Two suspected ritual killers, disguised as mentally challenged person, were yesterday discovered under the Otokutu Bridge in Ughelli South council area of Delta State.
It was gathered a would-be victim blew the lid on the suspects after managing to escape.
The latest incident came 12 years after police recovered decomposing corpses under the same bridge in 2004 from a gang of ritual killers.
The suspects were reportedly handed over to the Jeremi Police Division.
An eyewitness at the scene of the incident said: “Two men looking lunatic attacked a woman who was gathering sharp sand along the road side on the Otokutu end of the bridge.
“They were struggling with her trying to drag her to their hideout under the bridge. The helpless woman started shouting and alerted passers-by.
“Concerned drivers and passengers began to stop to see what the problem was. That was when it occurred to the public that ritual killers have come to the bridge again.
“The crowd was still beating them when police came and took the suspects away.”
Another witness said:
“Unlike in 2004 when the suspects caught were found with human carcasses of victims killed, no body was found under the bridge.
“But the sight of several school bags belonging to pupils, several clothes and women bags convinced the mob that ritual killers are back in Otokutu Bridge.
Here’s a story shared by an old colleague of popular Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian who just celebrated his 45th birthday with much fanfare.
Its a throwback story of how the versatile stand up comic cum actor, rose from nothing in his University to become one of the most famous faces in the Entertainment scene.
Read Below:
I know AY!
AY the consistently creative Comedian.
Lately, AY has been enjoying so much enlargement but before you envy his sweet story, let me tell you the sordid side of his story.
It’s the story of a down period in his Campus days. Even though he was industrious and was into Events and Pageants, things weren’t just happening for him.
It got so bad his Ex – the one he was supposed to marry – visited him on a cold Abraka Night.
The Mission? To break a News! “AY,” she whispered, softly and tenderly, “you know I love you, but you are approaching life at SNAIL SPEED. I can’t go on like this.” Then she hugged AY. Gave him one last peck. Refrained from the hug. Cat-walked into a waiting SUV. And zoooom… she went.
Apparently, some ‘big men’ had brought her to officially disengage with AY.
It was more agonizing because the same ‘big man’ had offered AY N200,000 so he could break up with his her. And AY had rejected the offer, insisting: “my love is not for sale.” Now she’s gone. Just like that.
Tears!
AY wept!
But the show of his bright future must go on. True, he might have been slow. True, he couldn’t approach life faster than he did. And, true, he DID NOT STOP either.
Slowly, he relocated to Lagos but did not stop until he became Alibaba’s PA.
Slowly, he started Open Mic Challenge but did not stop until he discovered great comedy stars.
Slowly, he staged AY Live but did not stop until it became Africa’s Biggest.
Slowly, he rented apartments in Iponri, Aguda, and Ikorodu but he did not stop until he became a Landlord in Lekki.
Slowly, he produced most viewed Comedy Skits on YouTUBE but did not stop until he produced 30 Days In Atlanta – the highest grossing movie in Africa.
It’s not a HYPE. It’s a message!
It does not matter how SLOWLY you go; as long as YOU DO NOT STOP, You will get there.
Smile!

Just for refusing to date a fellow youth corps member, Temitope Adedewe’s whole life ambition seems to have run into a cul-de-sac.
First, she was battered, so much so that she lost two teeth and landed in a hospital; then her NYSC certificate was with-held, the effect of which has caused her to miss an opportunity to sit for a scholarship award examination by her Ife National Descendants Association – something which would have opened the gates for her to go further her studies in her choice university in the United Kingdom.
Temitope also faces the bleak prospect of not being able to apply for her master’s degree in Nigeria or even get a meaningful job worth her qualification.
Adewewe’s nightmare began when in June of 2015; a male corps member of the same batch (Batch A 2015/2016), Oluwabusiyi Adeola Bolarinde started making advances at her.
She had known Bolarinde from their undergraduate days at the History Department of Obafemi Awolowo University, but said she always stayed away from him “because he was the aggressive type.”
“The first time I spoke to him was when we were in camp.” Adewewe said. Both however got posted to the same local government and place of primary assignment, giving Bolarinde the opportunity to start pressing her for a relationship.
“When we got posted to the same school and had to stay in the same lodge, the boy started asking me out. He said he had always liked me even while we were in school but didn’t have the courage to approach me because of my countenance. I told him there and then that I was not interested but he persisted and I in turn insisted.”
Bolarinde’s persistence soon took a nasty turn, when in December that year, he resorted to insulting Adewewe. With every attempt to woo her failing, he suddenly decided to make her life miserable.
“He became very hostile and started insulting me at any given opportunity. Sometimes, I returned the insults and at other times, I just ignored him. This continued until January when things took a worse dimension.
It is one thing to rain insults on someone and a completely different thing to get physically abusive. Adewewe was thus totally unprepared for what soon followed.
“On the 23rd of January at the Corpers’ Lodge of Mary Slessor Technical Secondary School where we both served, Bolarinde suddenly went violent and beat me up. We had just returned from the weekly Community development Service (CDS) three days earlier on the 20th; I wanted to recharge my phone line, but the network told me I had to register my line because my sim had been blocked. Still a stranger in the environment, I asked someone where I could do the registration; the person told me he knew someone who knew the place, not knowing that the person he had in mind was Bolarinde. Of course I refused to go with him, but this person offered to go with us if that would make me feel comfortable. So I agreed and we went.
“There, they said I had to pay N600 for the registration, but I told the officer I didn’t have that amount of money on me. Just then, Bolarinde said to the man, “Do it for her, I’ll pay, she’s my girlfriend.”
I immediately refuted the statement, which made the man to start making jest of him that his girlfriend was denying him. He insisted that I was his girlfriend, to which I said ‘Who is your girlfriend? If it’s a joke, stop it.’ I paid the man N200 and left.
“That was on Thursday. On Saturday, I was sitting in the lodge. By this time, the Batch B corps members had joined us in the house. There were like eight guys. Normally around 5:00 pm, the guys would go out and fetch water. The house was in a very thick bush, so we used to lock our doors early. On this particular evening, we’d already locked the door. I was in the sitting room when I heard a knock on the door, I was scared, I asked who was at the door and the person just responded, “Me.” I insisted the person mentioned his name before I opened the door, which he (Bolarinde) finally did.
“When I opened the door, he complained that he had been standing at the door all day. He then told me that for all the gragra (resistance) I’d been doing, I only had a day left for him to show me ‘pepper.’ I ignored his threat and told him that if he had gone to fetch water like his male colleagues, he wouldn’t be standing there telling me rubbish. This was around 5pm. Around 7pm, he started sending me threat messages. One of them read, “Let this be the first and last time I’ll knock and you won’t open the door.”
“I asked who was sending me messages because I didn’t have his number. He then asked me to check his profile picture. When I checked and saw he was the one, I told him never to send me messages again. He started insulting me and I returned the insults. Later I came out of the room to charge my phone. By this time, people had already returned to the lodge and they were discussing in the sitting area. He came in and started cussing in Yoruba, and it was just the two of us that understood what he was saying. The other guy that understood Yoruba was downstairs. Part of what he said was, “Some people think they are fine; that’s why everybody is asking them out and they’re forming.”
“But I was in no mood to stomach or banter insults, so I left the sitting room and went into my room. The next thing I heard was a kick at the door and Bolarinde came into the room and started beating me with his belt. I screamed and people rushed into the room and pulled him away from me. But before then, blood had already started oozing out of my face and body because it was the iron end of the belt that he used on me. Someone asked me to go and wash off the blood on my face, but as I was going to the bathroom, he came by and told me he wasn’t done with me yet.
“For want of something to say, I said ‘So you dare come to my room to beat me with a belt?’But the next thing I saw was a blow to my mouth. For the second time, he started beating me again. There was a hammer on the floor in his room, in a twinkle, he picked it up with his leg and banged it on my mouth. That’s how I lost my teeth. Everything happened so fast. This was around 11pm. It was already too late for me to go to the hospital. In fact, it was later I noticed the bite on my face. I didn’t and still can’t recall the exact time he bit me.”
Bolarinde’s story
When The Nation called Bolarinde for his side of the story, his initial response was somehow aloof. “The Nation newspaper? Wow! So, you want to publicise my story, right? Well, when I see official notice to that effect, I will respond sha.”
This reporter tried to underscore the importance of him giving his side of the story to make for a balanced report. Bolarinde promised to call back because according to him, he was “somehow busy” at the moment and couldn’t speak.
After waiting for his call to no avail, this reporter placed another call to him, taking more pain to explain why it was in his best interest to give his account of the story, since the other side was going to be published anyway.
Bolarinde however maintained his position, citing the NYSC code of conduct, which he said does not allow corpers to give audience to the press. He said “I am still a corper because my certificate is still being withheld by the NYSC. I’m also aware that some media houses went to the headquarters to confirm issues there… If I deem it fit to express myself, I probably will.”
Almost inadvertently admitting that a fracas indeed took place, Bolarinde said, “The thing is just that something happened, yes. The person involved went to report to the authority. Now that… in short, I have nothing to say for now…. You have tried ma, at least I don’t know you and you don’t know me, and you have called on two occasions.”
Wasn’t Adewewe aware of the ‘code of conduct’?
Adewewe said she had gone to a nearby hospital the following morning since the incident took place the previous night when it was too late to visit any hospital.
On reaching the hospital, she recounted,
“The nurse asked what happened to me. I explained. She asked me three questions: Are you dating him? Are you sleeping with him? Did you collect money from him? I said no and she insisted I go and get a police report before they begin any treatment, saying that this one has gone beyond normal fighting and that the boy may be in a cult, to have beaten me to the point of using a hammer to remove my teeth and giving me a very big bite on my face. That was how I went to the police station at Arochukwu. Besides, this incident happened in our place of primary assignment and not at the NYSC camp in Umuahia.”
At the station, Adewewe said the sergeant who took her statement refused to believe her story, insisting that she had to have been in a serious fight to have sustained such kind of injury.
To confirm her story, he followed her to the lodge and picked up three corpers who witnessed the incident. At the station, three of them gave the same account, which made him arrest and put Bolarinde in a cell until they were able to reach Mr Ikeagu Valentine, the Local Government Inspector or LI.
The sergeant who handled the case, in a phone chat with The Nation said they released the corper to the LI immediately, after he pleaded and promised to resolve the matter amicably as a body and give the police a feedback.
He added that he has been transferred but that he handed the file to another officer as is expected
“Since then, we have not heard anything from them.” He said. “We also learnt that both of them were queried. I really don’t know much about the case again, because we were expecting them to get back to us.
The announcement of the death of Mayowa Shukurat Ahmed from complications of stage 4 ovarian cancer earlier today (Sunday, August 21) in South Africa ended the fairy tale that followed the public spirited fund raising campaign applauded by the good people of Nigeria.
With over N85 million raised, her death dampened the spirits of legions as they had hoped and prayed that she would return from her medical trip abroad alive and well.
But before she travelled abroad on August 10, she was a very frail woman who had been left to her fate. At a point, she was not receiving treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
She was at home in Ebute Meta, practically without the round the clock medical care and attention required. She was later moved back to LUTH, so that she could be stabilized before her trip.
Though the fund raiser lifted her spirit, tales of a scam was a troubling episode that affected her in no small way. And all the energy and mental preparations needed for recovery was soon drained. And a lot of time was wasted as the police in Lagos investigated the scam allegation.
By the time the investigation was concluded and access to the money raised allowed, many variables had changed.
From the initial plan to treat her in the United States of America to the Middle East and later South Africa, the delay took a toll on her health and spirit.
What’s more, cancer is a devastating ailment. And survival rate of stage 4 ovarian cancer is actually between 5 and 17 percent five years after treatment.
For stage 4 ovarian cancer, the cancer had spread beyond her ovary, affecting many other organs.
Pandemonium broke out on the 26th of June 2016, during the wedding of Nkechi Ofor and her husband Emeka Ofor at the premises of the Umuahia North Local Government Headquarters, Abia State.
A minor disagreement between families and friends of the couple ensued when the bride alleged that her village people were not been served enough foods and drinks despite the fact that she contributed the lion share of the wedding expenses.
As the man in charge of drinks was trying to give explanations and at the same time urging the raging bride to keep it cool, it led to a hot argument between them and Nkechi the bride, fully dressed in her wedding atire, picked up bottles and started throwing them at the man.
The noisy scenario attracted the groom, Emeka, who stormed out of the reception to calm his wife but Nkechi, the groom was reported to have threatened to stab her newly wedded husband and stab herself if she is not allowed to have her way.
The groom’s family allegedly stormed the scene angrily throwing bottles and chairs leading to a free for all fight between the two families.
It was during the melee, that one Chisom Ofor, said to be a younger brother of the groom mistook a guest, Chinwendu Ibiam, for a junior brother of the bride and allegedly stabbed him at the back of the neck. The victim was reported to have fainted immediately.
Stabbed guest at the Emeka and Nkechi Ofor’s weddingStabbed guest at the wedding
According to Uche Ibiam, an elder brother of the victim, “he and his junior brother were invited for the wedding by the bride because the bride is their neighbour at their shop.
He narrated that he “was inside the hall when he started hearing someone shouting stab him, stab him” and that as he made his way to see what was happening, he claimed to have seen Chisom, the groom’s younger brother, stabbing his own brother on the neck and in the process, the victim fainted. Chisom and the rest of the people, alleged, ran away from the scene.
Uche said he quickly rushed his bloodied brother to a the police hospital on Bende Road, Umuahia and the matter was reported at the Central Police Station Umuahia. Nkechi, the bride was invited by the police to rendered an account of what led to the chaos that engulfed her wedding reception, but she refused to show up.
Three days later, Nkechi was said to have made a sudden appearance at the hospital where the victim was undergoing treatment and she allegedly promised to pay for the victims medical expenses. Since then, she never showed up or fulfill her pledge to take responsibilities for the hospital bills.
The neglect and nonchalant attitude of the couple to the plight of the victim prompted a legal practitioner, Barr. Anthony Onyenowu of Victory Chambers, Umuahia, to send a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, and thereafter the matter was transferred to the State CID Umuahia, for proper investigation.
Men of the state police command, on 3rd August 2016, were at Ajata Ibeku, the hometown of Ofor’s to effect the arrest of Chisom, who allegedly stabbed Chinwendu. Chisom was said to have stripped himself naked and almost escaped before the police caught up with him.
In the process, youths in the village, wielding cutlasses and other dangerous weapons allegedly waylaid the police team and rescued Chisom after inflicting injuries on the policemen. Since then, Chisom Offor walks a freeman boasting of his invincibility even from law enforcement agents.
Efforts to get the bride, Mrs. Nkechi Ofor’s side of the story was impossible as her phone number 07064979345 remained switched off for days.
Nigerians have been paying their last respects to Mayowa Shukurat Ahmed, a young lady who was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian cancer a few months back.
This is sequel to the announcement of Mayowa’s death by a family member via a series of tweets on Sunday, August 21, 2016.
By Allah, in who's hands our lives is, Mayowa Ahmed has left us in this world. We pray that Jannat becomes her home #RipMayowa
The Police in Enugu State have smashed an alleged notorious syndicate, which specializes in helping self acclaimed men of God to fake prophecies in Churches across the country.
The suspects were nabbed at the Enugu Market Road, popularly known as Holy Ghost Park and the P&T axis of the state by the operatives of the central police station of the Enugu State police command.
The spokesman of the Police in the State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, SP, who confirmed this in a statement made available to Daily Post, gave names of the suspects as Obi Ejike from Ubaho Okija in Ihiala local Government Area of Anambra State, Kuku Mary from Ijebuode, Ogun State, Oluwakemi Joy from Ojo Lagos State, Nwosu Chizoba from Umunze in Anambra state and Peter Uchechi from Ebonyi state.
He disclosed that the suspects were nabbed while heading for Churches and ministries in Enugu and Ebonyi to stage make-belief prophecies.
The statement issued by Amaraizu showed one of the suspects, Peter Uchechi confessing that:
“they were recruited in large numbers and kept in a house at Onitsha Anambra state; from there, they shuttle to various states of the country to confirm a prophecy for the purpose of winning more souls for the said church or ministry. They are usually paid through their coordinator who rented a house and kept them there.
“According to her, they can be detailed to go to any state, but the number of the link man in the said church/ministry is usually provided to them for easy connection on arrival and that they usually dialogued with the link man to the pastor of the church/ministry on the shape the job will take.
“She went ahead to reveal that they usually state their names, nature of problem they have and other necessary information which is given to the pastor of the church/ministry for his guidance and that during the prophetic hours, she will be among the people with the said problem that will come out.
“The pastor, then using the said information, will prophecy and she will confirmt that before the congregatio; she will be touched and she will fall and the pastor will then proclaim that the problem is all over; that way, members of the congregation will believe that the pastor is a powerful man of God and this will attract more members to the church.”
The statement further quoted Uchechi as confessing that:
“some Pastors use us to grow their church/ministry and we are paid later through our coordinator depending on our role.”
On his part, Obi Ejike confessed that he “works hand in hand with the coordinator and that he is the link person for the Abakiliki and Enugu team.”
“He confessed that he joined the lucrative prophecy job after he lost his business to the activities of fraudsters in Lagos and then decided to relocate to Onitsha where he joined the prophesy deal and recruitment of candidates.
“Nwosu Chizoba from Umunze equally corroborated all the stories as told by Uchechi Peter and Obi Ejike. The single mother joined the business which she initially started at Abuja before moving to Onitsha.
“Oluwakemi Joy and Kuku Mary are mothers of four children each, but their husbands are no more with them; hence they had to join the lucrative business through their friend who linked them to the coordinator”, the statement added.
It all began when Mrs Devi went to stay with her daughter and her son-in-law in Bahir, she took on the role of caregiver when Mahto fell ill and the two hit it off from there.
When she returned to her house, they still kept in touch, he would call her and they would talk for hours on the phone, he also visited her at her home.
Lalita got to know of the affair and told her mother to stay away but she was too besotted with her son-in-law and refused. Even her husband could make her see reason.
Eventually, despite the objections of villagers, the couple eloped and married on June 1 this year. The union has proved to be a very brief one, two months after tying the knot, the unusual couple are back and pleading for forgiveness.
According to Gulf news Mr Mahto reportedly said:
‘I have come to realise my folly now. I admit I have committed the mistake but will never repeat in future. Now, I no longer treat her as my wife. Rather, I have started paying her regard as a mother.’
He said he would go on bended knee and beg Lalita to have him back. The couple have a son together.
Mrs Devi said of Mr Mahto:
‘No longer do I treat him as my husband but as a son-in-law. We have already a filed divorce petition in the court and I want to return to my husband as soon as possible.’
A bishop was sued by his wife after she caught him sleeping with his niece.
According to reports, a Kenyan preacher identified as Bishop Jonathan Musyoki Muthoka, was accused by his wife of having a sexual relationship with his niece.
The woman Irene Kavata, had secretly installed a CCTV camera in their bedroom and sitting room, which captured the pair while they were ‘enjoying themselves’.
According to Irene, her husband who works as a sales manager in a telecommunications firm and is also the presiding bishop of Jesus Liberation Ministry International, had been carrying on a secret affair with the girl whom she brought in to live with them as a house help.
She said she had to separate from her husband for a month as a result of his infidelity, and that she has also moved the case to court, in a bid to ensure that he pays for the upkeep of his children.
In a sworn affidavit, Irene revealed how she has endured her husband’s cheating for over the eight years they were married, starting right from their honeymoon.
Narrating her story, here’s what Irene told the Nairobian newspaper below:
“Though my husband’s behaviour with the women was not new to me, I sensed something was totally wrong when he brought in the girl and told me she was his niece (his cousin’s daughter) after our maid left. Theirs was more than that of blood relatives judging by how they held each other.” Irene said the househelp also got pregnant at one time, only to terminate the pregnancy later. She said she hoped her husband would change: “I thought he will change after that, but he defended her every move. My suspicion was raised as I noticed they were getting closer. Whenever I left them alone in the sitting room, I would hear funny moans that forced me to start peeping and watch them having sex on the couch.”
Irene’s interest had been raised to the fullest after a plumber who often visited the house for repairs, told her that the relationship between her husband and his niece was not a normal ‘blood’ relationship. This made her take her decision. Read what she said below:
“It is then that I decided to seek help from a CCTV technician who assisted me to fix the cameras. But when I confronted him with the evidence, he became furious and assaulted me.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has arrested one Chike Nnaemeka, for allegedly tricking an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps into marrying him and paying for the wedding.
Nnaemeka, aka Dr. Justified, was said to have duped his victim, Nkechi Ani, of N6.7m.
The EFCC, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist, allegedly collected the sum under different requests. The victim was reportedly introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.
The suspect was also said to have tricked Ani into marrying him and they were joined in a traditional wedding on June 6, 2015, without informing her that he was married with three children.
In her petition, the complainant said,
‘‘During the wedding preparation, Justified brought up so many stories bordering on cultural issues that I or anyone from my family is not supposed to visit his home town until after my marriage. He also said that the tradition of his place as a lone prince demanded that I sponsored every financial aspect of the traditional marriage, but that he would refund me to the last one naira I spent.”
According to the commission, the suspect continued to deceive his victim and even claimed to have property that both Zenith Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc were purportedly interested in buying.
The suspect was said to have shown the complainant some documents of the property, and requested her to raise some money to enable him to complete the process.
The complainant allegedly transferred some amounts to the suspect, after being assured that he would refund her.
But on December 23, 2015, the suspect allegedly left the house on the pretext that he was going to sign the agreement papers with the banks to finalise the transaction. Ani also alleged that the suspect stole the sum of $3000 belonging to her boss.
“Meanwhile, investigation has revealed that the suspect, who is married to another woman who had three children for him, also lied that his mother passed on some years back. The suspect will soon be charged to court, after investigation is concluded,” the statement added.
Reports making rounds on the internet suggests that Wizkid just turned down a major mouth-watering offer to perform outside Nigeria.
He was reportedly offered £50,000 (N25m) for an international show, which he rejected; saying his brand is not that cheap.
Nigeria’s economy is in recession, so it’s understandable if artistes reject Naira payments – because it has little or no value when converted to foreign currency.
It is rumored that Wizkid has been charging £100,000 for shows outside Nigeria for several months now – due to his rising profile on the international music scene.
The £50,000 deal he rejected was said to have been brokered by his international management team “Disturbing London” – which is co-owned by British/Nigerian rapper, Tinie Tempah.
#SaveMayowa was a cause that brought Nigerians together and subsequently, rather unfortunately divided them following reports of a ‘ruse’ that claimed the campaign was a scam. The matter was later investigated and was proven otherwise.
However, It’s so sad to report this beautiful afternoon, that Mayowa Ahmed, the cancer patient Good willing Nigerians contributed to keep alive has passed on. She died this afternoon, August 21st in a hospital in South Africa after battling Ovarian cancer for a while.
She was flown to South Africa on August 11th for treatment after kind-hearted Nigerians raised over N100million for her treatment. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it.
Nollywood actress Amanda Ebeye, has denied being pregnant and says the report about her by an online platform that she is pregnant and hiding in Ghana is false.
She spoke to Potpourri via Blackberry Messenger where she denied the news and said contrary to the report that she is in Ghana, she is actually in Canada.
“I don’t have anything to do with any Bello Bina” she said. “And I would never have anything to do with him. People should stop roping me with him. I am not hiding out in Ghana. I am in Canada, which is like my second home as I am also a citizen of Canada. I’m studying. I am not under any pressure to get married and I’m not ready to get married. When I am, everyone would be invited,” she said.
A 32-year-old woman named Chidinma Favour Okorie, a mother of five, who is pregnant has been arrested by the police for stealing two three-year-old children in Anambra State.
The suspect is alleged to have committed the felonious act in Idoma village, Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State. Okorie is a native of Amasiri, Afikpo, Ebonyi State, where she lived with her husband until she fell into the cold embrace of the police, where she was caught in the act following an alarmed raised by the mother of another she attempted to steal.
The news was disclosed to Sunday Sun by the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula, who also said the suspect was part of a syndicate and had allegedly stolen several babies in the State until nemesis caught up with her during her last fateful trip.
Explaining Okorie’s modus operandi, Okaula said that she regularly came from Ebonyi State to perpetrate her act and then sell the stolen child for N50,000 to a child-trafficking syndicate that works with hospitals in Onitsha.
However, when her cup of iniquity filled up and spilled, Okorie was arrested on August 2 at Idoma village in Umuoji community, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State by police detectives as she was perfecting plans to escape from the town with a three-year-old boy earlier stolen from a compound in the village.
Okorie’s cookie crumbled when the mother of a boy she stole, Nneka Victor, raised the alarm and reported the theft to policemen at Osidi Police Station, who promptly dispatched a team to arrest the suspect, who had two boys with her, both aged three years.
Recounting how she perpetrated the act, Okorie said: “Usually I come from Ebonyi State to Anambra State to steal children and sell each one for N50,000 to a syndicate at a hospital (name withheld) in Onitsha. On this particular ocsasion, I went to Idoma village in Umuoji community.
I met a woman who was with her little child, and pretended that I was looking for somebody. The mother of the boy told her son to take me to the place and from there I took him away.
I did the same thing in another street, where I wanted to take another three-year old before the mother of the victim alerted the community and the police and the two stolen boys were rescued.”
Confirming Okorie’s account, one of the jubilant mothers said: “The suspect came to my compound and asked for somebody. As I knew the person she was asking about, I told my three-year son, Victor, to take her to the place. When he did not immediately return I rushed out to look for him. I didn’t know that she did the same to another woman and took her three-year-old son. It was when she wanted to escape with the two boys that we alerted the community and policeman at Osidi Police Station.”
During interrogation by the police, she mentioned the name of a certain doctor who runs a hospital in Asaba, Delta State, who she claimed administered a deadly oath on her never to disclose the truth when arrested.
“I am married and have five children. We live at Amasiri, Afikpo Ebonyi State. I am a trader but it was greed that made me go into child trafficking. I started on July 15, 2016, when I sold the son of a pastor (name withheld) to the staff of a hospital that is part of the syndicate. The doctor that owns the hospital paid me N50,000. Immediately I got my money I went back to Ebonyi State, she said.
The police also arrested the doctor who she claimed bought the stolen boy from her, but he denied the allegation saying: “I didn’t know the woman. I didn’t know that she was dealing with one of my staff with regard to child trafficking. I only saw her once when she came for blood sample. I didn’t have any deal with her. I was surprised to see policemen who came and arrested me over child trafficking.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Supol Nkeiruka Nwode advised parents to be more vigilant and monitor their children, adding that they should avoid sending them on errands that are not very necessary. “The suspect could have escaped with the two little boys if their mothers had not alerted the community and the police.
Former Super Eagles winger, Pius Ikedia, has been admitted into hospital in Amsterdam, Holland, after he collapsed during a friendly match involving former Ajax stars on Saturday.

The exhibition match was to mark the 50th anniversary of the Haarlo Sports club and the former Ajax stars were leading 7-2 before the incident.

“We only thank God that with proper care, we were not celebrating the death of another Nigeria football star on the pitch.”

The pregnant wife of the man who named his dog Buhari has cried out for the unjustly treatment of her husband.
The man identified as Mr. Joachim Chinakwe, 41 was arrested and detained at the Sango Ota Police Station, Ogun State, on August 13, 2016, for naming his dog Buhari. He was later released after public protest, only to be rearrested again.
The sudden travial has left his pregnant wife, Ifeoma and 18-mont-old daughter Temi highly devastated.
While lamenting her sorrow to Punch, she said:
“This is the saddest period of my life,” the heartbroken woman said fighting back tears. “Since I met and married my husband three years ago, I have never felt this bad or suffered this much. But since this problem started, I and my daughter have been badly affected,” she continued.
“When I went to the police station last Sunday morning to see him, the officers instead of allowing me in, started abusing me. They told me that they would make sure I give birth behind my husband’s cell. Even though I was crying and pleading with them to allow me see him, they kept abusing me, not minding my present condition.
“Since that day, I have not been able to eat well. Also, I and Temi have been very sick and we have been on medications. On several occasions she would wake me up at night, crying and asking after her father. I don’t know what to tell her, so I would also cry.
“The two of us cannot sleep in the house alone, so in the evenings, I go to my aunty’s house at Ojuore to stay till morning before returning home. I am just praying that all the stress that I have been through and tears that I have shed the past few days don’t affect the baby or even make me to lose the child because already, I am not as healthy as I was before this problem started. I won’t lie to you; life has not been the same for me and my daughter without him around,” the heavily-pregnant mother said before finally succumbing to her emotions.” She cried.
Mr. Joachim Chinakwe
She cried and wailed in a sorrow-laden voice pouring out her heart of the shocking predicament that has befallen her family.
Speaking about the matter, a relative, Obinna Obasi said the case apart from taking its toll on their energies and time, had also drained their pockets.
He said relatives and friends of Chinakwe have even had to borrow money from a micro finance bank to hire lawyers to fight his case – one of whom he said even duped them in the process.
“This matter has really drained us financially,” Obasi revealed. “The little that we even have has been exhausted. We have spent everything on us to get a lawyer and also run around trying to find a solution to this problem. In fact, a few days ago, we had to borrow some money from a micro finance bank because we didn’t want him to remain and die in police cell. The first lawyer we paid to handle the case for us disappeared with our money. We had to go beyond our power to raise money to hire another lawyer. To be honest, I cannot estimate the amount of money we have spent so far on this case in trying to get Joe released,” he said.
Narrating how the entire issue started, Obasi, who said he was with the detained man at the time of his first arrest last Saturday, explained that all efforts to get the matter resolved has been frustrated by the accuser and his backers who have only been pretending to be on the side of peace.
“Kalilu, the main accuser, said Buhari was the name of his father and that Joe deliberately gave his dog that name to taunt him and the rest of the Hausa residents in the area. But we are still wondering if it is now an offence to give your pet animal the name of your choice. Even if you say it is an offence, at least we have all sat together to resolve the whole issue and the man himself has shown some sense of responsibility by saying he was sorry if his action offended anybody. So, why is he still being harassed till now? This is not fair. His persecution is affecting his pregnant wife and little daughter who have both been very sick as a result of the problem,” he said.
The policemen at Sango Police Station have refused to allow anybody near the man, not even his family members as they locked him away.
Acting spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, revealed on Friday that the accused would be arraigned at the Sango Magistrate Court on Monday.
“The man is here with us at Eleweran, he is being detained at the Criminal Investigation Department. The charge will be prepared and he will be arraigned at Sango Magistrate Court on Monday. What he did was highly provocative, it can cause ethnic and religious crisis,” he said.
Baring his mind on the predicament of the man, a human rights lawyer and former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch, Lagos, Monday Ubani revealed that there is no such law in Nigeria’s criminal code which states that it is an offence to give your pets a name of your choice.
According to him, the police cannot arrest and detain a person except they are able to prove that the individual’s action is indeed capable of causing breach of public peace.
He however, wonders why the accused would name a dog after his neighbour’s father as alleged because according to him it could be a bit offensive even though it was not a crime.
Oyo state police command have arrested 43 year old Yisua Adeleke(left) for bathing his lover, Mrs Morufa Ajoke Odesanya (right) with acid after he found out she was married and not a widow as she claimed previously.
According to Tribune, on November 25th, Yisua invited Morufa who is 36 years old with five children, to their love nest and then poured the corrosive substance on her.
He went into hiding for months until he was arrested on August 7th this year. Narrating how it happened, Yisua said;
“I was arrested because I poured acid on a lady I regarded as my fiancée until I discovered otherwise. I had a wife, Ronke, who had two children for me but I later discovered that she had two children for two men before she married me. She also decided that she had had the number of children that she wanted, asking me to look for another woman if I needed more. She went for family planning. I started dating Morufa and she asked me to rent a room, which I did at Idi Arere, Ibadan. She told me she was a widow with two children. She used to bring the two children to Idi Arere. She also took me to where she was living at Elebu area of Ibadan, saying that the house belonged to her aunt. She showed me a man who she claimed to be her brother, but whom I later discovered to be her husband. She took me to her mother and I took her to my aunt who was like my mother to introduce her as my wife-to-be. Morufa used to come and stay with me at the rented apartment and I had to tell my wife that she could leave because I had already got a wife. We used to have sex regularly to the level that even during her menstrual period, she would beg me to have sex with her, saying she could not keep off me. This continued until the day I came in contact with Magun (a charm usually placed diabolically on wayward women as a punishment for their lovers) in the course of our affair. It was as if my navel was twisted and I also had a tongue twist. I started feeling dizzy. This made me to raise the alarm and Morufa also started crying. An Islamic cleric came to my rescue by making some incantations. Though I became a bit relieved, the stomach ache continued and the next thing Morufa said was that she believed that the Magun was the handiwork of her mother-in-law. I asked whether she went to her mother-in-law and for the reason she would want to harm her daughter-in-law’s fiancé since her son was dead. To my surprise, Morufa called me same day and asked about my condition. She then added that she had sex with one Baba Bidemi, and it proved that what I experienced was not Magun. Baba Bidemi was the man she called her brother. I was confused and this made me to decide that I was no longer interested in the relationship if she could deceive me for about two years that we were together. She started begging me”.
According to Yisua, it was at this junction that Morafa confessed that the man she had always claimed to be her brother was her husband
“I probed her further and she confessed that the man was her husband and that she had five children, though she initially told me that three children she did not declare as her own were born by the wife of her ‘brother’ before they divorced. I stopped going to her husband’s house but we were still meeting because I wanted to collect the money I contributed as a member of a group we formed for the purpose of contributing money that we could collect in bulk. I got number six and number 20. She collected the first one and when I was to collect the second one after the discovery of her lies, she told me that she gave it to her brother (husband) to pay FRSC fine. But to my surprise, when I saw the brother (husband), he was riding a brand new motorcycle. This infuriated me so much because I felt used. She continued to plead with me to forgive her, saying that I was the salt of her life. But I was so hurt by her deception and the devil pushed me to an evil act. So I conceived the plan to pour acid on her. On November 25, 2015, she asked me to come and collect my money, and I took the acid jar along with me. We stood at a point not too far from her residence and in the course of our discussion I brought out the jar, opened it and poured the content on her. She screamed and ran off, while a bit of the liquid splashed on me. I also ran away to my village at Omi Adio to hide until a week ago when I learnt that she reported me at a radio station. I was at the radio station to state my own side when police came to arrest me.”
Yisua says he regrets his action. Morafa is currently writhing in pain and requires N3 million for corrective surgery. Her real husband is said to have forgiven her and takes care of their children. Meanwhile Yisua is presently in prison and will be re-arraigned in court on November 9th.

Daily Mail reports that Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt is planning to tie the knot with girlfriend Kasi Bennet after the Olympics.
The great news was revealed by Bolt’s older sister Christine Bolt-Hylton during an interview with The Sun. “There’s a very strong possibility they’ll get engaged when he comes home” she said.
This doesn’t come much as a surprise because Usain’s mum recently told CNN that she wants her son to settle down and get married after he has achieved his dreams at the Rio Olympics.
Usain and Kasi, who have been dating for more than two years, made their relationship public yesterday. However, Bolt stated that maintaining a low-key relationship is a priority for him. “I want to keep it small for now, because I know when it gets out, there’s going to be a lot of things to say, and I told her she can’t handle it” he said.
Bolt was previously in a private relationship with fellow Jamaican runner Mizicann Evans after he rose to international fame.
Nollywood actress, curvaceous Anita Joseph one time found herself stranded and koboless at one of the Nigerian airports not too long ago – no thanks to the ATM and its many hiccups.
She narrated the experience in an interview with Vanguard. Looking uncomfortable, like she was reliving the moment all over again, Anita said:
“I never believed I would have to ever beg for money in my entire life but it happened to me this unforgettable and embarrassing day at the airport”.
“Jesus, I was so embarrassed. I was at the airport and needed to use the ATM, because I didn’t have a dime on me. But for some reason the ATM didn’t work and I couldn’t withdraw any money. This is after I had eaten at a restaurant at the airport and needed to pay. I looked around to see if I could spot anyone I know, until my instinct told me I had no choice but to beg. The mere thought of it made me cringe with horror.
Me, Nita, to beg? It was inconceivable and unimaginable but it was the only reality staring me in the face or I had to face bigger embarrassment from the restaurateurs,” she recalled coyly.
According to her, holding her breath, she approached a guy and to her utter amazement the response she got left her even more breathless.
“You mean you are an actress and you don’t have any money on you and you depend on ATM. Na Wa for una” the guy barked at her. “I was almost in tears and my flight was already boarding. I approached another guy and told him the same story and what he said was another shock to my soul. He asked me who I am and said ‘ are you doing this? I told him I am a Nigerian actress but he replied that he doesn’t watch Nigerian films.
To my surprise he gave me the money and behold one of my movies was showing at the lounge, she recounted bitterly.
Neymar ended a 52-year painful wait to bring Olympic gold medal glory to Brazil at the Maracanã Stadium.
The super star of the Brazilian Olympic and national team scored the decisive spot kick and the first goal in the scintillating 1-1 draw with Germany.
It was also sweet revenge for the hosts following Germany’s 7-1 World Cup semifinal hammering two years ago that cost Brazilian football its pride.
“This is one of the best things that has happened in my life,” said Neymar, before surprisingly stepping down as captain of the national side.
“It was an honour to be captain, but from today I am no longer captain,” he told SporTV.
The Barcelona superstar opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick in front of the biggest crowd of Rio’s Games, and in honour of retiring spring king Usain Bolt, he adopted the “lightning bolt” celebration, to jubilant chants of “ole, ole, ole, Neymar”.
But Germany captain Max Meyer levelled 13 minutes after the break and celebrated by taunting the raucous crowd at the Maracana by kissing the No 7 on his shirt.
After the first eight penalties in the shootout were all successful, Nils Petersen saw his spot kick saved by Weverton leaving Neymar to sweep home to throw the country into raptures.
Brazil went home with Gold, Germany Silver and Nigeria Bronze.
In a shocking twist of events, the mothers of the two teenagers flogged by Ghanaian Bishop Daniel Obinim have come forward to defend the controversial pastor’s actions.
In an exclusive interview with Joy News, the mother of the young girl stated that she is ready to invoke curses on the people demanding for Obinim’s arrest.
The boy’s mother, on the other hand, revealed that had supported Obinim’s decision to flog her son in front of his congregation from the get-go. She also added that she was very excited to watch ‘Angel Obinim’ discipline her son.
“When my husband died and we needed help, no Ghanaian intervened, not even my family. Angel Obinim took me in and enrolled my son in school so they should leave the ‘angel’ alone” the boy’s mother stated.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mother had this to say:
“Papa should have beaten her more. Imagine what would have happened if the prophecy had not come and she drunk the medicine to abort the baby,” she added.
Obinim has since defended his actions and remained unrepentant. Yesterday, Human Rights Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu and two others filed suits against him seeking to have the bishop arrested and prosecuted for his conduct.
