Perhaps, only few women, including men, would remain in one piece after experiencing what Ms. Calista Offor, 45, has gone through in the hands of her ex-husband, 50-year-old Felix Oshai.
For a woman who worked hard to build a thriving company, had good cars and did well for herself, but now living at the mercy of well-wishers because her husband (allegedly) arrived from the United States and hijacked her company, sold two of her cars, took the remaining one for himself, gave her serious beating, converted her properties into his and worst still, married their sales girl, her emotional and psychological wellness can only be imagined.
When our correspondent visited her where she now resides in Lagos during the week, her story is one that could make anyone cry, more so that she alleges that the same man has not stopped humiliating and threatening her as each day passes by. She made strenuous efforts to hold back tears from rolling down her cheeks throughout the conversation, thus every word came out with so much effort and pain.
Flanked by her only child, identified as Onyeka, 17, who suffers from autism, Calista’s torturous journey to her present predicament began when her husband was allegedly deported from the prison in the US and he moved in with her.
Soon after, all she had worked for vanished before she could say, because according to her, he took over the company, took all she had and went away with the company’s sales girl.
Following series of battery, his absence from home for about a year, his refusal to take care of the autistic girl and his alleged infidelity, which made her to contract venereal disease, a sexually transmitted disease, Calista filed for divorce in 2010, which an Ikeja High Court granted in 2016.
Since he left with “everything”, Calista and her autistic daughter had been living from hand to mouth. With the support of Child Dignity Foundation and others, Onyeka now enjoys scholarship at a special school for people with her condition, but getting transport fare from Ipaja, where she lives with her mum, to school is usually a herculean task and so she’s absent regularly. And this is after she had been out of school and therapy for four years due to lack of funds.
A beautiful woman with confidence and good accent, Calista, in an emotive voice, explained that they met while both of them were in school but he travelled to the US while she went for the National Youth Service Corps programme.
She added, “I was 25 when we got married. I was under serious pressure to get married on time, and then he seemed to me as a good man; gentle, meek, intelligent, caring and I was intrigued by his ingenuity. If we had courted much, I would have seen that violent part of him.”
She said it was not until they got married and she joined him in the US that she found out he was involved in nefarious activities. She also recalled that her experience with him in the US ranged from frustrating to ridiculous.
Calista, a graduate of Mass Communication, said, “In the US, we lived with his sister who later threw us out. We moved to an uncompleted building where we lived with all kinds of reptiles before we could raise money to rent an apartment. He confessed to me he was involved in credit card fraud and that he was released from jail to pay restitution. He couldn’t pay up and they rearrested him. I needed to survive, so I got a job in a company. There, I had leg injury and I had to use crutches for some time.
“I was eight-months pregnant when he was rearrested and he was in jail when I had my baby, Onyeka. It was when my daughter was two months old that he was released, with the mandate that he must pay back that money. Onyeka became autistic when she was two years old. I had to sell my jewellery and native wear to raise money and survive.
“Given all the troubles, he suggested we should come back to Nigeria to start afresh but that I should go first so he could work some more and continue paying the restitution.”
While she came back to Nigeria to start life afresh, Calista alleged that she never knew Felix went back to the same credit card fraud, which led to his arrest again before he was later deported.
But while Felix was allegedly languishing in cell in the US prior to his deportation, Calista accepted fate, took the N2m she had saved before travelling and established a company, called FELCAL International Ltd. in Mushin, Lagos.
She said FELCAL was an acronym of their names; Felix and Calista. She said the company which was into selling printing materials, got the sole distributorship for a top product in West Africa, making people from other countries to come to Nigeria to buy the product.
Providence smiled on her and the company began to flourish. When Felix returned from his sojourn, and failing to raise money to start anything, he joined his wife in the business, and they lived as a family.
But, according to her, running the company together was the beginning of the end to her happiness and that of her daughter.
She recalled, “At a point, he told me to stop coming to the office. I had to get a job in a consulting firm. I decided to build a career there and I was getting promotion as and when due. Then, he came again and said I should stop working in the firm, but I refused. I felt I was dreaming, but he beat me black and blue. I lost two of my teeth to that battery.”
Unknown to Calista, more troubles lay ahead. She added, “It’s by miracle that I’m alive. He was beating me, hitting my head against the wall and punching my breasts. There were times he would lock me inside the store in the house from morning till evening for me not to go to work. Knowing I’m asthmatic, he would seize my inhaler and beat me like drum.
“He would say the rate at which they were promoting me, I would soon become a boss and it would get into my head, so, in his words, he needed to stop me.”
Eventually, Calista left the job and resorted to travelling abroad to buy things to sell, but that didn’t change anything.
She said, “Despite the money he was making from the company he already hijacked from me, he was still stealing my money. He forced me to close my personal account and insisted that we run a joint account, which he cleaned up before he left.
He really dealt with me. He refused to take care of Onyeka because of her condition and he would even tell me I don’t have a real child. I wouldn’t know whether his attitude was because of Onyeka’s condition. Whereas, autism runs in his family, because one of his siblings was autistic while one has an autistic child. So, he’s even the one who has the problem.
“Due to beating and stress, I had two miscarriages respectively. Already, he was cheating on me. He would come back late and tell me not to sleep until he came back. He was very mean and would beat me at any opportunity. I noticed he stopped moving close to me, but I didn’t know he had infected me with venereal disease. He was already treating himself but he never told me.
“I must tell you that the infection pains me more than the money he stole from me, because I’m still suffering from it as I’m talking to you.”
Soon after Calista discovered she was infected with the disease, Felix moved out of the house, but not without leaving her empty.
She said, “He knew he was leaving and was already making plans, so he cleaned the joint account and forged my signature to sell two of my cars I bought in the company’s name; Chrysler, a sport utility vehicle and a Mazda car. He also took the Honda Civic saloon car I was using to sustain myself and move my daughter. He’s still making attempts to take over my property in Ajah. He connived with the lawyer to alter the document and told me to forget the property.”
“Since he went with my last car, we now board public transport, and given my daughter’s condition, she could be touching people and be acting funny in the bus, which some people find embarrassing. I learnt he gave the car to his new wife who used to be the company’s salesgirl.”
Interestingly, when Calista took the matter to court in 2010, the presiding judge, Justice (Mrs.) L.A.M. Folami, admitted several documents tendered by Calista.
Calista alleged that Justice Folami, in her judgment in June 2016, granted her ownership of the property, among other rulings. However, according to the judgment’s Certified True Copy, sighted by our correspondent, Felix has ownership while a quarter of the property was given to the child (Onyeka).
This didn’t go down well with Calista, who also alleged that the judge was silent about the ownership of the company.
But on the other hand, the obligations the court imposed on Felix had not been fulfilled till date, which from all indications, had hampered the well-being of the autistic child.
According to the CTC, Felix (the respondent) was directed to “pay the school fees of the child to university level and pay the medical bills of the child; the respondent shall pay the sum of N50,000 monthly (subject to review) for the upkeep and maintenance of the child; and a lump sum of N5m is awarded in favour of the petitioner (Calista) to be paid forthwith, among other issues.”
But Calista said Felix had not done anything since the judgment was given in June 2016.
At the moment, Calista is facing another likely eviction as her rent would soon expire, with no hope of being able to raise a quarter of it.
She said the company makes money till date and that it operates three accounts, out of which only one of the banks made the statement of account available in court, “and which was in millions.”
In spite of the judgment, Calista and her daughter have continued to live from hand to mouth, and at the mercy of well-wishers; the girl had been out of therapy, which is why she throws tantrums and eats her own hand, among other challenges. While on the other hand, Felix allegedly lives in affluence with the millions of naira in the company’s account, domiciled in naira, US Dollars, British Pounds and Euros, according to the bank statements sighted by our correspondent.
Beyond these, he has also, allegedly, married the company’s sales girl, Blessing Oshai, with whom he now has children and they live as a family.
But a child protection, development and advocacy organisation, Child Dignity Foundation, which intervened in the matter, followed the case and ensures that Calista does not sleep outside or go to bed hungry, has called on the state government to intervene in the matter and compel the girl’s father to obey the court judgment and “act responsibly.”
The Executive Director, CDF, Mrs. Amaka Awogu, thanked the sponsor of her scholarship and the school that admitted her, noting, however, that lack of funding as it is at the moment could pose grievous harm to the child, especially in terms of her therapy, supplements and diet.
She said, “For autism and any condition that needs intervention, early intervention is always key, coupled with enabled environment. This child has not got any of these. She was out of school for two years. For people with autism, there are dos and don’ts in their feeding, but how can this woman afford that. We have also spent so much and we no longer have the capital to sustain the prescribed feeding. Whereas, since last year, the court ordered the father to pay those bills, more so that he could afford it, but he flouts the court order in style and nothing happens.
“We need the government to intervene. The mother is also psychologically affected and her life is at a standstill. She can’t do anything for herself. They are struggling and it is worrisome for us. Emotionally, that child is not doing too well, and it’s not her fault that she was born like that. She was once used to a good lifestyle until the father came into the show. Government needs to do something.
“We went to Corporate Affairs Commission and saw that truly, that woman registered the company in her name while he was still in the US. She later gave the man 40 per cent of the company, she took 30 per cent and gave her daughter 30 per cent.
“For us, the child shouldn’t suffer as she is at the moment. All we want is a better life for the girl. The father should be responsible.”
Awogu said even though the foundation gives the woman some money monthly, it couldn’t be enough to meet their needs. She added, “Even if it covers their feeding, what about their transportation? We even planned to get her a job, but that child is her major occupation at the moment.
“We know how he (Felix) threatens the woman, and we have their audio conversation. Lagos State government needs to step in and that case didn’t need to be in court for seven years, given that a child with special needs was involved.”
Meanwhile, the man at the centre of the issue, Felix, in an interview with our correspondent on the phone on Thursday, claimed that the case was still in court. When reminded that judgment was delivered in June 2016, he said he had appealed the case.
“I can’t say much because the matter is in Appeal Court,” he said. But our correspondent was reliably informed that he only filed preliminary objection at the commencement of the original petition that his new wife, Blessing, should not be joined in the case in 2010, and it was after that objection that the matter was heard for six years and the judgment given in 2016.

“Drama began in May when we had an argument and she went to Nigeria claiming she was going to abort my baby there. I begged her not to do it, but she went ahead. However reacting to Oriyomi’s accusation, Vera Sidika denied being pregnant for the Nigerian businessman.

A 36-year-old Ghanaian prostitute has confessed to being responsible for the deaths of over 100 men who slept with her, while also rendering 70 more impotent after a Nigerian lady introduced into prostitution.
According to Katrine Obenewaa, her quest for money at a very tender age led her into prostitution.
Explaining how she became a sex worker to Bryt FM’s Samuel Mprah, she revealed that a lack of support from her poor parents meant she had to find alternative ways to make money. This, she said forced her into prostitution, adding that she got more involved in the business after she met a Nigerian lady called Miss Elizabeth Opeyemi.
“I was initially working as a local prostitute but later went international after coming into contact with one Miss Elizabeth Opeyemi, an international sex worker from Nigeria,” she revealed.
She further narrated how this mysterious Nigerian woman enticed her to take her prostitution business outside Ghana.
According to her, she started spreading her bounds to neighbouring countries like Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso.
“My eight years of friendship with Miss Opeyemi was a great moment that saw me with billions of cedis. I was able to buy two separates six-bed room apartments from the monies I made through my sex business and now own a lot of other landed properties from this same sex business,” she said.
Katrine continued to make money, however, her quest to create more wealth prompted her to go in for spiritual backup.
She then decided to visit a spiritualist in order to make her business blossom the more, but little did she know that it would turn out for the worst.
She narrates that she realised every man she slept with lost his life afterwards, prompting her to find out why it was so.
However, to her surprise, the spiritualist told her it was the price she had to pay for her wealth while adding that it was irreversible.
She confessed that over 100 men had already died, and 70 more were rendered impotent after sleeping with her before she eventually found out what the cause was.
Katrine also said she’s having a big regret over the whole situation, saying “though I have acquired the needed wealth one could desire for in life, am still not a happy person because of this predicament in my life”.

The drama started recently after the New York Times profiled famous transgender woman Amanda Lepore whose debut memoir Doll Parts has just been released.
In her book, Ms. Lepore claimed she had a sexual relationship with a high profile rapper, and though she didn’t name names, all indications point at Kanye West, BET is reporting.
Here’s how the NYT dropped the hint on Kanye:
“Ms. Lepore describes having an assignation with a famous rapper whose songs often play in the clubs she frequents. Soon after, she writes, he got married, and ‘I couldn’t help but think that his wife had a similar body type to me.’”
That line about her body ignited the speculations that the ‘wife’ could be Kim Kardashian, because like Kim K, Lepore also has a voluptuous figure.
But Kanye’s friend is already shooting down the rumour. In a statement to Page Six, the friend said the alleged sexual affair is “not within the realm of possibility.”
Kanye West himself has yet to speak up since the news surfaced.

During a Programme on GTV dubbed ‘What Men Like’, Ghanaian actor and farmer, John Dumelo, has advised men not to ever marry a woman who is financially more buoyant than them.
According to the actor, ‘fortunately or unfortunately, when women have a lot of money, they tend to be somehow disrespectful.’
He revealed this in the conversation which was centered on whether men like dating ladies who are financially well off.
The actor also went ahead to explain the kind of woman he would love to settle for.
He said:
“I just want a woman who is OK but the potential is there to be rich, for us to be rich together. She’s ambitious, she’s a go getter, she’s entrepreneurial. We can get the money together.”
He added that if he had to date a woman like that, he would just have to make sure not to depend on her financially.
“I don’t mind going out with a woman who has more money than I do but I would make sure I have my own money as well. I wouldn’t want a case where I depend on the woman financially”.
A Taxi driver, identified as Sikiru Lamidi, who allegedly murdered a former Nigerian ambassador to South Africa, Ngam Nwachukwu, on 24th of November, 2016 have been tracked down and arrested by Detectives from Apo Divisional Police Station, Abuja.
The Suspect, who is from Oyo town in Oyo State, was apprehended last week by the investigators at his home town where he was hiding after selling the Deceased’s Lexus SUV with Abuja registration number, YAB 938 MC.
The police, subsequently, recovered the vehicle which was sold with forged documents to one Femi Adeyemi.
Northern City News learnt that the deceased, 75, had chartered the suspect’s cab on November 23, 2016 and in the course of taking him around informed him about his car which had a mechanical fault.
The suspect was said to have offered to take the ex-envoy to his brother, a mechanic, who could work on the car and it was decided that Lamidi would come to the ex-ambassador’s house the following day.
The driver reportedly showed up at the ex-envoy’s residence at Villa Nova Estate, Apo the following day as agreed.
It was gathered that the deceased lived alone, and his security guard, who doubled as an electrician, was also not in the house during Lamidi’s visit.
Investigators stated that Nwachukwu offered the driver some food but he declined while sitting across from him at the dining table.
An investigator said:
“As the man was eating, the suspect pounced on him and wrestled him to the floor and then stabbed him in the neck with a pair of scissors. He stole the plasma television and home theatre in the apartment and went away with the deceased’s Lexus SUV which he sold for N1.480m to one Femi Adeyemi with forged documents,”
Lamidi told our correspondent on Thursday at the Apo Divisional Police Station that he did not know what came over him, adding that he just found himself stabbing the septuagenarian until he died.
He said:
“After stabbing the man, I felt terrible and guilty but there was nothing I could do to reverse the situation,” .
After killing Nwachukwu, the suspect explained that he sold the TV and home theatre audio system to a seller of fairly-used products at Area 10, Abuja for N38,000.
He said that he kept the SUV in Sauka Village along Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road for two weeks before driving it to Oyo town.
The taxi driver said he gave the vehicle to one Okuta who assisted him in forging the vehicle documents, adding that he compensated Okuta with N380,000 after selling the vehicle.
The Suspect added:
“Out of the remaining N1.1m, I bought a motorcycle for N180,000 and invested N500,000 in a cooperative society; I gave a car dealer N500,000 to assist me in getting a car, but he defrauded me and didn’t provide any vehicle,”
When asked if he had committed similar crimes before, the suspect denied, saying it was his first time.
He said:
“I have not committed any crime before; I blame the devil for this. Sometimes, I entertain negative or diabolical thoughts, but I don’t smoke or drink,”

Badoo cult group has been reported to have killed two lovers at their residential area this morning.
According to report from PUNCH, the lovers were murdered in a storey building located on Hassan Abiodun Street, off Ojodu Berger, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun state.
The remains of the corpses have been taken to the General Hospital, Sagamu.
One of the residents in that area lamented the death as she revealed that the lady recently lost her father and she was even conceived of a baby before her death.
“The lady recently lost her father and the man she was to marry only came on a visit. She was a tall, beautiful lady and was also pregnant, ” the resident said.
It was gathered that their assailants tore the window net to gain entry and thereafter smashed the lovers’ heads.
Adding to the story, another resident claimed the people in the neighborhood had no knowledge of the attack in the midnight until daybreak even as much as a police station was at close proximity to the house.
“There is a police officer who lives next door to the deceased’s Boy’s Quarter. He did not hear anything. It is very sad and this development will create panic in the area”, the other resident expressed.
Seventeen persons have been confirmed dead in 1,617 reported suspected cases as a cholera outbreak continues to ravage Kwara State in North-central Nigeria.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, disclosed the grim figures in its weekly epidemiological report for Week 26 released on Tuesday.
According to the agency, the suspected cases were reported as at the end July 9 with 13 laboratory samples confirming the disease and a case fatality rate of 1.1 percent recorded.
This is an increase of 3.6 percent suspected cases from the previous week epidemiological report where 1. 558 suspected cases were reported, 13 confirmed and 11 deaths recorded.
Children under the age of five remain the most affected with 460, (28.4 percent) of the cases reported with the male population accounting for 51.6 percent of the cases.
According to the health agency, 818, (50.5 percent) of the suspected cases were reported from Ilorin West, the percentage remaining constant from the previous week.
In the epidemological report for the week which closed June 30, four local government areas in Kwara state, Asa, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West, were reported affected with 50.6 per cent from Ilorin West.
With the continued disease spread and increasing death toll in the state, NCDC has enjoined Nigerians to maintain hygienic environmental practices in order to reduce the spread of the disease.
The agency explained that environmental hygiene involves care of residential areas, proper treatment and disposal of waste, stressing that to achieve maximal impact, a communal approach to hygiene is encouraged.
It said:
“This will support better fostering and impact on the general public on the importance of environmental hygiene practices, in and out of an outbreak season. These preventive messages should also constitute part of the messages given to the general public at the community, LGA, State and national levels before and during an outbreak,”
“Furthermore, healthy collaborations with the ministry of environment should be encouraged for initiating and sustaining environmental hygiene strategies implemented at all levels and members of the public should always seek care in a health facility if they have watery diarrhoea,”
NCDC also advocated multisectoral collaboration between states; relevant Ministries, Agencies, and Departments (MDAs) and partner agencies in ensuring that a holistic approach is taken during preparation and response to outbreaks of epidemic prone diseases and public health events of concern.
NCDC’s preventive messages on proper environmental hygiene practices:
1. Care of residential area- Clear all waste around residential areas
• Report any break in water pipes to the appropriate authority
• Site latrine facilities far away from residential areas
2. Waste Disposal
• Use appropriate disposal bags to gather waste before disposal.
• Dumping site should be as far away as possible residential areas
• Use of latrines and toilets. If latrines or toilets are unavailable, bury feces 30 meters (98ft) away from any body of water.
• Increase access to improved sanitation facility e.g. connection to a public sewer, connection to a septic tank, simple pit-latrine, and ventilated improved latrine
• Facilities such as bucket latrines, public or shared latrines, and trenches should be replaced as soon as possible by improved and longer term sanitation facilities, after a cholera outbreak.
3. Treatment of Waste – Antibacterial treatment of general sewage by chlorine, ozone, ultraviolet light or other effective treatment before it enters the waterways or underground water supplies. This helps to prevent undiagnosed cholera patients from inadvertently spreading the disease.
The Founder and General Overseer of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry in Warri, Delta state, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, has done something quite shocking as he filed out unmarried youths and ordered them to choose each other for marriage during one of the church services recently.
While preaching, he asked a single lady to stand up and asked her if she was interested in getting married.
The lady said yes and then he asked her to go around the church to pick any brother that she would like to marry (point and kill).
The lady walks around and then informs him that her dream man isn’t among the congregation. The Pastor then asked if there were single men who were interested in marrying her.
Eight men ran out and when he asked the lady if she likes anyone of them, she responded No!.
The pastor then turned to the congregation and asked the single ladies in the church to come out and pick anyone of the brothers standing on the altar. The single ladies filed out in their numbers.
In some cases, eight ladies stood behind a brother they were all interested in.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay has strongly criticized the insistent refusal of the National Assembly to approve Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Sagay, in an interview with Channels TV early this morning, said the Senate was only discharging its duties with self-love and tyranny at the expense of the country. He noted the case of rejecting appointment of Magu as the EFCC Boss is a peculiar case.
“The Senate is the bad party in this country. The Executice can proceed with the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the EFCC as stipulated by the law. if the Senate is not careful, Magu will remain the EFCC boss without the consent of the legislature. The Acting President is right for saying that”, the Professor of Law stated.
A Nigerian guy has exclusively shared with us a conversation he had with a Female scammer who tried to scam him of his hard-earned money.
Apparently, the scammer claimed her daughter is seriously ill and she needs 20,000 for medications, but then, she’s got just N5,000 on her. Thus she needs more funds, so her daughter won’t die of the illness.
Then, the good Samaritan requested to know the nature of her daughter’s ailment, and the scammer revealed she’s suffering from “Imodium”… and funny enough Imodium is the name of a Diarrhea drug.
