Presiding pastor of Miracle House of God Prophetic Ministry in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Prophet Great Emokpae, who was accused of being involved in an amorous affair with the wife of one Anthony Ehikioya, has denied the allegation.
Ehikioya had last Sunday, accused Emokpae of having a romantic relationship with his wife after he reportedly obtained an audio recording of a conversation between the two.
He also accused his wife, Bridget, of infidelity, an allegation she also denied. The development led to the destruction of some property belonging to the church on Ituanyemwangbon Street by a group of angry youths.
The police had also launched a manhunt for the pastor, after he reportedly fled the area.
But Emokpae, who spoke with journalists on Friday, said though he had earlier been threatened by the complainant, he was surprised to see the level of damage done to his church.
He noted that he had to run for his life when he saw the mob. He explained,
“I was so surprised when I came to church on (that) Sunday. Meanwhile, the man had threatened that he would destroy my church. As I was going to church, I saw a crowd. Some were holding machetes and different weapons.
“I had to run for my dear life. I am not on the run. They are going to pay for everything they have destroyed because I am really innocent. Heaven and God bear me witness; I don’t know what they have accused me about.”
The pastor also denied any connection with the fetish items said to have been found in the church. He added,
“Before my arrival at the church, they (mob) were there. The only things I make use of are my Bible, staff and girdle; any other thing, apart from the ones I mentioned, was brought by them.”
The wife of the complainant said that she had been rebuked on several occasions by her husband for attending the church with her children.
Bridget said,
“I told my husband that if he thought that it (adultery) happened, he should take me to my people so that they would know what to do. He went to his people and told me not to enter his house again.”
“I have been in Ekpoma since last Friday. I am innocent and the man (pastor) is innocent. The pastor is good to me and my family. I don’t have anything with the pastor and he doesn’t have anything with me,” she added.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Nkombe, told PUNCH that the pastor was still on the run. Nkombe, however, added that the complainant was assisting the police with the investigation.
“He is still on the run. The husband of the woman is helping us to trace them. Once the arrest is made, I will let you know,” Punch reports he said.

Days after the accidental bombing by a Nigerian air force jet, which killed at least 54 persons, Rann IDP Camp in Borno State came under another attack, this time, by Boko Haram insurgents.
Witnesses in Rann said soldiers deployed to secure the bombed IDP camp battled for hours to repel over 100 Boko Haram gunmen who came attacking at about 6pm.
A source from Rann said the soldiers stood their ground and killed eight of the attacking insurgents. The source, who asked not to be quoted for his security sake, said a soldier was wounded in the attack.
On Tuesday, the Theatre Commander of the Lafiya Dole counterinsurgency operations in northeast Nigeria, Major General Lucky Irabor, said the air force jet that mistakenly bombed the IDP camp was actually deployed to take on an idea identified location where Boko Haram insurgents were gathering in Kala-Balge local government area of Borno State.
The Air Force said the bombings were aimed at Boko Haram militants. It is not clear if the gang of Boko Haram insurgents that attacked Rann last night were those missed by the airforce jet.

Two married women who are alleged members of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Isolo were caught exchanging fisticuffs in public, which is rather unusual for members of the well known Holy and decent church.
The two women, whose names were given as a 58-year-old Nwazema Oluchukwu, and 34-year-old Chizoba Alloy Njoku were charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court by the police over an allegation of husband snatching and public fighting.

Jumoke Odetola in her case lived up to standard as we approached her to flaunt one of our designs on social media, she responsibly did as agreed an even advertised our company to a few friends while Mercy Aigbe on the other hand collected the sewn garment, wore it to occasions, flaunted it on IG and refused to tag our Company which was the gentleman agreement we had. Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II called on wealthy Northerners to use the wealth Allah has blessed them with, not only in building mosques but to also educate young girls and discourage their early marriage.
The royalty made the call on Thursday in his keynote address at the 3rd international conference on Islamic Banking and Finance, organised by the International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, Bayero University, Kano.
He said,
“I’m just tired of people coming to me to say I want to build a new mosque. You know, we keep building mosques and our daughters are illiterates.
“So, my appeal is that if you really want to help Kano, don’t come to me with a request to build a N300m mosque because I have enough mosques everywhere. And if I don’t have a mosque, I’ll build it myself. If you really want to help, go and educate a girl child in the village.”
According to him, over 50 per cent of girls between the age bracket of 18 and 20 were given out in marriage in this part of the country.
He added that the worrisome dimension of it was that 75 per cent of them could neither read nor write. Calling for a review of laws to prevent early marriage and encourage girl-child education, he said,
“It is not a mere coincidence that this is where you have the highest levels of illiteracy, early marriage, divorce and the highest levels of domestic violence…
“People need to understand that the law has to change. If you look at the medical data on maternal health, girls who get pregnant below the age of 15 are five times as likely to die as girls who get pregnant at the age of 20. Those who get pregnant under 18 are twice as likely to die as those who get pregnant at the age of 20. So, it is important that we look at this issue of early marriage.”
Two private school teachers identified as Stanley Akanno and Olakunle Hassan, in Amuwo Odofin, were yesterday paraded by Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, AIG Kayode Aderanti, for serially defiling their 6-year-old female pupil.
The teachers, he said, during extra mural classes, showed pornography on their laptop to the pupil and made her practice same on them.
“The pupil has been taken to a government hospital where it was medically established that she had been deflowered. The suspects will soon be charged to court,” Aderanti said.
They were arrested following suspicion by the girl’s mother that her daughter has suddenly become sexually active. The girl’s mother, while narrating how the daughter was defiled, said:

Publisher of Premium Times, Dapo Olorunyomi and judiciary correspondent, Evelyn Okakwu who were arrested at around 5:00 p.m on Thursday evening, have been released.
The duo were released on bail and were instructed to report at the FCT Police Command Headquarters by 8:00 a.m. Friday morning. The journalists were arrested after several plain-clothed officers raided PREMIUM TIMES office.
The newspaper’s managing editor, Idris Akinbajo, hailed the “overwhelming” support from Nigerians and readers around the world. He said the paper would release a full statement after the journalists meet the police on Friday morning.

Borno State Commissioner for Health, Dr Haruna Mshelia in situation update on Thursday, said the State Specialist Hospital currently has 68 of the victims after those initially hospitalized at the military hospital at 7th Division of the Nigerian Army were all moved to the State Specialist Hospital on Thursday.
He noted that 5 victims are at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, making 73 persons. The Commissioner said two of the victims were unfortunately lost, one died at the State Specialist Hospital while the other, died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
“But happily, five have been discharged by doctors after they were certified to have fully regained their health. We are also hopeful that all the rest will be fine by the Grace of God. Nigerians should pray for their speedy recovery” the Commissioner said.
Dr. Mshelia however said 42 victims with minor injuries will remain in Rann given the fact that medical teams from the MSF, the ICRC and the State Government and other partners have enough medical supplies and health workers which make them capable of addressing their health needs.
The Commissioner lauded the efforts of the MSF, the ICRC and the UN for their extraordinary commitment to meeting the emergency humanitarian needs of the victims. On death toll, Dr Mshelia said it will be announced soon after all stakeholders harmonize their records based on number of bodies buried and those recovered.
