Mixed reactions have trailed news of former security guards-turned-skitmakers, Happie Boys’ alleged deportation from Cyprus to Nigeria.

Recall that ‘Happie boys’, whose real names are Matthew Precious Kelechi and Amakor Johnson, went viral after they were sacked at a restaurant ‘Chicken Republic‘ for dancing on duty, which garnered a lot of sympathy from netizens.

They also gained the sympathy of Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the lead pastor of Omega Power Ministries, who sponsored them to Cyprus to further their education. However, things went south when he couldn’t fund their studies anymore and urged them to return to Nigeria.

They turned down the offer and decided to stay back in Cyprus despite having dropped out of school. Prior to news of their deportation, it was reported that the boys had been arrested in Cyprus and risked deportation.

Sharing an update on their predicament, human right lawyer, Bolanle Cole via x formerly known as Twitter, disclosed that they have been deported and are currently in Abuja.

He wrote in his tweet “BREAKING: Happie Boys deported to Nigeria from Cyprus, they arrived in Nigeria last night and are in one hotel in Utako, Abuja”

Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has expressed her interest in joining the movie industry sometime in the future.

In a recent interview with BBC Capital Xtra London, the Grammy-winning singer expressed her desire to portray solo parts in films.

Tems, who grew up in Lagos as the child of a single mother, asserted that the role should not revolve around her suffering with her child or children.

She said,

“I’m ready to act in movies. Not ready right now but I’m already good at acting. The first character I would love to play is a single mum.

It doesn’t need to be struggling. It could be like a fun single mum or a single mum that has mysteries. A gangster.”

In other news, Tems revealed that she began making music because of her introverted nature and lack of friends.

She explained that her music is meant for people who can relate to her experiences and emotions.

Nigerian singer, Charles Chibuezechukwu, popularly known as Crayon has taken to social media to express his joy and celebrate his labelmate and colleague, Rema, after his Ballon d’Or performance.

Recall that on Monday, October 30, Rema brought pride to Nigerians during his performance at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, France.

The Afrobeat artist turned the gathering into a spectacular performance, leaving attendees speechless with his version of the hit song “Calm Down.”

The singer’s performance at the Ballon d’Or proved to be a historic triumph for Nigeria, as he became the first Afrobeat talent to perform there.

In a widely shared video, Rema could be seen shaking hands with several football stars and icons.

Reacting to the performance, Crayon revealed that he felt chills when Rema shook hands with Mbappe.

Popular Nigerian fashion designer, Veekee James has stated that there is nothing wrong with a celebrity wearing a dress they had previously won to an event.

Speaking in a recent interview, the young businesswoman stated that while it is entirely a personal choice for each public figure, she would not personally wear the same clothing twice.

Veekee explained that if she dresses for an event, she won’t wear the same thing to another occasion because as a fashion stylist, she must constantly show off her creations, and social events are the ideal setting for that.

She stated this in response to a query on the presumption that celebrities shouldn’t wear the same clothing again while they are out in public.

Veekee said;

“I feel it is a personal decision for the celebrity to make. I don’t think it is wrong for someone who is popular to wear an outfit twice. I think it is just a thing with them. I don’t know if I fall into this category, because I will not wear an outfit I have worn to an event to another event. That is because I am a fashion designer.

Every time, I get to showcase another design. There are celebrities I know who wear a particular design different times, but they don’t get to photograph it another time. This is the knowledge that the public has. Since they only see this picture once on a celeb’s social media page, they feel that is how it is. What is the point of photographing the outfit one has worn to an event again when one has already photographed it at a previous event?”

Vee, who has styled actresses like Osas Ighodaro and Funke Akindele, also discussed how she was able to establish a rapport with them.

“I have worked with so many celebrities. For the celebrities, it is more like a fashion designer-to-customer relationship. I think I just have a way of communicating with them. If a person respects me, I respect that person as well.

We just have that cordial relationship. Osas Ighodaro and a few others are close to me and they have been a blessing to my brand, and I have been (a blessing) to theirs too. The person I enjoy working with most will be Osas, because she supports me 100 per cent,” she said.

Policeman who assaulted and stole from skit maker Ekwutousi has been apprehended (VIDEO)

A Nigerian police officer has been arrested for assaulting and robbing a skit maker, Ekwutosi Philo, popularly known as Ekwutosi, in Lagos.

In a video posted recently on her Instagram page, the skit maker narrated everything that transpired between her and the officers.

Explaining the occurrence which took place on the 20th of October, she mentioned that she had parked her car at the side of the road while trying to figure out her destination with the google map.

When she was attacked by some police officers, who kept insisting that she let them in to the car, when she refused, one of the police officers who she identified as Sunday Osagie, forced himself into the car and assaulted her when she went live on Instagram.

She also mentioned that while she was been assaulted, the police officer stopped the car with force, causing her to call for help from people around, few minutes after the officers left she noticed that her purse which contained some foreign currency and naira notes was missing.

She also added that she visited different police station to make a report, but they all denied knowing the officer, telling her that “He’s not from this division” and referring her to other stations.

Reacting to the video, SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the officer had been arrested.

He wrote in the comments,

“This dismissed officer, Sunday Osagie, has been apprehended after over a week on the run.

He was dismissed in April 2023 after being found guilty of engaging in illegal duties amongst other unprofessional conducts.

He will be prosecuted accordingly for impersonating a police officer.”

However Nigerians where shocked to read that the police officer had been dismissed since April but was still operating as an officer.

The incidence has been condemned by many, while others hoped that the skit maker gets justice.

The family of veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu, has shared an update on his health status.

This comes a few weeks after the 62-year-old comic actor revealed that he is battling an undisclosed ailment that may cost him his leg.

In a video shared on October 18th, he said the doctors told him they have exhausted all available options and might resort to amputating his leg. He then appealed to Nigerians to come to his aid financially and with prayers.

Fortunately, many Nigerians came forward to help him and donated funds towards his healthcare.

Sharing an update on his health status, his family took to his official Instagram page to reveal that he has undergone five successful surgeries so far and is currently recuperating in the Intensive Care Unit.

The statement reads,

“We want to thank God and most especially the General public for their support, encouragement, and prayers doing this trying period for our dad.

We called on Good Nigerians and we are very grateful for the response in every aspect most especially the donations, it came in very timely and very helpful.

So far daddy has gone through 5 succesful surgeries, and he is still recovering in the ICU. Daddy is immensely grateful and we are thankful to the general public during this phase of our lives. We appreciate all the donations made to this account, and soon as daddy is better he will personally acknowledge all donations respectively !

Pastor Isaac Oyedepo, the second son of Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, a.k.a Winners Chapel, has finally reacted to alleged reports of resigning from the church.

Recall that social media was set abuzz last week following unconfirmed reports that Isaac, who was recently appointed as the Global Youth Pastor of the church, has resigned and is set to start his own ministry.

Reacting to the rumor, Isaac took to his social media page on Tuesday afternoon, October 31st, to release an official statement to set the records straight.

He emphatically stated that there are no issues between him and his family, particularly his father Bishop David Oyedepo, and maintained that he is still a member of the church.

He further stated that the initial report was not verified by him, and there should be no further publications about the issue.

Nigerian clergyman, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, has caused a significant buzz online after he surprised his wife, Anthonia, with a whopping sum of N55 million in cash on her birthday.

Anthonia celebrated her birthday over the weekend and was honored by her husband and their congregation during the church service on Sunday, October 29.

Moment Hisbah Police raided a hotel in Kano and arrested guests for allegedly lodging there (video)

Operatives of Hisbah police recently stormed a hotel in Kano state to assault and arrest guests for lodging in the facility.

A video making rounds online shows the officers carrying out a raid in the hotel. They were also captured beating and harassing guests as they shoved them at the back of their van.

However, it is currently not clear if those arrested during the raid have been released or are still in police custody.

The incident has stirred an uproar on social media, with many criticizing the Hisbah Police for the inhumane treatment they subjected the guests to simply because they lodged in a hotel.

Nigerian actress and singer, Descushiel, has publicly apologized for forgetting the lyrics while singing the National Anthem at an official event.

Descushiel, who was dressed as a police officer, was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Imo State on Monday, October 30.

However, the singer failed to meet expectations as she kept messing up the lyrics during the event, which was broadcasted live on various TV stations.

A short clip of her performance was shared online and drew a wave of criticism, with many chastising her for not adequately preparing for the event.

Lady narrates terrible experience with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law while she was in labour

A Nigerian lady has shared her harrowing experience in the hands of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law when she was in labour.

The lady, whose husband is based abroad, revealed that she endured protracted labor for three days and was advised to undergo a cesarean section (C-section).

She contacted her husband to send money for the procedure, and he sent N300,000 to his mother without informing her. He also sent N150,000 to his sister for baby items.

She endured severe pain in the labor room while trying to have a vaginal delivery because the hospital required payment before performing the C-section.

Unable to bear the pain any longer, she offered her sister’s land document as collateral to convince the hospital to proceed with the operation. Tragically, the baby did not survive, presumably due to the delay.

After waking up from the procedure, she confronted her husband, who revealed that he sent the money to his mother and sister as a precaution incase something happened to her.

Infuriated by this, she confronted her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, who confirmed that they indeed received the funds.

She requested the money to settle the hospital bill, but they refused to release it because the baby did not survive, forcing her to use her sister’s land document to cover the expenses.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry file lawsuit against magistrate and police; demand N40m

Controversial singer Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Samson Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, have taken legal action by filing a fundamental rights suit against their continued detention in relation to the death of fellow singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.

The lawsuit filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos, names the police and Lagos magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, who ordered their 21-day remand in police custody, as defendants.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry are seeking N20 million in damages from the defendants.

Their lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Ojo (SAN), submitted the suit, urging the court to declare that their ongoing detention at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command’s Panti, Yaba, violated their rights.

They are also requesting an immediate release.

According to the affidavits attached to their suits, their ordeal began on October 3 and 4, 2023, when they were apprehended by the police based on alleged connections to the death of Mohbad.

On October 4, the Commissioner of Police sought an order from the Magistrates’ Court in Yaba to remand them for 30 days. Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun granted the police’s application, but only for a 21-day remand.

Remarkably, the 21-day remand order, which expired on October 26, 2023, has not been renewed.

A young lady has been caught purchasing a case for a phone she had allegedly stolen from the same shopping complex.

The store owners who were shown attacking the woman said that she had taken the phone from their establishment, even though it was unclear how she had obtained it in the first place.

The woman apparently went back to the same location to get a new phone pouch before her good fortune ran out and she was apprehended.

In the video shared online, the woman is shown getting physically assaulted while being questioned.

This stirred a range of reactions from netizens, who opined that the police should have been called to intervene instead.

Some netizens have taken to social media to lambaste Lagos International Airport, for the inconvenience it puts families and friends of travelers through.

Sharing their individual experience via the microblogging platform, x (twitter) with many of them promising not to use the airport again.

It all started when Nigerian blogger Noble Igwe posted a picture of people sitting outside of the Lagos International Airport accompanied with the caption “I really don’t understand the idea behind asking families that have come to pick people from the airport to stand on the road. Sensational Nigerian chef and restauranteur, Hilda Baci, has revealed in great detail the strained relationship she had with her father and how he disowned her.

The late Mohbad’s wife, Omuwunmi, has stated that she is prepared to respond to the numerous accusations of paternity fraud made against her following the death of her husband.

She claimed that she would hold off on speaking until the coroner’s inquest, which is scheduled for November 7, 2023.

Recall that she was accused by Mohbad’s family, friends, and colleagues of being involved in the singer’s demise.

Omowunmi, who has a child with the singer named Liam, said she will also address calls for her to conduct a DNA test on their son.

She sent a message to actress Iyabo Ojo, who has been actively monitoring the case to ensure justice is done, to inform her of her plans.

Iyabo Ojo took to her Instagram page to share a screenshot of the message from Omowunmi. In it, Omowunmi stated that all she wants is for justice to prevail for her late husband, Mohbad.

Iyabo captioned the message,

“To everyone who wants to hear from Mohbad’s wife, this is her response.. Ikeja General Hospital, please, we hope that by the 7th of November 2023, the next date for the coroner inquest, the full autopsy results will be out.

We’re not giving up on this justice for Mohbad, no matter the dragging, noise makers or distractions, Furthermore, she declared that doing a DNA test on her son is a must.”

A Nigerian architect has shared on social media, via his Twitter page, how he narrowly escaped being killed by a stray bullet while working in his home.

The netizen whose username is @_ayooluwaleyi shared the news by quoting a tweet from a fellow x user, who asked people to share their good news and testimonies.

The architect mentioned that he was working on his laptop when he got a call from a friend which caused him to stop working and relax on his seat.

According to him, he heard a sound and felt something fly past him from his roof, landing on the table. When he checked, it turned out to be a bullet.

The tweep also attached a chat from October 14th between him and a friend, in which his friend mentioned having a bad dream and advised that they pray together.

When asked by netizens if he had an idea where the bullet came from, he replied by saying “No clue. I asked around to find out if the security men heard gunshots, nada. I had so many questions, but I’ve let them go. I’m just thankful.”

Concluding, he thanked God for sparing his life and advised netizens to intensify more in prayers.

Nigerian businesswoman, Maureen Esisi has shared on her Instagram page screenshots of a message she received from an online bully.

The message which was sent by a foreign number, contained a lot of hate speech, name calling and death wishes.

Maureen Esisi who was formerly married to Nigerian actor Blossom Chukwujekwu before they divorced in 2019, captioned the screenshots with “Years later n I still get death threats!!! One day soon Yall will hear my story!”

A part of the message reads,

“Dirty pig Ashawo you wa no fit even born again. You will die not even having a child in this world. You think u living the life vanity upon vanity. We are here watching u fool. While preaching in her church recently, the yet-to-be-identified pastor advised single women to ‘package’ themselves well if they want to attract a partner.

She admonished them to be friendly, maintain a smiling disposition, and go out frequently to increase their chances of being noticed.

Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has taken to social media to gleefully mock self-proclaimed sex therapist and aphrodisiac seller, Jaruma, following reports that she is in rehab.

News circulated over the weekend that Jaruma is receiving treatment at a rehabilitation facility in Karu, Abuja, due to alleged substance abuse. It was also alleged that she is always demanding for coitus.

Upon learning of this update, Seun, one of the sons of music legend Fela Kuti, went online to express his excitement over Jaruma’s current predicament.

New reports have claimed that American-Canadian actor, Matthew Perry, died lonely and yearning for a wife and family.

A source, who shared this sad detail with DailyMail, mentioned that the actor had experienced a series of failed relationships that left him feeling sad and depressed.

The 54-year-old actor was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 28, apparently due to drowning.

He reportedly played two games of pickleball earlier in the day before sending his assistant out on an errand. However, upon their return, they found him unresponsive in his hot tub.

Close sources have now revealed that Perry had a strong desire to be married and have children or stepchildren, which was influenced by his close relationship with his stepfather, Keith Morrison.

Matthew was never married and had ended his engagement to talent manager Molly Hurwitz in 2021. Throughout his life, he was also romantically linked with several well-known actresses, including Julia Roberts and Lizzy Caplan.

The source, who was close to the Friend’s star said,

Matthew always dreamed of having the perfect family. He wanted a wife, and at least a couple of kids. And he said he wouldn’t even mind marrying a woman who already had kids.

In a shocking turn of events last night, the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) became the target of suspected political thugs, who set the building ablaze.

The incident unfolded amidst rumors of an impending impeachment motion against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and House Leader Edison Ehie.

Under the cover of darkness, a group of individuals arrived in a white Hilux van and overpowered the security personnel stationed at the assembly complex on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

The assailants then proceeded to carry out the audacious act, leaving the building engulfed in flames.

Reports suggest that the lawmakers had allegedly finalized plans to commence the impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and House Leader Ehie during today’s session.

The exact reasons behind this move remain undisclosed at this time.

However, sources indicate that tensions may be brewing between the governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.

Following the incident, security reinforcements have been deployed to the assembly complex.

Over 17 security trucks and four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) are now stationed at the site, manned by more than 50 federal security personnel.

As investigations unfold, the people anxiously await more information regarding the motives behind the assault and the potential repercussions it may have on the political state of the region.

The authorities are urged to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and restore calm and order within the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Popular Nollywood actor, Williams Uchemba, has dished out a piece of advice to women who are dating and planning to marry men comfortable with being unemployed while relying on them to provide for the family.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Williams advised such women to seriously reconsider their choices because it’s a significant red flag.

He emphasized that men naturally have the desire to provide for their families, and if that drive is absent, then there is a huge problem.

He also recounted an instance when he visited his wife, then-girlfriend, in the UK and noticed that she was the one buying household items. According to him, he had to stop her and instructed her to ask him for money for those things instead.

Popular Nollywood actress, Destiny Etiko, has set tongues wagging online after sharing a teaser of her latest movie featuring her senior colleague, Uwa Ezuoke.

In the movie titled ‘Shege Banza,’ the self-styled ‘Drama doll’ shared numerous romantic scenes with Uwa Ezuoke, who played the role of her husband.

In the short clip, the on-screen couple was seen walking to an outdoor bathroom, after which they removed their wrappers and hung them on the door, implying that they bathed together.

Nigerian medical doctor uses his personal experience to highlight the difference in how men speak to women versus men

A Nigerian medical doctor has shared his personal experience to point out the stark difference in the way men address women versus men.

Taking to the microblogging platform X, the man recounted a situation in which he caught himself being rude to a female customer care representative but changed his tone when speaking to a male representative.

He explained that this incident gave him a better understanding of the ‘misogyny’ women often complain about, and he felt ashamed.

He added that even in the hospital, patient’s relatives tend to be rude to female medical officers but are usually polite to male medics.

The X user, with the handle @Okkevwe, further urged people to be more conscious of how they treat women in contrast to their male counterparts.

“I remember calling Airtel customer when I first moved back to Nigeria. I was angry and yelling at a female call rep. The call disconnected, and I called back. This time, a man answered. I realised halfway through the conversation that I was now speaking in a calmer tone.
