Man sets his wife, and 11 year old daughter on fire over property

joshua-and-gbemi

A 43-year-old teacher, Gbemisola Edward, and her 11-year-old daughter, Dolapo, have been confirmed dead at an Ogun State hospital after suffering from severe burns.

The woman’s husband, Joshua, was said to have poured petrol on her, their daughter, and his seven-year-old son, Samson, and set fire on them.

PUNCH Metro learnt the incident happened on Thursday on Augustine Street, Ire Akari Estate, in the Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, after a disagreement between the couple.

Gbemisola’s son, Joshua Babatunde, 16, who escaped by a whisker, said his stepfather had wanted his mother to sell their three-bedroomed apartment, but she refused.

He said, “It was the scream of my mother that woke me up. Dolapo and Samson were also set ablaze. I wanted to put out the fire when my stepfather poured petrol on me as well. Before he returned with matches, I managed to escape and reported at the Ifo Police Station.

“He was working with a factory but was sacked some months ago. He then told my mother to sell the house so that he could use the money to start a business. But my mother said she would never sell the house she struggled to build.

“We moved into the house in January. The following month, he and Samson started living with us. It was a woman at our former residence in Iyana Ipaja (Lagos State) that bore Samson for him. He used to beat mum while we were in Iyana Ipaja.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that Joshua fled immediately the incident happened, while the victims were admitted to Aron Hospital, a private facility in the area.

Dolapo was said to have died a few minutes after she got to the hospital while the mother died on Friday.

Samson, who has burns in the head, hands and legs, is still responding to treatment.

Gbemisola’s brother, Wale, said she had always been abused by the husband, adding that constant beatings forced her to relocate from Iyana Ipaja to Ifo.

He said, “Their relationship had been fraught with quarrels since when he was living with my sister in our house at Iyana Ipaja. There was a time he threatened to kill her with a machete. He stole her money and fled.

“When he knew my sister had built a house, he went there to reconcile with her. She insisted that they needed to go to the registry which they did in February. I visited my sister two weeks ago. She said her husband had been threatening her again and that she had told him to leave by the end of August.

“It was on Thursday afternoon that I got a call that he set her and the children ablaze.”

The Managing Director, Aron Hospital, Dr. Kayode Ayoola, said, “The burns were serious. The girl died about 10 minutes after she was admitted, while her mother died the following day. The boy’s condition is relatively okay but nobody is ready to take care of him.”

The Ogun State Police Command’s acting spokesperson, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command had launched a manhunt for the killer husband.

He said, “We learnt the man and his wife had a quarrel over the ownership of the house they lived in. While the family was asleep, the man poured patrol on the living room and set it ablaze. As a result, the woman and the two children suffered first degree burns. The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the suspect be fished out. He can only run, he cannot hide.”

Naira Falls Further against dollar….See new rates

Naira-Dollar

The naira fell to a new low of 414 against the United States dollar on Sunday amid the continued scarcity of foreign exchange in the country, with economic experts predicting further pressure in the forex market this week.

The development came five days after the Central Bank of Nigeria had banned nine commercial banks from the forex market for failing to remit the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s $2.334bn into the Treasury Single Account in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive last September.

The naira was sold for 414/dollar across some black market segments in Lagos and Abuja on Sunday. It hit an all-time low of 412 against the greenback at the parallel market on Friday, after closing at 409/dollar on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a day after the CBN banned the nine banks from the forex market, the local currency depreciated to 402/dollar, down from the 397 it closed against the greenback on Tuesday.

Forex dealers said the demand pressure on the dollar, mounted by summer travellers and parents paying schools fees of their children studying overseas, was exacerbated by the CBN’s forex ban on the nine lenders.

The currency dealers said the naira started falling after the CBN banned the lenders from forex transactions.

It first touched 400/dollar at the black market this month since the CBN floated the currency on the official interbank market in June.

At the interbank market, the naira closed at 314.95 on Friday, with traders saying interbank rates would ease this week when part of July’s budget allocation must have entered the banking system.

But experts said the naira would plunge further against the US dollar this week at the parallel market as forex supply remained a major challenge.

Forex traders said even though the CBN had continued to sell dollars daily on the interbank market, its efforts were considered weak and inadequate, Reuters reported.

The Chief Executive Officer, Cowry Asset Management Limited, Mr. Johnson Chukwu, said, “There is nothing in the policy environment that will arrest the decline unless the central bank has increased capacity to supply the market, which unfortunately it doesn’t have. So, we should expect the naira to remain under pressure in the coming week.”

He said for the naira to stabilise, there must be a funding that the Federal Government or the CBN could access, such as a credit support from either the World Bank or a trading partner like China.

Chukwu said, “The decline of the naira against the dollar is beyond the recent suspension of some banks from the forex market. We have witnessed suspension of banks in the past, and it did not lead to any spike in exchange rate. The major challenge we have now is supply shortage. If that improves, naira will stabilise.”

He said the naira might hit a low of 420 to the dollar this week.

A currency analyst at Ecobank, Mr. Kunle Ezun, said the supply issue, ban on 41 items from the official forex market and activities of speculators would continue to push the value of the dollar up against the naira.

He said, “Sincerely, there is no major thing that one can expect in the parallel market. The only thing that could bring calm to the market is the supply of the US dollar. What we have in the market is basically demand and supply interplay.”

According to him, the volatility in the parallel market will continue as the importers of the banned 41 items have resorted to the market.

“A lot of people in the official market will want to actually maximise the gains on their dollar holding by channelling it through the parallel market,” Ezun said.

“5 Types Of Photos You Should Completely Keep Off Social Media”

high

1. Nudes, obviously

I’d like to think we all know this, but when models and celebrities are flashing side-boob and booty (or the rest of themselves), it may seem like an awesome idea to do the same to boost your popularity. Bad idea. Keep in mind it can be tacky and used against you by someone else. But you can post these beautiful N.Ude shoes.

2. Anything with your address or personal information on it.

Although it’s true that anyone who really wanted to find you probably could, you don’t need to help them — especially if you’re posting photos about being on vacation or away from home for any length of time. Don’t invite thieves to your empty home.

3. Anything that shows you getting high/drunk

Consider what a potential employer might think if somehow they saw a photo of you smoking weed or getting sloppy drunk. Save it for your cell phone and not for the public.

4. Endless photos of you and your boyfriend/girlfriend kissing

A few are cute, a thousand mean I’m unsubscribing, because clearly you two don’t do anything but suck face.

5. Revenge photos

Have you ever seen that girl who just got cheated on and proceeded to post every inappropriate photo of her ex that she could find? Personal ones, embarrassing ones, just downright weird ones? Yeah… don’t be that girl.

Rich Man Dumps Wife After She Lost Her Breast to Cancer….Then She storms venue of his wedding to younger woman

unnamed

Guests gathered on Saturday, August 20, to witness an ageing wealthy real estate manager John Njuguna Ng’ang’a wed youthful businesswoman Anne Wairimu at her Ruiru home and thereafter polish off a lavish buffet laid out in their honour.

But before one could say coitus interruptus, Jane Njeri Njuguna, the old man’s first wife, stormed the scene accompanied by the Officer Commanding Ruiru Police Station, waved a court injunction in the air and blew the hopes for a sumptuous meal for the guests sky high.

So big was the spanner that Njeri threw in the works that her husband spent that night being feasted on by mosquitoes in a police cell instead of frolicking with his new dearly beloved in a honeymoon suite. As the two women engaged in a scuffle at the wedding, the old man was whisked off to Ruiru Police Station.

Njeri, a nurse, now says her husband opted for a second wife because one of her breasts was surgically removed due to cancer and that at one time, he even insulted her that she no longer has anything special for him.

“He has a right to marry even 10 wives, but what I want is the property I acquired with him. It is painful to see another woman enjoying my sweat after I have endured a lot of ridicule,” said Njeri.

Another relative who declined to be named said, “We were shocked and ashamed when our mum revealed how Njuguna insulted her that she is useless now that she has nothing on her chest for enjoyment.”

When we spoke to Njuguna at the police station, he declined to share his side of the story and instead just laughed off the matter.

Njeri claims she was shocked to learn that Njuguna had found a younger woman to marry just days to the secret wedding, forcing her to seek intervention from the courts.

“When the order was delivered at the woman’s house where the wedding was supposed to be held, he was not around, but he later signed it,” a close relative told The Nairobian. “We thought he would obey the order, only for word to reach us that the wedding was going on. Luckily, we arrived in time and saved the situation.”

Njeri says she met Njuguna in college in Machakos and that their love blossomed in Kakamega where he was posted as a clinical officer and where she worked briefly as a nurse.

The two tied the knot at a church wedding in Thika following her transfer from Kakamega.

“I decided to quit the government after we got married. We opened our own clinic to allow us to settle down and raise a family like anyone else,” said the mother of six.

With money rolling in, the couple lived on the fast lane, raising their children and investing in plots and other businesses until misfortune struck in 2004.

“I realised I had a lump in my right breast and upon further investigation, it was confirmed that I had breast cancer,” Njeri reveals, saying she opted for a mastectomy to save her life.
Life then moved on smoothly for the couple as “Njuguna was supportive.” When he was attacked by thugs who seriously injured his limbs and left him confined to wheelchair for three years, Njeri claims she took care of him until he healed.

Then in 2012, Njuguna teamed up with a close relative who works in real estate and deals in houses of high-profile figures in government and with time rose to the position of a manager of the company. That, apparently, is when things started to fall apart.

“Around 2013 and 2014, he started changing and would even step away from me whenever he received a phone call. Things moved from bad to worse when, in August 2015, he came home and found me in bed. I remember he insulted me about my body and kicked me out of the house saying his home was not a hospital ward and I ought to find one,” said Njeri.

Sensing danger, Njeri says she left for her parents’ home where she opened a small business to sustain her life before Njuguna’s brother intervened and brought her back home.

“I returned to my matrimonial home briefly but fled when he arrived in a foul mood and attempted to attack me,” she claimed.

Doctors At Turkish Hospital in Abuja Reveal What Actually Killed Senator Stella Oduah’s Son

oduah

It has been confirmed from medical professionals at the Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja that Stella Oduah’s son, Maxwell Omabuwa Chinedu Etoromi, died after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

According to doctors who spoke with SaharaReporters, anonymously Mr. Etoromi was admitted into their care from another hospital-Zankli Medical Centre-, but died almost promptly.

“He was brought to us with the request that we admit him, and we said, why not?” one of the doctors told our correspondent. He added: “Despite our best efforts he died in our care just 30 minutes after we admitted him. We could not do anything to revive him because he arrived in a coma. We tried cardiac life support, but it was too late by the time he arrived.”

Another doctor who spoke to SaharaReporters said Mr. Etoromi arrived at their health facility with a “subarachnoid hemorrhage” on Thursday evening around 6PM and was already in the worst stage of coma possible, he died some 30 minutes later.

Subarachnoid hemorrhaging can have several causes, including a traumatic head injury, a bleeding disorder, or the incorrect use of blood thinning medication.

The medical doctors who spoke with a correspondent of SaharaReporters said they were in no position to immediately declare the cause of Mr. Etoromi’s death, but said they just issued a death certificate in which they reported that that he had significant hemorrhaging.

A source close to Ms. Oduah, a former Minister of Aviation and current senator representing Anambra State, told SaharaReporters that Mr. Etoromi had been given the wrong kind of medication after he had his tooth pulled at another hospital creating complications that ultimately led to his death.

God will soon declare me god – Bishop Obinim

obinims

Embattled founder of the International God’s Way Church Bishop Daniel Obinim has revealed that he will soon be declared a god by God Himself.

In a interview with Joy FM, Bishop Obinim who is currently under separate investigations for an alleged GHC11.6 million fraud and assault after publicly flogging two teenage members of his church over alleged fornication and attempted abortion, said an encounter with Jesus Christ convinced him that he will soon be declared a god.

“I saw Jesus Christ in my dreams who said: ‘Collect this angelic gift.’ So, if I’m faithful to Jesus Christ, maybe the next spiritual gift He will confer on me will be a replica of what happened in Exodus Chapter 7 in the Bible where God told Moses that: ‘Now I’ve made you God, so whatever you say is final. But now God has not made me God. Maybe the next time God will say: ‘Obinim, now I’ve made you a god, you can even conjure up money’,”

The controversial pastor also vowed to ruthlessly deal with his accuser and everybody who made mockery of him after his arrest.

“The Bible says: ‘Touch not my anointed.’ To those who contracted my accuser to disgrace me, I leave all of you to Jesus Christ in heaven. That Bismark Kusi who accused me, his family and those who appeared as witnesses, I will deal with them spiritually; my father Jesus Christ who you disgraced will never allow you to have peace. You will see what will happen to you,” he said.

Angel Obinim also revealed that he has enough properties, including 20 houses and several cars which makes it strange for anybody to accuse him of fraud.

“I have more than 20 houses given to me by Jesus Christ. I had about eight Range Rover cars which I gifted to my pastors. I had five Infinity SUVs and three Chryslers which I also gifted to my pastors because my car is ‘AUTOBIOGRAPHY’, meaning the car’s brain power is superior to that of a human being. If you cross that car, it stops automatically, and its door is not slammed, it shuts by itself. It is also bulletproof” he boasted.

The Bishop was granted bail on Thursday, August 25, after two nights in police cells, watch a video of him arriving home below:

The suspect has been granted conditional bail and would be arraigned before the Parramatta Local Court on September 20.

My Ex Girlfriend’s Family Stopped Her From Marrying Me – Nwaogu

nwaogu

Victor Udochukwu Nwaogu is a TV presenter, voice-over artiste and an actor. Nwaogu, who is fond of referring to himself as a ‘little person’, has been in the industry for more than a decade.

He describes his passion for entertainment as overpowering and does not wish he was in any other field.

“The passion is overwhelming; it is beyond seeing actors but getting to learn how the industry plays out. For me there is no better industry I would have been. Even if I was not an actor, I would still have been in the entertainment industry,” he said.

According to Nwaogu, he feels that his height prevents him from accessing big roles as most movies revolve around people of average height.

He said, “If you look around you, society is made up of people of average height, so it will be very difficult for a writer to pick up a pen and start putting down stories that are related to little people like us.”

On his relationship, Nwaogu admitted having had his fair share of heartbreaks. He also told Sunday Scoop how his would be in-laws denied him a wife because of his height.

“I have had my fair share of challenges when it comes to relationships but it is still a normal thing. My last relationship ended because of my height. The problem was not her but her parents. I wanted to take our relationship to the next level. She informed her parents and that was when things started to fall apart. The parents said they wouldn’t assent to it and because my ex is someone who likes to obey her parents, she called off the relationship.”

When asked if he has found any special person, he replied, “It is not about finding a woman; it is about finding a woman that will accept this body, especially in this part of the world.”

Mercy Johnson Says Her Family Is More Important Than Her Career

mercy4

Nollywood star Mercy Johnson has declared that her family and marriage are more important than her acting career.

The actress revealed this in a recent interview:

“I had planned my life right from when I was growing up. I arranged my life the way I wanted it to go. And that is why even when I was at the peak of my career and marriage came, I grabbed it because I know age keeps going and time waits for no one.

“It means that I can have all of my four kids and then still get back to shape and come back to what I love to do. So I am not going to say things like, ‘I don’t want to have kids yet’ or ‘I am not going to get married and I want to keep acting because the young shall always grow’, you are not going to be number one forever. That is why when it is time for you to do something, you do it. Yoruba will always say in their prayers that when the time for a child to talk has come, by the grace of God, she will talk. When it’s time to go to school, he will go to school. That’s what I’m trying to do. I want to define my life in a way my daughter will want to define her own life,” she said.

She further explained

“I think what has got me this far is placing my decisions on a scale of preference. I love what I do, I adore my husband, I adore my kids, so every time I have to make a decision, I pick which is more important, and I start from there. I understand the home front is more important so I manage my home and create time to do what I have to do. I think that has helped me get this far,”

Mercy Johnson is married with 3 kids in 3 years.

She also says although she has worked with several actors and actresses, she would love to work with the likes of Genevieve and Omotola but she just can’t afford to pay them yet.

Speaking on forgetting stars in Nollywood to Punch, she said “Nollywood knows how to forget people.

“I don’t know if I am one of the influential people around, there are ways people have touched my lives as well. I have met different people who have influenced my life positively. Nollywood knows how to forget people.

In Hollywood, you see someone like Gabriella Union who is still relevant. These people started acting way before me. The fact that the stars we used to know are not as relevant as they used to be really hurts me. If I am in a good position to bring them back to create something and make the industry more competitive and fun, why won’t I do that? I have come to realise that working with the people who actually started the industry is way easier than working with the new generation. Not all but some.”

Remmy-Njoku, however, admitted that she would not be able to bring back all the old faces in Nollywood especially the likes of Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji because she can’t seem to afford them just yet.

“I pray someday I will be big enough to work with those big stars. I love them but I am not big enough yet,” she said.

On how motherhood has changed her, “I have added so much weight. If you get married, you start having kids and you get older but I won’t say it has slowed me down. I am growing at a good pace,” she added.

“I Have Been Sleeping In Graves For 30 Years To Get Powers” – Ghanaian Man

grave

Philip Mensah, is a 40-year-old man from the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana who has shocked people with his bizarre lifestyle.

The man revealed that he has spent 30 years with the dead in their damaged tombs, and according to him, he is taking all that step so as to gain spiritual powers.

A report on Adom News reveals that Mr. Mensah made the claim during an interview with Brty Fm, a Koforidua-based radio station.

In an interview, he revealed that in his quest to become spiritually powerful, he ended up under the tutelage of Togbe Azakli, a spiritualist at Anum Boso in the region, who ordered him to vacate his original place of abode to the broken tomb.

He disclosed that “my desire is to gain powers that will enable me to discover hidden secrets like how to tell when one will die, one’s future, how to retrieve stolen items, how to make spiritual money, among many others, made me pay heed to the advice of Togbe Azakli who directed me to spend time with the dead in their broken tombs to gain the spiritual powers that I have been wishing for over the past years.”

According to him, he successfully completed his stay with the dead in the tombs but landed into trouble after the ritual ceremony.

He said he has become addicted to sleeping in broken tombs ever since he completed his spiritual assignment.

Explaining further, Mr Mensah stated that though he attained the enormous powers, he has also cultivated a negative attitude that is negatively affecting his life.

“I cannot spend even two hours of my life without visiting a cemetery. I battle with different spirits, but I do not suffer any spiritual attack whenever I stay in my new home- cemetery.

“Life has become unbearable for me because I cannot even stay with the living and make money out of the powers I have. All efforts to stop this behaviour have proved futile. I am now living the life of the dead. I advise everybody to be cautious when it comes to issues of spiritualism, especially those that are not related to God.”

I Fasted, Prayed Before Returning To Nollywood – Actress, Grace Amah

grace_amah11

When we talk about the old generation of Nollywood actors, Grace Amah will make the list of those being referred to. However this actress didn’t just disappear from our screens.

In an exclusive interview, Amah told Sunday Scoop, how she fasted and prayed before getting back into the industry.

“Actually, it was a lot of work. It wasn’t easy. A lot of fasting and praying went into my decision to return to Nollywood. I had to wait on the Lord, because I had to hear from Him. It suddenly looked as if the name, Grace Amah, wasn’t ringing a bell anymore. It was not easy.

“At some point, I was calling producers and directors. Even the people I knew or used to work with did not seem to be of help. This was the situation until I got a call from Mary Remmy. Since then, I have done several jobs.”

The Ebonyi State-born actress got her big break after she featured in the hit TV series, Superstory’s One Bad Apple. Speaking on what she thinks makes the old Nollywood different from the new Nollywood, she said, “I would say there is a whole lot of difference.

There was this professionalism, love, care but the new Nollywood shows a lot of desperation.

There is a struggle to outshine the other person. It is not a bad development but when it becomes a selfish thing, then there is a problem. Aside from that, there is a lot of improvement in terms of scripting, camera quality and storylines.
