A South African Lady, Mapaseka Semenyane desperately needs help with her 16-months-old son, who already weighs 18,5kg.
Mapaseka, 30, who hails from Phase 7 Kasi in Mangaung spoke to Daily Sun about her boy, Lucky who was already wearing clothes means for age 4 and six and even has size seven shoes.
She said she couldn’t carry Lucky on her back because he weighed as much as a 10-year-old.
Mapaseka is very worried about her son as he keeps gaining weight at an abnormally fast pace.
The worried mum said:
“I gave birth by C-section at Pelonomi Hospital last April. Lucky weighed 3,9kg at birth and he has been growing very fast ever since.
“He now weighs 18,5kg and doctors say that’s the weight for a 10-year-old. The doctors have been testing his heart and so far they have said there is no sign of anything to worry about.
“They say they will not be sending him for any more tests.
“I can’t hold my child or carry him on my back.
“Luckily a Good Samaritan donated a pram but his clothes don’t last long as they become too small in a matter of days.”
Nthabiseng Mbalo (31), whose son Itumeleng was born 17 days before Lucky, said her child wore size three shoes.
“Mapaseka gives me clothes that no longer fit Lucky and I give her money for new stuff for him,” she said.
Free State Health Department spokesman, Mondli Mvambi, said they would continue to monitor and support Lucky’s family.
There have been speculations over an alleged letter President Buhari sent to the senate informing them of his trip to London for medical check-up and that the president did not properly hand over power to the acting president, Yemi Osinbajo.
Addressing this speculation, acting president Yemi Osinbajo via his twitter handle last night responded to a user who asked why the President didn’t hand over the affairs of the country to him.
Osinbajo confirmed that the president actually transferred power to him via the letter sent to the senate in accordance with S.145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
That section of the constitution reads:
“Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President.”
The Federal University of Technology Minna , Niger State, has been thrown into mourning following the killing of a female postgraduate student in the school , Bolatito Ajuola, by a man suspected to be her fiancée.
It was learnt that Ajuola , a student of Science Education , was allegedly stabbed to death at about 11pm on Monday at her off -campus residence.
Eyewitnesses said the man , Best Origboshe , was a worker in a company owned by the victim’ s father in Ondo State, when the duo began a romantic affair.
However, Origboshe was said to have lost his job, resulting in Ajuola asking him to join her in Minna.
It was learnt that on Monday , Origboshe and Ajuola had returned from shopping when the victim prepared dinner and set the table for them to eat.
Northern City News gathered that Origboshe was reluctant to eat the meal , claiming that it was too hot when Ajuola queried him for shunning her food.
An argument was reported to have ensued between them.
A witness, who did not want his name in print, said , “ During the argument, the man started beating the girl .
She rushed to the kitchen and emerged with a knife with which she injured her fiancé. The man afterwards went to a nearby store, where he bought a brand new knife which he allegedly used to stab her in the breast and in the stomach. ”
It was learnt that a professor in the university, who heard the cry from the house, rushed Ajuola and Origboshe to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
Her remains have reportedly been deposited in a morgue at the General Hospital, Minna.
Our correspondent gathered that Origboshe was initially being guarded at the hospital by some policemen, before he was later released to the police due to a crowd of students, who had gathered around the hospital.
The parents of the victim were said to have arrived Minna to recover their daughter’s corpse and follow up with investigation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations had commenced into the case.

Lanre Gentry, estranged spouse of Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe has been remanded in Ikoyi Prison for alleged wife battering, in the latest twist of the domestic violence drama.
He was arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrate Court on a three-count charge of domestic violence, assault, and threat to life which he pleaded not guilty to.
Gentry was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum. The sureties must show proof of tax payment and own houses in Lagos with title documents. He was also ordered to remain in prison until he meets the bail demands.
Police prosecutor, Inspector N. Peter told the court that Gentry on April 17, conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by constituting nuisance and behaving in a disorderly manner in a public place. Peter added that Gentry unlawfully assaulted his wife by beating her with physical blows all over her body and also caused Mercy Aigbe’s grievous bodily harm after giving her a blow on the nose, with blood gushing out.
Peter said the offense committed by Gentry was contrary to and punishable under sections 157 (f), 168 (a) and 171 of the Criminal Law No II, Vol. 44 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
According to Premium Times, Gentry was initially asked to appear in court on Monday following a physical assault charge leveled against him by the Lagos State Department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team. He, however, failed to show up in court saying he was admitted in a Lagos hospital for an undisclosed ailment.
His estranged wife then took to her Instagram account on Monday morning to raise an alarm that her husband was trying to evade arrest with the help of the police. Her close friend, Lara Olubo also claims to have witnessed Lanre Gentry abusing his wife.
The couple was married for seven years and the union produced a son. While it is Mercy’s second marriage, it is her husband’s third marriage.
The case has been adjourned till 12 May for trial.
Over 100 people are reportedly being treated at the Takoradi Port Hospital after two gas explosions that went off Tuesday morning at the Sekondi-Takoradi road, the oil hub of Ghana.
According to Citi FM, eyewitnesses and officials from the Ghana National Fire Service, said the explosion occurred “at about 7: 10 Tuesday morning when a gas tanker discharging gas to another tanker exploded before the second went off around the Total filling station on the main Takoradi Highway.
The injured included five firefighters among several others who were trying to put off the fire. The exact cause of the explosion is yet unknown.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Legislative matters, Alhaji AbdulRahaman Kawu Sumaila Monday,said ailing President is fit to seek for reelection in 2019.
Kawu Sumaila told Reporters in Kano that “from what I have seen at close range, my boss is quite fit for 2019 electoral battle”.
Buhari left the shore of this country Sunday night to United Kingdom on medical leave following undisclosed ailment that had debilitating effect on his capacity to run the governments.
The Presidential aide stated that “President Buhari’s fitness status was played up in 2015 general election, he survived the campaign rigour, won the election and on the verge of taking Nigeria to the promised land”.
“Buhari is quite alright, he is fit to pass through a familiar terrain, and its human to fall sick, and highly confident he would get better,”. Kawu Sumaila stressed.
He expressed Buhari’s readiness to flaw any challenger within his party and across in a competitive election, adding that ” Buhari has nothing to fear.
“Those who have legitimate ambition should step forward, but they should also have at the back of their the fatal consequence of such misadventure in 2015,” Kawu Sumaila said.
Sumaila explained that President Buhari’s two years in office was “eventful and fruitful”, adding that “his ability to degraded the insurgency was a landmark in the history of this country”.
