“I’m happy and I’m proud of myself. It wasn’t perfect execution, but I’m proud of myself. I wanted to set myself apart from everybody else and this is the Olympics, I have to do it.
“I came to this Olympics to win three gold medals, to prove myself again as one of the greats.”

According to sources, the incident occurred in front of their villa in Hor Al Anz area of Dubai on Friday morning.
Abid, a resident of Dubai from the Indian state of Kerala, was taking the vehicle out while his daughter Sama immediately ran to the vehicle, a relative of Abid said.
He didn’t notice Sama and ran over the baby unintentionally. The tragic accident took place on Friday at around 1pm.
Brigadier Saif Al Mazroui, head of Dubai Traffic Police, said: “Although the man rushed his daughter to the hospital, she couldn’t make it. She died on arrival.”
Al Mazroui said that the case has been referred to prosecution.

A 23-year-old woman from Kajiado, Kenya is currently nursing wounds she suffered from a brutal beating allegedly orchestrated by her 85-year-old husband.
Jane Sankei said her elderly husband ordered his sons to beat her for returning home late from a river.
According to the area Assistant Chief and the woman herself, the suspects who were her husband’s sons who were all older than her, they beat her up and stripped her naked in front of her young daughter.
After the beating, she picked up her child and ran straight to the home of the Assistant Chief who took a pity on the mother and child and gave them a place to sleep that night.
The next day he took them to a nearby police station so she could make a report and write a statement and then to the hospital where her broken bones were treated and other parts of her body were treated as well.
A grassroots non-governmental organization known as ‘Networking for women’ has promised to help her seek justice against her husband and his sons.
According to Nollywood diva, Queen Nwokoye, not every actress took a short cut to stardom, stating that she is proudly one of them.
Nwokoye was reacting to the topic concerning actresses who sleep with movie directors in an interview published by Punch News’ Sunday Scoop on August 14, 2016.
She stated that she has been fortunate not to be in that type of situation, and that unlike most people, she did not have to relocate to Lagos before she became a star.
“Lagos is too rowdy. It’s too busy for me. In Lagos, everybody is hustling. I am not a hustler. All my life, I have never had to hustle for anything, anything I have came to me, including stardom.”
“If it is true that actresses have to sleep with producers to get roles, I’m happy I didn’t have to do so. Sometimes, it is people’s way of trying to explain away their failure. I didn’t pass through it.”
“From my experience, nobody ever asked to sleep with me. If you present yourself as someone that can sleep around to get roles, people will treat you that way. But the truth is how many people do you want to sleep with before you become famous?”

Lola Rae is gradually finding her way into the Nigerian music scene or maybe she has if you are a music lover. The 25-year old in a chat with Samuel Olatunji has however defended women who hardly cook for their husbands. Lola says, please don’t blame them especially if they have a career.
According to her she can cook for her husband if she is a full house wife, but in this case whereby she has a striving career she might not be able to do that despite she loves to cook. Hear her;
“Yes, I was brought up in a home where my mum cooked for my dad every single day, but she was a housewife. My thought is if you have the time, it is okay to cook for your husband, but in a situation where you are a career woman and don’t have the time to cook, there are ways you can go about it. You can hire someone to do the cooking for you or cook in bulk on weekends and store in the freezer.”
Speaking further, she said she would cook if she had the time.
“Definitely, if I have the time, I will cook because I love to do so. If God allows me and gives me the time do that, I will cook every day.”
Blogger, Linda Ikeji was the first to publish the story that the #SaveMayowa Campaign which raised over 100m and $100k was a scam.
After days has gone by, the Police has investigated the issue and can authoritatively tell Nigerians that it wasn’t a scam campaign.
Linda has since apologized for publishing the story. What she wrote below:
People who know me well will tell you that the easiest and fastest way to get money out of me is to tell me you’re sick. I hate seeing people that helpless.
Over the years, I’ve donated and also used my platform to raise money for several sick people, including Mayowa Ahmed.
Early morning on July 28th, I received a call saying the #SaveMayowa campaign was a scam. That the lady was terminally ill and the family had no intentions of using the money raised for her health to treat her as they had no invite from the hospital in Atlanta, neither did she even have a visa to the US. Please continue…
They wanted me to blog it quickly so people could stop donating. I found it hard to believe at first but it was coming from people who were directly involved in raising money for the sick girl. I sent someone to LUTH to investigate, he got there and found chaos. The Police was already involved, people were being questioned, some folks were shouting, he spoke to people in the hospital and many seemed confused. I spoke with those who had called me, and they said 1000%, the whole thing was a scam.
And I sincerely believe that at the time they told me this, they genuinely believed it to be a fact. I don’t think it was done maliciously. After they sent me documents showing the hospital in Atlanta was not really involved in Mayowa’s treatment and LUTH medical directors denied knowledge of a fund raising for the sick girl, I believed it to also be a fact! And I wrote it. My mistake, I think, was owning the story, I probably should have quoted them. And maybe investigated more. My apologies to the family! The post has since been taken down.
After investing properly, the police found it wasn’t a scam, that it was more a miscommunication between the parties helping to raise funds and the girl’s family. I spoke about the issue with the Lagos police PPRO and she assured me that the family didn’t have bad intentions.
What I am happy about is that; even if the family had had dubious intentions initially, now they can’t do any of that, as everyone is now watching. So maybe a good thing came out of the whole chaos.
The happy news is that Mayowa has been flown to South Africa for treatment. She left Nigeria on Thursday August 11th.
May God use her case to show that He is God!
Let’s continue to pray for her!
Veteran actor, Pete Edochie, is angry! The thespian said even in this age and craze for social media, he doesn’t have any account yet so many accounts have his name and so many posts are attributed to him.
In a telephone chat with Punch, the actor said he was tired of people using his name falsely on social media.
“Right now, I’m watching football in my house, but as I speak to you, some people are posting on Facebook or Twitter, using my name and picture. It’s either they are talking about politics, state of the nation, ascribing series of proverbs to me or using my name to counsel people about marriage. Someone asked me how I had time to put plenty proverbs on Facebook. I told the person I wasn’t responsible for them and that I didn’t even have a Facebook account, and she couldn’t believe it. Some people said I sat with Mourhino in one of the profile pictures and that I was telling him the gods were angry with him. Then, they posted another one that Buhari came to consult with me in my shrine.
“From time to time, you would hear or read that Pete Edochie died in London or on location. In our culture, if people wish you dead, you’d attend the person’s funeral. I’m satisfied with what life has given me. I don’t envy anybody and I don’t want to be anybody. I just want to be left alone as Pete Edochie.
“Somebody woke me up a few days ago and pointed my attention to what was written in my name about (Senator Ike) Ekweremadu. I was surprised. I don’t know him neither do I have any issue with him.
Again, few days ago, it was also posted that Federal Government needed me for something. All the nonsense people write about me, I’m not happy about it.
“I’m not a politician, and I am not the only actor in this country. Throughout the campaign during the last general election, I didn’t campaign for anybody, yet on the social media you see people using my name to express support for one candidate or the other.”
Edochie said what has saved him in all these is his command of English and his intelligence.
“I speak very good English, and those posting those things in my name write in the way I can never write. That is the saving grace. Just recently, someone informed me that he saw somewhere in my name that I wrote on one of these platforms that people should come and pay N50,000, as according to them, I was organising a programme. What programme?”
Edochie said he chose to keep quiet in order not to allow the false stories to continue.
A very shocking and despicable conversation between a white girl and an African boy she threatened to falsely accuse of rape is serving rounds on Social media.
Phillip Ofori, a tweep who shared the story on Twitter, revealed that it happened to his friend.
The young man, who was to be falsely accused, had kicked the white lady out of his hotel room because she was too drunk and acting disorderly only to get the rude threat from her with boastful claims that she can make it happen.
Nollywood sweethearts, Gbenro Ajibade and wife Osas‘ daughter, Azariah got quite a lavish gift from her godfather Amb. Karo Ekewenu yesterday.
The infant’s overwhelmed father took to his IG page to share the news alongside photos.
The gift – an exotic Range Rover SUV, has of course caused some Nigerians to comment – some complaining that the gift was unnecessary – saying why give the child a Range Rover when you can open a trust fund for her instead with the same money.
What are your thoughts? A fine gift or it could have been given in a much wiser way?
A 54 year old Catholic priest has been publicly put to shame after one of his secret wives exposed their affair.
Very Reverend Father Peter Zuni, was the parish priest at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Kakuri parish, Kaduna State. He was engaged in a secret marriage to two women, an act that led to his being disrobed and sack from the priesthood. Parishioners are still in shock following the revelation.
According to Sunday Sun, one of the wives is already late, while the surviving one who blew the whistle about three weeks ago over the secret marriage is said to be nursing a child for the embattled priest.
According to the doctrine of the Catholic Church, only unmarried men are ordained into the priesthood as they are obligated to swear to an oath of celibacy and observe perfect and perpetual service for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.
This, it is believed, would enable the priests to easily remain close to Christ with an undivided heart, and dedicate themselves more freely to the service of God and the congregation.
When Sunday Sun visited the premises of the Queen of the Apostles parish, some parishioners confirmed the report, which they said was initially thought to be mere rumour.
The parishioners who spoke on condition of anonymity said they were shocked and surprised to learn of a petition to the Bishop of Kaduna Archdiocese, Bishop Ndagoso Manoso, that two women had children for their parish priest, an act considered to be an abomination and grave sin against the Catholic doctrine.
They pointed out that in order to cover up the priest’s ‘sin’ from spreading to the larger public, the Archdiocese allegedly organised a send off for the embattled priest to a remote village in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“During the send off, the priest was not allowed to make a farewell speech, and many people refused to take photographs with him. There was little or no felicitation with him because most of the time he was seen standing aloof under a mango tree without anybody going close to him.
“Nobody can say when the priest committed the alleged sinful act. If it happened before his ordination, he wouldn’t have been ordained, so probably it was after his ordination, and you know, God does not sleep, no matter the length of cover up, one day the bubble will burst. And the bubble has burst now,” the parishioner said.
However, when Sunday Sun contacted the disrobed priest on his telephone line, and sought comments on his alleged controversial transfer from the city to a remote village, he said:
“Nobody is ordained to remain and work in the city. I have spent five years as parish priest of Queen of Apostles, so I can work anywhere, city or village.”
On the allegation of his involvement in secret marriage to two women who bore children for him even as a Catholic priest, he neither denied nor confirmed the allegation. Rather he said:
“I find it difficult myself to believe what people are saying about me. I will not comment on it now. I will follow due process to invite you for an interview, but I am afraid, the newspaper of the archdiocese, The Cross News, may carry this story before you (Sunday Sun).”
Rev Fr. Zuni further said he is currently based in Suleja, Niger State. But Sunday Sun gathered that parishioners were made to believe that the embattled priest was transferred to Gumel village in southern Kaduna, while he was actually sacked from the priesthood.
Unfortunately, parishioners lamented that the controversial priest’s first name, Peter, reminded them of the biblical Peter who denied Jesus three times before the cock crowed.
When contacted, the Archbishop of Kaduna Catholic Diocese, Bishop Ndagoso Manoso also confirmed the report to Sunday Sun in his office along Tafawa Balewa Way, Kaduna.
Bishop Manoso who was almost in tears when he spoke on the matter, said Father Zuni actually committed the sin. He said that what the priest did, brought a sad moment and embarrassment to the entire archdiocese.
The embattled priest was his classmate in the seminary more than 30 years ago. Bishop Manoso said that he could imagine the spiritual and psychological torture the priest could be going through over this sinful act.
The Archbishop also expressed worry over the health condition of the disrobed priest who is known to be diabetic and dependent on daily injection of insulin.
On how the bubble burst over the secret matrimonial relationship, Bishop Manoso said the woman at the centre of the storm confronted him with a baby said to belong to Father Zuni, and after due investigation by his office, it was confirmed that the priest was her secret husband.
Bishop Manoso said:
“It is very unfortunate that this thing had to happen in my diocese. It is not an easy thing for me; if I tell you what I have been going through in the past few weeks over this issue; it has not been easy for me. Father Zuni was my classmate; we spent seven years in the seminary. At a time he proceeded to Kaduna Polytechnic and read Accounting.
“But this thing happened and nobody knew. But he has to face the sanction. We sacked and disrobed him because what he did is no longer compatible with his vocation as a priest. It was not true that he was transferred to any village. He was about to be transferred on normal routine, but when I heard of this story, I had to cancel the transfer and sacked him.
“It is true that he had affairs with two women and they both had children for him, but one of the women is late already. We are not God, we did not know on time until now that he was having affairs with two women.”
He spoke further:
“The church said the priest has to go because the church doesn’t allow priests to marry. So he had to go and look after his children and his matrimonial home.
“You can now imagine what the priest is going through, either spiritually or psychologically. He must be going through hell on earth. This is my concern for him now. The woman and the kids will be going through trauma also.
“I have been trying to see how I can help him, but I don’t think I have the skills to help him. But he needs help to come to terms with reality.
“By December he will be 30 years in the priesthood, and he is now 54 years old, so at this age what can he do with his life. Nobody can employ him now. He spent seven years in the seminary and 30 years in the priesthood, and that is 37 years, so what can he do with his life at 54? The church too is going through a lot of trauma, so we need everybody’s prayers for us to put this incident behind us.”
Meanwhile the decision of the Catholic Church to disrobed and sack the priest has stirred reaction from a non-Catholic, Dr David Ehimhen, an optometrist and Pentecostal Christian, who said that the practice of celibacy which was compelled on individuals seeking to become ordained priests in the Catholic Church has clearly become outdated as it had always been contrary to the bible right from inception.
He said that early in the Church Age, Catholic priests were free to marry and have children, but later popes now imposed celibacy on priests.
Over the last 60 years or more, many priests have fallen foul of the rule of celibacy by having secret wives and children. His words:
“Well, right from time, we have always had people that were either in support or against Catholic priests marrying. They have their reasons. Some believe that the person would fully concentrate on the work of God; that is why they say that if you are a priest you should consecrate your life to serving God because they see marriage as a kind of distraction.
I don’t think that I am competent to make an official statement that the doctrine of the Catholic Church is right or wrong. But personally speaking I don’t believe that celibacy is right. That is one of the reasons why I am not a Catholic.
The bible does not say that if you are married you cannot serve God to the best of your ability or you must remain unmarried to be able to serve God well. When you give room to such things, that is why some people may be burning with desire and yet they say they are priests or that they are reverend sisters and yet they are burning with desire. That on its own is a sin. Why not just be yourself?
If you are a Catholic, and want to remain one and you have the grace to remain unmarried, you can go on and become a priest, but if you don’t have the grace, it is better you stop deceiving yourself because such people will not make heaven because they are living a double life. And that is why Apostle Paul also said that people who cannot be celibate but burn with desire should marry.”
The Police Command in Ogun State, has arrested a housewife, identified as Fatimoh Olanrewaju, for allegedly breaking the arms and legs of her 5-year-old stepson, Iyanu.
The toddler is currently on admission at Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Sunday Punch reports. Also the suspect is in custody of the Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the Command.
Olanrewaju had allegedly committed the crime at Onihale village along the old Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway. The biological mother of the victim was said to have divorced the father about two years ago, and the victim had been living with his stepmother and his father.
The stepmother was said to be in the habit of maltreating Iyanu. The last straw was the recent attack on the Iyanu, which resulted in fracture of the arm and leg, which made the neighbours to invite the police.
The victim was said to have been on admission at the FMC, Abeokuta since Thursday, August 11. The acting state Police Public Relations, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, as well as the arrest of the suspect.
Yeah well, as it has become a craze to have a pre-wedding photo sessions in this digital era, lots of creativity has been put into the trendy act.
Days before that couple say “I Do” to each other, they have that photo session of when they were a “To-be-couple” – these sessions have become so rampant in that the scenery of some of them are either adorable, cool, lovely, or absolutely hilarious!
Either ways, these shoots are taken for memory sake of the new couple but thanks to social media, we get to see the best, most creative and all of these photos – something like the one you’re seeing above.
Don’t you just love the concept?! The groom patronizing his bride to be… Hehe… How lovely!
At a time when it has become a trend for celebrities to flaunt their pregnancies online, award-winning writer, Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie, has said that pregnancy is a sacred state that a woman ought to be discreet about.
According to her, this is the reason she did not make it a public matter when she was expecting her child.
In a recent interview with UK’s Channel 4 News, where she spoke about racism in America and the UK, among other matters, Chimamanda said,
“I wanted my pregnancy to be something I shared with the people I love, with the people who know me. There is a kind of pregnancy as a trendy thing that I find very uncomfortable with and I deeply dislike expressions like ‘baby bump’.
“I find it very irritating. It was a very deeply introspective time, thinking about (how) my life is going to change forever and the enormousness of bringing a baby into the world. It was a sacred time for me and I wanted to share it with the people I love.”
Such approach to family matters also affects the way she has been keeping her child who, she, for instance, would want to lead an ordinary but meaningful life.
“I don’t want her to think it is normal to have her picture in newspapers, because it is not. Just because your mother happens to write and sometimes have her pictures in the newspapers, doesn’t mean you get to,” Chimamanda adds.
Although Chimamanda has lived in the US where she has phenomenally flourished as a writer, she is one new-generation Nigerian novelist who has not lost a sense of home.
From one book to the other, she edifies the Igbo spirit and seeks to get answers to socio-political questions that Nigeria still battle with.
Based on the stories she passionately tells in her works, such as Half of a Yellow Sun and Amerikana, she seems to have redefined phenomena such as westernisation, colonisation and globalisation – as she has proved that you can be at home even when you live away from home.
Read The Story Below as shared and narrated by Facebook User, Blessing Nwachukwu.
So many people have wondered who my immediate second sister was. Even friends never met her or saw a pic of her. When she passed away, my mom was so distraught that she burnt all pics and saved only this. Take a good look at this sweet and innocent face. Her name was Grace Chikere Nwosu and she was my sister.
I’m about to tell a story that hasn’t been told since 1994 not to gain sympathy but to advice and change lives. She never got to grow to leave a mark but I hope with this story, she does. I want her to be the face of children’s advocate cos she deserved at least that since her life was cut short at the age of 3 by a 22 year old man named Daniel whom I have never set my eyes on since 1994.
This story is the reason I went into talk show- not for personal fame but hope that one I will be famous enough to get people to hear my story but I can’t keep waiting so if this will save lives, then so be it.
If you know from my stories, we grew up in the slum of Mafoluku, Oshodi. Then when I turned six, my sister was three and my mom went to the hospital to give birth to a third child. Despite being poor, we were a very loving family and my parents still made sure we attended private schools but starved and drank Garri like for real not a metaphor. My mom used to say, education will change our condition.
This story isn’t about me today so I will skip the details of my past. Perhaps someday I will have the courage to tell my own story. So my mom had this house help whose name was Chidinma, she also went to school but lived with us to take care of us after school hours. My mom was a kind soul who took her like her own but Chidinma was blinded by greed. So on that fateful period, my mom went to the hospital with my dad and aunt for some days, Chidinma sold my 3 year old sister for 150 naira to my neighbor, Daniel… I was 6 and had no clue why my sister wasn’t home.
Little did I know that right in our face-me-I face you compound, Daniel RAPED my three year old sister till she bled. They returned her to our home to cover the act but my mom came home that day with my aunt and saw my sister bleeding and unable to move. My kid sister proceeded to give names then fell unconscious… Needless to say, she died after a week. She died on a Friday right in my mom’s arms and in my presence.
My mom dropped the court case and had us move. I never understood why but she said God would enact justice but I wanted court justice. I wanted Daniel to pay for his actions. Pay for robbing the life and innocence of my kid sister. I didn’t get that justice but had to live with that pain for so many years before I learned to forgive.
I put up her pic cos she’s late. The media doesn’t put up pic of rape kids cos they are underage and this perpetrators don’t get to realize what they did emotionally. I don’t know where Daniel is but I hope he sees this and remembers and apologizes to my family cos he not only ruined my sister but my trust in men when I was growing up. Made me live a life in fear of men until my dad, counselor and pastors gave me courage. She’s late since 1994 and she would have been 25.
She was lively and smart and even at three, had more guts than me and always defended me. I have never forgotten anything about her. I loved her and I lost her before we could spend our best years together. Dear rapists, these children are just kids. Helpless, selfless and defenseless. We are to defend them not ruin them. What is sexually attractive about a child? They don’t even have developed sexual organs except for peeing. Parents, be careful of who you entrust your child to. The world is dark. Anything is possible.
In five minutes, a rapist can change the life of their victim and loved ones. Just for five minutes pleasure, you ruin the lives of others. Control your five minutes urge. Sex with a child is without consent cos they are ignorant of life. A child can never seduce you. Please let’s fight for the lives of children. Let’s be Guardians all over the world and weed out perpetrators wherever. Never cover them up in fear of shame.
I put up this pic cos I’m the only legal in age survivor of my family. She’s late now for 22 years so I’m within my law. I wish her rest with the lord. Chikere Grace, mommy, daddy and our brother are with you now. You aren’t alone anymore. May all their souls rest in peace and may my sister’s name be remembered in honor of the lives she will save with her story. Love you all my late family, xoxo.
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Church, popularly called MFM, has denied that eight Nigerians arrested by Cambodian authorities for alleged drug trafficking are its members.
Eight Nigerians were on Tuesday arraigned in Cambodia for allegedly using the MFM premises to deal in illicit drugs.
The accused were: Nnamezie Victor, 30; Francis Nnamdi, 30; Sunday Nwabuisi, 31; Tony Mmaduka Chukwuonye, 34; Okorom Kizito, 35; Favour Nnabuife Okorom, 36; Maduka Simon Ukandu, 37; and Izuchukwu Chukwuma, 40.
Also charged along with them is a Cambodian, Mon Vinyong, 25.
They may face life imprisonment if found guilty by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, in a case that began in January last year. A verdict is expected in September following a final trial last week.
Reacting to the claim that the Cambodian branch of the church was used to trade in drugs, Chairman of MFM Media Committee Worldwide, Oladele Bank-Olemoh, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the accused were not members of the church.
He said linking the accused to the church was an attempt to drag the name of the church through the mud.
“The MFM church is not shut down. Our pastor is there and he’s busy in the ministry. Those arrested are not members of the church. They are neither our missionaries nor workers in the church. The MFM church is the only African church in Cambodia that many black people attend.
“You know the country is a Muslim country. This could be a vendetta against the church. This case (of alleged drug trafficking) happened in 2014. The church was searched and nothing was found, though arrests were made outside the church. We employed a lawyer to prove the church’s innocence,” Bank-Olemoh said.
According to The Cambodia Daily, during the hearing, Vinyong claimed that she received mobile phone boxes from Chukwuonye in 2014 but did not know the boxes were filled with drugs.
The Cambodian publication noted that the eight Nigerians “operated out of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Church in Meanchey district in 2014 and early 2015.”
The court heard that the pair became friends after meeting at the church.
“At the end of October and early November, I delivered the goods two or three times, and in December I delivered them one more time,” she said, adding that she was paid $100 per day for acting as a courier.

A quite popular Hausa Kannywood actor, has sworn by the Holy Quran, that he is not gay after he had taunted with the rumours of his sexuality.
Adam Zango, recently went on Desmims TV to debunk the claims that he is homosexual. Adam, who played guest on the TV stations talk show, held a Koran and swore that he was not gay and will never be.
He said, while holding the Quran above his head:
“I am here to tell the whole world that I am not gay and I do not participate in any gay activities within and outside the Kannywood industry” he said.
Not only Adam, but many other Hausa actors have been hit with the idea of being gay.
Nigeria U23 team, the Dream Team VI, have, from an unlikely source, been given extra incentive to triumph at this summer’s Olympics in Rio where they’re set to take on Denmark in the quarterfinals.
The Samson Siasia-led lads wont only become national heroes should they repeat the feat of 1996 where the original Dream Team stunned the world to claim gold at the Atlanta games, they’ll also come into sizeable fortune as a benefactor has promised a bonus of $30,000 to each player should they clinch gold in Brazil.
World renowned Japanese plastic surgeon Katsuya Takasu made known his desire to reward the team after hearing about their financial plight, adding a further $20,000 for silver and $10,000 for bronze.
“I read about the financial problems affecting the team and I felt the need to make a big contribution,” Takasu told BBC Sport.
“I am not doing this for media attention but to motivate a team with an indomitable spirit. I fell in love with the Nigerian team because despite all these problems they are in the quarter-finals of the Olympics.
“Whether they win or not, I will still donate something to help alleviate the challenges in paying their bonuses and allowances.”
While the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appreciated the gesture:
“I have been in direct contact with Mr Takasu and impressed by his gesture,” NFF vice-president Seyi Akinwunmi told BBC Sport.
“But we need not get carried away because the integrity of the country is at stake.
“First we must check about this. Significantly, the team has an important game and we need to focus on that.”
It’s been a rough ride to Rio for the Nigerian team, arriving for their opening game barely hours to kickoff, and missing a number of training days over pay disputes.
In spite of the challenges, they remain in the competition and are hours away from a semifinal appearance.

A social media user has shared a quite shocking encounter of how his Neighbor was traced and kidnapped after she updated her work Details on her Facebook Profile.
Read below:
If you handle much cash and you are on Facebook, please never include where you work on your profile.
My neighbour was kidnapped in Port Harcourt by unknown gun men. She was taken to an undisclosed location near Eleme and they demanded 100 million naira before she is released.
My neighbour is the Head of accounts/Treasurer in a particularly big Church here in port Harcourt.
When the kidnappers demanded 100 million naira, the pastor spoke with them and they reduced it to 9 million. As fate may have it, the pastor informed the police who cooked up a plan and asked the Church to drop the money as directed.
The Church and police worked hand in hand and the money was taken to their preferred location before the police arrested 2 of the gang leaders.
Upon investigation, one of them said he knew the girl from Facebook and saw her work details before she was traced and kidnapped.
She has been found and the police is searching for other gang members.
Please mind what you post on social media. Don’t post money, talk about money or your location in public. My neighbour was not killed; but she was seriously beaten.
