Inspector General of Police gives update on Kidnapper Evans

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has revealed that kidnapper Evans will be charged to court soon.

According to Idris, the delay in Evans’ prosecution is due to police investigations to track down his accomplices within and outside the country.

Idris who spoke at a seminar recently said,

“Evans will be charged to court very soon. This is a man who has over the years been involved in kidnapping, collecting money in millions of dollars and harassing Nigerians from the various parts of the country.

“What we are doing now is to ensure that we conduct thorough investigations so that anybody involved will be brought to book.

“It seems kidnapping is becoming attractive to the youth. The more we arrest, the more they are coming up. But I believe that with special courts, this will be addressed.” He said plans were underway to recruit more policemen to effectively pursue the principle of community policing.

“We need the cooperation of the public. There is no way we can succeed without their cooperation. We need the National Assembly to give a positive view of the Police Trust Fund and I believe with that, we can change the image of the police in the country,” he added.

Prophet Heals Lady With Absent Menstrual Flow After 12 Years, Sisters Run Insane Immediately [PHOTOS]

Just as a Man of God, Prophet Henry Osasere was reported to have healed a lady who has had ceased menstrual flow since her age of 18 years in Delta state, the sister who accompanied her to the church went psychotic instantly.

The woman had been barren since 12 years ago in spite of Amenorrhea.

The Man of God, Prophet Henry Osasere laid hands on the lady and pray that the person responsible for her situation should run mad, immediately the senior sister who brought her to the church ran mad instantly.”

To add, this can not be confirmed to be fictional as the named Pastor Osasere didn’t react against this piece.

Chiwetalu Agu to Fulanis – when the fire of God that burns comes, it will roast all of you.”

Chiwetalu Agu

Popular Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu who weighed in on Biafra agitation also warned Hausas and Fulanis over alleged ‘ill treatment’ of Igbos in Nigeria, in a recent interview.

The actor said;

“Whatever they want to do to the Igbos, this country Nigeria, let them do. But I want to warn the Hausas, the Fulani’s and others, take it easy. Because when the fire of God that burns comes, it will roast all of you.”

“If you want to know who you are oppressing, compare us to the Israelites. We are the people of God. Pharaoh was begged to leave the Israelites to go, Pharaoh refused, what happened later?”
Chiwetalu Agu reprimanded the northerners over Igbo investments in the region, he said;

“You the northerners, where were you when Igbos were building hotels and different things. Where were you, people? You people were asleep, busy eating money gotten from Niger Delta and you have the mouth to say Igbos should leave, if it is done that way, Hunger will kill you people”

“President Buhari To Return Next Week”- Senator Ben Bruce

President Muhammadu Buhari

Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce yesterday, hinted that President Muhammadu Buhari was expected back in the country next week.

In an interview with Vanguard, he complained about the continued hardship in Nigeria and how the country was lagging behind in its development.

According to him,

“Nigeria has not really made any progress in the last 2 years. I think we are in big trouble right now.
“When the President gets back, we would need to sit down with him and have a conversation. There is no point having a conversation with anybody who is not a president.
“I am thinking the Senate. We will have a conversation. A bipartisan team will go and meet with Mr. President and have a conversation with him. Not APC senators meeting the president but the Senate meeting him and have a conversation on the future of Nigeria.
“That’s what I am gonna propose. That we sit down with him and discuss the issues. He’s the president and you can’t change that and I respect constitutional authority. He is the President of Nigeria and we will sit down with him and discuss the problems facing the country.
“In 2019 when there is another president, that will no another issue. But right now, he is the president and we need to sit down with him and discuss the issues. I understand he will be here next week.
“Let’s talk to the President directly. I think it is important to speak with the President Buhari.”

How this notorious scammer duped unsuspecting ladies with marriage scam (photos)

notorious scammer

More updates have emerged concerning Maxwell Olusegun Adegbenro, who was arrested for impersonation – as it has been revealed that he also impersonated other people in order to dupe his victims which were mainly ladies.

The young man allegedly collected close to N1 million from two ladies in Ibadan, Oyo State, promising them marriage. Adegbenro, is presently being detained at Agugu Police Station, Ibadan for collecting N500,000 from one Olubode Nifemi Kikelomo, claiming to be younger brother of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Media Aide, Lere Olayinka.

According to multiple online reports, he was also said to have collected N300, 000 from another Ibadan based lady, Titilayo Akinola.

Olubode Nifemi, a make-up artist and entertainer was said to have set Adegbenro up and got him arrested, using another lady, Ronke Gold.

When contacted, Lere Olayinka said;

“Sometimes in July, popular singer, Yinka Ayefele called me and said that a young lady came to his radio station in Ibadan to report a case of one Sayo Adegbenro, duping her of N500,000.

“I was made to talk to the lady on phone and she narrated how the said Sayo Adegbenro told her that I was his uncle and that she spoke with me on phone twice. I told her that I do not know the said Sayo Adegbenro and I did not speak with anyone on phone.

“I then told the lady that she had been duped and that she should find means of locating the said Sayo Adegbenro. It was this morning that I was told that he had been arrested and other ladies are also coming up with claims that he scammed them too.”

‘I Resigned From Church Because I Want To Make Heaven When I Die’ – Nigerian Catholic Priest Says

Catholic Priest

The consistent Rev. Father Patrick Edet, of the Catholic Diocese of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, who hosts a weekly Christian programme ‘Grace and Inspiration’ in Akwa Ibom state has recently dropped a rude shock to all in the state by declaring his resignation.

After 11 years of service, Rev. Father Patrick Edet made his resignation known in his usual programme on Planet 101.1FM.

The Catholic Priest noted that peace has long departed from him and there was need for him to take the immediate action.

On that live programme, he said:

“On 31 of July, I resigned from my services, my duties and obligations as a Catholic priest.

“I ceased to be a Catholic priest in my thinking, in my spirit, in my soul, (and) in my body.

“Yesterday, the 1st of August, was my first day outside the laws, the regulations, (and) the authority of the Catholic church.

“In my mind, every law that bound me bound me because I submitted myself to the Catholic Church as an institution.

“Having submitted my resignation letter to my authorities in the Catholic Church, in my spirit, soul and body, I am free from every law that guided me. I submit myself to one authority – God,” he said.

“Peace has been taken away from me for years. I live in fear and in doubt. Sometimes I doubt myself – am I really right, am I in the right place.”

Rev. Father Edet’s shocking resignation from ministry is hinged on the constraint he has to develop an intimate relationship with God. He complained that Catholic had not given enough space to explore service to God fully.

“A box is already made for you and you cannot go outside that
box,” he noted.

“You cannot know God beyond that box. You cannot express God beyond that box. And any attempt for you to go beyond that box brings you label.

“The God that I have discovered in life is a God that cannot be fully known. That God is a God that cannot be fully predicted and cannot be fully captured in human expression otherwise he will cease to be a mystery. That is a God I have come to accept as my God.

“I have come to realise that serving that God you need freedom. When that freedom is limited you cannot fully serve that God.

“Each time I tried to cross the line, the thing I meet crushes me on the inside and makes me feel guilty. But I cannot stop doing it. There’s a pull inside of me telling me there is more, and life was meant to be more and that more is found in freedom in God”, the priest further mentioned.

On the repercussions of leaving church, he is precise about an anticipated end for himself.

“The reason I am doing this is that I want to be right with God first. I want to go to heaven when I die.

“It is not the Church that called me, it is God who called me that is above the Church, and my interest is to be right with Him first and have peace with Him first”, he ended

“Dear girls, If your veejay smells like any of these, something is terribly wrong”

A woman’s vagina is meant to smell. Well, at least not in any way offensive. Physicians say a woman’s vagina is filled with different types of (good) bacteria and that each woman’s “smell” is completely different and unique to them — just like the vaginas themselves in terms of shapes and sizes.

“Some women’s vaginas may naturally smell stronger than others – and all of this is completely normal,” experts say.

However, there are some things a woman’s nether regions can smell like that can be a bit off – and can be a sign of a health issue. The following are the five smells you need to look out for:

1. It smells like … yeast. While yeast infections don’t often smell, if you notice a thick, cottage cheese-like discharge, this could be a sign of infection. Your vagina will also be itchy and could be red. So, it’s best to see a doctor.

2. It smells … musky. If you have exercised recently or are wearing non-breathable underwear, this can cause a musky scent from the trapped sweat. This should go away once you have a shower; but to minimise the scent, don’t sit around in sweaty clothes.

3. It smells like … fish. If it smells like you brought the fish market home with you, this is the most common scent that points towards bacterial vaginosis. This is the most common vaginal infection in women between ages 15 and 44. It occurs when the vagina’s pH levels are thrown off by an overgrowth of “bad” bacteria – but it’s not a sexually transmitted disease and is mostly harmless.

4. It smells … metallic. This one is no cause for concern, as it will generally happen when a woman gets her period. Blood can change the pH levels of a vagina and make it smell coppery. This odour should pass once the period ends. Avoid scented soaps, as this will throw off your pH balance even more.

5. It smells … rotten. This would normally happen if a tampon has accidentally been left in for a few days or more. If you can’t get the tampon out yourself, head to the doctor and they can get it out for you. However, something to be wary of is toxic shock syndrome which is a fatal condition linked to the tampon being left in for too long, Daily Star says.

Defamation Of Character: BroadwayAfrica TV Reacts To Ronke Oshodi Oke’s Claim

Ronke OSHODI OKE

The popular Nollywood actor, Ibironke-Ojo Anthony also known as Ronke Oshodi Oke had recently taken to social media to allude that her interview with BroadwayAfrica TV was misrepresented  and taken out of context making it seem defamatory to her character.

The interviewer, BroadwayAfrica TV has now responded as well to the claim of the Nollywood star that the media house is making attempts to tarnish her reputation.

In a former report from YabaLeftOnline.com on this trending story, Ronke Oshodi Oke  tearfully and with curses reacted to a viral video of the interview which was incomplete and covering only the part of her claiming she can’t be submissive or cook for a husband who can’t be fully financially responsible in the family.

In parts, she said:

if she were the breadwinner of her family, she wouldn’t cook for her husband.

“It’s not because we don’t want to be in our husband’s house or we are not submissive enough. I am going to pay the NEPA bill if you don’t have. I will do some certain things if you don’t have. So, you now come and expect me to cook for you to eat. It’s not going to work. It is just not going to work,” she said, explaining that role reversals should take place in cases where the woman takes on family responsibilities.

“If you are the man and you do absolutely everything, that’s when you can have total control [over] your wife.”

In reaction to the viral video which covered just that quoted part, she purported that Broadway Tv misrepresented her interview and expressed displeasure over that.

In a statement released by Broadway TV, the media house detached itself from such claim saying:

“Ronke Ojo released series of videos on social media in reaction to her interview released on our YouTube Channel, Broadway TV (Broadway Africa TV). She said the good things she had said during the interview were “Edited” out. She also said she was quoted out of context and we wanted to tarnish her image.

While we cannot dictate to Ronke Oshodi Oke her feeling or her reaction to comment, we can say without any iota of doubt that her submissions were not true. She was not in any way misquoted, and she wasn’t playing or joking with the interviewer and cameraman.

The interview wasn’t “edited” in any way to make her look bad.  We are open to “Aunty” Ronke pointing out in specific the areas she felt aggrieved in the interview.

We know for a fact that her theatrical reactions were as a result of comments on Instablog and some personal reactions from the people around her. It is however not right in any way for her to misrepresent fact by saying Broadway TV did not ‘edit’ the interview well.

We have absolutely nothing against Ronke Oshodi Oke and we wish her well.”

Inside Lagos Strip Clubs: What they do, the fun, fantasy & dangers

By Romanus Okoye

Weird, wacko, inordinate choice, just anything; such opinions matter little to her. For 28 year old Anastasia, tall, chocolate colour, endowed with well rounded mammary glands and other feminine attributes that are the nemesis of men, it appears nothing will separate her from the love of strip dancing. The young golden-haired lady is indeed hooked on her chosen profession.

With gusto, she declares, “I love it die. Strip dancing brings out the weirdness in me, especially when I see men watch with open mouths and salivate as if they could devour me any moment. It fills me with sense of power to get such rapt attention; only God knows what goes on in their minds. For me, I just do my thing, have fun, get paid and move on.” Ann as she is simply called, however, objected to her picture being taken. “Nobody knows I do this; even my parents or relatives do not know. Even the name I told you was not my real name. It is my business name. But that’s how I make ends meet.”

Strip clubs everywhere

Strip clubs are not new in Lagos. What is new is how the clubs are invading nooks and crannies of the centre of excellence. In 2009, some of these clubs were closed by a Task Force for operating in residential areas without permit. But they were later reopened when the state lawmakers felt that there was nothing illegal about the business.

That action may have emboldened the operators. Investigations by Saturday Sun showed that places like Igando, Ikotun, Egbe, Ajegunle, Okokomaiko, Egbeda, Festac now have enough dose of hotels that operate their own kind of strip club.

At Igando, very close to the main bus stop, is Oxygen Bar and Lounge; close to Iba Estate on Iyana – Iba – Isheri expressway, you find Ibuoye.

When this reporter visited Egbe town after hostel bus stop on Ikotun-Egbe road, some young ladies between the ages of 18 and 30 years were seen hanging around. But investigation showed that those ones were resident prostitutes. “I am not a strip dancer”, Beauty, one of the ladies told Saturday Sun , “I hustle here. I have my room inside. I can’t dance Unclad before all these men. When a man wants to see me, we go inside my room and do it”.

On further probing, Beauty said, short time ranges between N1000 and N3000 depending on what the man wants in addition. “The strip dancers come from outside. They are paid around N10,000. And they make more money from the men who sometimes do it with them at the dance floor.”

In these hotels, it is common to see banners hanged at their gates, lavishly designed with photographs of half clad ladies. “The banners are not mere advertisement puff,” a bar tender told Saturday Sun. “They are tips of the iceberg of the real stuff we can offer. Our girls are carefully selected for maximum satisfaction,” he said. At Ibuoye where a bottle of beer that sells for N300 in the ordinary bar, goes at double the price inside the club, a service boy told the reporter that some of the girls seen were the strippers but were waiting till the club starts proper around 12am to change into their performance regalia.

What they do

Strip dancing also known as pole dancing is about skimpily dressed ladies smooching a silvery pole with ease and twisting their body seductively in a manner of dancing; engaging in erotic dance steps packaged in a manner that the largely male audience can’t resist.

Occasionally, the girls pull up their bikinis and lingerie, revealing sexy and sensuous cleavages to the delight of the male dominated watchers. Aside wriggling around the poles, the half nude girls also serve their patrons with lap dance which is sitting on a client’s lap while performing seductive acts. It was learnt that during the clubbing, sometimes the dancers, when given enough tips, have MouthAction with guests.

The girls go extra miles to entertain their guests; exhibiting daring tendencies towards clients as they throw themselves at men with ease, allowing free handling which in most highbrow strip bars are not allowed. While servicing a client, male or female, as women also visit strip clubs, especially the highbrow ones, such client is expected to generously stuff money in the girl’s bra and pant. The price differs; but the more, the merrier, for maximum pleasure; as liberal spray of good naira or dollar notes ensures the dancer stays longer with such generous client.

Investigation showed that strip dancing appears to have become a fad, a sort of selling advantage; such that most hotels in these suburbs now operate their own brand of strip club. In most of the hotels visited, there were no elaborate decorations like in the ones in the highbrow areas. At Egbe city, plastic chairs were part of the seats seen at the VIP floor with seven dancing poles. Any space usually demarcated from the main open bar, with coloured bulbs could do.

“After all, what makes strip club tick is the liquor and the lewd dancers”, Elias, a patron of strip club said. “Forget about all those high brow clubs that charge exorbitant prices for the same thing.

If I can catch my fun around here at a cheaper rate why waste so much money elsewhere?”
Before the proliferation of strip clubs; it was only in places like Ikeja, Opebi, Ikoyi, Victoria Island that you find clubs like The Cave, Millenium Koko, Wall Street Bar, Ocean Blues, Unique Club etc.

Patrons of such places are mainly the upper class; people with deep pockets. To gain access into the main place attracts about N5,000 as gate fee. This does not, however, cover the cost of drink or the cost of lap dances the client may be treated to. On a good day, lap dance costs between N3,000 and N5,000. Being at the VIP section costs between N20,000 to N30, 000. The drinks still don’t come cheap. For instance, a bottle of Malt or Smirnoff Ice sells for N800; a bottle of stout and other beers go for between N1,000 and N2,500 . The cost of wine and spirits range from N10,000.

Saturday Sun learnt that one of the clubs, Unique Club even published a magazine called Unique Babes. In it, the female dancers’ seductive photographs were displayed with reckless abandon. Some of the clubs have girls who are partly quartered in rooms in which willing clients can have ‘full’ blast sexual experience with any girl of their choice.

For this service, the client would part with about N6,000 to the club as rent and about the same amount to the girl for her service. For instance, Millennium Koko said to parade the largest number of strippers, who claim to be undergraduates; aside the conventional nightclubbing has suites for customers who wish to relax after having enjoyed the strip dance.
Investigations showed that some of these girls indeed raise money through this means to pay their school fees and take care of their needs; but many are just out of greed and living weird life. “Many are girls who come from broken homes and lacked parental guidance.

Most of these strip dancers have one funny story another. They either claim to have poor parents or being in need of school fees. All I know is that it is a weird life. How can a lady created by God expose her body and allow men to do all sorts of things with her? And it is painful because these girls are indeed very beautiful. May be some of them are possessed by demons,” Paul who said he was visiting for the first time out of curiosity told Saturday Sun.

One of the girls, Chi claims poverty drove her into her choice of profession; that she was an undergraduate in one of the universities in Lagos. According to her, the only way to get out of the doldrums was to do what she is doing and see herself through her education.

Why men patronise strip clubs

Ikechukwu, a respondent shared his experience why men patronise strip clubs. “Men patronise strip clubs because there’s a 100% guarantee that there will be women there with no clothes. Any man who denies that this is the most important reason should ask himself whether he would still go there if 60-year-old men were the ones taking off their clothes.

“Men love to see women’s bodies. The more they see, the better. In a strip club, they don’t have to ask, beg. Another reason is that these men are living a secret affair with no strings attached. Men usually fantasise about beautiful women; they see beautiful women as the epitome of successful dating. By seeing women of equivalent beauty that are completely nude and seemingly vulnerable, going to a strip joint allows them to get closer to that fantasy. It is like a live version of the sexual escapades men dream about at night. It isn’t cheating, but the thought of engaging one of the women does cross the minds of most men.”

For 26 year old Patrick, “My girlfriend gets tired of having sex with me. She won’t admit it. But it’s true, particularly after a long day of work. My urges, though, never subside. I literally see pink everywhere and I have to find a way to release it.

Otherwise, I’ll go crazy and just think about sex until my head explodes. I think my girlfriend would also break up with me because she would feel too much like a sex doll. I’m doing us all a favour. I know no one will believe me, but my desire for women is like a disease. ”

Chika, 35 year old trader, said, “the kind of girl guys like me want to find at a strip club is a unicorn. She doesn’t exist in real life. Actually, she doesn’t exist in the club once they turn the lights on.

It’s all an illusion of sexiness, whereas my wife is a real person that I love till death do us part or whatever. When I hit a club I don’t even feel like I’m cheating at all. I’m in a fantasy. I don’t expect my wife to understand this and I don’t even try to explain to her what going to a club is like for me. She would not take it the right way and freak out over nothing.”

For Sebastine, 45 year old fashion consultant: “As I think about this, I don’t think I can really justify my relationship with strip clubs except to just straight-up admit I chase paid pussy like an addict. If you have the money to be with all these beautiful women, why not take advantage of it? Like who wouldn’t? What is wrong with you? I’m sure your wife is hot, but look so are a million other women you’ve never seen before. It is just a taste of varieties, another justification is just that almost all rich people do this; most celebrities engage in it. They really do particularly the rich and famous because the only way they get their kicks is to just ensure the transaction is a transaction, among other reasons. It’s sort of sad but most of the time it’s just the ultimate luxury. It’s a shame there is such a stigma about it by the public.”

Bankole, another respondent said, “Because of my work I travel a lot to Japan, Germany, Vietnam, I’ve been all over. Each and every place I got I end up going to a strip club with the guys from whatever branch I’m visiting. My wife knows that I go and I’ve always justified it to her by saying that I’m expected to go and that it would put everything we’ve built together at risk if I snubbed these guys. All that’s true but I have to admit that when drunk I’ve made more than my fair share of poor decisions and I’ve cheated nearly half a dozen times over the last year. But I figure as long as I love my wife and I’m playing it safe then what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”

Osita, a guy in his mid thirties, said, “I don’t really enjoy a strip club. I’d much rather be at a bar than paying someone for sex. Paying for sex is stupid. I genuinely believe this. But surprisingly, I still find myself at strip clubs at least 3-4 times a year and blowing my whole pay chque.”

“I was offered six movie roles, for six rounds of sex” – Actress Juliet Odigwe

Delectable Nollywood Actress, Juliet Patrick Odigwe in a chat with The Sun has revealed how a certain popular movie producer in Owerri, Imo state asked her for about six rounds of sex for six movie roles.. That’s a round per movie role.

Juliet, who hails from Anambra spoke to The Sun, and revealed thta she declined the offer, adding that producers in the industry would go extra miles to sleep with upcoming actresses.

She said, “A production manager I met in Owerri came to me and said: ‘Babe, you are so good.

“I’ll give you six good jobs that can blow you to stardom, but after the six jobs, all I need from you are six good rounds of sex in return’. I gave him an outright ‘no’.

“I told him I could only take him for shopping when he makes me a star.

“However, it didn’t end well. Although, he got me two good jobs, I kept reminding him that I could only take him out for shopping. He was pissed off and that was the end of the matter. He stopped calling me for jobs.”

Juliet, a graduate of Linguistics, added, “Some producers won’t come straight to ask you for sex, they will begin by telling you how they love you, how they want to marry you and all kinds of love stories just to get into your pants.

“It has not really been easy for me but once one is good, then it’s not really that difficult to hit stardom.

“Some up and coming actresses actually throw themselves easily and cheaply at these producers, directors and marketers, so they think everybody is the same.

“If you complain too much, they de-cast you in a twinkle of an eye, telling you there are a thousand and one girls ready to pay huge amount for the role you just got free.”

She further lamented how she lost her boyfriend after intimating him of her intentions to join the movie industry.

She said, “Sadly, my boyfriend broke up with me when I decided to join the movie industry fully. So, I have no boyfriend wahala for now.”

“Some actors are gays..they came for my anus and I refused” — Jude Orhorha Rants

Yet another Nollywood actor is leveling accusations on his contemporaries and this time it is none other than Jude Orhorha.

Speaking with Punch, the actor attributed some of his male colleagues’ successes to homosexuality and philandering.

According to him, he was super successful in the 80’s more than the talents he is jostling for space with today, and he thinks the reason why his colleagues today are doing better is because of dubious practices.

The actor even went on to brag about the functionality of his anus. “My anus is an exit point and not an entrance,” he ranted, and then went on to brag about the ‘sugar mummies’ whose sexual advances he rejected.

Jude is also deeply upset with folks in the industry who ‘package’ themselves and live above their means. He doesn’t say if the said folks borrow their luxuries from him, but he is just angry with all of them for ‘packaging’ themselves. Full stop.

Read his rants:

“I know what some actors and actresses did to gain the fame that they are enjoying now. Some of the men in the industry are gay while the women sleep around and that is why I am not bothered about where I am today. When it is your time, it is your time. Some entertainers are opportunist while others are born lucky. Omotola was born lucky from day one; her first character was a lead role. Some people marry for money and not love. That is why I am not really bothered because some of the guys are gigolos. They do not make their money from the movie industry but from the gigolo business. I cannot do such because I have a name to protect. In the 80s when I started this business, none of them was anywhere to be found. I have seen it all and I refuse to join them. Gays have approached me but I declined their offers because my anus is an exit point and not an entrance. The same thing with sugar mummies but I refused to accept their proposal because I cannot sleep with married women. I believe in karma. If it does not happen to you, it would happen to your generation.

“How much were we being paid in the past compared to what we are earning now? When we started, the money was not really there and that is why we were more interested in the show and not the business because there was no money.

“There is another thing called ‘packaging’ and that is what I am against. I am not saying that entertainers should not package but they should do so according to their means. Some ‘package’ to the extent that they borrow people’s cars and clothes. It just doesn’t make sense. Some people ‘package’ till they run into debts and then when the money comes, they clear the debts.”

“Dear Nigerian youths, grow some balls”

Dear Nigerian youths

Dear Nigerian youths, grow some balls.

A generation that is unwilling to leave their comfort zones to challenge convention shouldn’t be taken serious.

We are that generation. Take it or leave it. We are comfortable in our zones. Instagram zone, whatsapp zone, twitter zone, facebook zone and sometimes friend zone. We revere stagnation that disguised itself looking like ‘minding my business’

Weeks ago, I heard that the bill for young people to run for office panned out well. I was elated in all honesty.
But, I was scared too. Or rather bothered. Running isn’t the problem. The problem is the destination you are running to. A headless chicken could arguably run faster that a ‘headful’ chicken. The issue isn’t your pace. It is your direction, balls and determination.

With the little idea I have with the politics of this country, you cannot run your political race without some potbelied thief telling you how to run. The godfather syndrome that downplays progress. That is why most of our leaders are obviously puppets with portfolios and security agents that follow them up and down.

Think of it: we are feeble. We are scared to say the truth. We lack balls. The only place we have balls is to snatch somebody’s girlfriend or boyfriend. The balls aren’t channelled positively. Fear rules our generation. The kind of fear that shouts “I am not afraid of you” this moment and the next moment it is asking you if you cannot be played with.

Days ago, I wrote an open letter to our president who ran away and refused to resign.

I got mails from young people telling me to be careful. Some said I should not write about the government because they may kill me. I laughed at that particular mail and replied the person telling him that anyone afraid of death isn’t living. You can’t be allergic to knowledge and enrol in a school. Even if you do, you are wasting your time. You aren’t schooling.

A well meaning woman inboxed me also and told me that I lack respect for my elders. I felt terrible not because of the fart she sent me as a message.

I felt terrible because this respect thing is what these old people have used in holding us hostage inside this mess.

Respect? Really? Respect is an award given to people who respect themselves. You don’t respect a dog that you managed to give the luxury of sleeping on your bed yet it shits on your sheets.

Such dogs should not even see the next day.

But no, Nigerian youths will follow the footsteps of an old man leading them to doom because culture said you shouldn’t challenge an elder.

Listen, an elder that is not ready to answer your questions and listen to your opinions doesn’t deserve attention. Send him or her to old people’s home. They shouldn’t interfere with public matters.
We need to purge our ideologies of things and reason with our God-given brains. We need a paradigm shift urgently.

I wonder how God feels when he looks at this country full of people who refused to use the brain he gave them as higher animals.
********

Tomorrow, a young person will decide to run for office and his slogan will be: “taking back our country from the millennials”.

But at night, he will sneak into the house of a millennial with costly wines kneeling down like an animal begging for ticket or anything they beg for. This is why they don’t take us serious.

This is our collective responsibility. We should support ourselves. We should lose the excess overweight of sentiments and look at the bigger picture.
Ask questions boldly.

Tomorrow we’ll give birth to children who will ask themselves what we were doing with our time when we were young. Remember to tell them that you were busy following bobrisky on snapchat.

This letter is a sensitisation. To awaken our sleepy consciousness. A reminder that this country is our own and nobody in the history of the world took what belonged to them by being afraid or by using snapchat filters.
We actually misplace our emotions. Fear that should be shown when watching Bobrisky and his Madness is what we show when we are supposed to ask questions and do the right thing.

This is a wake up call to my fellow young people. Recognize that you have been sleeping the whole time. Wake up and let us make a difference!

What Segun Arinze Said About Fela 20 Years After Death

As lovers of legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti and celebrities across Nigeria commemorate the memory of the Afrobeat singer twenty years after his death, the actor, Segun Arinze has also expressed his mind about the personality of Fela.

On Wednesday, the Nollywood actor and TV Presenter likened Fela as a prophet who was not as respected as he is outside his homeland.

He is a great icon and till date, his music still stands relevant. Most of those things he said in all his songs are prevalent till date. He was like a prophet but as the saying goes, a ‘prophet is not respected in his home town’, which is exactly what played out in his life.

We still keep hope that the society will continue to imbibe the messages he left behind for the much-needed change to come.

In credit of Fela, Segun Arinze further revealed that the singer was the pioneer of using songs to criticize the government which some other activists picked up after him.

And of course, he was being recognised by the government, people and the society; Fela was great, we can never forget him in Nigeria, Africa and the world stage. It even got to a level of staging a play in his honour, Fela on Broadway; what else can you ask for?” he asked.

Fela was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, composer, pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, human rights activist, who died on August 2, 1997.
