An armed robber in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, snatched the mobile phone of a student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe university and took the daring move of uploading his own picture on his victim’s Facebook account (Gabrilla Uchechi Eberechukwu).
The incident happened on Thursday and the unidentified suspect, who changed the victim’s profile picture on Facebook to his, even went as far as sharing an update which then elicited a barrage of abusive comments for his confidence.
Some screenshots below:
One of Eberechukwu’s friends, Ifunanya Joy, commented on the picture, “You stole my friend’s phone. You are a big thief” to which he replied with a laughing emoji.
Joy explained that she had spoken with her friend who explained that the man had taken control of her Facebook account and did not know what to do.
“She doesn’t even know what is going on with her Facebook now,” Joy said.
The suspect’s photograph has been circulating on the social media with messages for help in locating him.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has discovered a $37.5m (N11.75bn) luxury high-rise building on Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, allegedly belonging to the embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
This is just as the EFCC revealed on Friday that it discovered $9.3m and £74,000 belonging to a former Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Andrew Yakubu. The money was allegedly kept in a bungalow situated in the slums of Kaduna.
The two discoveries were made as part of investigations into a string of fraudulent activities in the NNPC, which cost the nation over $20bn at a time the oil price stood at about $100 per barrel on the average.
According to impeccable sources within the EFCC, the building allegedly belonging to Diezani was purchased between 2011 and 2012. It is situated in the same estate where Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, resides.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the building comprises 18 flats and six penthouses.
Properties on Banana Island are believed to be among the most expensive in Africa with a plot of land selling between $4m (N1.25bn) and $6m (N1.8bn), according to Forbes Magazine.
A source at the EFCC said,
“The aggressive drive by the EFCC to recover all hidden assets of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is under investigation for corruption and money laundering, produced another breakthrough this week with the discovery of a property acquired through shell companies by the former minister at upscale Banana Island in Lagos.
“The property is a 15-storey edifice comprising 18 flats and six penthouses.
“The property was acquired by the former minister between 2011 and 2012 at a total cost of $37.5m from the developers, YF Construction Development and Real Estate.
The property was allegedly acquired in the name of a shell company, Rusimpex Limited under the control of certain Mr. Afamefuna Nwokedi of Stillwaters law firm, in Lagos.”
Last year, the commission seized an $18m mansion in the Asokoro area of Abuja allegedly belonging to the ex-minister.
She has, however, denied all the allegations leveled against her.

Wife of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Mrs Uchechi Nnamdi Kanu, in an interview with ThisDay, said her husband is so obsessed with the Biafra that the he would gladly sacrifice her, their children and other family members for the struggle.
Excerpts from the interview are seen below:
It’s a year since your husband was detained by the federal government, how has your family been fairing without him?
My husband’s absence is being felt in the family as would any family without the head, but we are holding up alright under the circumstance we find ourselves.
Under this circumstance, would you advise him to dump the struggle and return to you, if you had the opportunity?
No. I will not advise my husband to jettison the struggle come what may. Anybody advising him to jettison the struggle, he will despise. That is his personality. To him, freedom from oppression is the holy grail. All he thinks about is Biafra and he would always say that he can only be regarded as a complete man when he’s able to rise up in the morning as a free man with Biafran flag flying on top of our house. That is what he always told me.
Okay, your husband’s insistence on the struggle makes him come across as a stubborn man. Can you tell us about him, how he lived in the house and the fond memories you have of him?
My husband is indomitably obstinate when it comes to fighting a good cause – he abhors oppression. My husband is a kind-hearted and very intelligent man, whose witticism can crack your ribs for a very long time. When he is at home, you will know. He is a man that is obsessed with Biafra to the point of insanity and many times he has said publicly that he would gladly sacrifice me, the children and the wider family, if that is what it would take for Biafra to be free. That is the type of man Nigeria is facing, and that is the kind of man my husband is.
How did you meet him, and what has marrying him been like?
I met my husband in my hometown but that will be a story for another time.
Why not now?
It won’t be now. I can only tell you that being married to my husband has been ethereal even though as with every marriage it has its ups and downs. This period especially, encapsulates this feeling more than any other period. I feel down because he is not here with us but at the time I feel elated because he is fighting a noble cause – the contradictions of life.
When you first met him, did he come across to you as a freedom fighter?
Not at first, because he probably didn’t want to frighten me with it. As it turned out he kept it very close to his chest. You wouldn’t think he is because he is a softly-spoken gentleman and sometimes very reserved. The one thing that stood out from day one was that he abhors injustice against all peoples and was always complaining about how poor people were treated anytime he visited home from the UK.
He would complain about everything that is wrong with the society from poor electricity supply to inadequate housing, bad roads, check points, general poverty and every other social problem plaguing the people. It never occurred to me at the time that he would regard the liberation of Biafra as that all-encompassing solution to effect those improvements in our lives that he talked endlessly about.
What do you tell your kids about their father, do they know what he is passing through?
I tell them “daddy is home making sure our people are set free so we can all go home to Biafra and live because England is not our home”. Though our children are born in England, they are not English or British. They know they are Biafran and that is their identity and Biafra is our home and their father is making sure that it’s as good a place as England, so they and all kids in Biafraland can have all the things that children have where we are now in England when we finally move back to where we come from.

One 38 years old Mr. Hassan Joshua, has been sentenced to two months imprisonment in Abuja for criminal breach of trust and cheating, after he was unable to pay back his customer’s N430,000.
Joshua, a welder, who resides at Nimasa Estate, Gwarimpa, Abuja, said he paid the money into the money doubling scheme, Movrodi Mondial Movement (MMM).
The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, had told the court that one Mr. Fagbo Tubosun of Gwarimpa Estate reported the matter at Gwarimpa Police Station on February 7.
Dalhatu said the convict was given the money in October 2016 to construct a water tank and doors.
“After collecting the money, he refused to do the work and he absconded to an unknown destination,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, Joshua confessed to the crime.
The judge, at the Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave him N10,000 option of fine and warned him to desist from committing crime, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The judge also ordered the convict to pay N430,000 to the complainant. His offence is punishable under Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
U.S President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban will remain blocked – this is according to a federal appeals court ruling late Thursday.
The unanimous ruling from a three-judge panel means that citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries will continue to be able to travel to the US, despite Trump’s executive order last month.
“On the one hand, the public has a powerful interest in national security and in the ability of an elected president to enact policies,” the judges wrote. “And on the other, the public also has an interest in free flow of travel, in avoiding separation of families, and in freedom from discrimination. We need not characterize the public interest more definitely than this… The emergency motion for a stay pending appeal is denied.”
The ruling is a significant political setback to Trump’s new administration and raises questions about how the courts will view his apparent vision for an expansive use of executive power from the Oval Office on which he is anchoring the early weeks of his presidency.
Trump immediately tweeted his reaction to the ruling:
“SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!”
Ugandan media socialite Zari Hassan has revealed why she and Tanzania bongo superstar Diamond Platinumz aren’t officially married yet.
Speaking to a local Tanzanian radio station, Zari said she wants the biggest wedding affair in East Africa but first, some conditions have to be met.
“We are not under pressure to exchange vows, we have never sat down to plan out wedding despite having two children together. But before all this, we first want to advance our economic investments.
“We will settle down formally once we build our children apartments which will help them in the future, even if we won’t be around,” said Zari as quoted on Clouds FM on Thursday, February 9.
In spite of these conditions, Diamond is scheduled to visit her parents for a formal introduction in March 2017 where he will seek Zari’s father’s blessings.
Zari and Diamond have been the face of bongo love after the 36-year-old Ugandan mother of five fell in love with 26-year-old Diamond Platinumz.
They have two equally famous children; Princess Tiffah and Prince Nilan.
According to Edaily, despite the fairy tale affair, Sheikhs are not impressed by them because of “Zari’s habit of siring children out of wedlock” which is not in accordance with Islamic teaching.

Ghanaian actress and movie producer, Yvonne Nelson, was photoed on a British Broadcasting Corporation live show yesterday, where she talked about her career, charity, dumsor in Ghana and a lot more.
A 45-year-old applicant, Wahabi Sodiq, told an Igando Customary Court in a Lagos suburb on Thursday:
“I caught my wife in her shop cutting a man’s nails.”
Sodiq made the allegation while testifying in a divorce case filed by his wife, Kudirat, 44, a public bar operator, seeking dissolution of their 24-year-old marriage over threat to her life.
“I believe my wife is having extra marital affairs. I got to her shop and met her with a man who placed his legs on her table while my wife was cutting his nails.
“Immediately the man saw me, he quickly removed his legs from her table but I did not say anything; I left immediately.
“Since that day I became bitter because I felt cheated; I have given her Holy Bible and Quoran several times to swear that she was not dating the man but she refused,” he told the court.
On the allegation that he beats the woman, he denied, saying:
”I only beat my wife once since we got married and I did that because she assaulted me.
“Anytime my wife goes to her shop, she will not come home for days; she prefers sleeping in her shop.
“She also loves going to parties without my consent and whenever she returns and I queried her she will turn it to a fight.”
The husband, however, pleaded with the court not to grant his wife’s request for a dissolution of their marriage, saying “I still love her.”
Kudirat, responding to the husbands submission, said:
“My husband is always threatening to kill me and suffocate me to death with a pillow. I am always afraid to sleep at home and because of the fear, I packed some of my belongings back to my parent’s house”, she said.
The petitioner also accused her husband of planning to sell the house she laboured to build. She said,
“My husband called me on phone and threatened to sell my house if I refused to come back to our matrimonial home.”
Kudirat alleged that her husband was in the habit of chasing away her customers, accusing her of infidelity.
The mother of four, who said she had no emotion or love for him anymore, urged the court to dissolve the marriage.
The court’s President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, ordered both parties to come along with three members of their families for a possible resolution and reunion at the next hearing date.
