Calabar Tragedy: “We tried to stop our husbands from going to the viewing Centre”

The viewing centre in Calabar where fans were electrocuted on Thursday (Dian Abasi/BJO/NAN)

As Nigerians continue to mourn the shocking demise of the football fans who were electrocuted at a viewing centre at Nyaghassang Community, Calabar Municipality of Cross River State on Thursday night while watching the return leg match between Manchester United and Anderlecht in the UEFA Europa league, two women saturday lamented that they did everything to prevent their husbands from going to the viewing centre on the ill-fated day.

One of the women, Mrs. Elizabeth Alex Samuel, a mother of a year-old child, who is now a widow as a result of the incident said, if her late husband, Mr. Samuel, had taken to her constant advice, and warning, perhaps he wouldn’t have died at the viewing centre that fateful night.

The woman, who was in a sober mood when she narrated her ordeal, said after the incident happened, her husband was among those evacuated to the hospital, but she learnt the following day that he was among those who died.

Narrating her ordeal, Mrs. Samuel who was carrying her child said, “Every day I warned him not to watch football in that viewing centre. That night, he went to watch football. The next thing I heard shouting and they said people have died. I was waiting I did not see him. I heard they had rushed him to the hospital. I was crying throughout. It was yesterday (Friday) they came and told me that my husband was dead”.

On a similar note, another woman who gave her name as Mary Okon said her husband, Mr. Emmanuel Okon, lost his life to the incident. Mary said she tried to stop her late husband from going to the viewing centre that night because she wanted him to eat, and stay at home with the family.

She said her late husband, who was a Manchester United fan, left to watch the match despite her asking him to stay back, and eat the food she was preparing.

“I was boiling rice for him and then he decided to go and watch the match. I told him to stay back and eat but he said I should come and meet him when it was ready. When the incident happened I went there to look for him and when I found him he was not moving. There were bodies lying on the floor everywhere. I carried him with the help of his nephew, but he was not responding. His body was cold. With the help of a neighbour who is a taxi man, we carried him to the hospital where we were told he was dead,” she said, while sobbing.

Also speaking, Godswill Okon, a nephew to the late woman’s husband said: “That evening, me and my uncle were just joking about the match. He is a Man U fan and I am a Chelsea fan. So, we were playfully arguing, and I told him Man U will lose. He said no way that they would win. So, when it was time for the match, he called me to go with him and watch, but I felt somehow and decided not to go.

“Normally, I would have been there to watch the game, but I suddenly did not feel too well. People were even surprised that I did not go to watch. It was while we were at home that we heard the noise, and we went out; and I got there and saw my uncle dead. My uncle was a very loving and kind person. He was the one who was taking care of me. My school fees, accommodation, feeding, clothes, everything. I don’t know what I would do now that he is gone. Who would come to our help?”, he lamented.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara yesterday called for investigation into the unfortunate incident which led to the death of football fans in the Calabar viewing centre.

Dogara, who expressed sadness over the development, however, condoled with the families of those who lost their lives as well as those who survived the incident, and the people and government of the state.

The police had confirmed that no fewer than seven persons watching the Europa League match between Manchester United and Anderlecht football clubs died by electrocution on Thursday.

However, Dogara, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Turaki Hassan, said: “My heart goes out to the families of football fans who died in the incident at the viewing centre. At this moment, my thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, survivors, and the government and good people of Cross River state following this sad incident.

“It is my ardent hope that survivors are receiving adequate care, and that the state government is taking the necessary steps to avoid a recurrence of such a sad incident”, the Speaker said, and urged the state government to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Also, former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has lamented over the tragic death of the soccer fans, who were electrocuted at the viewing centre in Calabar.

In a condolence message to the Governor of Cross River state, Senator Ben Ayade, Senator Mark said it was sad that such young people met their untimely deaths while watching a game that should ordinarily bring joy and excitement to them. He described the incident as one tragedy too many.

“The death of over 30 soccer fans in one incident is a huge loss to the nation. It is more tragic because these were promising Nigerians who looked forward to a rewarding future. They represented the future dreams of our father land. They were the ready hands on which our future lies. But we are incapable of questioning the will of the Almighty. May God grant them eternal rest”, Mark said, in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Paul Mumeh.

Mark suggested that public utility providers should take precautionary measures to avoid future re-occurrence. In spite of the tragedy, he believes that “soccer is a unifying tool between and among Nigerians that must of a necessity be promoted and encouraged in our society”.

Meanwhile, former Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa yesterday promised to build a standard viewing centre at Nyaghassang Community, Calabar Municipality in memory of people who died at the viewing centre in the community.

Ita-Giwa said she was making the promise on behalf of mothers of the Efik Kingdom, whom she led to visit the victims of the viewing centre tragedy. She put the blame of the incident on those she described as the political class, saying the sad event was an indictment on them.

“We as mothers of the Efik Kingdom feel the pains of the mothers, wives and children of those who died here. We are here to sympathise and commiserate with them. We appreciate the President for showing sympathy for what has happened. We are not going to stop there and let this slide. We are going to set up a help line with designated help lines to help victims of the incident.

“We will build a viewing centre to commemorate the people that died here. We call on football lovers, football stars, Manchester United to come and help government to alleviate the problems of the victims.

“What shocked me when I got here was the state of the place where people paid N50 to come and watch football. I am here as a mother but I would not also deny the fact the fact that I am a politician. So these are the kind of things I see as a politician that make me feel very guilty that the people are not living well in this country, because under normal circumstances these are some of the things a representative should provide. These are some of the things that keep the boys off crime.

“Nigerians are great football enthusiasts. We will try to forestall future occurrences to see the state of other viewing centres to prevent further loss of lives. As mothers, we will do our best to alleviate the pains of the people. We share the pains. We urge football lovers, don’t allow this make you lose your interest in football; don’t let it wane your passion for football,” Ita-Giwa said.

Responding, the secretary of the Nyaghassang Community, Iso Bassey Edim, thanked Ita-Giwa and the Efik mothers for the gesture. Edim said the community was working towards completing the exact figure of victims of the incident.

No fewer than seven people were officially pronounced dead following the collapse of a high tension cable on the roof of a football viewing centre, where football fans were watching the Manchester United versus Anderlecht return leg match of the UEFA Europa league.

Also, the Commissioner representing Cross River on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC), Mr. Sylvester Nsa has commiserated with families of the electrocuted victims. In a press statement he issued in Calabar, Nsa described the incident as unfortunate, noting that the loss of lives under such circumstance was regrettable.

The commissioner commiserated with the bereaved families while wishing the injured speedy recovery. He, however advised the Town Planning department and other regulatory agencies in Cross River not to approve the construction of houses under high tension cable.

Nsa said houses already constructed under high tension cables should immediately be demolished by relevant authorities to forestall future occurrence of such unfortunate incidents.

Also, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) says it has taken the photographic data of the affected area of Nyagasang community where the electrocution tragedy occurred.

“He would have killed me” – Daddy Freeze’s ex-wife recounts the violence she endured

Daddy Freeze ex-wife

Estranged wife of Controversial OAP, Daddy freeze has made some shocking allegations against him in a new interview with BellaNaija.

According to her, she said she was forced to speak out after an anonymous Twitter account launch an attack on the OAP, citing the ordeal his ex-wife allegedly endured during the course of her marriage to the OAP.

Recall 2 year ago, Daddy Freeze once published photos showing the bruises he claims was inflicted on him by his ex-wife, Opeyemi Olarinde… and in an attempt to deny the story, she couldn’t as the photo had already gone viral, with many supporting the OAP.

Years after their messy separation, Daddy freeze is engaged to another woman, and Opeyemi is speaking up since she has been roped into the campaign by an anonymous tweeter. In her statement to Bellanaija, she lists disturbing incidences, including allegations that the OAP busted their son’s knee when the boy tried to defend his mother from his violent attack.

See the excerpts as shared by Bellanaija:

On their marital status:

I am still in court with him. Our divorce is not final, we’ve not even had a trial. The issue now is the last time we went to court the judge wanted to speak to our children (as they) were also involved in the abuse. My son has a kneecap that was broken when he tried to cover me when his father was beating me. He is just learning how to walk properly again and started playing football in January.

A lot has happened and I’ve kept quiet because I don’t know how to handle this. I kind of saw all this coming tho because when I was leaving he threatened me that if I left he will destroy me on social media because he has the power to do so as I am nothing and he is everything and there was no way I was going to survive without him.

On how are kids are coping with this:
We went on holiday to an African country and when we got back the first thing my daughter to me “Mummy I’m so glad this is the house we came back to, and not VI.” This is a situation where there was abuse every day.

A year before I left I had to stay in my marriage and be called Benedicta. I have enough evidence with my lawyers that will show all the abuse I went through. He cursed my son for covering me up while he was hitting me. My kids are in a much better place now and are happy. We live in a better situation and a more positive environment.

My kids and I watched an interview he did and thankfully they didn’t cry. They just laughed. I thank God that they are healing.

On why she has decided to speak up now:
He is the only man I’ve ever known for that long, so I didn’t exactly know how to handle what happened to me. There was no go-to book or counsellor; my not responding then was me broken, confused and lost. He used to beat me and put her on speaker phone and say “look I’m beating her and she has refused to leave” then she would scream at me to get out of the house. But I didn’t have anywhere to go. I had no exit strategy but at the end of the day, I had to leave because if I had died that is how the story would have ended.

Right now reading all that stuff I read yesterday (Wednesday), I have no idea who the person is behind the Twitter account, but I am not a coward and if someone has come out with 100% truth of what happened, then I will speak up.

A stranger can’t be fighting for me and I’m quiet, so I decided to come out and say yes it is true. He was given a court order to stop humiliating me on social media but he hasn’t stopped.

I asked them (my kids) for their permission before I did this interview and my daughter goes “mummy you’ve been quiet, and it’s almost like you are afraid of him” My son said “mummy you’re afraid of daddy even though we’ve left” I had to let them know I’m not afraid of him and that’s why I’ve decided to speak up.

On why he is doing what he’s doing:
He was born into an abusive family, so I sort of understood where he was coming from. That was one of the reasons why I stayed so long. Even when people asked why I stayed with him when I was admitted into the hospital in 2006, I told them this was someone I basically grew up with, there was so much we had ahead of us so I wasn’t going to walk out on him.

If not for my kids I can assure you I would have still stayed and he would have killed me, just because I didn’t have anywhere to go. He kept everybody away from me. I think he is disturbed, and this may be his own way of crying out for help.

Nigerians Reacts As Emeka Ike Shades His Ex-Wife, Suzanne Emma Again.

emeka ike shades ex wife

The actor is yet at his marital hullabaloo again, but this time Nigerians are not having any of it – he shared a photo which clearly is directed at his Ex-wife and mother of his 4 kids, Suzanne with the caption:

‘A man can work for 10 years with unemployed wife and still be happy, but a woman will work 5 days and the whole community will know about the unemployed husband’

We’d recall that Emma asked the Lagos Island customary court to dissolve their 12-year-old marriage stating that she could no longer bear being tortured, while the actor told the court that the only time the ‘devil’ entered their marriage was when his wife paid for the children’s school fees.

Davido And Iceprince Fight: Full Details Of What Happened! (READ)

davido iceprince fight

Earlier today, there were reports making the rounds on how top Nigerian acts Davido and Iceprince, had a brawl in Warri on Friday night.

It was alleged that the “IF” crooner, was all boiled up and ready to engage in a battle with the rapper, but was later calmed down by his own people.

A new report by LIB details what really went down. Read:

‘Last night, an event (Delta Alive) organised by Shina Peller (owner of Quilox night club) went down in Warri. The show had Davido, Lil Kesh, Ice Prince, CDQ and others as headliners.

According to an inside source, trouble started from the airport when Davido was picked up in a G-Wagon while Ice Prince was picked up with a saloon car.

The gesture infuriated Ice Prince and he let the organisers know he wasn’t pleased. Davido got to hear of his complains and was angry too.

Then the issue escalated during the concert when Ice Prince was made to perform before Lil Kesh, a move that’s seen as an insult to the bigger artiste.

Ice Prince made it an issue back stage and Davido who had been boiling from the car complaint and obviously a close friend of Lil Kesh jumped in defence of Kesh and things got messy.

Our source said, ‘when they got back to the hotel, Davido was really pissed so much that he went to Ice Prince’s door and started shouting and banging on the door before they calmed him down.

When they were coming back to Lagos, they had to move them to the airport separately and put them in separate lounges at the airport because they were still boiling at each other’.

There’s also news that the fight backstage led to the destruction of equipment but LIB cant verify that information at the moment as effort to reach all parties involved has been futile so far.

“Buhari chronically ill, his figure now no more than skin and bones” — Brimah

Buhari chronically ill

Perry Brimah a Popular columnist and convener of ‘Every Nigerian Do Something,’ has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari needs rest as he is “Chronically ill”.

In a statement on Friday, Brima alleged that the President was being locked up in Aso Rock by some “selfish cabal” instead of allowing him to attend to his health.

The columnist flayed Nigerians for their seeming indifference to Buhari’s health status despite seeing his “asthenic figure…as he sat down for the Jumat service” with Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai last Friday.

He wrote, “There can be no denying how chronically ill president Muhammadu Buhari looks when he does appear in public. The last time was last week Friday when Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai came visiting.

“The videos of Buhari walking to Friday prayers bring tears to eyes. His asthenic figure, now no more than skin-and-bones as he sat down for the Jumat service, was heart-wrenching.

“How can a people be so cold they expose a grandfather to this type of extreme stress and deprive him of his needed rest and medical attention by tasking him to lead the world’s most complex nation?

“Have we, as a people, lost our humanity that we continue to task Buhari like this and not campaign for him to be relieved of our burden and rest towards recovery?

“It is insane to continue to deprive him and the nation by locking him up and burdening him with a challenge too heavy for even a strong young man to bear, talk-less of an old man who just returned from a 49-day leave in which he received blood transfusions and unknown cocktails of serious medications…”

“It’s time for Nigerians to demand full disclosure of the true state of health of President Muhammadu Buhari…”

Nigerian Lesbian Doctor

“Today I woke up in a cold sweat. I was drenched with fear, for a moment. I forgot where I was.

I ask you all to close your eyes, imagine what would have happened Saturday at our wedding if we were in Nigeria.

Even though we went to great lengths to make sure we had security, the thought of the police barging in and arresting all our guests, my wife and I, to be carted off to jail, the women raped and beaten, the men brutalised, and my children beaten along with everyone else.

When I got my bearings, I got on my knees and thanked God for his grace of living in the US. Then I remembered all the people that could not do what we did with grace and class.

To all of you (gay) all over Africa, #westandforyou. May all our days be filled with blessings and grace.” In another post on Facebook, she hinted that one of her children, actually did her make-up and hair.

“My make-up was all I wanted that day. My weave looked like it grew out of my scalp. To have my first child do my hair and make-up, then walk me down the aisle was one of the best memories of the evening,” she said.

#BBNaija: “Judges Unfair In Disqualifying Me Over Sexual Assault On TBoss” – Kemen Says.

kemen judges unfair

Disqualified Big Brother Naija housemate, Ekemini Ekerete better known as Kemen has declared that the panel of judges of the reality television show were unfair to have disqualified him from the programme, over his disdainful action on fellow housemate, TBoss.

The body fitness expert was in March disqualified from the show after he was caught on tape fondling Tboss’ breast while she slept.

Following his disqualification, the organizers of the show said it took them seven hours of deliberation, to disqualify the Akwa Ibom breed.

Reacting to a question on whether the judges who disqualified him were fair, Kemen told News Telegraph,

“I don’t think they were fair but in their perception of the scenario, it is normal for them to take the decision they took because it was necessary at that time based on how sensitive they were to the issue.”

On if T-boss led him into touching her breast, the fitness trainer said:

“There was no leading on, I and T-Boss had a cordial relationship. There was no leading on of any sort and there was no case of molestation.

“I am a whore, and I’ve slept with 2788 men” — This Nigerian Lady says

A Nigerian Lady on Facebook, Ifediba Oluchi Anne has stated categorically on her blog, that she’s a whore, and she has slept with a good amount of men.

Read Her Post Below:

I a whore! When people ask me how many men I have slept with, I tell them “2708 men excluding women”. The look on their face is always priceless and they go on to give me a speech about how I have been useless all my life. Some of them go the extra mile to tell me to give my life to christ and retrace my steps so I can get married and have kids. One time, a man told me I may not be able to have kids in the future as I had sinned too much and not kept my temple holy. I do find it funny that people are quick to shame me based on my sexual choices as a woman while cheering on a man who was the same body count as I do.

I grew up in a religious home. My parents attended The Lord’s Chosen and my mom was a fanatic for the church and its doctrines. The only sex education I got was one which relied greatly on abstinence. My mom would always sound it in my ears that I had to be a virgin. To her, virgins were entitled to a special kind of blessing from God and a sweet lasting marriage.

When I was 17, I had sex with a man who was way older than I was. He touched my boobs in the stairs and gave me gifts at every turn. I would admit that the situation which I grew up in didn’t teach me how to say “No” without feeling bad. It has taken me a good number of years to set boundaries and shun the things I do not like without being ridden by guilt.

After my first sex experience which should be considered as rape in every sane country, I went through bouts of emotional breakdown. I had done something which society frowned at and I needed time to accept it. One would expect that I would never repeat such action anymore but I only went ahead to have more sex and do all sorts of stuff mom and church told me not to do. I never got any form of sexual education so you should know I made a lot of mistakes (which I love to call lessons)

I am not a whore because I have slept with the fictional amount of men ( yes, 2708 men is a fictional figure) although I have slept with a good amount of people. I am a whore because I talk about sex too often.

A good number of adults in Nigeria are having sex but as long as they don’t talk about, it is fine. Nigerians talk about sex. They talk about how sex is like an exercise for men. They talk about how it is okay for men to have as much sex as they want while they tell women to keep themselves. They talk about how rape is caused by women seductive dressing. They talk about how any woman with more than 1 body count is not wife material. They talk about how women privates can be used as a collateral for jobs and favors. They talk about how any woman who has had sex before should not cry rape if a man takes her against her will.

As long as you talk about sex the same way they are accustomed to then you are fine. For a while now, I have been talking differently about sex on Facebook. When Instablog9ja and other media carried one of my posts, people slut-shamed me.

I have come to realize that slut-shaming is only offensive when the victim feels hurt. I do not feel hurt.I am a whore…I said it. I sleep with men and talk about sex shamelessly on my blog in ways that really matter.

53 year old Nigerian Lesbian mom marries her partner in US

Nigerian Lesbian mom

A 53 year old Nigerian Lesbian woman, Moji Solar-Percy has married her American “wife” on Tuesday in the United States, and her daughter was their makeup Artiste.

Moji is a real estate mogul, runs a company, Solar Worldwide Realty Inc. in Staten Island, New York. She gushed about her love for the woman, with whom she probably would have been arrested if the wedding had taken place in Nigeria.

Solar-Percy, who hails from Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State, describes herself as a mother, realtor, LGBT activist, speaker, coach and host on her Facebook page, did not reveal the name of her partner.

She wrote on her Facebook wall, where friends and families have been celebrating her new status, that she embarked on the marital journey with fear.

“Today I woke up in a cold sweat. I was drenched with fear, for a moment. I forgot where I was. I ask you all to close your eyes, imagine what would have happened Saturday at our wedding if we were in Nigeria.

“Even though we went to great lengths to make sure we had security, the thought of the police barging in and arresting all our guests, my wife and I, to be carted off to jail, the women raped and beaten, the men brutalised, and my children beaten along with everyone else.

“When I got my bearings, I got on my knees and thanked God for his grace of living in the US. Then I remembered all the people that could not do what we did with grace and class. To all of you (gay) all over Africa, #westandforyou. May all our days be filled with blessings and grace.”

In another post on Facebook, she hinted that one of her children, actually did her make-up and hair.

“My make-up was all I wanted that day. My weave looked like it grew out of my scalp. To have my first child do my hair and make-up, then walk me down the aisle was one of the best memories of the evening,” she said.

According to her, the daughter had been doing her hair and makeup since she was 12.

In the wedding, which was well attended by other Nigerians in the US, Solar-Percy and her bridge decked up in both traditional attires, while another picture she posted showed her wearing a white wedding gown and being attended to by her first child.

Friends say Solar-Percy has never hidden her sexual orientation.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that as is the tradition in many gay weddings, the broker and her partner made use of two aisles.

A source said that each of their bridal trains alternated going down the respective aisles, then Sola-Percy and her partner walked parallel to each other.

She was said to have hired two photographers to capture both of them as they walked down the aisle

In Nigeria, such a gay marriage would have met with a clampdown from authorities as a result of the country’s Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Law, which prescribes up to 14 years imprisonment upon conviction.

Da Grin died on the 22nd of April, 2010.. Making it 7 years since the death of one of Nigeria’s prolific, indigenous rapper. He died after a vehicle accident in Lagos State.

And although he is late, his influence on Nigerian Hip-hop will never be forgotten.

In an interview with Olisa Adibua on talk show, ‘The Truth’, the rapper disclosed that he never met the late Dagrin.

“I never met him”, Olamide said. “I never met him at all”.
Even without a direct physical encounter, Olamide admits that Dagrin was instrumental as a forerunner of indigenous music, paving the way for the younger generation of rappers to prosper.

“Actually he did. He paved way for people like me, as well as Lord of Ajasa. Lord of Ajasa paved the way for people like me, Idris Abdulkareem, the likes of AY, Junior & Pretty. It’s a movement, it has to keep going on. Every now and then, every new set of artistes that come out, they have to pave the way for a new generation.

“Gifty is My Girlfriend,” — Mr 2Kay confirms relationship with Gifty

Mr 2Kay confirms relationship

…..and Mr 2Kay has finally confirmed his relationship with the every controversial ex-housemate of Big Brother Naija, Gifty.

Speaking with Punch, Mr 2kay says he heard of the reports that went round when she was still in the house… and has now confirmed that he is indeed dating gifty.

Excerpts below:

On his relationship with Gifty:

“I do not womanise because I am a one man, one woman type of guy. Gift is my girlfriend and everybody should know about that. You see us together all the time and I never denied her for any reason. However I did not want to say so much because I did not want to say things that would make her go out of the house. However, she is my very good friend and we have been friends for a very long time. I had known her since 2013 and I knew her through my manager, Energy. We spoke on the phone several times before we became close. Then it was Blackberry that was in vogue, so we used to chat a lot and that was how I got to know her.”

On what he thinks of her performance at the house:

“Her performance at the Big Brother house was all a game and she had to do anything to get the money. That was her strategy but she actually overplayed it. We are all humans and we make mistakes which we can correct. I don’t know what I would have done if I was in her shoes, so I cannot judge her. I could have done worse things but the camera was not on me.

On what he feels about her now:

“It does not matter that she did not bring home the N25m. She is still a winner and N25m is nothing, I can tell you that it is nothing because I know I make more than that in less than three months from my music on Music Plus, so it is nothing.”

Debie-Rise narrates how her father welcomed her home after running away from home for BBNaija

Debie-Rise narrates

BBN star, Singer and Guitarist, Debie-Rise whose real names are Deborah Ebun has narrated how her father welcomed her home.

Recall, Debie revealed that she had to run away from home because, her father, who’s a pastor would not let her attend the show.

The Kogi-born singer, who has been touring media houses since the end of the reality, said,

“Apart from the fact that my father is a pastor, I feel like I’m a typical girl with a good cultural upbringing from the north where parents are very protective of their children or they are just worried about the outside world like the city life.

“So, I understood it as to the kind of life he wanted for me. I know he wants the best for me and he was just trying his best.

“He was trying to be protective but being a pastor and me trying to have a career in music, there could be this friction.

“So I didn’t want a situation whereby I would inform him of my intentions to go and then he would say no. I did that because once he said no, then I couldn’t go because it would be disobedient.

“So, I wanted to be smart, go for it and tell him, ‘daddy I have gone, please pray for me’ like Dare Art Alade sang and I’m happy I did it.

“I would have had to convince him and there would have been no time to do that but then in the end, to God be the glory.

“He wasn’t initially impressed and didn’t like that idea and he actually called the producers of the event and asked me to come back home.

“He said he was not happy at all but then I was able to convince him and beg him.

“Before I returned home, I was a bit scared and I wasn’t sure he would be happy.

“I won’t lie, I was just hoping I made him proud in the house and when I finally placed a call to him, he said something like, ‘now you have my time abi?’

“And I apologised and asked him if I made him proud and he just said “I love you my daughter” and that is just what I want you to know, that my parents are proud of me and I’m looking forward to going home and paying them a visit.”
