted so much on me in barely two hours.

How do you feel that the varsity authorities believed they were the target of your post?
I don’t know why the university feels I referred to them. Did they see the posts where I praised the university and advertised it? Why did they decide to pick on a post where I neither mentioned the name of the university nor anyone? I didn’t accuse the vice-chancellor or any lecturer of any failings. I said the post wasn’t about them. I wasn’t even expecting to be summoned concerning any post by the university. I was only awaiting my convocation.

Were you invited for talks before you were expelled from the university?
After the post, I went on with my acting career until I was later summoned by the university. After I was invited, I was told the management would contact me later. However, I noticed that my name wasn’t on the convocation list. My parents went to the school to demand an explanation. They were not properly attended to. The personal assistant to the VC, however, told my mother that I could not be denied my certificate. The PA said that they were only trying to clarify some things.

What was your first reaction when you got the letter of expulsion from the university?
I sighed, prayed and informed my parents.

What are you doing to reverse the management’s decision?
My parents have decided to take the case to court as they do not agree with the verdict of the university. They have been quite patient. The university claimed I said bad things about them in my post on Facebook. As I said, the post wasn’t for Reedemer’s University. We know that the university is influential but we will still try to get justice.

Are you already seeking admission elsewhere?
No, I’m not. I am full of hope that by God’s good grace, I will receive my certificate from my dear Reedemer’s University. I don’t deserve this treatment. As president, my administration reduced the outrageous bus price on campus from N50 to N20. If I had my way, it would have been free.

My administration was able to acquire a bus from the Family Forum for easier transportation of students. My administration fought for the increase of food portioning, water and light scarcity. My administration empowered more than 10 students in different entrepreneurial vocations and even assisted students who could not pay or complete their school fees.

This one particularly was where all my life savings went to. My administration increased social media awareness and maximum publicity for the university.

Do you regret your post?
No, I don’t. I do not regret living my life for others. I do not regret dedicating myself to the growth and development of Redeemer’s University. I am only sad how things have turned out.

What have been your friend’s reactions?

I received lots of calls from different people showing their concerns.

Is this post about the university the first you wrote on your facebook page?
No. If you check my Instagram page @mrmacaroni1 or Facebook ‘Debo Macaroni Adedayo’ you will see how I used my social media to promote the university.

What are you doing now pending the resolution of the matter?
I am relaxed, prayerful and going about my acting career.

Are you going to take advantage of the ‘recovery of destiny’ programme which the school gave as an option before the decision could be reversed?
No, I won’t because my creator is in charge of my destiny and it is in my hands. I didn’t steal, fight, cheat, or lead a riot as student president. The school expelled me because of a Facebook post they ‘feel’ is about them. I don’t think that is just.

In your post, you mentioned certain things which showed you have been dissatisfied with the state of things in the university. Tell us about them.

Since I entered the university, it is a tradition that the VC is always given an award by the students, association. My administration broke that norm. My cabinet reached the conclusion that the VC did not deserve to be awarded on our student appreciation day.

Hence, we didn’t award him. He expressed his anger over this issue. I heard from certain sources that he swore to deal with me.

Food was a big problem during my tenure as president. The university compulsorily collected a sum of N100,000 for feeding as against NUC regulations. That wasn’t even the issue. The food service was terrible. Some students would resume as late as one or two weeks to examination and the university would still collect the whole N100, 000 for feeding and each student is only entitled to N400 per day. My administration fought for the increase of food portioning as I always raised the alarm concerning the poor services.

We had to contend with light, water and loads of other issues. The VC wasn’t too pleased that I was always coming to complain.

At a particular time, students were wrongly accused of defrauding the university. Meal cards were used for food service. The inventor of the meal card mentioned that the school didn’t pay for the required tools for the meal card programme. So, sometimes the system wrongly read data on students meal cards. More than 100 students were falsely accused and I stood with everyone of them and by God’s grace, none of them was expelled.

You mentioned that you met Prof. Wande Abimbola whom you compared with some other academics. What is your relationship with him?

I don’t have any relationship with Prof. Abimbola. I only met him that day when I accompanied a team of journalists to interview him.

Is he aware of what happened?
I don’t think he has heard. Even if he does, I don’t have any relationship.

Was the decision to attend a private university a matter of choice or circumstance?
I attended Reedemer’s University because of my passion for theatre. Reedemer’s University happens to be the only private university nearby that offers the course. My parents felt it was best to attend a private university because of strike and other reasons. I had wanted to join Reedemer’s University a year earlier than I did. But admission closed already so I wasn’t allowed to come in despite series of pleas as the university had not conducted matriculation. Such was the reputation of Redeemer’s University at the time. Fast track to my time as president and I cannot say the same.

When SUNDAY PUNCH contacted the university, the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Redeemer’s University, Adetunji Adeleye, sent the following statement:

The case is purely a disciplinary issue in conformity with the stance and vision of the university. He has chosen to tarnish the image of the university with a pack of lies like he had done previously. His claims are untrue and dodge the real issues for which he was disciplined.

The ploy to smear the image of very senior officers of the university and also discolour the issues to gain public sympathy is quite unfortunate and speaks volumes to discerning minds.

The university has been magnanimous to offer a lifeline to retrace his steps and recover his destiny in spite of his misdemeanour.

It’s unfortunate that instead of showing penitence and embracing the opportunity, he has again, chosen to further portray the university in bad light.

Debo Also shared some pictures on His Facebook Page, where he revealed that he indeed portrayed the University in a good light, and also promoted them with everything he had.

He wrote in one of his posts;

Reedemer’s University says I put the University and some of her officials in bad light on social media. Please swipe along with me:
Picture 1 is me presenting the Vice President @profosinbajo with a gift on behalf of the University. In the picture is deputy-governor of Osun state and the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Picture 2 is me showing Reedemer’s University to the world with the Minister of communication, Barrister Adebayo Shittu.

Picture 3 reminds me of a funny story as It was a real struggle to meet and present @speakerdogara with this token on behalf of my dear Reedemer’s University. This was at a conference of student union presidents with the speaker and I tried to announce how great my University is.

This is me representing my University in the presence of @raufaregbesola

This is me fully branded in the attire of Redeemer’s University after a courtesy visit to the Orangun of Oke Ila to seek support for my University.

This is a picture of one of our many visits to secondary schools to promote Redeemer’s University.

There are many more. The list is endless. Yet the University claims that the reason for my expulsion is because of a post that neither carries the name of the University nor anyone in it. Oh well..

Debo Also shared pictures of the award he has received while in the University;

All of these awards and I mean ALL, I received as a Student of Redeemer’s University. I received some within the University and some by other bodies outside the University.

The University claim I put them in bad light. Most of you who have been following my posts on social media in the last two years would agree with me how I helped publicize Reedemer’s University like it was my Father’s school.

This same me, would go to Ikeja city mall, different secondary schools advertising Reedemer’s University like I was being paid for it. Like I keep saying, the list is endless.

I never expected it would result to this as I always wanted nothing but progress for my Alma Mata. However, the management of the school have a different point of view. I would like to thank my parents for deciding to take legal action and will hereby rest my case for now. I thank you all for calls, msgs and well wishes.

Please help me let the world know what is happening to me because all I did was serve Reedemer’s University with all my life.

Why it took me time to know God – Iya Rainbow reveals

Iya Rainbow reveals

The fact that veteran actress, Esther Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, is now a Christian cleric still surprises many.

In her days, she could be best described as a society lady. But she now has a church in the Ojodu–Berger area of Lagos.

In a recent chat with Sunday Scoop, Iya Rainbow said when she was younger, she didn’t have a personal relationship with God despite being the daughter of a respected cleric. Then, she used to attend parties with friends and sometimes drank herself into a stupor.

According to her, however, it got to a stage that God ‘arrested’ her and told her to build a church for Him. But just as she started to know God, her husband died and left her with five children.

She said, “I became preoccupied with making my children comfortable; ensuring that they didn’t lack. I didn’t even think of buying clothes for myself. When all my colleagues were buying cars, I couldn’t buy one for myself. The opportunity to buy a car only came when I fell from a commercial bus in front of the late Gbenga Adeboye’s office. I think his boys told him about the accident and he later promised to launch a movie for me. It was the money I got from the launch I used to buy a Mazda 626.”

Continuing, she said, “Though I wasn’t a strong Christian when I was younger, I never visited a witch doctor. I only called on God whenever I was in trouble. But when I got to know God better, I realised that He had been watching over me. Maybe He felt that He still needed me to work for Him.”

“I can’t marry a poor man” — Iyabo Ojo declares

Iyabo Ojo declares

Delectable Actress, Iyabo Ojo in a chat with Punch’s Sunday Scoop has declared she can’t settle for less, when it comes to marriage.

For men who are exceptionally fond of actress, Iyabo Ojo, the news is that she does not fancy a poor man.

Just a few weeks after opening her amala restaurant and lounge in Lekki, the actress made known her preference in a chat with Sunday Scoop.

Since her marriage failed, she has yet to remarry. While admitting that she is now ready to give matrimony another shot, she stressed that she is not in hurry to marry just any man.

She told Sunday Scoop, “If marriage comes along, yes I will consider it. Then, I used to say that I didn’t want to get married again because of the stress involved. Now, I have had a rethink. But I can’t marry a poor man. Some people will say I shouldn’t say that, but I am a blunt person. For someone like me, there is no love without money. I am a celebrity and I am expected to maintain a certain lifestyle, which is expensive.”

Apart from being a celebrity, she insisted that she was also a breadwinner, caring for seven people.

“I have a lot of responsibilities. As a breadwinner and celebrity, how do you expect me to marry a poor man? Where do you expect us to start from? I am not ready to add any man’s problems to mine. I don’t need the man to be very rich, but he must be able to feed himself and me. You don’t even have to cater for my other responsibilities.”

For Iyabo Ojo also, there is nothing like an ideal man in her world, as she believes no one is perfect.

“We all have our defects. When you keep looking for an ideal man, a good one will pass you by. I just need a man who is responsible for himself first before me. Once he is hungry for success, every other thing will follow.”

But, she quickly admitted that nothing could make her settle for a man who would be scared of her success.

“The kind of man I want in my life has to be more successful than me. When I bought my personal assistant a car, people said I didn’t want her to marry. I told them that I don’t expect her to marry someone who does not have a car as well. You say what you want out of life; we shouldn’t deceive ourselves. It is a choice to die in poverty and I have chosen not to die in poverty. I cannot flow with someone who wants to die in poverty,” she said.

After 5 years of marriage, Mr. Isaac and his wife, Victoria (both pictured), began a search for the fruit of the womb, but got their situation worsened by a surgeon in Abuja.

According to DailySun, Victoria, 29, who walked into NIQUAD Clinics, at Orozo, with both her ovarian and fallopian tubes intact, has lost all after passing through the knife of Dr. Empson Nwarigon, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director (CMD).

Doctor damages

Mr. Isaac, led by his lawyer, Hameed Jimoh, narrated the ordeals of his wife in a 73-paragraphs affidavit he deposed to before the Commissioner of oaths, FCT High Court, Abuja, pursuant to the requirements by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

He wrote “The Doctor carried out surgery on my wife and in the process, negligently cut my wife’s small intestine organ and tied it with threads in several places and since then, she can no longer defecate.

That around the end of July, 2017, we met Dr. Nwarigon who asked me to take my wife for scanning for diagnosis, which I did on.

That the scan result discovered that my wife has “Left Mucinous Ovarian Cyst” and it suggested ‘HSG for further evaluation’, but that the CMD asked my wife to undergo surgery in order to remove it.

That my wife and I were never informed by the CMD or signed any document about the implications of the surgery.” .

The surgery was carried out on August 7, 2017, and the wife could not defecate afterwards. He stated that on August 12, 2017, Dr. Nwarigon gave him a referral letter to Maitama General Hospital.

Doctor damages

He added that: “During surgery at Maitama General Hospital, I was invited into the theatre room to witness the errors committed on my wife by Dr. Nwarigon.

I was shocked to see that my wife’s small intestine has been negligently severed by Dr. Nwarigon and was tied in different places with threads, which the doctors had to loosen in order to carry out a successful surgery.

The most surprising thing is that he never told us anything.” All effort to reach Dr. Nwarigon on the issue, failed. He was said to be indisposed for the past two weeks.

“I’d marry my baby mama” — D’Prince

Don Jazzy’s younger brother, D’Prince, In an interview with Punch Newspapers, has spoken about his plans on getting married to the mother of his child.

Read excerpts:

On marriage

I definitely have plans to get married to the mother of my child and as we speak, we are dating; we are in a relationship. I cannot say when I would get married because it is private information. The day I get married, no one would know. The reason why I am famous is because of my music and not my relationship life or family, so I want that to be my focus. What if my partner does not want to be in the limelight? I have to respect that. I don’t expose my private life.

On his time away from the entertainment industry

I would not say that I disappeared from the entertainment scene. I have been up and about and besides, I have a baby and I had to travel to set up my house in America. I was also recording an album and even though this is my second album, it feels like my first. To be frank, I actually needed quiet time to work on my music because a lot has been happening in the industry. Also, scarcity also increases the demand for a commodity.

Singer, D’Prince

On fatherhood

Fatherhood has been awesome. Being a father has actually changed my life and because I have a child, I can say I am in a better place now. I wish this feeling of peace, settlement and vision for everyone. A lot of test and challenges have come my way but being able to overcome them has really made me fulfilled. Initially when my child was born, I was in shock because I did not believe that I had become a father. But apart from that, there was nothing scary.

Mavin Records

I am not leaving Mavin Records for anything because this is what we built from the outset. We evolved from Mo’hits to Mavin Records. Even though it is my brother’s record label, I cannot act in a nonchalant manner. If you really know me, I am the one that creates the rules here so I cannot break them. Anyone that chooses to disobey the rule would face the consequences but I plan on following my pace; I put a lot into consideration before recording my music.

Sister of 15-year-old Slimzy Jay who drank Sniper denies she committed suicide because of heartbreak

Elder Sister to Jero Loveth, the 15-year-old girl who committed suicide by drinking sniper, has spoken on the death of her younger sister.

Identified as Jero Franca, she took to her Facebook page to debunk reports making round that Slimzy (Loveth) took her life because of a guy. Instead, she was depressed and lonely.

Franca Jero.

Sharing a report of YabaLeftOnline.com on her Facebook page, she wrote on Facebook:

You don’t know how painful the death of a person is until it comes knocking on your household.

Seeing these distasteful and defamatory news online is just appalling. My little sister committed suicide but she was never pregnant neither was it because of her boyfriend.

I came online and saw all sorts of rubbish, people insulting a deceased but have you ever heard of depression, loneliness and fear of the unknown? Stay in your house and keep spreading rumors until what happened to my sister happens to your loved ones.

Armed Robber Employs Security Guard To Safeguard His Community Against Other Robbers.

The chairman of Celenca Community landlords association, located along Badagry expressway, Lagos State have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos state Police command for stealing and snatching cars.

The 42-year-old suspect, Daniel Egwe told police officers that he went into crime after some top Nigeria Customs officers defrauded him of over N4million, NewTelegraph reports.

He said:

“Yes, I went into crime after some Customs officers swindled me of N4m. I borrowed most of the money they stole and I needed to repay my creditors. I also joined crime because I had been dreaming and yearning to become chairman of the landlord association in our community.

I needed money for that. You have to lobby other landlords to vote for you.
This included doling out money. I spent money on those landlords that voted for me.”

Meanwhile, when security operatives stormed the community to arrest Egwe, members of the community wouldn’t allow them to take him away.

They told the operatives that Egwe was too pious and honest to be a robber. They said it could be a case of mistaken identity. Police alleged that he had used proceeds from crime to build houses in the community.

Egwe was arrested along with Bademosi Adebayo and Nnamdi Ariwodo.

A police source said:

“According to the community members, the suspect had contributed immensely to reduction of crime in the community.

He single-handedly hired security guards to keep watch in the community. He hired guards to keep out armed robbers from the community, while he is also an armed robber.”

FIFA rejects Ghana’s request to replay 2018 world cup qualifier against Uganda

FIFA has said it will not act on Ghana’s complaint about refereeing, in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match at Uganda last weekend.

The Ghana federation called for the 0-0 draw to be replayed and also protested about South African referee Daniel Bennett and his assistants from Seychelles.

The Black Stars’ failure to win, meant Egypt clinched the sole ticket from the group, after they beat Republic of Congo 2-1 the next day.

FIFA says “no proceedings will be opened around the World Cup qualifier match Uganda vs. Ghana.”

Ghana believed two goals were disallowed for incorrect offside decisions. Replays also suggested a stoppage-time goal should have counted.

Tekno And Lola Rae Break Up Again; Unfollow Each Other On Social Media.

Just about two months after they presumably got back together, after an alleged break up, Nigerian music sensations, Lola Rae and Tekno, have yet again, hinted another break up.

The duo have unfollowed each other on their Instagram pages respectively – it should be recalled that sometime in August, they hit the web with break up reports after unfollowing each other on IG and weeks later, disparaged the reports as they were spotted having a nice time partying, with Tekno sharing the photos and video of them partying at a club in Lagos.

Well, it looks like they’ve had to have a time off from each other again as their IG pages state the obvious. Tekno, is currently busy with his career and is in the works with DJ Cuppy who on one hand has broken up with her footballer boyfriend Victor, which makes them both single… if you know what I mean.

Yeah well, they seemed like a perfect pair… we hate to see them go! #Sobs

The Indian Hemp Farm The arrest and destruction of the plantation at Ala forest was carried out by a Special Enforcement Team(SET) led by the Controller of Operations(CN) of the Agency Sunday Zirange.

Those arrested include both men and women. The led by the NDLEA’s Chairman/Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Col.Mustapha Abdallah(Rtd) were on a two day operation to the state.

Also, two suspected cultivators of the substance had to abandon what they were cooking on fire inside their hut when they saw the team but were later arrested in a nearby farm where they were hiding.

Hundreds of labourers were engaged by the agency to cut all the substance before they were set on fire. Speaking on behalf of the NDLEA Chairman, Zirange lamented the rate of deforestation in the southwest especially Ondo state.

He said:

“In the next 10 years if care is not taken, the thick forest in the west would have disappeared. The Northern part is a desert region, with fast encroachment while the south which is suppose to be the hope of the nation is being used for cannabis cultivation and the destruction of economic trees.

This development is affecting this country, all hands must be on deck, because the situation will affect the whole world with the issue of global warning as a result of environmental degradation”.

“Last year about 72 tonnes of cannabis were seized in Ondo forest zone, now we decided to be on the plantation site for us to see things for ourselves, you can see, there is no standing trees again, we will bring those arrested to justice.”

After 23 Years In Prison, Man Who Was Wrongly Convicted For Murder Regains Freedom (Photo)

man wrongly convicted regains freedom

A Kansas native, Lamonte McIntyre who was wrongly convicted of a double murder finally regained freedom after spending more than half of his life behind bars.

man wrongly convicted regains freedom

The 41-year-old man hugged his mother for the first time as a free man in 23 years on Friday with joy all over his face.

McIntyre who was serving two life sentence spoke for the first time and his first words were: “It’s nice outside.”

He was originally convicted at the age of 17 on the testimony of witnesses who later recanted. Prosecutors presented no physical evidence or motive to tie him to the 1994 murders.

A judge was reconsidering the case in court hearings that were scheduled to last into next week, when the new prosecutor in the case said in a news release that new information cast doubt on witness identification of McIntyre as the killer, and that a jury might have not convicted him.

“In light of information learned by my office since I began in January,” Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree said:

“my office is requesting the Court find that manifest injustice exists.”

The original investigators of the daytime shooting never issued search warrants nor discovered a link between McIntyre and the victims, according to The Washington Post. He was arrested after less than 20 minutes of interviews.

“The investigation was hasty and superficial,” said the Midwest Innocence Project, which helped free McIntyre.

McIntyre has always maintained his innocence.

His mother, Rose McIntyre who was present when he was arrested decades ago, on Friday thanked “everybody who never gave up on my son,” according to the Kansas City Star, which reported that there were many tears in the courtroom when the man was finally freed.

He (the judge) said:

‘You’re free.’ I almost hit the floor,” The Star quoted Rose McIntyre as saying. “I want him to feel the sunlight.”

“Davido’s Released CCTV Footage Is Useless In Tagbo’s Investigation”

Davido's Released CCTV Footage

After the singer’s release of his own clip from the night Tagbo died, Dami, a family friend to Tagbo’s family, has revealed the tape is of no use in the ongoing investigation.

Speaking with Saturday Beats, Damilola Usman, says,

“Few days ago, I was told that during Davido’s visit to the police station, he brought the guys who dumped Tagbo’s body at the general hospital to the police station. The same guys that they saw in the CCTV were the ones that were brought to the police station. The CCTV in the hospital showed the guys that dropped him and the way he was dropped at the hospital.

“From my observation, the police investigation would not be based on the CCTV from the Shisha Room where they went to drink. Davido is only trying to defend himself by releasing the CCTV video footage of the Shisha Room because the police already have that footage and they had seen it before Davido’s camp released the video. I believe they are going to base their investigation on the hospital’s CCTV.

“The question that Davido has been asked is why he asked people to drop Tagbo at the hospital and he is denying the claims. They are asking Davido that why his escorts would leave him to go and drop Tagbo’s body in the hospital. He is showing us the Shisha Room CCTV which revealed that the guy was drunk. We are all aware that he was drunk, but how did they treat him after realising that he was drunk? That is the question that he is being asked but he is trying to evade it. I saw the CCTV footage at the police station and he knows the guys that went to drop him at the hospital.

They are his boys; one of them was wearing a red fez cap and an Adidas clothing head to toe. The guys that went to drop him are Davido’s friend. I saw one of the guys at the Shisha Room on that fateful day and later that night, I also saw him at the Elegushi Beach but I don’t know when they went to drop him at the hospital. The police already have all the evidence they need and they are investigating the matter.

“The footage that was released which showed that Tagbo was high at the Shisha Room is not the issue; the question is what happened after.”

Dami also revealed that Tagbo’s dad died 5-years ago and his mum is currently battling stroke:

“Tagbo’s father died about five or six years ago. He is the first son but second child of his mother. He has a younger brother, Chigbo but his elder sister who is the first born of the family is based in the UK. His mother has stroke and I am sure she is not happy about what is happening being a mother. I cannot really say much about the state of his mother and the only person that can say much about her is Chigbo because she is currently not in Lagos,” he said.

“I Took Time Off My Music To Take Care Of My Baby” – D’Prince.

D'Prince

Mavin artiste, D’Prince, has shared why he took a break from the music scene as he opens up on his relationship with his baby mama and his marriage plans.

On marriage plans, he said:

I definitely have plans to get married to the mother of my child and as we speak, we are dating; we are in a relationship. I cannot say when I would get married because it is private information. The day I get married, no one would know. The reason why I am famous is because of my music and not my relationship life or family, so I want that to be my focus. What if my partner does not want to be in the limelight? I have to respect that. I don’t expose my private life,” He said.

He continued saying his time away from the music scene was taken to cater to his baby who is almost 2-years.

“I would not say that I disappeared from the entertainment scene. I have been up and about and beside, I have a baby and I had to travel to set up my house in America. I was also recording album and even though this is my second album, it feels like my first. To be frank, I actually needed a quiet time to work on my music because a lot has been happening in the industry. Also, scarcity also increases the demand for a commodity.

“Fatherhood has been awesome. When I knew I was having a baby, I was scared because I did not know what the future would hold.”

On leaving Mavin:

“I am not leaving Mavin Records for anything because this is what we built from the outset.

“I don’t think anyone should compare me with the likes of Reekado Banks, Di’ja and Korede Bello because we are in the same stable. Anybody that brings that up is not considering the fact that we are in the same family. We have our ethics, we work like a family,” he said.

“My Marriage Was Illegally Dissolved” – Emeka Ike.

Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, has spoken about the end of his marriage which was publicized on social media few weeks ago.

According to the actor, he did not sign any document to confirm that he is indeed done with the marriage.

“The court dissolved my marriage illegally; I want people to get it right. For you to dissolve a marriage, the man and his lawyer must be present in court to sign some documents. Ask them, was either my lawyer or myself present in court on that day? Is it possible to say the marriage has been dissolved? My wife says that I am a wife beater but the same woman two years ago in church during counselling, wrote it down that I am a caring man who is selfless and loves his family. She wrote that I love her and my lawyer still has the written note. She made this statement at The Redeemed Assemblies of God church in Magodo, Lagos. Can I possess all these and still beat my wife? Six months later, she began to sing another tune and I know she was advised by some people that it was the only way to leave the marriage.

“The reason why I have not signed the papers is because of the blackmail involved and my name that has been tarnished. She is spoiling my name; I would fight to clear myself of being called a wife beater with everything I have. I hate being referred to as a wife beater because I am not one. Any man that does that does not deserve to be called a father or a man because you are stronger than the woman,” he said.

Emeka, who has custody of his kids, claimed the kids do not want to see their mother.

“My children do not want to see their mother. When my daughter heard she would be taken to Lagos to be with her mother, she was crying profusely because she did not want to go to meet her. The children are scared of her. People have been asking me how my children have been coping with this whole drama but the truth is that they don’t want to see her. If you threaten our daughter that she would go to Lagos to meet her mother, she would cry and do everything you want her to do in the house just because she doesn’t want to see her.

Now my children are suffering emotionally, I even had to pay their matron double the money she asked for to make my children comfortable so they don’t really miss their mother. I am not happy that my daughter does not have a role model. The children are really irritated by their mother. I have a lot of evidence of child abuse against her but I am waiting for the right time to arrest her. Even in court, her son testified against her. She has tried to use the press against me by saying that I am a wife beater but I have never touched her in my life.

This is a real story and not a joke. Her best TV station is the criminal investigation channel; she stays up till 4am to watch the channel for over five years. At first, I used to enjoy watching it with her. She watched the programmes about women who killed their husbands, children, relatives. How would you wake up by 4am and not see your wife on the bed only to go downstairs and see her watching that station as if she is taking notes. I had to ask her if she wanted to kill somebody with the way she watched the station but she just switched off the television, went to her room and slept.

“This is the story of my life. This is a woman whom I brought out of a one room apartment she was living with her mother, the other room was covered with zinc but I built a two-bedroomed apartment for them. I went to her village and built a three-bedroomed apartment for her. I trained her from secondary school to Master’s degree level. Is this how she is supposed to pay me back? No one is looking at all this but they would go online to say that I am bitter. Some men suffer like me but they died for nothing. That is why I dedicated my award to all the men that lost their lives to the women they loved,” he said.

Emeka Ike

On the photo of him and a mystery lady that hit social media days ago, Emeka said:

“People saw a picture of me and a lady together and they have already begun to conclude different things. Love is not a public thing but a private matter, however, the lady I was pictured with is truly a South African and also of a German descent but she is my friend and we took pictures. People should leave it like that. When I want to get married again, everyone would know and that is if there will be anything like that. But at the moment, the lady is just my friend,” he said.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Osun State has reportedly suspended four of its students allegedly said to have engaged in criminal activities.

It’s reported that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, approved their immediate suspension, following the investigation of the police and pending its outcome.

The affected students include Omole Ibukun Ayodele, studying Civil Engineering, Jacob Tosin Grace, in the Faculty of Law. Others are Udeh John, a student in the department of Arts and Social Sciences and one Oluwalade Babatunde, said to be studying English.

Confirming the development, OAU Public Relations Officer, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, in a statement, said,

‘the students, together with other persons, vandalised commercial transport vehicles of the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ile-Ife, and drove two other vehicles to more police stations where other students being interrogated by the police were forcefully released by their group.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, upon careful review of the facts and circumstances of the matter, has come to the inevitable conclusion that the students involved be suspended from the University in the interim, pending police investigation and until such time as the situation shall have been reviewed and resolved’.

Following their alleged misconducts, the students were further ordered “to vacate the campus and are accordingly forbidden to participate in any activity of the University, either within or outside the campus. “The University management has, therefore, advised law-abiding students to concentrate on their studies and shun any act or utterance that is capable of elongating the academic calendar beyond the stipulated period,” the statement read.

A reply to Mark Anthony’s Open Letter to Davido

Few days ago we published an Open Letter to Davido, by Mark Anthony Osuchukwu, If you missed that you can read it below;

Dear Davido, God’s mercy will fall on you on one condition.

It is no more news that a certain David Adeleke loss three of his friends in quick successions–In a space of days.

This raised eyebrows and questions which is very normal. The same way eyebrows are raised when suspicion is present.

DJ Olu of blessed memory was buried today. Davido’s former DJ. May his soul rest in peace.

Olu’s death isn’t as disturbing as that of Tagbo who Nigerians gave the posthumous luxury of “trending” on twitter for three days straight.

Conspiracy theories are flying around like a drunk hawk. People having opinions all of a sudden. People growing clairvoyant as the clock ticks.

I have sat down and thought of Tagbo’s death. It actually reminds me of my father’s death. Till date, nobody knows the exact thing that killed my father.

Different stories for different emotions.

No legit reason!

My mother demanded an autopsy. I didn’t see the need for that. Spending money on things like that wasn’t what I thought of at the time.

An autopsy report won’t resurrect him.

She understood my reason and we moved on.

Everyday, it haunts us. The ignorance of his death. There wasn’t a direct suspect like that of Davido and Tagbo.

The whole world would suspect young Adeleke. If Davido wasn’t the person in this shoe, he would have suspected himself too.
This is not a case of David having enemies of progress. Far from it!

Suspicion isn’t authentic.

It is just something that we hold unto when there isn’t anything to hold on to anymore.

In history, suspicions have panned out to be true. Some others panned out to be heavy lies.

Tagbo’s family and friends are NOT wrong for accusing Davido of whatever they want to accuse him of. The have the right to. David has the right to debunk it with proofs.
Just imagine:
Davido was with him. Some reports said that young men full of life were busy competing for 200k and an iPhone if only 40 shots of tequila will be consumed.

I am sorry but they are all mad. Raving mad for allowing someone who they considered a friend to attempt such nonsense.

The bar or club should be shut down completely and the bar man should be flung behind bars for aiding the death of his fellow young man. The owner of the bar should provide CCTV footage of that evening.
Davido thought that the best thing he could do was to carry the dead body of his friend the hospital and run away.

Forgetting that he’s a star and stars don’t hide at night.

He fled forgetting that things like CCTV cameras existed.

This shows that money isn’t everything. 30 billion can’t buy sense.

He was your friend. Good!

He died out of drinking. Good!
Whatever happened to going to the morgue and keeping him there with your name since he’s your friend and “homie”
How about reporting yourself to the family and the police station?

They know he’s your friend.

Dumping him there and running Was the height of crass stupidity.

His phone is still missing until this day!

Young Adeleke gave the room for suspicion.

This case would have been handled well without social media hearing ‘pim’ if he had reasonable people around him. But sadly he had drunks!

I saw his status on instagram last night.

Honestly, I feel for the kid. This isn’t gonna be easy for him.

Guilty or innocent.

Cases like this can make one lose it completely.

I hope and wish he is innocent.

God’s mercy will only fall on him if he’s clean.

To Tagbo’s loved ones, peace be upon you all.

To Davido, be strong!

Now, Here’s a REPLY to the Open Letter as published by, Emtolalaa Praise.

It’s not bad to have opinions and it’s not bad to sound judgemental and I think some facts need to be spelt out in black and white.

Now let’s be realistic. For me, this case is simple.

Here’s why;

Every weekend in Nigeria, people get drunk. I wouldn’t be wrong to say “everyday “. I’ve watched one myself though I hate the sight of it. So to accuse the management of that bar or the bartender is outrightly wrong and insane. It’s simply business.

There’s a warning on every cigarette packet but then, does it stop people from smoking more than one packet? Hell No! Now Tagbo is an adult and his friends as well.

The drinking competition that for him killed happens every now and then and yes, there’s always a price. It’s just same with other kind of competition or task you’re being put up to just to win something rewarding.

I understand that these acts can be insane most or all of the time, and yes you’d be very correct to see it that way.

However, that was Tagbo’s decision. That Dude was just too slim for God’s sake and his liver couldn’t handle the excess alcohol in his system and of course, I could guess that he had an acute fulminant liver failure, just like what happened right before my eyes when someone gulped the whole liquor in a Hennessy bottle. I cried that night knowing in my heart he wouldn’t make it, though I tried to lend them my 2 kobo sense but then they were all too high to listen to what a Jew like me had to say.

If ever someone have died because of you. You would have understood what FEAR means. So take a chill pill Mr Mark. Don’t make it sound like he did something absolutely wrong. No he didn’t. It was a product of the aftermath of their peaceful and innocent drinking competition that caused the immediate FEAR that put him in that uneasy spot. If it were you , I’m sure your brain would have gone on strike for days before dealing with the reality that someone died because of something you chaired or started.

I am speaking as a neutral person on this matter, giving my thoughts to the issue from every possible angle. I don’t blame Tagbo as well, some of us would have tried that stunt with our lives at stake just for the benefits.

It’s life and it happened and I just hope that this will be a big lesson to all of us especially those that drink like that is their destiny and those that can smoke on behalf of Africa.

Please be wise and let your life and your health be your priority over anything.Just consider it and if it will cost you your good health or at the extreme of it, your life, please my friend stay far from it.

I am Emtolalaa Praise.
Thank you.
