A young Nigerian has just shown that there are still some good people left as he puts a smile on the face of an own female beggar.
One does not just turn into a beggar if he or she is not in need of help and for the older destitute on the street, they need relief as much as they need air.
Ichie Agbalanze has shown himself worthy of empathy as he shared a heartwarming story on Facebook of his encounter with an old homeless woman.
According to him, he had to miss an important appointment just to spend time with an old woman he met by the roadside and also give her reasons to smile.
Ichie shared this on his page:
“A MOMENT WITH A HOMELESS OLD WOMAN! We can’t lose hope in humanity! Never! Just a little more care can heal the world! I was on my way to catch up an appointment this afternoon when I saw this homeless mother by the market roadside begging alms.
“I noticed how everybody ignored her pleas for alms and I hid behind a tree to record this video, Brothers and Sisters ignored her like she’s a log of wood lying beside the road, no one gave her even a smile to pacify her soul. Pain and agony was written all over her as she continued regardless. I went down to the market and bought few stuffs and I came back to meet her.
“I handed the stuffs over to her and I could read the excitement and cheers in her face as she kept saying things in her language which I don’t understand. She opened what I bought for her and offered me some of it to eat with her, I ate with her as we took selfies and she laughed so hard whenever I showed her a picture of herself, I decided to sit back with her and beg for alms.
“We started begging for alms together and she was all smiles. People couldn’t understand what was happening as I walked towards them and ask them to drop a penny for the old lady. It was crazy, it was fun and almost everyone I walked up to dropped something in her plate.
“I spent almost an hour with her and I missed my appointment . . . But the Joy I gave and the Joy I received was way more important. I counted the money we made and it was N1,200 (One Thousand Two Hundred Naira) I handed it over to her and bade her goodbye as she was left with all smiles and thanks.
“It was a moment to behold . . . that’s why am sharing this one with you. Just a little more love can heal the world. Moral of the story: Am I not mad?”
Apparently, the Okoye brothers saga is still on and active – Peter Okoye of the popular duo group, few minutes ago, went on to his IG page to call out his elder brother, Jude “engees” Okoye, for booking a show with the band’s name.
Below is what he wrote few minutes ago:
“DISCLAIMER This goes out to all my Fans in Congo Specifically and the entire world in General. My attention has been drawn to a much publicised show holding today 8th July, 2016(VIP SHOW) and tomorrow 9th July, 2016,(in Goma) and on the 17th of August in Kinshasa wherein the name Psquare was used maliciously and mischievously to garner patronage and huge fans attendance as against the stage name Rudeboy which is used when my Twin Brother, Paul, and Co-owner of the stage name Psquare performs alone.
I never endorsed the usage of my name as the contractual terms presented were not favourable to me, thus I am not part of the show booked by our former manager Jude and I wholeheartedly disassociate myself from the unauthorized use of my Co-owned stage name (Psquare) and images for promotional and economic reasons without my express written consent or permission. Contrary to the wild allegations making the rounds that I could not attend the show because I am sick and missed my flight along with my crew members, I wish to counter same and state categorically, that I am 101% healthy. I shall take appropriate legal actions in the nearest future against the character assassination and malicious misrepresentation. Thank you. MR.P (Peter of Psquare)”

Mr Sunday Awoji, the National President of Filmmakers Welfare Organisation of Nigeria (FWON), says ailing Nollywood actor, Prince James Uche needs N11 million to undergo kidney transplant abroad.
He stated this on Friday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
“Prince James Uche has been very sick and incapacitated for some years now, and it has become obvious that he cannot provide the required funds to have the necessary medical attention.
“He is currently hospitalised in Lagos due to kidney related ailment, and urgently needed to be taken to Indian for a transplant that will gulp N11 million,”Awoji explained.
He added that another Nollywood actor, Romanus Amunta, popularly known as Natty, was also critically down with paralysis in Enugu State.
According to Awoji, it is in its effort to intervene that FWON recently inaugurated its “Save a Soul” intervention campaign geared towards raising funds for the medical care of the ailing actors.
“As an NGO within Nollywood that seeks to ensure the wellbeing of filmmakers, especially on health related issues, FWON has decided to intervene.
“We decided to cry out to Nigerians of goodwill, and everyone who loves Nollywood to give towards saving these precious souls.”
He explained that movie producers, actors, fans, other Nigerians of goodwill had donated towards the intervention funds, but the required amount was yet to be realised.
“So far, we have only got less than a million naira, and we had to quickly send delegates to Lagos and Enugu to take care of their immediate medical needs.
“We are still hoping and calling on everyone to contribute towards this rescue mission,” he pleaded.
According to him, FWON is planning other options possible, including visiting corporate bodies, Area councils and Humanitarian organisations to expediently raise the required funds.
“Only Nollywood cannot do it; we therefore need the help of everyone as quickly as possible to save our brothers.”
NAN reports that the veteran Nollywood actor Uche was a former Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
He is still struggling with the illness that has kept him off the screen for over eight years now.
Flavour on Thursday, July 7, donated food items to some widows in Enugu. The singer, who is currently on set in the Coal city, wrote:
“Charity begins at home. I had the honour and pleasure of visiting and spending some quality time with a strong force of women, here today in Enugu. Wizkid is in the news yet again after he fueled rumours that he is dating his manager, Jada based on a photo he shared on his Instagram yesterday, July 7th.
In the photo Jada can be seen embracing Wizkid and curling up to him. She also has her hand around him. Wizkid captioned the photo “@__jada.p forever my G!!.”
If that didn’t send tongues wagging, the caption of the second photo surely did. In a photo of Jada, American singer Justine Skye and an unidentified lady Wizkid wrote “close to my heart!”
Now Wizkid could also be referring to Justin Skye as being close to his heart. Recently, there has been a few sparks flying between the two. Justin Skye who is an admirer of Wizkid tweeted “he became the sun I became the moon” on June 26, 2016. Hours later Wizkid tweeted “I’m attracted to your soul.”
Feeling remorseful after the road mishaps at Umuahia, Abia and Bayelsa states in the last one month, which claimed the lives of 24 passengers and two drivers, Chairman of the Peace Mass Transit (PMT) Limited, Dr Sam Onyishi, has begun “defensive driving” training for his drivers.
Onyishi, who addressed a press conference at the Emene, Enugu headquarters of the bus company yesterday, said training in defensive driving for the drivers became inevitable.
He also said he felt pains any time his vehicle was involved in a crash. Hence, his resolve to arm his
“drivers on the knowledge to drive with other road users in order to avoid crashes that could come from the carelessness of other drivers. I am in a mourning mood and that is why people say I have not said anything. It will be wrong for me to go on radio or the pages of newspapers to start talking when I am mourning,” he said just as he condoled with families of those who lost loved ones in the crashes.
Onyishi who said he has over 4,000 buses plying across 26 states of the federation disclosed that all his buses have factory-fitted speed limiters.
Even as the FRSC come to retrain his drivers in every quarter of the year. The South-East Zonal Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Samuel Obayemi corroborated Onyishi’s claim that his buses are fitted with speed limiters, which the corps commissioned since 2009.
Obayemi also said that officers of the FRSC have been coming to retrain the drivers of PMT, saying that if the company was contravening safety standards, the corps would not have been collaborating with it.
He urged the drivers of the PMT to be more vigilant as they ply the road and put into good use what they would be taught in defensive driving.
No one who is conversant with Nigerian Social media, will say he’s not aware of the drama that has been going on with singer, Brymo – from the response he gave to a fan who needed his help for her education, to his recent comment about “black men like to suffer”.

During this brawl he had with his fans, a tweep advised the singer to caution his tweets as it could bring a dark cloud over his career.
The tweep sent in the tweet:
You have really been tweeting recklessly these days. Don’t tear your ‘almost done’ career with yo miserable bare hands. Diot,’
Brymo replied saying:
My Career Ended In 2013, arindin!!
It should be recalled that the singer released an album, “Klitoris”, earlier this year – an album whose cover art caused a serious stir at that time.
So we really are not sure what the singer is trying to say here though.

“Since I was not looking sick I thought there was nothing wrong so I went back to living my life until I got very sick in August and I came to the decision that HIV is real and its for you to move on for my family and daughter. It’s for me to accept it and live positively. I then joined a youth support group and I noticed that I wasn’t the only one living with HIV as there were also some young people living with it,” she wrote.

“I had to take a picture because to many, all they see is a man lying on the floor. To me I saw a man who worked all night, who could have went home to go to sleep (I wouldn’t have minded knowing he worked all night), who could have asked me to get up so he could lay down. All this shows the amazing husband and father he is!!!”

Palmer told ABC News that her son has recovered, and the whole family is now out of the hospital and back at home.
John Mahama, President of Ghana, blamed irregular power cuts in his country on Nigeria during an Eid-el-fitr speech. He says this is due to the delays in the delivery of crude oil from Nigeria to power thermal plants in Ghana – because of the activities of Niger Delta Avengers, who have been blowing up oil and gas pipelines in the Niger Delta.
The Niger Delta Avengers, yesterday, reportedly blew up three Chevron manifolds at Diogbolo, near Dibi, Warri Local Government Area of Delta State, using controlled explosive devices.
The president is quoted as saying:
“We have recently suffered some generational problems. I held a stakeholders’ meeting with all those involved in the power sector. Because of sabotage in Nigeria on the terminals, crude oil that we ordered last month has not arrived; and so, it has created some generational problem for us.”
However, he assured Ghanaians that things will return to normal very soon. He said:
“We are taking steps every day to ensure that Ghana has security when it comes to power.”
